We have had this docking station for at least 2 years. I use it mainly for parties and for tunes in the backyard during the summer while I was caring for the plants or watching the kids play. I also used it daily in the summer while I hung our clothes out to dry.

I was very pleased with the service of a decently priced item. It added not so loud background music while we held parties. It was also loud enough that I could wander around our backyard and still hear the music.

I would recommend this speaker station to anyone.

I've had my alarm clock for a couple of years now (3 in December). It was also a Christmas present. Now, let me say first that the other reviewer is correct. I do wish I could dim the brightness of the clock display, but simply turning it towards the wall lessens the glare.

For such a small player, it's a little giant. I've never had any issues with the sound quality or the radio sound. It works just fine.

If you're looking for a great alarm clock that will play and charge your iPod, then this is a great purchase. I would gladly recommend this product to another person who was looking to get a decent radio clock without busting their bank account.

My oh-so-thrify husband got this for me for Christmas and while I'm aware it's the thought that counts, the product really stinks. The sound is crappy to put it bluntly. Very cheap. Sounds like an old transitor radio from when I was a kid. I put it next to the bed and plugged it in. When we went to bed that night, I turned off the lamp and the whole bedroom glowed blue from the clock display. It is soooooo bright!!! Plus, when I look at it at night, the display is so bright I can't see the time without waking up enough to get my glasses and really focus on the display. It's really a pain. I've been covering the display at night so I can sleep, which defeats the purpose of having a clock in the room. There is no dimmer on the display either. Do not waste your money. I would have rated this even lower if I could. Yesit was fairly easy to use but not any moreso than any other clock radio. I do not recommend this at all!

I've had this iPod docking station for a couple of years, and it's probably one of the best purchases I've made. I don't know why people buy bargain speakers and expect theatre quality sound, but they do. Don't make that mistake with this unit. It will pump up the volume (exactly what I need!) but this is not a surround sound Dolby THX'ed Wonderdock. It's a clock radio with a place to dock your iPod so that you can play it and charge it at the same time.

I frequently move this between a couple of rooms, and I've dropped it more than once. I've also spilled stuff on it, and it works the same as it did when I took it out of the box the day I bought it. I don't use the clock or alarm, so I can't really comment on how well that functions, but the buttons appear to be pretty straightforward and easy to understand if I wanted to start. I occasionally listen to a local radio station on it, and I have no issues with reception.

There's a place in the bottom for a couple of AAA batteries in case of a power outage, and in the back there are in & out aux outlets, along with a "video out" port. I've never used the ports, but it does appear to be a versatile dock. There's also a switch in the back to turn doiwn the brightness of the clock display. The display is VERY bright at night and could double as a night light. I find the brightness disturbing to my sleep even at the low setting and stuck a label over it since I don't use the clock portion anyway.

The design is very sleek and modern looking, sure to go well with most decor, and it looks nice on a dresser (if you haven't spilled something on it like I have!). For the durability, sound quality, volume output, and apparent multi-functionality, I don't think there's a lot out there that can surpass this iPod dock. It's an excellent little workhorse for someone like me who plays their iPod 24/7, needs the volume output and is a little bit clumsy. I think overall it will please most users.

I bought this clock because I wanted an inexpensive alarm clock that would play my iPod. My lamp fell over onto it, not enough force to damage the lamp mind you, and the thing has not worked properly since. It will not display the time if the radio is on, and it will not show the radio station number when I try to set the station.

I could deal with the previous issue and probably would not have written a complaint about it. However, this clock is VERY BRIGHT! Even set on the low setting, it is still much to bright and disturbs my sleep. I've resorted to throwing a shirt over the clock to block the light at night.

