Well I just installed it today and for the price it is a great stereo. The installation manual was no help, oh wait thats right ,there WASN'T ONE! You'll have to just go off of your old stereo and just match up color to color. After it was all hooked up the DVD had no picture because of the safety in it so you can't watch a movie while you drive. So again with no installation manual it was trial and error to get the picture to come up, was finally able to figure it out. In the source menu there are alot of options, such as bluetooth, but I couldn't figure it out! There is a Mic on the front of the stereo, but have not been able to get the bluetooth function to work. If there is no bluetooth function then don't put a bluetooth function icon in the menu. Other than that the picture quality for the DVD is great and the sound quality is excellent! Overall it is a great buy.

Ok first off im no professional by no means in car audio, but i know how to put wires together, and i do consider myself a professional in sound related items. So I feel plenty qualified to review this car dvd player stereo crap box.

1st grip bought from amazon which i LOVE and always will continue to shop but they dropped the ball here they have no record of me purchasing this so i cant return it. but that is forgiven.

second this has HORRIBLE sound quality. all bass no treble or mid. and before you say anything i was so happy with my sony gtx before i moved it to another vehicle.

after playing with the buttons noticed that the wires that were supplied with unit that are color coded AND clearly LABELED are completely wrong(ie plus of right front and +of left rear were together labeled as left front +/-)

after serveral painstaking hours of trial and error im left with still horrible sound.

now I have 4 iphones in my house hold (1st gen, 3gs,4,4s) and with every one when i plug in supplied iphone cable there is this ground loop style hiss. and half the time they dont read.

radio tuner is subpar but cant complain

aux in is a joke you cant adjust levels at all

factory EQ settings are a joke also

blue tooth is non exsistant with unit

cd quiltiy is subpar also

the display controls are bulky and very out of date for such a new unit.

touch panel freezes frequently

very cartoonish icons and sucH

I was reading on another site review and someone said it looked like it would fit in as a prop of nightrider

all in all bad unit. knew i was taking a chance when i bought i, didnt realize that the unit sucks so bad

PYLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT TECHS ARE EXTREMELY RUDE, LIE AND INSULT YOU OVER THE PHONE. Used to think pyle was ok now im never buying another product again!

Great stereo for the price. Decent picture and sound. But when attached to ipod, there is a substantial amount of background noise and could def use a few extras, like some sort of visualization to accompany the music.

What can I say.... Well it works like it should, picture is very clear and crisp, sound is GREAT

oh yeah, it is made by Pyle yes and it is pretty nice for the price being under 200 bucks.

I also bought the koolertron backup camera, SWEEEEET it was 18 bucks here on amazon . The only thing the manual does not tell you about a few wires and where they go or what they do??/

such as IR in, A/D A/D grnd, and the reverse wire.

I did not use any of those and the unit is great right out of the box. Packing was good too.

If I had another vehicle that did not already have a in dash dvd player I would buy another.

for great sounds and playing vids or even if you wanted to hook up a game system you can, as it has audio and video inputs.

I bought this for my 86 year old Mother. She could not read it at all and I could barely make out the numbers even when I tilted it to get the most visible angle. It cost me shipping to send it back but it was worthless to keep it. I read the bad reviews but took a chance and am now sorry I did. I think Amazon needs to drop items like this that get consistent low ratings so as not to tarnish their reputation.

It works fine but comes without adapter. For the price you pay 6V adapter should be included. Reading screen is not convenient. You can read at certain angle in certain position only.

Altec Lansing M202 Dual-Charging iPod Dock

Altec Lansing M202 Dual-Charging iPod Dock
  • Dual docking/charging speaker system
  • Fits neatly in tight spaces like corners and kitchen counters
  • Full-feature remote
  • Built-in USB port lets you charge a third device
  • Listen without interference, shielded for mobile phones

The Altec Lansing M202 is a neat, convenient little speaker dock, with surprisingly okay sound for a very small unit. Its strong points are its size -much tinier than you'd think from the photos, easy to tuck into a corner of a bedside table or a shelf -and the dual docks, allowing it to be home base for a couple's iPhones or one person's phone and iPod. The unit is straightforward and simple to operate, even without the free custom app (which is a nice touch). But the quality of its construction is surprisingly cheap considering the price; it's a flimsy, lightweight plastic speaker enclosure, with unattractive, cheap cloth permanently fixed over the speakers, and there are some obvious assembly problems like misaligned seams. (Also note that, though the unit does work with the iPhone 4, it only includes plastic dock shims for the 3G/3Gs and the iPod Touch; other iPod and iPhone models can only be docked loosely. It's a weird oversight considering the near-zero cost of these plastics.)

