This is a nice clock for the office, but I don't depend on it to wake me up. I chose this clock because of the dual alarms and iPod connection. The buzzer alarm is not very loud and turns off automatically when the radio alarm goes off. The radio is not good very bad reception that fades in and out without moving the dial or antenna wire. I'm going to find a better alarm clock and take this to the office as a desk clock & iPod speaker. The good features: dimmer for the display, 2,5, 7 day alarms, automatically updates with Daylight Savings change and you can adjust the volume for the sleep setting without changing the alarm volume.

I recently purchased this Timex clock radio because of it's dual-alarm and MP3 hook-up capability. The alarms are way to soft and I slept through them twice (and I am not a heavy sleeper). However, the worst part was that I was unable to read the clock face unless standing above it at an odd angle. The lighted digital display of time did not contrast with the background enough to distinguish unique characters. The clock constantly looks like it reads 18:88 instead of the correct time. Changing the soft display colors did not help. After two days of having no clue what the correct time was, I returned it for a full refund.

Timex watches might take a licking & keep ticking, but this clock radio is very poorly designed. It's difficult to program time/date (not intuitive like other clock radios). The off buttons stopped working after 2 weeks. I'm taking it back to the store. This is one of those cases where you get what you pay for. Now I'm willing to pay more to get better quality.

I'll admit, I bought this clock mostly for the shiny colors. The MP3/CD jack was an added attraction, along with the low price. But I've had it for less than 24 hours and I'm already sorely disappointed with it. First off, you can only set one of each type of alarm one buzzer alarm, one radio alarm. That doesn't really qualify for a dual alarm in my book, and this is the first alarm clock I've ever seen where you can only set one alarm to buzzer and one to radio.

The buzzer alarm is hardly a buzzer it's more like a "meep meep" sound. And to hook your MP3 player in to listen to it, you need to keep it on continuously, or wake up and turn it off when the sleep timer shuts off. I don't have an iPod so I can't dock it in an electrical charger, so that means lots of burned-out batteries. The radio/MP3 line in are both great-sounding, bordering on pleasantly loud, but the radio reception is kind of iffy. If I could set both alarms to wake to a loud radio, I think this alarm clock would satisfy me but alas, I can't.

The redeeming qualities are that you can set an alarm to go off every day, M-F, or weekends. Of course, I work Sunday-Thursday starting at 11:45 PM, so if I set the clock about 45 minutes fast, this would work for me. The daylight savings time auto-switch is nice, too. And, of course, I'm a fan of the shiny colors. But after having this clock for approximately 12 hours, I'm going to return it to the store tomorrow.

I've had this alarm clock for a year and a half, so that's pretty good because many others have said that within only a few days the alarm clock will completely reset itself as if the power went out. This is what happened to me a few days ago. I thought the power went out because the date and time were wrong, so I went to set the clock to the right date and time and as soon as I did, the clock completely reset itself on its own again. I'm glad it hasn't done this when I had to wake up for class or work, I guess I'm lucky. But don't buy this if you want a reliable clock that lasts.

Really liked the product at first, but after about 6 months it started to make Clicking & Popping Noises when I used my iPod Touch in the dock. It's out of the minimal 90 day warranty, so I guess I found out why it has a 90 day warranty. So now a just have an expensive alarm clock with a light switch.

Most will probably begin to phase away from this particular model due to its older Apple connection. You could always purchase an adapter, but this is not really what makes this product worthless. We actually have two, and both of them are virtually the same. Mine has for no real reason suddenly turned on in the middle of the night. The app doesn't always work. We have been late a few times due to the alarm not going off, which is kind of the point of having an alarm clock. It does have a good sound, but I would not recommend it.

Saw a write-up on this product in article on new and cool products--sounded good for a student. First one was defective 2 weeks after purchase (lamp feature stopped working), and then, 9 months later, power just ceased, and product no longer works. For the price, should be of better long-lasting quality.

