Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini ST15a Unlocked Cellphone - US Warranty - White

Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini ST15a Unlocked Cellphone - US Warranty - WhiteI must say I love this little phone. The littlest phone that sits perfectly in my hand eliminating any aches from carpal tunnel,,. Fits almost invisible in my pocket or bra for that matter. It does everything a regular android can do. I would of loved a 8pixel but I know now I'm just pushing it. I'm thrilled when clients, friend, and just random people ask " is that a phone?" I just had to put my tmoble chip and I don't need a contract and if Sony comes out with a new mini in 2013 or later I'm sure I'll buy that one too. Be sure to keep your system clean, and do updates. Very important.

I bought this phone (black version) on Amazon in March 2012. It was working fine for a while, but then I went to Europe in June. Phone started playing up, constantly clicking and no way to switch it off but to take out the battery. Commands were unresponsive and flicking all over the screen. Just could not phone as the icon would disappear before I managed to press it.

My husband reset it for me and still no improvement. I had to buy a new phone while away from home.

Back in the US, phone still not working, still clicking all the time waiting for Amazon to speak to retailer to accept it back. Waste of money for me, and I paid over $200 for it. Very disappointing.

Bought this phone for my mom for its simplicity. After two weeks of use, the software kept hanging up. Haptic feedback went wrong and phone kept vibrating continuously. After another week, mom tried the video player for the first time and the phone completely hanged. Re-started but the same problem kept repeating. Software & Hardware link isn't great. Simple phone of course but why use a $190 phone for only talk and text.

Good looking unit though. Very responsive and soft navigation without any lag.

First off, I'm not a kid whose parents pay the monthly bill and I don't call people to tell them it's raining. No, I use the phone when I need it. I finally dumped my NOKIA E71 because after a number of years I still couldn't figure out the Symbian OS. I wanted a good phone for my AT&T Pay as you Go plan. So first AT&T no longer allows data to move from a phone account. Must buy a data plan. OK I do and it works fine. Today I get a message from them that if I want a data plan I'll have to first triple my monthly payment and only then will they be so kind as to allow me a data plan (cost additional of course). So I guess it's WiFi for me. Oh, the phone. Well, it's Android and a good deal more sensible than Symbian and there are plenty of apps out there that don't have to go through iTunes. The phone is great! Small, good screen and sound. Unfortunately, you'll need a SIM card from a GSM carrier because it's not compatible with CDMA (Verizon et al).

Even knowing how slimy AT&T is I'd still buy the ST15a again.

Worked fine for first few months. But eventually you will notice that it is slows down but other than that this phone will work fine to get you by.

Tenergy Centura AA Low Self-Discharge LSD NiMH Rechargeable Batteries, 1 Card 4xAA

Tenergy Centura AA Low Self-Discharge LSD NiMH Rechargeable Batteries, 1 Card 4xAA
  • Very slow self discharge maintains 85% residual capacity after 1 year of storage and 70% residual capacity after 2 years of storage
  • Apr. 4 time more shots than with alkaline batteries. High performance even at low temperatures down to -10 C during your winter vacation
  • Designed for enhanced performance for high drain applications such as digital cameras, CD players, portable audio devices,
  • Also designed enhanced performance for hand held games, 2-way radios, PDAs, and other portable high drain digital electronics
  • Can be recharged for up to 1000 times, providing big saving by replacing hundreds of throw away AA batteries.
  • Can be rapidly charged with any quick charger, smart chargers, plug in charger or universal chargers

The product description of this item (Tenergy Centura AA Low Self-Discharge (LSD) NiMH Rechargeable Batteries) makes many similar claims as the original SANYO eneloop. The manufacturer even provided several charts, showing performance of Tenergy Centura to be nearly identical to that of Sanyo eneloop.

Frankly, I don't have much confidence in Tenergy products. But the present low price (30% less compared to eneloop) is just too hard to resist. So here are my test results, using my old La Crosse BC-900 Battery Charger:

Right out of the package, the average remaining charge measured was only 520mAh, or 26% of the rated capacity of '2000mAh'. In comparison, Sanyo eneloop typically arrives with ~75% of rated capacity.

After the first recharge, two cells reached ~1250mAh, while the other two reached ~2100mAh. I'm surprised to see this discrepancy, because it never happened to other name-brand LSD cells I have tested.

After the second recharge, all four cells reached ~2100mAh. Subsequent charge/discharge cycles gave average capacity of 2108mAh. This is very similar to the capacity of Sanyo eneloop.

It will take a few more months before I can have any long-term self-discharge data. As of right now, the Tenergy Centura seems to perform as well as advertised at least after two full discharge/recharge cycles. So I consider Tenergy Centura to be a good low-cost alternative to Sanyo eneloop. But for mission-critical applications, I will still trust eneloop over all other brands.

[Aside]

Make sure you shop around for the best unit-price. Presently the 12xAA package is actually more expensive than three 4-pack, after you factor in shipping cost.