The sound quality is fine, even good for such a small unit, but not miraculous. Given that the unit is built around two very, very small (approx. 2.5") drivers stuck in a lightweight ported plastic enclosure, the sound it puts out is, unsurprisingly, very light on bass and tends to be almost painfully bright on some music. I found this a particular problem listening to jazz -Miles Davis's trumpet was so bright, almost tinny, that it completely overpowered the rest of his band -while guitar-based rock came out much better, sounding almost as well-rounded as it would on a larger stereo system. Podcasts and vocals are a good fit for this unit, but I wouldn't even want to try listening to hip-hop on something this bass-deficient.

So, this is a nice enough product just on its merits, but its price is a problem. The M202 is stuck in no-man's-land at this price point. Despite the convenience of its dual docks, this speaker dock is caught between, on the one hand, much cheaper units that are about as good as it, and on the other, only slightly more expensive ones that are much, much better. If you want a speaker dock primarily in order to listen to music, there are many others to consider first: units such as the SpeckTone Retro or the Yamaha PDX-30 are competitively priced, better-constructed, and produce far better sound. For light vocal listening and bedside convenience, you can get any of a hundred products of similar flimsy-plastic construction quality, for much less than the price of this unit, that still won't sound too much worse. Unless you have a specific need for the dual iPhone/iPod docks, the M202 is probably not the best value for your money, even though it's a perfectly nice, compact, convenient unit.

[Update: I'm revising my rating down to 2 stars after living with the unit for several more months. Despite the manufacturer's claim that the unit is shielded, loud, pulsing cellular interference has been a recurrent problem with an iPhone docked in the M202. And the endless reminders to install the dock-specific app every time the phone is re-docked are a real annoyance.]

The Altec Lansing "M202 Dual Charging iPod Dock" is a clever idea but it's not really for audiophiles. I had high hopes for this since we have several versions of the Touch and a Nano in the house at any given time.

This dock does allow two iPods to be connected and it is indeed convenient to have a charger that it can handle all of them, as well as play from any of the connected devices, but the sound quality isn't really all that good and the required app for the iTouch\iPhone to mix the played music is of limited value for us since I don't really want any of my kid's playlist on at the same time as mine (significant difference in music tastes).

Setup of the unit was fairly straight forward and required the use of the standard iPod seating adapters (we used the Nano and Touch bases). The remote is very basic and worked well.

What I really didn't like was the quality of the music for my classical and jazz music since it comes out somewhat "tinny", but classic rock is fairly good.

After several months of use, we have relegated this for use as a charging station.

I am very impressed with this product. For something so relatively inexpensive the depth and range of the sound coming out of it rivals more expensive systems from Bose and other top end manufacturers. The speaker system works with just about any iPod, iPod Touch, and iPhone made over the last nine years. And as most of us now have more than one of these i devices, it supports charging (and playback) of two devices simultaneously.

Altec Lansing also has two apps in the iTunes store that are compatible with the system. The first is an alarm clock app that will trigger playback through the speaker system at a specified time. It's a nice looking app, but as with all third party applications if the app isn't running in the foreground the alarm won't go off. Definitely not for mission critical wake-up calls!

The second app, called "music mix," streams music from both players that are plugged into the speaker system. A simple interface allows for distributing playback from one device over the other i.e. it can be set to play music 70% of the time from one iPod, 30% from the other. It also provides feedback as to the charging status of both. My only gripe is that if the mix app is not installed, your iPhone or iPod Touch will continually demand that it be installed for proper operation. Given that that the speaker system works just fine without the app, I don't see why they are so insistent on it being installed.

That gripe aside, this is an impressive low cost speaker system that delivers great sound. A great gift idea!

I bought this a couple of days ago to use with the Ipod touch 4G. I was concerned that this dock/speaker wouldn't work with the 4th gen Itouch since the 4th gen is not listed as compatible on the speaker box. But it seems to work fine. I like the small footprint and the fact that it can charge two Ipods simultaneously. The remote fits nicely at the back of the dock and is easily accessible when needed.