The stem iPod dock is pretty technologically sound. Some of the features are more advanced than other companies, such as the ability to connect your bedside lamp to the dock. My biggest concern, which ultimately led to me returning this product, is that this iPod dock doesn't come with a remote control. Many reviews have discussed the player in depth, so let me address a couple of issues in regards to the older player, the G1, versus the new player, the G2.

The G1 player is obviously bigger, and while one advantage is an easier to read screen, it is a bigger package to carry around.

The G1 player also has not had any further firmware updates since March '08, while the G2 player has had frequent updates. Therefore, some important features such as improved battery life, and better USB connectivity have not (yet) been updated for the G1. Please check the slacker forums if you're thinking about buying a G1 to see if any updates have occurred since this was posted.

The G1 player lacks an equalizer control setting, while this was incorporated into the G2 player. I can't say that the G2's equalizer is worth much, as they don't have any user adjustable settings.

The G2 player has a setting to manage the WiFi settings, whereas this has not (yet) been implemented in the G1 player. This again reflects the lack of any further apparent support for this first generation player.

As the price of the 8Gb G1 player has not dropped substantially (although for a time it was selling for less than from Amazon), the G2 unit appears to be the primary hardware that is receiving support from the company.

The G1 player has had an annoying habit of occasionally having a break in audio at the beginning of a song. This has not been a problem with the G2 units. It is unknown what creates the problem, but there has not been a fix issued for the G1 unit to address this issue.

Remember, if you use the web based player at ..... not all the songs that can be heard on the web player are licensed to be downloaded onto the portable players. The company says that there are they are continually gaining more licensing rights, but it is unclear what percentage of music that you hear on the webplayer can be transferred to the portable player. Even with this limitation, you can create a wide variety of stations and enjoy them on the units.

However, for your money, you will probably find the G2 unit less buggy, and better supported by the company with updates.

The Slacker Portable Radio is a very usable and enjoyable device. Although I enjoy staying current, I am not usually an "early adopter" of new technology, but the stars were aligned for me on this one and I took the risk. I have not regretted it.

The best thing about the Slacker Portable is the hassle-free way a variety of music is delivered to the player. The whole concept of having music delivered to a portable player "automatically" and in a radio station format without the endless chatter of an actual radio station is appealing. In practice, the Slacker Portable works quite well, with a couple of quirks. I love the large album cover art with artist information and album reviews. Obviously, these things are not useful in the car, but when I am using the player at my desk, they work great. The music selection is good and Slacker gives the user some freedom in programming the stations.

I continue to have some very small problems with the player: music sometimes cuts out briefly at the beginning of tracks & player responds slowly to button pushes, at times. These keep me from rating the device a perfect 5 stars. I remain hopeful that these issues will be addressed, as the previous firmware updates solved some other small problems with my player. Firmware updates could not be easier since they are performed automatically when the player is updated with new music.

The best endorsement I can give is that I would buy another Slacker Portable if I had to do it over.

Well, I have had my 8GB 40-station Slacker Portable for almost a month now, and I must agree with "Patent Guy", the Slacker experience is quite amazing! I use my Slacker Portable everyday, especially during my driving commute each day.

I also have Sirius Satellite radio along with the Sirius Stiletto 100 Portable radio, I use both the Slacker and the Stiletto, but they are two different devices and services which complement each other. Also have iPods, but the music selection gets stale on them quickly. Sirius is great obviously for custom content like Howard Stern and Vin Scelsa. The Slacker service is a whole new concept in personalized radio.

I am a Mac guy, so I don't use the Slacker Player for Windows, but the Slacker Portable connected to my Apple Airport Extreme immediately via WiFi at blazing speed with no problem.

Mine came pre-loaded with ten stations of my choice selected from the Slacker Web Player, and I quickly added over twenty more to the Portable. I opted to upgrade my Slacker service to "premium", which allows for much more control of the Slacker experience.