[Update on Sep 24, 2011]

Long term self-discharge data: After 3 months in storage, a pair of Tenergy Centurs AA cells retained 1770mAh, or 84.3% of original capacity. This number by it self looks great. But a disturbing finding is that, after two more charge/discharge cycles, the average capacity is now just 2015mAh, or 4% lower than what I measured before. I have observed this kind of capacity reduction previously in off-brand precharged cells (such as Lenmar Ready-2-Go R2GAA), but never in Sanyo eneloop cells.

[Update on Nov 27, 2011]

Tested another pair of Centura AA cells after 5 months in storage. The results are similar: They retained 81.0% of original capacity, but their new average capacity dropped by 4% to only 2030mAh.

[Update on Nov 19, 2012]

I re-tested all four Tenergy Centura AA cells again on the same BC-900. To my surprise, their capacities are back to normal between 2070 and 2110mAh. I assume my previously measured lower capacities were affected by different ambient temperaure? Anyway, I have to restore my rating to 5-star since I can find no faults with this product.

Buy Tenergy Centura AA Low Self-Discharge LSD NiMH Rechargeable Batteries, 1 Card 4xAA Now

I purchased Tenergy Centura AA Low Self-Discharge (LSD) NiMH Rechargeable Batteries, 1 Card 4xAA. These batteries are doing great for my first month using them. I use them in my Sony portable CD player to listen to books and they are much better than the Energizer Rechargeable batteries that I had been using. Plus they have held their charge longer than the Energizers. I guess the LSD[Low Self Discharge]is responsible for this. I, also, purchased the [Tenergy Centura AAA Low Self-Discharge (LSD) NiMH Rechargeable Batteries, 6 Cards 24xAAAfor my MP3 Player and use 1 battery in it (again listening to books)and 3 in my books light. They are doing better than expected. The AAA is holding it's charge very well...changing the battery every 24-26 hours of play for the MP3 player and changed it out after 6 nights in the books light (which I am using as a portable night light while staying with my daughter and new baby). I could have gotten more time out of the book light, however, the light was starting to get a little dim and I chose to change it out rather than see exactly how long it would take to wear it down completely. I am EXTREMELY satisfied with these products, especially since I read such poor reviews on the regular Tenergy batteries. The Centura has exceeded my expectations and the price made it well worth it. With that being said, I have only had these batteries for a month or so and can't comment on the long term wear of them. I can say that in this month, I have put them through their paces and the ear plugs in my ears....(two babies in the house, a 17 month old & 15 day old and when one cries the other picks up on it, so Grandma has the MP3 player or CD with books going 24 hours a day in one ear and the other ear listening to babies)I'm pleased to say the batteries haven't failed me yet!!! I hope that long term is the same.

There are a lot of scientific reviews that provide a lot of data and I, too, find them valuable. However, sometimes things just come down to practical experience. I have had nothing but good luck with these batteries. These LSDs live up to their claims and will power just about anything I put them in even if they've been lying around for a few weeks.

Currently I am using them in two Plot Watcher Pro game cameras. These are time lapse cameras and take a picture every few seconds as opposed to just when something walks by. These batteries have been running the cameras for weeks at a time, taking about 7,200 pictures per day. (They get assembled into an AVI for those wondering. It's very convenient.) I haven't seen the batteries go dead yet, but that's because I refresh them every few weeks whether it needs it or not. During the off-season I'll experiment to see how long they will go.

Given that they are operating for so long at temperatures of about 50 degrees during the day and 30 degrees at the night I have NO complaints about them.

I would/will gladly buy more of these.

Update 2012.08.17: I have only charged these batteries one time since I bought them and they are not even close to needing a recharge! I'm using them in a blood pressure monitor that gets regular use almost daily.

These are the first "LSD" batteries I have bought and I have a few sets of Tenergy batteries and they've been really good and some are 3 years old with regular use and still going strong. I'll check back when I've gotten some use out of them for an update and rerating...

One thing that will absolutely make or break your batteries is the charger! I've worked in broadcasting, medical, RF, computer, and telecomm electronics for over 25 years and part of some of those jobs was to know all the battery chemical types and chargers. I'd have to say that about 95% of the chargers out there are cheap primitive junk. Do yourself a favor and invest in a really good charger so your batteries will be cared for and last instead of going bad in just a few months or a year. I'm the type that has batteries that will last as long as 10 years so I think I have it down when it comes to knowing the technology of a good charger.

A few years ago I bought 2 of these Titanium MD-3000 universal smart chargers and I couldn't be happier! Read my review at the link below. Battery Junction is another place to buy them if they dry up here on Amazon. The price is $40 and worth every cent!

http://www.amazon.com/Titanium-Universal-Ultra-Charger-MD-3000/dp/B0035H59O2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1336767613&sr=8-1

I bought 4 card(16cells) and all came with above of 1.32V, My first impression is, so far so good.

Right after 1st full charge with titanium 16bay charger, is't 1.42V I'll update review one day I find something.

Diameter:14.25mm. Length: 50.20mm.

