Bought this for the simple and less complex features. Clock is extremely easy to set time and alarm, additionally it is a nice size for smaller bedside night stands (but not too small).

I primarily needed a small clock for my bedside table. The fact that this has a radio is a bonus but not a feature that I use a lot. However, I am pleased with the clock. It keeps excellent time and the time is easily read at night without being too bright. I have tried several other clock radios and found the lighting to be too bright or not bright enough. The radio works well although, as mentioned above, it has seen little use.

Way too small and the radio doesn't seem to be able to clearly tune into or a hold a station. This a very unreliable for an alarm that you depend on to wake you up for work.

I'm extremely happy with this phone. I have owned it for almost a month now. The menus are very responsive and the display is crystal clear and very high definition and more colors. The "free" RAZR that came with my plan is still sitting in the box -doesn't compare.

I have added 1GB of memory using SD micro flash. So can definitely be used as a mp3 player. But you would need to get a NOKIA -> headphone adapter plug from third party vendor. Or you can use speaker on the phone in a pinch.

The camera takes great pictures as long as the lighting conditions are good. The menus have many options for customizing the phone (though some of these options are somewhat hidden from the casual user further down the menu tree).

The speaker independent voice recognition seems to pull up the correct name most of the time or give several to choose from in some cases.

I really like the flip phone button that opens the phone, so you can open it with one hand. It works very reliably and the spring has the right tension.

The keypad is lit and easy to see in darkness. Due to the high contrast and brightness of the display it seems to consume some battery power. On standby the phone can be on for many days if not used, otherwise you would need to charge every other day if you use features that keeps the display turned on for long periods of time (editing notes/organizer etc.).

Ok, so the nokia 6131 I must say is a phone that I like to call a "sleeper." It does not look like much, but when You go to use it, it is a different story. First off, the camera is very cool. I have had some issues using it in low light situations, the pics become grainy, but over all it is very cool. The push button flip works just as you would expect it too. In regards to computer compatibility, I am a heavy Mac User. According to Apple, this phone was not suppose to be compatible, but that was an easy fiix. Allowing syncing of all my contact info. and calanders. In regards to the menus, they very responsive, and very quick. The internal and external display are extreamly high quality, and very crisp. For bluetooth compatability, I have had no issues. I previously owned a RAZR and for bluetooth options, this phone blows my old razr out of the water. You have the option of uploading new themes (which are easy to find or make) you can upload ringtones, pics, what ever. And the data transfer is much quicker then my RAZR. I would highly recommend this phone to any user. It is by far the best phone that I have used.

Pros: High res. screens, quickness of menus, BT, Camera, push button flip, speaker is loud.

Cons: Unlocked from Europe comes with bulky euro charger (not a big deal.) And the only thing that I would say is that the battery life is somthing to be desired. I use BT allot and I end up having to charge my phone every one to two days.

This is a great everyday use phone. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the newer Nokia phones, like integrated WiFi (with VoIP integration) and GPS, but it does very well what is designed to do. I use this phone with T-Mobile with their unlimited Internet plan (using EDGE).

Pros:

The build quality and materials chosen are top notch. The plastic cover doesn't look and feel cheap, like many other (some expensive) phones out there. I like the fine leathery touch of the battery cover, which provides a good grip of the phone in the hand.

The internal screen is large, with plenty of pixels and colors. Most of the apps look very well. With Google Maps for example it's very easy to read and discern the details.

The phone' sound quality is superb. The earpiece is very clear, and the microphone and voice processing hardware inside the phone makes the other side hear you clearly. The loudspeaker is fairly good too, although I'm not using it very often.

The Bluetooth software stack is perfectly compatible. My car's Bluetooth implementation is very picky and works only a handful of selected phones. The Nokia 6131 phone is not listed as a compatible phone for BMW M3, but it works just fine with it, while the fancier and more expensive Nokia N80ie phone does not.

The included radio is pretty cool when you're bored, although it requires the included proprietary headset to work (it uses it as antena).

Google Maps and GMail work excellent on this phone. They don't come with the device, but they're just a download away from Google.

The phone's camera does a fairly decent job with well lit shots. It also takes videos, which is pretty cool for a phone. Just don't expect the camera to replace your point and shoot or DSLR.

The ability to use MP3s as regular ring tones is a huge bonus. No more buying ridiculously expensive ring tones from your phone company, when you already own the music. Just take the song you want, edit out a 30 second portion of it that is suitable as a ring tone, convert it to MP3 and upload it on your phone. You could assign different ring tones to different people, so you can recognize who's calling you.