The Slacker Portable unit itself is very sleek, a little cumbersome for my hand, but once you use it for awhile, it's all right. It does fit in a shirt or jacket pocket, I use it in my shirt pocket with ear buds and it works great.

The actual hardware takes some getting used to, and the button placement and design could be better, I keep hitting unintended buttons to perform tasks and it does the opposite of what I want. The large screen is gorgeous and brilliant, and the copious information screens for each song/artist that you can toggle through are great. I wish there was another screen for lyrics for each song, that would be awesome! It has a battery compartment which in theory you can open and replace the battery if needed, not sure if Slacker will offer the option to buy replacement batteries in the future. Other accessories in the works include a home and car dock, not available yet.

I have numerous stations on both the Web Player and the Portable, and the customization level of each station is phenomenal! You can control the amount of "new artists" discovered for each station, and turn off the "DJ" feature (this control is premium service only), This "DJ" feature is annoying to me, as it inserts Slacker promos, DJ comments derived from the radio station's genre, and also paid commercial ads.

That was the main reason I upgraded to the Slacker premium service, to be able to eliminate this "DJ/Promos/Ads" feature is well worth it to me! What's the point of this new "personalized' radio if it contains the same pesky promos, commentary and ads I am trying to avoid from terrestrial radio? Also, the premium service allows you to "Save" almost any song (provided the rights to save that song have been purchased by Slacker). You can "save" songs to the Web Player OR the Portable, sometimes certain songs can be saved to one and not the other, for licensing reasons.

Premium service also allows song requests and unlimited song "skips", which is useful for rapidly bypassing ("banning") songs I don't like to reach songs I can designate as a "favorite" and save. This process applies to each Slacker station. Slacker has tons of pre-configured stations, or you can create your own with just the artists you like, or stations can be shared from other users on the Slacker Forums.

I am amazed at the depth of music and range of great songs I can now access with my customized stations. I am constantly hearing favorite songs I love from all genres that I haven't heard played on any radio platform for years! Of course, I can immediately save these to my Web Player or Portable library to play anytime. The library can be set to "shuffle-play" like a huge playlist.

The killer feature of the Slacker Portable is that the music selection for each station is updated, expanded and refreshed every time you connect via WiFi (auto-connect occurs each time you plug in the AC charger). This is where the "surprise" element comes in, when you play each station again, there is a new roster of songs/artists to discover! Wifi connections also allow the Portable to update its own firmware automatically.

You can also create custom playlists, and "ban" & "favorite" songs or even artists, and if you change your mind and decide you want to hear a previously banned song, you can "un-ban" it via the Software Player.

Overall, for me the Slacker Portable is unique and satisfying experience, I am very pleased with it in general. It has a few quirks to resolve, but these can be addressed with future firmware updates. Slacker tech support is very responsive to user comments and suggestions.

I love my Slacker Portable. Downloading songs to my other mp3 player is such a hassle that I never use it. I listen to my Slacker Portable all the time! With the Slacker Portable, it is just like listening to my favorite radio station, but without the annoying commercials and DJ breaks. Nothing but music. Because of music licensing issues, the mix of songs played on the Portable is slightly different than those played on Slacker Radio streamed through the Internet. If you like listening to Slacker Radio, you will enjoy listening to the Portable.

The music on the Portable is refreshed from www.Slacker.com by either a USB connection or a WiFi connection. My USB connection does not work, yet, but the WiFi connection is great. I can even refresh my music when I am eating at a restaurant that has free WiFi!

I have the 8GB version and I can listen for days (I listen about 16 hours a day) without having to refresh. I haven't run the battery down, but I often listen for over 4 hours at a time on the battery. And that is using the display a lot to check out the artist and album information, which is pretty much the same as on the Slacker Internet radio player when streaming music. I connect my Portable to my stereo and to my car radio through a headphone amp and the sound is good.