Diameter is little big and it was hard to put them in 10 AA battery box, push it hard then it could fit.

Here's diameter of my NiHM AA diameter

GP ReCyKo+ self dicharge 2050mA(typ)= 14.30mm. it's also big for the AAx10 battery box.

Sanyo Eneloop(HR-3UTG) 2000mA(typ) =14.15mm

DLG 1800mA=13.95mm

Toshiba TH-3J,2150mA(min) = 14.15mm

Maybe AA's standard diameter is 14.00mm?

so be careful if it fits to your device or not.

Visual Land ME-909-SIL Mini MP3 Boombox Speaker for MicroSD/SD/USB Flash/Line In & Out/FM Radio (Sil

Visual Land ME-909-SIL Mini MP3 Boombox Speaker for MicroSD/SD/USB Flash/Line In & Out/FM Radio
  • 1.25 Inch 3 Line Backlit Display
  • Dual 3-Watts Powered RMS Speakers
  • Music Playback, FM Radio, Voice Recorder, Calendar, Clock
  • SD Card Slot, MicroSD Card Slot, USB Flash Drive, Auxiliary Line-In, 3.5MM Headphone Jack
  • Built-In Battery

If one sets their expectations correctly, this is an excellent little portable music player! Keep in mind that this thing is really tiny. Take two Altoids tins and flip them back to back facing you. This would be about the size of this "boombox." So if you are looking for bass response, this is not your boombox. This aside, this thing is awesome. It plays SD and micro SD cards and has a USB and micro-USB in and a line-in. So you could play music from SD cards, MP3 players, flash drives, phones, whatever. I've got a 4Gig card loaded full of music from my iTunes playlists from time to time that I will freshen up from time to time and call it a day, but you can use all sorts of inputs with this thing. It also has an FM radio and from my limited testing, the tuning is reasonably good.

Then there is the sound. For $35, frankly, this thing sounds significantly better than I expected. It is not going to reach volume levels that you can blast across your property, but I just brought it outside for an hour of gardening and it is 90 here and I live in the city, so there was plenty of loud A/C unit activity in the backyard. Nevertheless, the thing is loud enough without distorting to be pretty much audible from anywhere in my (40 foot long) backyard without distorting. It is so small, you can put it in your pocket and take it with you to wherever you may be. Then you don't have to crank it in the first place. It would be perfect for BBQs, small parties, the backyard, the beach, travel of any kind. It charges from a USB port (or adapter) and is still holding its charge now, 3 hours in.

The display on this thing is small, of course, almost comically small for some of the icons. There's actually too much information on there. I don't need the bit rate and format of the track I am playing displayed at all times given how small other, more essential items are on this teeny-tiny display. This being said, the fact that this thing has any kind of display at all is kind of amazing. The display is obviously a little on the cheeseball appearance side, but again, keep in mind the price point. More importantly, the overall build quality is good, the unit is attractive in many colors and the sound seems pretty solid, so one can overlook the less-than-state-of-the-art display. The alarm clock function looks like it would be kind of a pain to use, but again, it has an alarm clock?

In sum, given that I am about to order 3 more of these to give to friends as presents, I think it is fair to say that I would highly recommend this purchase if you like music everywhere you go and appreciate that this $35 purchase is not going to produce sound to rival your home stereo system. Great value for the money.

Buy Visual Land ME-909-SIL Mini MP3 Boombox Speaker for MicroSD/SD/USB Flash/Line In & Out/FM Radio (Sil Now

I purchased this mp3 boombox to place in our bathroom next to our shower. It's cheaper than buying a radio that hangs in the shower itself, and the option of playing your own music from flash drives/cards is hard to pass up. Size of the radio is very small, about the size of 2 or 3 Altoid mint cans stacked together. The player seems to be mostly aluminum, with a small base on the bottom made of clear acrylic. The build quality is excellent. The player looks a lot better than the photos online. The screen display is good enough, and I had little problems learning to navigate through it. The equalizer options are great, I set my player for SRS WOW and all my music sounds nice. The speakers are on opposite sides of the player, and with the volume set to maximum, it's loud enough to fill a room, or use out in the back yard. To make it louder, placing the player inside of a small box does the trick (you have to experiment with this, and can get unexpectedly great results! Unexpected pluses you can insert/remove flash drives and memory cards while playing music, and it automatically plays, no need to press buttons (do this at your own risk you could lose the music on the flash drive/card) and turning the player off and on with the switch on back, the music plays automatically. This is great when people are going to be using the player and aren't knowledgeable about modern music players. I filled a card with my mother's music, and told her to simply plug it in the back of the player, and turn it on. She sometimes plugs in the card then turns the player on, other times she turns the player on first, and then plugs in the card and the music starts playing, either way! Very goof-proof. I gave this player 4 out of 5 stars it's an almost perfect mini mp3 player. One star off because you have to experiment with how you put your songs on the memory sticks/cards. I loaded a 2GB flash drive with one music album to test out and it was excellent. I then loaded the card with about 11 albums, each in their own folder. When set to random, it will only play the songs in one folder. It won't go through all the music. Setting the player to 'normal' play mode and having it play the songs in order is the only way to have it play everything. These things can be fixed through a software update from the manufacturer's website in due time, but it's not a big deal. I'm about to order 2 more of these.