It can fill a medium sized room with sound quite easily. The only "negative" from my perspective is the inability to control bass/treble independently on the speakers.

I own three iPods but had no speakers for them until I ordered this product. I didn't necessarily think I needed something to charge two of them at once (and three using the USB port), but I did want the speakers since there are places in the house with only minimal setups for music.

Because I listen to music on my computer while I'm in my office and have a full-fledged stereo in the living room, I placed the dock in my bedroom, where I had had no way of listening to the iPods other than through headphones. That placement gave me a good opportunity to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the unit.

First the pluses. I don't pretend to be an audiophile, but I do like good speakers for my computer, so any old cheapies won't do, and the speakers in this unit seem pretty good--certainly far better than the ones in my older Sony clock radio with CD player, though nowhere near as good as my Klipsch computer speakers or my old stereo speakers. But for music in the bedroom at fairly low volume, they're fine. The footprint is also reasonable, though with space at a premium on my cluttered nightstand, an even smaller footprint would have worked better for me. I found the remote handier than I originally thought I would because it not only operates the unit but operates the iPods, and with the dock more than an arm's length from the bed (the only place I had room for it), it allows me to navigate the menus and playlists without having to disturb the cats. :) It is very small and light, however, and I fear it may be easy to lose or become a cat toy. Apparently, the designers thought of that too because it has a magnetic storage compartment at the back of the unit.

That said, because I have it next to the bed, I'd have much preferred a unit that included a radio. I have a 6th generation Nano, which comes with FM radio capabilities, but that feature only works when the headphones are plugged in and is useless when the Nano is in the dock. Also, I'd have preferred to have an integrated clock, which would have allowed me to retire my clock radio. The clocks in the iPods are too small, and while I haven't actually tried using the iPod clocks as alarm clocks, but the whole thing struck me as more cumbersome than simply having a clock with continuous readout, which is what I want when I wake up in the middle of the night. I realize that the clock and alarm features probably would be far better in an iPhone or Touch, but since I don't have either one, I have to work with what I have, and in the iPods, they're too small to see halfway across the nightstand at night, so it's a lack that I notice. In addition, the unit doesn't come with a real manual, only basic pictorial instructions printed on the flaps of the box. I commend Altec Lansing for not wanting to contribute any more to landfills than necessary, but it took me a couple of weeks to discover that there was a second remote stashed in the compartment at the back.

Basically this is a nice enough unit for what it is and I've been using it several times a week--I like being able to launch a playlist before I fall asleep. It will probably solve some problems for many users, but I've deducted one star for its lack of radio and clock, which may be more of an issue for me than for others.

The Sharper Image EC-A130 Hardwood Speaker System for iPhone/iPod

The Sharper Image EC-A130 Hardwood Speaker System for iPhone/iPod
  • Charges, plays and displays your iPhone/iPod
  • Natural wood cabinet for premium acoustics
  • Built-in subwoofer for richer sound quality
  • Gorgeous high-gloss piano finish
  • Blue backlit controls with chrome accents

I give this item 5 stars for the price. The build quality of the hardwood is very good, and it looks great in the living room. I have a Sony Dream Machine (ICFCS10iP), and the audio quality of the EC-A130 is noticeably better especially at the lower end (great bass). Also, there seems to be a better incremental range in the volume. With the Sony, level 4 is too quiet, and level 5 is too loud. This was particularly annoying when working directly in front of the device. I'm picky, so your experience may differ. If I were to have a criticism, it would be that the remote has a plastic feel (perfectly comparable to the Sony). I did test the remote at over 30+ feet. It functioned normally.