The phone now has MacOS X compatibility, with the latest 10.4.9 release. It synchronizes your address book over Bluetooth without any problems, including the people's pictures. When somebody calls you, his/her picture appears on the external display. The picture is scaled up however, making it look a bit ugly. I guess Apple needs to allow for higher resolution pictures to be set in AddressBook.

Cons:

As many other Nokia phones, the phone cannot use a regular headset, it only works with the proprietary Nokia headset. This is understandable, as the headset is stereo, and doubles as an antenna. It would be nice however to have an extra plug for regular headsets.

The package does not include a MicroSD card. Not too bad, they are quite cheap, but you should be aware of this if you decide to buy the phone.

The camera shutter button is on a side, and it's very easy to press it accidentally while the phone is in your pocket.

Setting up T-mobile Internet on the phone could be a pain. You could find instructions online by googling a bit, but it's not the same smooth "just works" experience as on the N80ie.

Overall, I think this a great phone for everyday use. It is replacing an aging Motorola phone, and so far it's been a refreshing change. I highly recommend this phone.

I didn't realize about the size of the buttons until I got it, I have big fingers and it's difficult for me to use a telephone with tiny buttons, with this one, problem solved, big buttons, big screen, big memory.

Very good camera resolution, 1.3 M, I think it is enough for a Cell Phone if you want more quality in your pictures use a Camera.

The screen resolution is incredible.

The FM radio, Bluetooth, IR and MP3 are some valuables in this telephone.

I neever saw a telephone with an "open flip button" this is very comfortable, and helps you to open it with one hand.

The problem, the camera button is outside and you can activate it accidentaly.

I've used the Nokia 6131 phone for 2 months, it has a great feature set and I initially thought it'd be a good phone beware of reviews posted after only a few days of use.

Battery life is abysmal. With bluetooth, etc. enabled, initially I was getting about 1.5 days of useful life. After 2 months, with bluetooth disabled and all power saving features set the phone won't last 24 hrs between charges.

The phone will not work with a dead battery even when plugged into the charger. You must wait until the battery has sufficient charge before the phone can be used. And charge time is slow charging while driving 45 min daily did not get or keep the phone fully charged. You'll need to plug it in to the charger every night.

Unlike other phones this phone does not charge when connected via the USB cable. And the USB cable is proprietary you cannot use a standard mini-USB.

The Nokia-proprietary stereo headset left earbud stopped working after 2 weeks. The radio and mp3 player do not support a bluetooth headset (mine is mono not sure if a stereo bluetooth headset would work). So for me, no NPR or audiobook MP3s on the bluetooth headset.

The lid of the phone presses the "0" button when very little pressure is applied. Take it out of your pocket and you'll have to clear the "000000000"'s before dialing. Oh yeah those 0's also took your phone out of its power-saving sleep mode and consumed valuable battery life while you were not using it.

The flip-button is neat but I handed my phone to a friend to call home, didn't tell him about the button and when he opened it without the button crack, the cheap-o latch broke. It should have been designed to work ok for the button-uninitiated.

I've had great success with other Nokia phones but this one is a failure. I expect they'll get flip phones right at some point but I'll be using another brand until then.

I bought this for a Christmas present for my husband. We have a basic bass boat and just wanted some music for fishing and what not...He installed this and it works awesome! He loves it too. This radio works great in my pontoon! I was expecting a $100 radio and what I got was something much more! I am very impressed with how well this radio works. First off the speakers said they were rated at 50 watts. When I got them I noticed stamped on the back of the speaker was 20w. Sure enough after I hooked them up they sounded tiny and distorted quickly. I do not see how this is a marine grade radio either. All they did was wrap it in black tape which you end up popping a hole in when you take it out of the sleeve with the puller tool. The is not a power constant so I lose all my settings every time I turn it off. Not to mention every time I turn it on it ejects the CD. Falsely advertised because it is CHEAP. You might as well by cheap speakers and stereo that are not marine grade and they will be of better quality than this and will probably be more durable.

If I was looking for sound quality I would pick a different venue. Installation was simple if you have any skills at all. I listen to music/audio through my Droid X either from my SD card via the USB or from numerous apps such as pandora. When playing music from apps though, you have to connect a 3.5mm jack between your device and the deck. Also found that the charging feature only maintained my battery rather than recharge it. In other words, if you hook it up with a half charged battery, I found it kept it at half charged and didn't drain any further. That could be because the smart phones use a considerable amount of power running music, apps, and communications/data. A simple IPOD or MP3 player, or lesser phone might charge just fine. I would buy again. It is perfect for my recreational use while fishing or just cruising around. Radio-Controlled Travel Alarm

Just about to buy a replacement of this product, after the dog got ahold of it and chewed it. I'm not going to look for any other product, I will just order this item again. I have carried this little travel alarm every week for the last 4 years, from time zone to time zone and couldn't be happier with it. It adjusts, automatically every time.