Although "boom"box might not be particularly accurate, given the lack of bass produced (for obvious size reasons), this unit provides very clear, sharp sound. The controls are very simple to use and the display is easy to read. The only thing stopping me from giving this 5 stars, is the fact that you cannot skip folders in mp3 format. I plugged a 4 Gb flash drive in with about 500 songs, with each album in its own folder. Unfortunately you have to skip through every song in each folder to progress to the next. Probably the best option is to buy many low-memory SD cards to avoid excessive button pushing. In my opinion, a very good buy for the money.

Want Visual Land ME-909-SIL Mini MP3 Boombox Speaker for MicroSD/SD/USB Flash/Line In & Out/FM Radio (Sil Discount?

I bought this unit as well as a SimplyVibe SV-X6U1 radio/MP3 player. I bought this Visual Land mini boom-box for me and the SimplyVibe player for my wife who uses it in her classroom with her students. To be honest, this unit is not nearly as good as the SimplyVibe.

For the small difference in $$, I would recommend the other one over this one. The speakers in this mini boom box are not as clear (clean) sounding. And while neither unit has an EQ or tone setting, the SimplyVibe just sounds better and has a bass booster. It also seems to have more volume (power). And the battery is replaceable, while this mini boom box is inside the unit and inaccessible.

I am using this mini boom-box with an MP3 thumb drive on my patio and it's running through a set of Altec Lansing computer speakers which include a subwoofer. In this way, it does a decent job filling the whole patio area with good sound, And we can enjoy hours of my music poolside. But as I said, if I had to do it over, I'd go with the other player. Hope that helps your decision!

I really like this mp3 player. For the money it's great. There are some drawbacks so let me outline some strengths and some weaknesses:

Strengths:

* Excellent sound. As a previous reviewer mentioned it won't play over a truck engine, but in an office or any other quiet room this little mp3 player will fill up the space and then some. As with other mp3 players there is an equalizer option so you can vary the tone some.

* There are three ways you can play audio from. The machine can take a micro card; a USB flash drive; and a regular sized memory card. You can only have one card/drive in at once (if it is empty you can have more than one, but if you have two loaded inputs the computer can't figure out how to separate and use all of the information). This means you can put 32gb's of info (I have 8gb's) on one of these. But practically speaking unless you are basically going to shuffle the music the more files is not necessarily better (i.e. it's a hard gadget to navigate). As another reviewer stated, the way to go may be to have several different interchangeable sources.

* You can use the boom box as an external speaker for your other mp3 players.

* Nice size; very portable. I bought the boom box for a very specific purpose outside the home, but have been getting good use for it in my apartment also.

* The player picks up exactly where it left off. Some cheap mp3 players go back to the beginning of a folder each time. IMHO, that's a pain.

Weaknesses:

* Really bad instructions. There is a whole navigation system built into this player and the instruction don't even scratch on this. As a real quick primer, if you press the menu button (far right) when a song is playing you can set the boom box to play one folder continuously, repeat all, go random, etc. One tip: random is random for the folder that is playing so if you want a big shuffle you have to have all of your music in one folder (no subfolders). If you pause the music and pick the menu button and then press into "Card Folder" you can navigate through all the music you have on the player. It's cumbersome, but better than pressing the the forward button 50 or 100 times. A little patience, a little experimentation and you can make the navigation system (not a bad one) work for you.

* While I think the boom box is durable the inside chasie seems to get loose easily. I returned one player because of this (I have purchase two [keeping one and giving one as a gift] and even my replacement *seems* to be loosening a bit. I'm not to worried about this; I don't think it will be a problem, but a drop of crazy glue would have gone a long way here.

* I haven't gotten the machine itself to connect to my computer (as the instructions say it will). I have a card reader, so no big deal and maybe this is an operating system compatibility issue (I use Windows 7, 64 bit and maybe it's the 64 bit that's snagging me here) and I have a card reader which does me just fine.

So in sum, five stars for the price. Consider carefully what you want the boom box for and if after considering the promotional material and the reviews the gadget seems to fit your needs it's worth taking a chance on. I really do like it and am very glad I got one for myself and one as a gift for someone else.

If you're listening to internet radio on your computer, this is a definite must-buy! I've listened much more to on-line stations now that I don't have to boot up my pc. Connected easily to my wi-fi & my home stereo w/ digital audio, and I've even added wireless connections to other parts of the house w/ some existing speakers I had! Nice addition to the home audio components. One item you need to know: Grace Audio website registration & set-up doesn't work w/ Internet Explorer for some reason; customer service answered my inquiry within a day & advised Mozilla Firefox (which I also use) or Google Chrome. And listen outside the borders... try Australia or Canada! It's not the same old music.