Slacker is a startup company and the Portable was just released in February 2008. There are some problems with the first units being shipped. They have released one firmware update and are working on another to be coming soon. The current features are limited and they do not all work. I love my Slacker Portable, imperfections and all, and I am sure it will only get better as the problems are resolved.

If you do not mind being an early adopter and feel comfortable using something that is a work in progress, then by all means get one. But, if you just want something that works flawlessly the first time and every time, then you would be better off waiting until all the bugs are worked out.

I think this is the best gadget out there right now. Reason is I have an iTouch which is great if you want to listen to the same songs over and over. I also love Sirius, but can only get in my car when I am home. Issue is I travel on planes a ton, and want to listen to new music (vs same old songs).

This is a great idea, because you load what 'channels' you like (can even create your own) and it loads fresh songs (via wi-fi or USB) when you are connected automatically. It so cool because they are artists I like and it's alway new music (vs my iTouch which has same old songs). Oh the best part, the songs are free.

I can't believe this is not more popular--I am buying as gifts for family and friends to spread the word. I bought 25 channel version, 15 is the most one will ever need, so moving forward I will just purchase that model as gifts.

Funny, because in my backpack traveling weekly, this has replaced my iPod (still good for movies). So now I have Bose headets and Slacker for hours and hours of fresh music. Can use on one charge for 6 hour round trip flights.

Must have for those that travel or those on the go...get one, you won't regret it!

This speaker set really sounds great. I am an audiophile who would usually go the extra $$ for the best sounding unit (i.e. the Bose Sound Docks or something comparable) but you can only spend so much on peripherals. FYI, I checked out the various dock options on Amazon.com. I've heard the JBL On-Stage at a friend's house and liked it, but I was concerned about all the feedback in the reviews about that unit's volume control issues. Speaker sound is all about personal preference and hearing those speakers in the environment where they will be played. I went with the Klipsch for 3 reasons the company is known for making high-end tower speakers, the unit includes an "S" video jack for showing videos and podcasts on my TV and the reviews here and elsewhere were positive. I normally wouldn't buy speakers without hearing them first, but I relied on the reviews and the company's reputation and besides, the pricing was good and I could always return the speakers if they didn't sound great in my house.

I received the unit and unpacked it in my bedroom, where it will ultimately be used. It was super-simple to setup indeed the instruction manual is only 3-4 pages of large type. I put my iPod on the unit and fired it up. The sound that came forth was crisp, clean and impressive. Frankly, not to knock Bose, but the sound was about as good as the sound from my Bose Wave Radio which cost more than 3X what the Klipsch cost. The sound is excellent with lusty base, crisp treble and superb midrange. I have played a variety of music and have been continually impressed with the sound reproduction. Pop, Hip Hop, Classical, Jazz you name it, this Klipsch really delivers. And it fills my moderate-sized bedroom with music without any trace or distortion and it sounds very natural. I haven't used the S-Video hook up to view videos yet, but I'm sure it will work well also. In my opinion, this is the best unit at the $150 price point it will not disappoint!

Here are my overall pros and cons for the Klipsch:

Pros:

-> Attractive form factor and reasonably small foot print

-> Easy to set up

-> Sound quality is excellent at all ends of the musical spectrum

-> Price is very reasonable

-> Fills the room with clear, crisp music at any volume level sounds great on low or played loud

-> Has video connection for movies and podcasts many other speaker sets don't have this feature

Cons:

-> The volume buttons on the unit itself don't have a smooth positive feel they are stiff in their operation

-> A screen like that of the Altec Lansing would be nice so that you could see the volume level and other key operating statistics of the unit

Bottom Line: If you appreciate good sound reproduction, this is the unit for you!!! Take it home and try it you can return it if you don't like the sound. But trust me, you'll love it!!!!