I had to upgrade my dock when I upgraded my ipod. I bought this one and think it has an overall good sound. It charges quickly. The remote could have a farther distance but it is fine for the range in my room. I am very happy with the purchase.

despite the slightly annoying "may be incompatible" popup when I plug in my iPhone 4, it works and charges totally fine. The default sound is okay but becomes drastically better when you max out the bass and treble settings via the remote (which you have to do every time you power off and back on). speaker shielding is pretty good, I haven't experienced any cell phone buzzing interference when my iphone is plugged in. the 2" integrated subwoofer makes a big difference on the lows vs. most other docks in this price range, but don't expect table-shaking bass you probably can't throw a party with this but it'll work well enough for a small get-together because the sound will clip (as expected from lower wattage) at higher volumes. the two tweeters are decent, highs are much better than average docks once you set a high treble setting. mid-range is about average, but overall I'd say the sound is great for a living room device (this has a full 20Hz-20KHz range!) and leaps and bounds over the sub-$100 stuff you find in the aisle of a Best Buy. doesn't hurt that the glossy black finish looks good with most furniture

1 star knocked off for the popup message even though the box explicitly says "compatible with iphone 4." 5-star device based on sound & looks for a $70-100 dock

I bought this and got it home to find out that it is not optimized for IPhone4. Beautiful little cabinet, I'm really disappointed that it doesn't work. : (

We purchased this product from a brick-and-mortar retailer. When we got it home, we found the following missing from the box: (1) the remote control; (2) the speaker cable; (3) the instruction manual; (4) the warranty card; and (5) any protective padding. The same evening, we emailed Sharper Image's customer support department for assistance. Five weeks passed without a reply from Sharper Image. We again put in a request for support through the web site and also separately emailed customer support directly. A week has passed and there is still no response from Sharper Image, nor has it provided the missing remote and cable.

On the upside, the unit works okay, although one wonders if the sound output would be better using the cable. The instruction manual (available on the Sharper Image web site) indicates the cable is for connecting an iPod to the unit, but we are able to get sound without it.

It is annoying that both the box and the instructions picture a remote control, yet none was provided. However, it is outrageous that Sharper Image provides no support for this product and completely ignores customer requests for assistance.

This is our first and last purchase of a Sharper Image product.

Creative Zen Mozaic 4 GB MP3 Player (Black)

Creative Zen Mozaic 4 GB MP3 Player
  • 4 GB capacity for 2,000 WMA or 1000 MP3 files
  • Up to 32 hours battery life on a single charge
  • 1.8-inch TFT color display with 128 x 160 pixel resolution
  • Supports AVI video format (must be transcoded with included software); MP3, WMA, WAV (IMA-ADPCM
  • 1-year limited hardware warranty

I've had the Zen Mozaic 4 GB for about a week now, and I love it! Here is just a short list of the pros and cons I have noticed.

Pros:

Price It's very cost-effective for the tons of features included!

FM Radio The radio signal strength is unimpressive, but a plus nonetheless, since many don't offer this feature. Note: the radio antenna is built into the headphones, so with just the built-in speaker, there is no radio reception at all. Headphones must be plugged in.

Alarm clock I love being able to set the song that I wake up to, and with the built-in speaker it works much like a cell-phone alarm clock.

Built-in speaker Now you can share a song with a friend without sharing your headphones. The speaker sounds better than I thought it would considering how small the device is. I wouldn't listen to it for hours, but it's a nice additional feature.

Battery Life When they say 30+ hours, they're not joking. Very impressive battery life.

Cons:

Plastic The whole thing is made of plastic and feels somewhat toylike. Although I hesitate to call this a "con" because it feels very sturdy and well-made. If you want a metallic feel, you'll have to fork out the extra money for a Zune or iPod (twice the price).

Headphones The headphones are pretty cheap. The music sounds tinny when you use them, but if you use nicer headphones, sound quality is good! Once again, the radio antenna is in the headphones if you want to use this feature.

My overall impression is that I am very satisfied with the product. I don't use it much for videos, but the included software will convert videos to .avi format for viewing, which is nice but the screen is a bit small for using it as a video player very often. I use Media Monkey for syncing, but you can use Windows Media Player or simply Drag and Drop.

Audio quality is great with better headphones and the interface is simple to use. The design, I think, is very sleek and unique, but obviously not for everyone. If you're looking for a nice little player to give as a gift or just to stash in your pocket, this is a great choice!