I bought this primarily for my SUV. The factory-installed stereo came with a clock that was easy to read day or night, but the replacement stereo had a clock that's impossible to read when the sun is out. This clock has an LCD display, so the sunnier it gets, the easier it is to read. And when I'm travelling, I can just grab it and take it into the hotel with me at night.

The clock sets automatically, just as advertised. This sits inside my SUV, which is parked inside a garage with a bonus room above, and it receives the "atomic signal" with no problems. The description is a little misleading when it comes to time zones. You do have to manually change the time zone as you travel; this unit doesn't have a built-in GPS and doesn't know what time zone it is located in. This is easily done and not a drawback. I like it a lot, and recommend it.

This travel alarm does all I would expect of it as described by other reviewers. However, I noted when I bought the clock that one of the reviews mentioned an "excellent blue electroluminescent display". To me, that indicated that the clock had a "backlit" (or "back light") screen display. No so! This clock (currently, on 1/30/11) has a display that is lit by a white LED bulb from the right margin of the screen. What's the difference? A backlit screen is evenly lit over the entire display and results in the digital clock numbers having a high/increased contrast to the display background. A clock (such as this one) with a white LED side light display causes the digital clock numbers to fade (have a very low contrast) with respect to the display background. That doesn't make any difference during the daylight hours, but at night (in the dark); the display appears very faded when trying to check the time. I am far sighted, and the time display is impossible for me to read at night in a dark room using only the white led light that shines from right to left across the display. I could possibly read it with a flashlight, or by locating my glasses and putting them on to check the time, but that is usually not what one want to be doing when trying to fall back to sleep at (e.g.) 3:00 AM. Too bad the LA CROSSE Company did not make these clocks with a backlit display. The technology to do this has been around for many years. My last travel alarm was purchased from Radio Shack many years ago and (with its backlit display) I never had a problem checking the time at night. Because of the faded night time display on this clock, I would not recommend it to others. This is especially true if, like me, you are far sighted and have to wear glasses for "near" viewing. I was eager to receive this alarm clock and it arrived quickly. I had a bit of trouble setting it up at first and actually had to read the manual -unusual for me! The clock set up is not totally intuitive the way I prefer electronic devices to be, but I did manage to set it up properly without much pain.

The clock does everything right. The only limitation is likely due to the fact that the radio time signal isn't available world wide. So you are only able to set time zones for a 12-hour range, not 24 hours for all 24 time zones. Even in Europe I could not set the clock to CET directly. Turns out that's not a major problem. I just left the time zone set to US ET, where I live, and changed the time to 6 hours later. It worked just fine.

Upon returning from Europe I took the clock out of my bag and noticed it had set itself back to the current US ET time correctly. Nice!

I especially like being able to give the clock a small push at night and see the time and alarm time lit by the back light. The same action sets the 5or 10-minute snooze function if you choose to enable that at all. All in all this clock is great.

I've had this iPod docking station for a couple of years, and it's probably one of the best purchases I've made. I don't know why people buy bargain speakers and expect theatre quality sound, but they do. Don't make that mistake with this unit. It will pump up the volume (exactly what I need!) but this is not a surround sound Dolby THX'ed Wonderdock. It's a clock radio with a place to dock your iPod so that you can play it and charge it at the same time.

I frequently move this between a couple of rooms, and I've dropped it more than once. I've also spilled stuff on it, and it works the same as it did when I took it out of the box the day I bought it. I don't use the clock or alarm, so I can't really comment on how well that functions, but the buttons appear to be pretty straightforward and easy to understand if I wanted to start. I occasionally listen to a local radio station on it, and I have no issues with reception.

There's a place in the bottom for a couple of AAA batteries in case of a power outage, and in the back there are in & out aux outlets, along with a "video out" port. I've never used the ports, but it does appear to be a versatile dock. There's also a switch in the back to turn doiwn the brightness of the clock display. The display is VERY bright at night and could double as a night light. I find the brightness disturbing to my sleep even at the low setting and stuck a label over it since I don't use the clock portion anyway.

The design is very sleek and modern looking, sure to go well with most decor, and it looks nice on a dresser (if you haven't spilled something on it like I have!). For the durability, sound quality, volume output, and apparent multi-functionality, I don't think there's a lot out there that can surpass this iPod dock. It's an excellent little workhorse for someone like me who plays their iPod 24/7, needs the volume output and is a little bit clumsy. I think overall it will please most users.

I bought this clock because I wanted an inexpensive alarm clock that would play my iPod. My lamp fell over onto it, not enough force to damage the lamp mind you, and the thing has not worked properly since. It will not display the time if the radio is on, and it will not show the radio station number when I try to set the station.