I moved to a rural community in Kansas after living in a large city all my life. One day I was outside and thought I could hear testing of a tornado siren off in the distance. I immediately realized the tornado siren would be of no use to me during a storm and decided I needed to buy something to alert me of a severe weather event. I purchased this 18 months ago and have been extremely happy with its performance. I found it easy to program. I can get up in the morning and push the "listen" button and hear the weather forcast for the day. I keep mine in my kitchen and it is loud enough that it will wake you in the middle of the night if the alarm is sounded. you are able to control most of the alerts that it is designed to alert you with for example if you do not live in flood proned area you can turn off the alert for a flood watch etc. Some alerts have the option to be turned off but the machine is programmed to keep them on anyway such as a tornado warning. This radio has over 80 alerts programmed into the machine but not all will pertain to your area such as Kansas will never have an alarm go off for an avalanche. This machine can even alert you of an amber alert in your area. I highly recommend this device I have never experienced any kind of failure and have purchased one as a gift. This machine will also use rechargeable batteries that will continuously charge while the machine is plugged in, in the event of power failure it automatically changes over to battery power. Get it you will be glad you did.

I bought this model or a similar one elsewhere, not sure which. I have the WX-150 which meets my home needs quite well. As the earlier reviewer mentioned, it is easy to edit the alerts, in fact, this radio has the ability to add alerts if new ones are created. I checked NOAA online and found that my radio has more alerts programmed than their online webpage. I'm still trying to find out if there are a few that need to be programmed in.

My model (this one?) has an output for a pulse that can start an external alarm system. The WX-200 (again, this one?), has an external speaker output. If one needs to alert a large area directly then you need to find a WX-200.

Pro:

easy to program

has two alarm clocks

good receiver

Con:

not much, the only complaint I have is that the 'power on' green light is a little too bright for placement near my bed. The alarm can be adjusted to be really loud, so this is really a nit.

Jensen JCR-222 AM/FM Projection Clock Radio

Jensen JCR-222 AM/FM Projection Clock RadioI bought this clock because I wanted a projection system with a built in radio receiver. There are a few things about this system which is not mentioned by the seller or other reviewers on Amazon.

1. The projection system is a separate clock...meaning, it does not get the projection time information for the main LCD that shows in green. You have to set the time for projection separately!! Not sure how accurate this will be or if this will start to drift over time from the main time display.

2. Swivel for the projection: Not sure how someone calculated 120degree swivel for this...it does not swing 120 degrees. At best you can get about 90degree swivel.

3. Not stable: The unit is not stable. It sits on 3 stubby feet and if your nightstand or table surface is smooth and if you try to set the alarm or turn ON/OFF the projection, the clock will move all over the place. It is too light.

4. Ergonomics of use: The switches are not positioned well in place. They are on the side and are simple, cheap switches. They will NOT withstand use over time. It is difficult to turn OFF the alarm in the morning for the same reason....you have to fumble around to find the switch.

5. Jog Dial: No one mentions it, but the whole rim of the front face is a dial that you turn in one direction to set time and the other direction to set the minutes. This is extremely flimsy (read as classic chinese design!). You can skip through time easily if you are not very careful...makes setting the time difficult.

In short the features are not so great, but there is a certain value for the money you spend. I've had it for about 3 weeks at the time of this review and so far so good. Oh...by the way, the FM radio comes with a bundled wire antenna...not sure what you are supposed to do with this, but this will add to the clutter of your desk. The radio reception is fair...I will not say that it is great.

Projection system works ok. It is not too bright nor too faint...just about the right luminosity. Once you turn on projection it stays ON for ever till you turn it off using one of the flimsy switches. I've had clocks that give you options of continued projection or selective projection when you need it...I think I like them better.

Hope you found this useful...enjoy!

I bought this for my 5 year old who insisted he needed an alarm clock for school. He loves the projection on the ceiling and has figured out how to put it where he wants (wall/ceiling, etc). He has no clue as to how to turn it off or on or anything more than that but it's a typical alarm clock pushing the switch to turn off. Never had a clock that when you set the time you turned the knob one way for hours and the other way for minutes. He loves it!

I bought this about a year ago. I really liked this until the projector and alarm stopped working.

Pro: Very easy to set time with the turn dial.

Focusing knob allows one to focus on different ceiling heights.

Con: Projector didn't work for very long.

Alarm stopped working.

Great product. I had one previously but it wore out. I was pleased to find one on line. As an extra bonus it came with a radio. I first noticed this product at Design Within Reach, a furniture store in my neighborhood. I was originally intrigued by the remote, of all things. A simply designed, easy to use, aesthetically pleasing accessory matching the simple, but elegant design of the unit. I tested the 2 units in the store, a medium and large version of this product, and they both sounded amazing, yet for $699, and $999, respectively, far too expensive for what is essentially an iPod docking station w/ CD player.