Buy Creative Zen Mozaic 4 GB MP3 Player (Black) Now

I use this mostly for audio books which I download from my local library and it works great with the OverDrive Media console in use by many public libraries. I love the fact that when it times out, it remembers where it left off even if it is left in "pause". The Zen V Plus would always return to the beginning of the segment if it was paused, which was a real pain when listening to a 16 hour book. In addition to 6 audio books, I also have 8 hours of Christmas music organized into a playlist. The battery lasts way longer than the V Plus and I can still use the charger that I bought for the Zen V Plus. Took a while to figure out some of the differences between programming the Mozaic and the Zen V Plus including the new typewriting but now I've become familiar with it I have no difficulty getting it programmed the way I need it. Easy to bookmark and restore. 2 thumbs up!

I was immediately taken aback by this player. Its design took some time to get used to, but after seeing it up close and getting used to its controls, i feel like it is a good choice for any casual music listener.

The Good: 1. I like the design of it. Something new is always good for a market that has nothing different to give these days. 2. The sound quality is excellent. 3. The battery life is Amazing! I clocked in at 41.3 hours with all 128kbps songs and the screen off thanks to the lock. i havent done test with 192kbps songs yet, but i dont think it really matters too much. 4. Navigation is another plus. not just the default layout, but the customizability of it. you can move the menus around, add, delete, and set a certain item to the hotkey. this gave me the feeling that it was actually "My" mp3 player, unlike the Sansa, Ipod, and Zune mp3 players that do not allow any modification of the default layout.

The Bad: 1. Slow buttons. i noticed that when i scroll through the menus, sometimes i would have to push a button twice to get it to respond. i haven't had to push it three times yet, but if i do, i might have to start complaining about the lazy response times. 2. Creative Centrale. I dont like this program. i didnt have the install problems of the last reviewer, but the conversion times of videos, the hassle of trying to add albums to the program, and the lack of a good "find album art" utility make the software almost useless. so far, the freeware creative Vision:M video converter is doing a great job of fixing the vids, so i have absolutely no use for the bundled software.

All in all, i love this player. i get a couple random looks around town when i have it out, and the built-in speaker has quite a presence. $59.99US for 2gb and $79.99US for 4gb is crazy cheap for such a uniquely awesome little player. I highly recommend you go check one out for yourself.

Want Creative Zen Mozaic 4 GB MP3 Player (Black) Discount?

Well, I received my 4gb pink Mozaic today, and I'm very happy with it :]

I once owned a Creative Zen Vision:M, 30gb, until I lost it in the gym... It was an excellent player with a few quirks (it was somewhat laggy) but quite a brick I dropped it about 4-5x and yet it still survived.

Well, back to the Mozaic, to break it down,

Pros:

+ The player is small and unobtrusive if you want to put it in your pocket

+ The pink is a nice shade

+ Easy to navigate through the menus

+ I was able to drag and drop music directly into the player's "Music" folder on my computer and play it immediately

+ Although the shell is made of plastic, it is very, very sturdy. I feel that I could drop it several times with minimal damage (not that I'm going to test this out!)

+ The screen is bright and vivid

+ You can save up to 32 radio stations

+ Radio signal itself is alright; just make sure you have your headphones plugged in, as they act as the antenna.

+ The speaker is decent, but not up to audiophile standards (which I'm not). However, it's perfect in a pinch if you forget your headphones, want to share music with a friend, etc.

Cons:

I hesitate to call this a con, since the player in itself is quite small, but the buttons are tiny. Then again, we text on cell phone keys that about the same size, so it's easy to adapt to.

Watching videos requires that you turn the player to the side. Not really a con, but just something to take note of.

I will update later after my player and I get more intimate ;p

It sounds very good has very good battery life. The built-in speaker is pretty handy. It does not have back-lit keys which makes it difficult to use in low light.

One caveat. I don't use or plan to use the video features.

I would buy it again.

Uniden 300-Channel Clock Radio Scanner

Uniden 300-Channel Clock Radio Scanner
  • Store and scan up to 300 channels:police, fire/emergency, marine, air, amateur, and other radio services
  • NOAA weather broadcasts and all-hazard alerts provide valuable information specific to your location
  • Listen to TV stations (channels 2-13) and AM/FM Radio, with 30 presets for instant access
  • Alarm clock with snooze function and standard alarm features
  • Scanner runs on AC power or two AA batteries, for portable use

This was on my wish list and my wife indulged me for my birthday! Thanks!

When I started working as a young teenager, the second thing I bought with my money was a Bearcat 6 channel handheld scanner. That was more than 30 years ago and times sure have changed.