This is a great system by Yamaha. I already have a Bose Wave radio and a Cambridge Soundworks tabletop. I was on the verge of purchasing another Cambridge Soundwork unit for my place in FL as i prefer it over the Bose. I noticed that too many consumer reviews stated that the system was constantly breaking down which made me look for other systems. The Tivoli with a CD player and IPOD dock was way too expensive and a couple other brands i knew either didnt sound great or had bad reviews. I somehow stumbled onto the Yamaha desktops and mini systems. I had no idea Yamaha was in this market but I was instantly intriqued as all of my home audio is Yamaha and I would never purchase anything else. I ordered the mini system MCR-040. I was under the impress the speakers were attached to the system but that was not the case.Plus it was a little too big for what i needed. But i can tell you the sound was incredible and I would purchase if it fit my needs. I then found the desk tops and decided to go with the TSX-112 as it was the newest product and was compatible with the most recent Ipod Docs. I decided to go with the TSX-112 over the sleeker TSX-130 because i could get it in red and due to the fact it was new and compatible with new ipods. As for the sound of the TSX-112 it is excellent. The larger speakers and subs can fill a large room with plenty of clear sound. I would say the sound is better than the bose and at the least on par with Cambridge soundworks as they are also a basey system. The system looks great in red and really pops out in the room. I do wish it was a little thinner like the TSX-130 but its still relatively small and packs a punch. I am considering buying another one for my home.

There are lots of desk-shelf top all in one cd/ipod/radio players on the market. Cambridge, Boston Acoustics, Tivoli, and Bose all are players in this popular entertainment category. Having said that, I must tell you the Yamaha TSX-112 desktop audio player is a unit that should be given strong consideration. The unit is well built, and encased in a solid wood frame. The sound is easily on par with the Bose wave system, and unlike the Bose that requires a separate ipod connector to the auxillary port, the Yamaha unit has it built in on top, along with the cd port. At almost 1/2 the price of the Bose unit with the optional ipod dock, the Yamaha TSX is without question a best buy in this category. The speakers provide a deep sound with exceptional bass for a mini unit. The AM and FM reception is about as good as can be expected, and reception quality will of course be contingent on system placement in the house. Poorest reception I found to be in the basement, but I basically use it for music, so it is a non-issue for me. The unit comes in several colors, so I can only say that the traditional black is a sharp looking player. Tivoli, Bose, and BA, can all take you to the $500plus range, so before making that investment, try out the yamaha TSX, and see and hear for yourself, the sound quality that comes out of this unit. The included remote is simple to use, and controls every facet of the unit, including the cd, ipod, and radio. I could not be happier with this new entry into the mini desk top market, and has worked exactly as advertised.

I have been listening to this desktop system for about three weeks now and I am a bit disappointed in the sound of this unit. The bass is flat and not very rich and the highs are not that great either. I have owned several Yamaha receivers over the years so I thought this item would be a safe bet. I own a Bose Wave CD/Radio with the additional iPod dock for my bedroom and was a little sick of that setup, and wanted a device that I could drop in the iPod and iPhone while in my home office. I thought about the Cambridge Soundworks but my current one has had so many software/operating issues that I would not recommend that unit to anyone.

In fairness to Yamaha I have yet to find a drop-in iPod dock that really produces great sound. The best is the Bose but you have to spend the extra $100.00 for a stand-alone dock and add extra wires to your setup. Extra wires seem to be a Bose trade off which is why I got rid of my Lifestyle Systemtoo many wires! This Yamaha unit does seem to produce better sound when playing CDs however most folks are looking to get away from CDs or they wouldn't have an iPod/iPhone.

The bottom line is this is just an okay unit. I would be really mad if I hadn't gotten it for a great price due to a sale and some accumulated American Express points. This unit is not worth the original asking price in my opinion. Try to get it on sale if you really want it.

My knowledge of music is quite limited. My understanding of the science of sound reproduction and transmission is even more limited. I feel embarrassedly dumb in writing this review. But for me, the Yamaha TSX-112RE produces a gorgeous sound in playing CDs and using the radio function of the Desktop Audio. Better than 1/2 the time I play music, I listen to classical music, and classical music when drawn from the Desktop Audio is awesome. And the red color in a huge master bedroom actually works.

Ordered this product as I thought the BOSE was too expensive. This machine is exactly what I wanted and I like it better than the BOSE. It has the I Pod docking station as well as the USB port, AM/FM and the CD player and a remote all in one. Love it in my kitchen, it doesn't take up a lot of room on my counter, looks great in white and the sound is awesome for a small unit. Don't care for the AM antenna but I don't use it so not an issue. Would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a small, great sounding bookshelf unit for casual music listening around the house, great for the bedroom also as it has the alarm feature.