Happy to learn that a smaller, non-cd playing version was available for $299, a more reasonable price that I now realize is something of a steal. The sound quality is quite good, especially for a small or medium sized room. Surprisingly, while not as high powered as its medium or large counterpart, there isn't a remarkable corresponding reduction in fidelity. Clear, crisp and treble and bass controls actually accomplish a meaningful change in overall sound impact. I am hardly an audiophile, but I have noticed the shockingly poor sound quality of standalone docking stations available at Apple (!) & most other retailers. Apple, which trades in design ingenuity and above all simplicity, offers a bewilderingly bad (and small) array of stereo choices: something resembling a tiny CAT scan-looking machine which sounds tinny, and not something that would look impressive on any shelf. Or, another unit that looks like a bird feeder tray with a tiny speaker stranded in the middle.

The stereo is a fine looking addition to my home and there is nothing on the market that comes close to its design. The lacquered box is brilliant, and looks wonderful in the room, without dominating it. Like the product it is designed to support, it is cleanly made and clutter-free.

A couple of complaints: while the remote is simple to use, I am wondering why the manufacturer chose not to include a menu button for changing the playlists, etc. The menu option is only found on the device itself, and it is far more expedient to just use the iPod controls. Would have also liked to have seen a sleep timer on this thing, even though I would rarely use it. Also, military time as the only option? Really?

Finally, a unique complaint. The play wheel makes a satisfying (some have said annoying) clicking noise exactly like the 1st gen Nano iPods used to do when moving about the playlists. Unfortunately, my cat has discovered the play wheel and likes to manipulate the thing while the iPod is playing to generate the clicking noise. I am hoping he tires of itat $299 this is an expensive cat toy...

Overall, this is one of the best purchases I have made on Amazon, and I really am pleased with it.

Buy Geneva Sound Systems Model S: Hi-Fi Docking Station for iPod/iPhone with FM & Alarm, Red Now

I've been searching a dock for my iGadgets (nano, touch, iphone)for a while.

There are tons of docks out there but they either lack design or sound quality.

Genevalab has it all: sleek, compact, good sound.

Price wise it's reasonable (S model)

I like the fact that it has FM/AM (i like local channels vs internet radio).

I have this for a few months now and so far i am very satisfied.

I am eying some of their bigger models.

I have had several units that are ipod "music" systems. The Geneva is one of the nicer ones. Sound is good, very nice looking and good tuner. Compared to the Polk, Isonics, Denon's, all of which I have owned, this is the best sounding and best looking. The interface is not as easy as some, but the remote is very easy to use. For the "style" user, this is definitely a consideration

I've owned a Bose Sounddock and Harman/Kardon Go+Play. Love the sound on both of those.

The GenevaSound Small is impressive for a small speaker (smaller than both speakers I've owned), but it just wasn't enough. I tried it in my office and in my bedroom at home. If you're close it sounds great, but it doesn't fill the room like these other two speakers.

I returned the Small and have ordered the GenevaSound Large, which I think will be better for my needs. Don't be convinced that the small can fill a space with good audio like the Sounddock or Go+Play. It's impressive, but more along the lines of a very, very nice clock radio.

I have two GenevaSound models: a red S and a Walnut XL. They are both excellent.

This "S" model lives next to my bed, and it is because of its quality that I was moved to buy an "XL" for my living room.

The best thing about this unit is that it sounds good. Much better than I expected for the size. The feeling I got upon first hearing this unit was the same feeling I got the first time I heard a Tivoli Radio: "Wow! How can all of that clean balanced sound be coming out of there"? If all this system had was the sound, I'd still have bought it.

But there's more! The build-quality of this unit is simply excellent, given the nature of the product. Here are some highlights:

-The touch-sensitive buttons are both intuitively laid out and responsive.

-Unlike with the XL, you can actually control all of the important functions with the buttons on the unit itself.

-When you turn the power onto a live source, it incrementally ramps up the volume level to the total you've set it at, so there is no abrupt jolt of sound.

-The ipod dock flips open and closed automatically, and seems fairly durable.

What more can I say? If I lost it, I'd buy another one without hesitating.

Best regards,

Ryan

Motorola HD Dock with Wall Charger for Motorola Smartphones and Tablets - Retail Packaging - Black

Motorola HD Dock with Wall Charger for Motorola Smartphones and Tablets - Retail Packaging - BlackI am extremely dissatisfied with using this product as a desktop docking station for my Droid 4. It is unnecessarily large and bulky, because it was designed to support the weight of tablet devices as well as phones. Since it is somewhat universal, there are no channels to guide the device into the dock ports. This makes docking and undocking the phone very painful, even after you carefully dial in the depth on the dock. A major shock to me was that the USB port on the back does not carry data, rendering the dock useless for syncing media with a PC, which I fully expected to be able to do. Since the docking station port-replicates a micro-USB port, why in the world would it be designed not carry the data signal as well as power? I was expecting a lot more from Motorola after being very satisfied with the official dock for my A855. I have nothing good to say about the design of this product. Unless you want an outrageously overpriced charger, this is useless for a phone.