Here's the quick. The Klipsch is quite good but not quite great. I performed my own side-by-side comparison of the Klipsch iGroove SXT ($149) to the Bose SoundDock Portable ($359).

Bose

* Richer, deeper more robust sound. Truly is impressive.

* Touch volume buttons easier to push (vs. Klipsch mechanical buttons take a little force).

* Cord transformer part of the plug plus the cord can smartly be partially hidden in the transformer to let out only the amount of cord you want (vs. Klipsch transformer in the middle of the cord that clutters the countertop). Advantage Bose.

* Achieves louder volume (though Klipsch is pretty good too).

* Heavier unit, presumably a reflection of larger speaker magnets. (Both units have essentially the same countertop footprint but the Bose is taller.)

Klipsch

* Very good sound, but just not as impressive as the Bose.

* Exchangable docking port for various MP3 players (though the one-size-fits-all on the Bose works fine for my iPhone).

* Accepts the iPhone without a warning. (Annoyance of the Bose: it displays a warning message that it's not compatible with the iPhone even though it actually is.)

* Price.

Bottom Line:

If you have $149 to spend, buy the Klipsch and you'll be happy. If you have $359 to spend, buy the Bose and you'll be very happy.

If you know Klipsch like I know Klipsch, then you, of course, should not be surprised at the great sound. The bass is not exactly earth shaking, but with the type of music I'm currently listening to (Jazz, New Age, Alternative), it suits my bedroom just fine. I'm definitely hearing a wider range of sounds than before. The system itself is pretty small (a lot smaller than I expected) but with the nice sound coming out, I'm glad it's a space saver.

My main concern is the docking connector. When you dock the Ipod/Iphone, it is only held up by a small connector; your Ipod/Iphone is not thick enough to lean up against the wall of the slot for support. Therefore, when you use your Ipod/Iphone, it definitely jiggles and will eventually loosen the connector. My easy solution: I folded a piece of tissue for support! :-)

(Also, the volume switches on the speakers are hard to push, but the remote solves this concern.)

Hopefully the next edition of the iGroove will address this problem, but until then, I'm enjoying this Klipsch immensely.

We shopped for our ipod/iphone speakers very carefully. Tested brands at stores, read reviews on various websites, and a week prior to purchasing, were fortunate enough to have use of the Bose Wave System. I have the Altec Lansing In Motion speaker system from a few years back. Terrible. Really awful connection. I will say the Bose sounded excellent, but the price is prohibitive. Bose does a lot of advertising, has stores, info ads, etc..I know thats part of the cost. Klipsch, on the other hand, makes speakers, thats it. The sound of these speakers is on par with the Bose systems. Its a wonderful speaker system for the price. Works perfectly with all makes and models of ipods and iphone, no feedback at all. When running the iphone, you can use any number of internet and satellite radio apps available in the app store. All in all its an excellent product for the price. I would 100% recommend this to anyone looking for very good sound quality, but not looking to spend $200+ and I would purchase Klipsch products again for sure!

After upgrading my home stereo to a $7K home theater I began to enjoy my old music library in a new way. I'm no audiophile, but I'm now enjoying music listening a whole lot more. When I want to immerse myself in sound I head down to the basement to rock out.

Despite the big splurge, I'm still cheap. I hate spending more money than I have to. I started looking around for a decent iPhone speaker system for the kitchen where we spend most of our time, but I didn't want 4ft tall tower speakers and a big amp on the counter, I wanted something compact and that doesn't draw a ton of attention to itself. But also after hearing what good music could really sound like, I didn't want something that sounded plastic and hollow.

I was about to default to the Bose sound dockeven though I really hate paying that much just for name brand. I knew there had to be a good middle road. Everything else I could find was in the $50-150 range but sounded terrible. Until I tried this dock. Side by side the Bose has a deeper sound in a big open space, but if you're looking for a more neutral sound (ie you don't want everything to sound hip hop) this will sound better to you. 4 Separate drivers gives cleaner sound to my ear. Certainly, for the $100 I saved by not going with the Bose sounds good too. There is plenty of bass for a counter top unit. It plays plenty loud without distortion. We've had it about 6 months.