I could deal with the previous issue and probably would not have written a complaint about it. However, this clock is VERY BRIGHT! Even set on the low setting, it is still much to bright and disturbs my sleep. I've resorted to throwing a shirt over the clock to block the light at night.

The first time I saw this item, it really caught my eye. I liked that you could turn it on its side to watch a movie! And I really just liked the look of the machine itself!! It's nice and compact so you can put it on your night stand or desk and for get it's there. I'll be starting college in a couple weeks and I'm moving into a dorm, so the smaller the better. There's only two cons I can come up with. 1. It really bites that there's no "Next" or "Last track" buttons on the machine though. You have to use the Ipod to change songs. 2. I ordered this after receiving the previous non iphone compatable version as a gift. I wanted a small unit for my office at work. It comes with some plastic inserts for docking different versions of ipods which I didn't use. I can connect and charge my first gen Iphone without removing the silicon rubber style case I use. There is a little battery indicator on the front that looks like the iphone charge indicator, but it's actually for the units battery backup, not an indicator of the iphones charge. It will turn sideways for watching video,(a nice feature I probably wont use) and still stay connected.

The sound is good but not great, I believe it's just a single speaker and this may be the reason for my one con; it doesn't fill a space with sound at low volume very well, which is how I use it at work, I think stereo units are better for low volume play. The remote is well designed, and controls the ipod app nicely.

I'm not sure I would use it as an alarm clock as even though the snooze & reset buttons are on the top of the speaker, I could see myself banging the Iphone when reaching for it, which might not be good as it sort of just balances on the plug, without a back-rest of any sort.

If size is your first priority this is a good choice, its not much bigger than a typical PC speaker. If stereo sound quality is your priority you might want to consider a unit with multiple speakers.

There are two different versions of this product. One only works with the iPod and one works with both the iPod and iPhone. We have the iPhone 3G and it works perfectly. It is great because you can tilt it to the side and watch your videos. I keep mine on my nightstand and I LOVE that the light can be on one of 3 different settings or turned off. I do have to laugh that the there is a remote that activates the snooze button. I won't be needing that, but I suppose somebody might. I would recommend this product if you need something on your nightstand to charge your iPhone that has an alarm and will also play your music and videos. I put a lot of TV shows on my iPhone so I really love the rotating feature of this product.

-small size. Even compared to regular alarm clock/radio combos out there, it's smaller than most of them though it's taller.

-cool design. Especially with the iPod on, and the display on it's highest brightness setting, this is one cool looking set.

-iHome+sleep app. This free downloadable app let's you customize your nap/wakeup schedule with customizable music selection, and paired with iHome+radio, can play internet radio to wake you up. (ihome+radio app costs $2 btw)

-big sound. For it's small size, this can get loud, and it would take one really, really heavy sleeper unable to wake up to the music it plays at the loudest setting. This can double as a speaker dock, especially with the unit turned sideways so you can blast the sound while watching a movie file on the iPod. I wouldn't use it to host a party, but it works as a background noise for a small office. It even has a special expanded bass sound, which works fine.

-backup battery for the alarm clock. Though some alarm clock/radios come with this feature, some don't, so it's worth mentioning. I had a bad power outage when the power went out with a hurricane, and though the speaker/iPod didn't work (needed AC power) the alarm clock woke me up with its default sound setting.

-display. Big and bright, you can adjust the brightness so it won't bother you while you try to go to sleep, but visible enough to see the clock at the wee hours with your eyes half closed and not awake yet.

-Daylight savings adjustment. There is a switch on the back to +/1 hour, so if you think it's a hassle to change the hours twice a year, this is a great feature.

-aux-in port. Though I haven't tried it, with an audio-out cable, you could play other sources of audio. Can't say there's many clock radios with this feature.

-recharges your iPod. It won't sync your iPod, but it will recharge it!

Cons:

-no radio.

-small buttons/lack of some options. The snooze button is right in front of the iPod dock and it's quite small for an alarm clock. So chances are, if you are trying to get some more sleep, you might have to try pushing that button a couple of times. Also, any navigation you have to do for your music/media files are done only by the iPod, so that can be a minus. There is only play/pause button for that on the alarm clock/speaker unit itself.

-one speaker. While the sound is loud, there is only one speaker. So don't expect the audio quality of a Bose clock radiobut then again, you could probably buy three to five of these for one Bose!

Conclusion: At the price range, it's a very solid clock radio/speaker set. A radio would've been nice, and more accessibility features too, and a stereo sound, but all that would've made this unit more pricier, bigger and expensive. Most importantly, I haven't had a day where I overslept (so far) so it certainly works!