PROS:

The two connectors (mini USB/charging and mini HDMI) are on a sliding tray that can lock into position as required to fit Motorola phones including Droid 3 and Droid 4, or for motorola tablets. It also has inserts that can be removed when tablet/phone has a case. The knob on top is used to lock the sliding connector tray into place, as well as the spring loaded rear backing pad, so the device is held fairly firmly in place when locked down. HDMI cable carries video and audio out, plus there is a 3.5mm earphone jack for analog audio output. It triggers the various docking modes on my Droid 4 phone, but I haven't spent much time trying to learn or use them... they may work well, but I don't have a use for them. It's the only dock that can accept Droid 4 phone at this time.

CONS:

Will NOT charge motorola XOOM tablet since it does not have the separate charging pins that Xoom requires. Motorola Xoom tablet cannot charge through the mini USB port like most other phones and tablets. Wish they allowed a lower rate charge through this connector, but they cheaped out on the original Xoom. It might charge other tablets but I can't confirm this.

It does not rotate Droid 4 phone's home screens to portrait mode when inserted into the dock unless an HDMI cable is connected to a device that is turned on (such as a TV). However, the apps seem to rotate with the phone normally, so this is only a minor annoyance.

It's kinda tricky getting the connectors to line up when inserting a tablet or phone unless you are at eye level with the connectors.

It's a fairly large unit, so it looks pretty clunky on a bedside table. So far, it's the only dock for Droid 4, so I choose to overlook the large clunky dock on the nightstand. I wish they would come out with a small dock like they have for previous droids. I'll definitely replace this dock if a smaller one becomes available.

I have had great experience with previous Motorola docks but not this one. There is a manufacturing problem. The two male plugs are not properly aligned (relative to one another) as they are placed in the plastic slide. The slide itself is adjustable to accomodate different devices (Droid, Zoom, etc) but the two plugs are fixed on the slide. One can look at the plugs and see they are not properly aligned. The two female openings in the phone are properly aligned. So the plugs on the dock do not align with the openings on the phone. At Amazon's suggestion I am returning this one and ordering another.

There's an old saying "Jack of all trades but master of none". Which basically means if you try to do everything you'll end up doing nothing well. That sums up this dock.

I've had all previous droids and their docks, this one sucks compared to the others.

The dock is meant to allow use with multiple devices. I'm guessing it'll be just as crappy with any other models as it is with the Droid 4.

The first failure is the depth adjuster. Instead of having a cleanly sized 'socket' for your phone you're left trying to determine just how deep to set the dock yourself. This might be useful if you have a non-standard case on your phone. But if you're using the phone by itself it just means you're left with a loose, hard to align ledge.

The second failure is the double connectors. I don't need video out on my desk. I need USB charging. But since the dock has two connectors it's a hassle trying to line up both connectors. On other docks you just set it into the cradle and you're done. Not this one. Here you have to fiddle around trying to line it up. Scratching the side of your phone in the process.

Thirdly there's the hassle of disconnecting from the dock. The two plugs make a secure connection. This would be good except it means the dock gets pulled up when you trying to remove the phone. You have to struggle with it to get it loose. I have to imagine all this yanking around is unnecessarily hard on the connectors in the phone. So instead of being convenient it'll just end up breaking your phone earlier. Gee, thanks Moto.... NOT.

As a side note, it appears the D4 no longer uses a magnet to determine whether it's in a dock or not. This means third party docks won't be as available. Again, screw us much, moto? First you make a crappy dock and then engineer it so nobody else can make a better one?

What an absolute useless piece of junk. Why would you have a USB plug that does not sync to your PC but is charger only? It don't matter what you plug in the back, they disabled the data channels. This thing is going right back. Previous docks by Motorola had no problem syncing with PC. Some genius at Motorola thought to themselves "hey people don't use docks with PC's". The funny thing is they did it with not only this dock but the more expensive dock too.

So let me see the scenario that they thought through (my tone is highly sarcastic). When you want to have a clock on your desk, or make a phone call use the dock. When you need to sync photos or something with your pc, pull the phone off the dock, get another wire and hook that into the phone and then do your syncing. Later when you are done syncing, put it back on the dock when you want it to look pretty. Seriously, duhhhhh.

If someone from Motorola reads this review, please do me a fave so I feel better: Close your eyes shake your head left to right rapidly, and start running at full speed (keep shaking that head).

Apart from that you cannot lift the phone off this dock without the dock coming right with it because the plugs are holding on so tight. On the surface the adjustable would seem genius, but what an absolute useless piece of junk.

iHome 2go iH18w Docking Station for iPod Shuffle and Portable Travel Alarm Clock (White)

iHome 2go iH18w Docking Station for iPod Shuffle and Portable Travel Alarm Clock
  • The portable system for your iPod Shuffle
  • Listen and sleep to your iPod shuffle anywhere
  • Battery Operation for complete portability
  • Line-in jack to connect other audio divices (MP3 & CD players, etc)
  • Travel case and AC Adaptor included

You can charge your ipod and listen when this unit is plugged into the wall, or listen with just batteries. The sound is crisp and clean, but don't expect any real bass. For that reason alone, I don't use these speakers anymore. These are small speakers so you can't crank 'em up super loud but they are loud enough. You can plug any audio device into the headphone jack plug-in on the back. The alarm makes a beeping sound that a heavy sleeper, might just sleep through.