Obviously, if you're looking for the "best" sound, go get a real amp, real speakers and probably a sub. If you're looking for a simple compact counter unit that will do your music justice with clear treble and decent bass, but you don't want to spend $100 just on the name badge, this is a great choice.

Ok, Here's the Problem. First of all the Radio Tuner is not digital and it's manual... so you have turn the thing to find a station. Second, the quality of the speakers are not really good... they're bad! I've seen much better ones on these kind of devices! It's not pretty at all! It's old looking! BUT WORST OF ALL , is THE GOD D*MN Antenna!! It's a stupid wire that looks like a Very thin rope! YES! You heard me right! That makes the quality of the radio much worse! For the 3.5mm Jack in , you have to have a Wire , that has both 3.5mm Ends! So if you have that u can use it , if u don't u gotta buy one! I think You can get a Much better one if you pay a couple more dollars. I Paid $8.99 for this but now it's $6.00 ! so that's something to think about as well!

I purchased this Skylanders ipod clock radio for my son for Christmas. He was so excited but soon to be disappointed. The iHome stereo system is pretty good. It looks pretty and has some "wow" factor. I like it.

Lets go over the main features:

Charging: Charges very nice. Support for all the various i devices is provided by sticking different plastic plates in the dock. Its really important to use this white little plates because they keep you from putting too much strain on the 15 pin connector. Disappointingly, they did not include a white plate that is compatible with the iPhone 2G. Perhaps they are not aware that many adults pass down their old 2G iPhones to their kids for use as iPod Touch... I have done that and I know several other people who have done it as well. However, this isn't a big deal, its not advertised as including this plate, but rest assured that if your child is using an iPhone 2G as an iPod touch then they will not be able to use the charging feature of this device.

Speakers: The speakers performed well for what they are. In fact, I was modestly impressed. It has a port so you can plug in an external mp3 player and get the flashing lights and speakers, so if you have an iPhone 2g, well, thats how you would use it. They make a big deal about the Passive Subwoofer. I did some research on the internet to find out just what a "passive" subwoofer is. The iHome manufacturer website had nothing to say about this, in fact, the "tech specs" page only had the product dimensions (weak). The manual also had no specs (weak). The amazon "technical details" has no specs (weak). So really, we don't know what this passive subwoofer is, or the specs of this subwoofer. Maybe its just an "idea" and all you are really getting is a "subwoofery experience" (boo!).

The lights: The lights are nice. I like the fade mode where it cycles through the colors. They blink appropriately when you have a really strong back beat on a song and not much else. It works perfectly. But as soon as anything that is not a very clear beat or melody enters the music the iHome has something closer to an apoplectic fit. It starts blinking and stuttering and flashing with no real relation to the music. I'm sure its little firmware is trying to do something marvelous, but its not as cool as a disco ball. The lights do work without music, it can sit there and color shift all day without your i device plugged in. The lights were a little jerky to adjust, there are 5 settings, and sometimes its hard to know which setting you are on, or how long to hold the button. But my kids don't mind this. They like to fiddle with it. An adult will dislike the vagueness of the controls.

The box tells you to check out the iPhone app... That the item is "app enhanced". which seems to imply that the iPhone app will somehow help you get more out of your little disco light show. Well, not really. They do have a free iPhone alarm clock app, I downloaded it and tried it and the two are mutually exclusive items. It is true that its nice to have the alarm clock app but I couldn't see how the iHome app worked with the iP15 in any way. I think you should download the free app if you get this device, just don't expect the app+iP15 to do more than they do separately. The app is a nice touch, maybe I'm missing something...

One minor detail... I think that the iP15 is kinda ugly when its not glowing some color. Its a dingy blue-grey when turned off. It doesn't look as white as the Amazon picture shown on this page.