Sony Boombox with CD Player, AM/FM Radio, and iPod Dock (White)

Sony Boombox with CD Player, AM/FM Radio, and iPod Dock
  • Supports most iPhone and iPod models with Universal Dock Connector
  • Built-in dock makes it easy to use--simply connect iPod and press play
  • CD-R/RW playback capability lets you play burned disks or create custom mixes from your existing music collection
  • iPod battery charging while on dock so you never have to worry about running low on battery life
  • Audio-in jack lets you easily connect other digital music players to the boombox
  • It supports most iPhone and iPod models with Universal Dock Connector

This is a neat boombox. I use it when I am cooking or just relaxing. I have only used it indoors (where it sounds great), but I think it is good (though not the best) for outdoors as well.

I had modest expectations when I purchased this and it has worked very well for me. I use an ipod touch in the docking station at it works great. There is no way to navigate ipod menu's (such as artist, songs, and playlist) on the boombox itself, but I use the touch interface on my ipod and it works fine. Of course, the play, pause, and forward/backward skip buttons on the boombox can be used with the ipod (for example, after you choose your favorite artist, playlist, etc on your ipod unit then you can hit play on the boombox and the song will play).

The cd player works great even with heavily used or slightly scratched cds and also plays cdr or cdrw burnt cds. The radio gets great reception. Although you won't be able to throw a window shattering party with this one, I think it is a good buy for most people.

I bought this box mostly to have a portable player for my ipod. This also has a cd player and radio which seemed to make it more functional but it is definitely not small/light/as portable as some of the other products I looked at. The sound is ok, not teriffic, but good enough for the backyard or listening around the house. I think I will use it a lot.

I am very pleased with my purchase! This was exactly what I wanted in order to a) give me an Ipod dock and b) eliminate the big bulky stereo system in my bedroom. So now I can choose to play my Ipod, listen to a CD or the radio! Plus it will charge my Ipod without having to turn on the computer! Great sound, great price! I would recommend!

I was very disappointed with this product. The sound did not have ANY bass even though it has a bass booster. For Christmas I received the ILive Radio (IB318B) and compared the music between the two radios -using my IPOD. It wasn't even closethe ILive blew it away. The Sony radio was more expensive and the quality was sub par with music having bass. For those of you who like dance music go with the ILIVE.

Best of luck with your purchases.

I have been looking for an Ipod/ tuner radio/ cd player for months. I found another brand I liked after doing a google search but I personally do not like ordering brands or from sites that I do not know. My amazon search did not yield this item. I went to Best Buy to look for something else and decided to check out the radios and there was this one but in black. I wrote down as much info as I could regarding model, etc and came home and typed into amazon. Yeah!

We use it our toddlers room so he can have all three exposed to him. We love the local Jazz and NPR stations, we occasionally still buy and receive CDs for him, and also download music onto our Itunes that we dock for him to use. Yes, the reception could be better, esp. for a digital tuner but are extremely pleased overall, love the white, and was $79 (with free ship) compared to Best Buys $99!

Duracell Ultra AA Alkaline Batteries, 8-Count Package (Pack of 2)

Duracell Ultra AA Alkaline Batteries, 8-Count PackageI use these ultra batteries with my LED hi lumen output bicycle and flashlights. Most bike lights and flashlights eat battery life at least the hi lumen output ones do like 90 to 220 lumens in this case. The regular AAA batteries drained really fast like 30 minutes or so of use. Unless you have the hi end "CREE" bulbs in your device you should invest in these. For "lo stream" or lo usage devices like your remote control any old battery kirkland or generic works fine life wise but hi usage devices require the name brand duracell types and in this case ultras. Digital cameras also should get ultras in them unless you want to risk a dead battery.

I have tested Duracell Ultra Advanced batteries in my digital camera and my wireless mouse. In both cases, they lasted substantially less time than plain old Duracell batteries. Why pay more for less? These batteries are a scam. Get plain old Duracell batteries instead and save yourseld the disappointment.

These ultra batteries are the perfect thing for digital cameras that pull a lot of power, as they do last a lot longer than regular alkaline batteries. Good price.

Duracell uses same Packaging for these Ultra Advance Alkaline batteries as it does for its Ultra Lithium batteries. This is Marketing trick to confuse the customer. The CR123 batteries Duracell sell which says Ultra on it is a Lithium Battery & does last longer. My Alarm company uses them in their products. But to Label their Alkaline batteries with the SAME Packaging and call them "ultra" when they are NOT Lithium batteries sound like bait & switch to me.. They are just average alkaline batteries with an expensive price on them. Now if you get them at a Big Box wholesale club at a discount, them maybe but if you are buying just too at a Drug store the price is downright OUTRAGEOUS !

That is how they make their money...