Overall I would say this would be a great gift for a girl. My daughters were very excited when it arrived. I doubt it would disappoint a teen.

Its really hard to say whether to give it 3 stars (its ok) or 4 stars (i like it). I'm going to settle in on 4 stars, as the kids who are the target market felt it was great. And isn't it their opinion that matters the most?

What I liked: compact, easy to use and set up, "decent" sound, inexpensive.

I picked this up not expecting the same type of sound from a higher end player. The sound is passable. If you want a great iphone/ipod type dock and expect a nice sounding system I would expect to pay in the two to three-hundred range. This is something you might use in a small room or out on the patio or in the garage. Definitely more of a trinket than a home music system.

It's very easy to set up, just plug and play. There are only four buttons: power, volume down, volume up, and color. There's no way to adjust any sound levels on the iHome iP15W. It also takes up very little space which I liked. The colors are ok, but most of the time I keep the colored lights off.

For the price I feel you get a fair value. The sound quality isn't going to impress anyone so don't look to buy this as your main sound system. But if it's a secondary music player then it's perfectly fine.

We checked this out at a discount store as we've been searching for a reasonably priced docking station for our 14 year old daughter for Xmas. Was very surprised by the decent sound quality. Much better than some of the other higher priced ones sitting next to it. We love bass and it performed better than expected. Color changing is pretty cool and I like the different settings. She's going to love it. Found it for $49.99 so look around!

UPDATE: Daughter loved it....worked for 10 months...now it's dead. Daughter very disappointed.

This ipod dock is just ok. On the plus side, kids seem to like the styling and the colors, although after the first few days, my kids rarely play around with the colors. It is a charger as well as a player, which is nice, because the kids don't have to be messing with the wall charger, or for the iTouch, plugging it into a computer.

The sound is fine and certainly sufficient for kids, but when I went back and forth between this dock and our other Phillips dock you could hear a huge difference. The sound on the iHome is much "fuzzier," for lack of a more technical term.

The biggest disadvantage of this dock is the inserts that should be placed around the connecter where it is docked. They are very difficult to get out once they are in, so if you have more than one device (such as an iPhone4 and and iTouch3) you are not going to be able to use them both on this dock if you use the insert without a big hassle. There is not really enough stability without the inserts in my opinion.. I'd be afraid of snapping off the connector or at least damaging it over time. An advantage of this product over some docks I would think is that it can fit an iPad (the one I recommend below would not), but we don't have an iPad, so this doesn't help me.

The biggest problem with using the inserts is that they do not accommodate a case. And seeing as how this is seemingly targeted to kids, generally kids should be using these devices with a skin or case. My kids have to pop the case off everytime they dock it, leaving it sitting on the furniture, and then remember to pop it on when they undock it.

To be honest, unless your kid is really obsessed with the lights, at this price, I'd recommend spending just a little more on the Philips Fidelio DS3000 Desktop Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone (White/Silver) which has excellent sound quality and is more stable and accommodates multiple devices.

I purchased this item for my daughter for Christmas. We were all absolutely amazed at the wonderful sound that comes out of this little thing! It also makes a nice little night light for her bedroom. You can turn the light off too. I really liked that feature too, so when she is gone, the lights do not have to be on. She has an ipod touch and it docks very easily. I have also used this for my iphone 4 to charge and play my music. Perfect! I highly recommend this item.

I have an iPhone 3G connected to my brand new Alpine iDA-X303 via the USB cable that comes in the box. Occassionally when I am on the road listening to music, the iDA-X303's audio cuts out for a 1/2 second or so randomly. Sometimes it won't happen for over an hour or two, sometimes it happens 3-4 times in 10 minutes. It is driving me absolutely insane and I am about ready to return my new stereo as a result.

I was hoping someone here would have some insights into why this unit is doing this. I did some research online and find others with the same problem (with the X200, X100, X001, etc.), which to me points to a flaw with the iDA series of stereos. Stereos from other companies like Pioneer that use a similar USB connection do not appear to have this issue as far as I can tell.

This really ticks me off since it appears that the issue has been happening for quite awhile, but Alpine continues to advertise the new iDA stereos are Made for iPhone certified. I do not know how this can be if an iPhone 3G has the audio cut out randomly on multiple generations of these units.

Was looking for a stereo to replace the stock one in my '96 Mustang. Wanted iphone/ipod capability and wasn't worried about having a cd player. This worked out really well. I installed it myself (small challenge as I'm not very technical), but once I read the instructions, it was pretty easy. One thing I've seen on Amazon is that it says most buy the ipod cord with it. It actually comes with the cord and a fairly long extension, so I wouldn't buy the extra cord unless you're sure you need it. As to the quality, it's definitely up to Alpine's standard. Playback through both the radio and my iphone sounds great and I've been using the Pandora app and it sounds great as well. Plenty loud, plenty of bass (It's running through the factory amp on the Mustang), and great clarity. Definitely recommend.

Was looking for a unit that could work well with iPhone and made a stop on this item. I'm a long time fan of Alpine products. And I love this iDA-X303 unit! Easy to control. Spaceship looks. This is actually my third iTrip that I have purchased (each for different iPods). I have always been very impressed with the two previous iTrips that I've used. The biggest surprise for this time was that I had expected the iTrip Nano to be a small, tube shaped devise that attached to the bottom of my Nano. To my surprise (and in contrast to the photos shown) the iTrip Nano actually is about the same size as my 2G Nano iPod and slides in up behind the device. At first I was a bit annoyed with the much larger than expected size, but after reading some reviews on the smaller FM transmitters, I changed my mind on the iTrip Nano,. Despite it's larger than expected size (which means I have to take my iPod out of its case every time I want to use the iTrip), the FM tuning strength is excellent. Ultimately, it is the sound quality that is the most important factor, not the overall size.

It look beauriful and fashionable on the ipod. But it takes time to get it to work correctly. The way you adjust the channels is a little bit confusing and not really intuitionistic. But people with normal IQ can figure it out at last. It's also a problem to figure out where to put it. In my car, it works the best on top of the control panel and below it. I put it in the box in front of the transmission stick. If you listen carefully, there's till a little bit of noise, but it's not disturbing. You can barely hear it when the music is playing. At last, it worth it.

The way the iPod fits into it is nice and neat. Not real obvious how to use it but once you figure it out it's fine (until you don't use it for awhile and have to figure it out all over again.) Unfortunately I mostly get static from it. I only wanted to use this for audiobooks and not music so I wasn't looking for great sound quality acceptable would have been acceptable. I don't know if the airwaves are too busy where I live (didn't think so) or it's just a lame device. I have to fiddle around with positioning it in different places to get intelligible sound at all.

I have a cheap tape adapter that has a little hiss but really works a whole lot better than this and I think that's a better option if you have a tape deck. I only got this because one of our cars doesn't.

The Griffin iTrip for the 2nd Gen Ipod has a very attractive design and if not the most sleek design compared to any other FM transmitters in the market. But that is where all the pro's end for this item. Its also the main reason I purchased as well, mainly for the looks.

This transmitter is powered by the ipod's battery power and I feel that its not enough for the transmitter to send out a strong signal. I live in NYC and this gets overpowered very very easily. Also every time I grab or move it slightly in my car it loses reception and emits lots of static noise.

The sound quality is very poor as well, you can still hear lots of static in the background and sounds worse the my AM stations in my state.

The quick fix to all the static and low transmitter power is by connecting a usb car charger to the iTrip. This gives enough power for the iTrip to emit strong signals and charge your ipod as well. But this kind of ruined the entire point of having such a sleek FM transmitter that was easy to carry around.