Let us talk about the non scanner features first. The atomic clock works solid and had no trouble getting signal. The alarm clock also works as expected. The snooze button could stand out a little more since there are a lot of buttons of similar size and location. (I said similar and not exact!)

The FM and TV reception work fine and I can pick up stations 40 to 50 miles away without static. The AM reception is adequate and works about as good as AM radio can.

The radio also has a very important feature of weather alerts from NOAA. You can program it to only alert you on weather events in your area (county). This is an important safety feature I cannot suggest more.

To be honest, I didn't need an atomic alarm clock or an FM radio as I already had those needs met. I also have a nice collection of scanners but I had a specific need (want) and this scanner fit the bill almost.

I will digress for a second and mention that many metropolitan areas no longer use conventional radios for public safety agencies. Conventional means each agency has a dedicated radio frequency and many times departments inside of each agency have their own dedicated frequency. It doesn't take long to realize that a lot of frequencies are needed.

To combat this, many public safety agencies (and sometimes large businesses) will use a trunked radio system. To monitor trunked radio systems, you need a scanner capable of receiving (following) the system. Some trunked systems are now digital which require an even more specialized scanner.

The Uniden BCT15 or Uniden BCD996T will work for trunked or digital trunked systems. I strongly suggest you research what systems and frequencies are used in your area before you buy any scanner.

Getting back to the scanner review...

This scanner monitors conventional frequencies only. I bought this scanner to specifically monitor one frequency the local school system. This system allows me to monitor early morning traffic from the school which allows me to be alerted of any problems or concerns including weather delays or closings.

But I also use it to monitor more items such as those little FRS radios everyone seems to have and the traffic from the local Air Force base. I won't bore you will everything but programming is very easy to do and the manual is very clear on all operations of the radio. (You can preview the manual at Uniden's website.)

The reception is very good and when I listen to some air bands for commercial and military, it has several hundred miles of range with the supplied antenna.

The search feature is functional and the preprogrammed search banks make it easy for new users to find frequencies. You can create your own custom search banks too.

The operation to scan or hold on one frequency is simple to learn and use.

I gave the scanner only 4 stars for 2 reasons. One is the really poor BNC connector on the antenna. It is a major complaint that extends to most Uniden base station scanners. You need to be careful attaching it or you can damage the antenna or even the radio.

The second reason is more of a personal nit pick of my own. I picked up the scanner to monitor the conventional frequency of the local public school. My bedroom is located on the second floor so I have some height inside the house on the radio.

An ambulance service a couple of counties over also uses the same frequency as the school. The local school has a PL tone which I can program into other scanners in my collection but not this one. So I wished the scanner accepted PL tones. Again, this is just a small nit pick which won't be a problem for most others.

I do recommend this radio or any Uniden radio in general. I own 3 current models and have had many in the past. Enjoy and happy scanning!

One night my husband and I were out on the porch discussing various things from our youth. Somehow the subject of police scanners came up. We needed a new clock radio with alarm and since we live on an island in NE in a flood zone I joked that what we needed was a police/fire/emergency scanner with built in radio, weather band that could be taken on the run.

Not being well versed on today's scanners (I am of the era of Smokey and the Bandit) was very surprised and delighted to find they do make such an item. It does an awful lot for a small sized unit. And being an electronic brand name snob I felt I could take the chance on getting a well made unit from bearcat/uniden.

Well we set it all up and programmed it BUT found lots of discrepancies on the web as far as what the correct frequency numbers are for police/fire in our area. So we let it do its thing where it scanned and picked up local frequencies and some from far away as well.

It was the weekend so we could not call the toll free number provided with the directions (directions? We don't need no stinkin' directions!) which will tell you the freqency numbers of services in your area.

Rather than that, however, my husband opted to bring it to a local man who for a small fee entered the areas/services we were looking for. i imagine the true scanner enthusiast would of called or had those numbers already. Just be careful of info found on the web.

The weather alert/band features are interesting and handy to have, too. We have lived through various hurricanes/blizzards and it is nice to have something informative that runs on batteries as well as standard electric.

We found we liked it so much we put it on the kitchen counter and as such left unmet our original need for a bedside clock radio alarm. So I still need to buy one of those for the bedroom!

It also picks up some TV stations. Again, in a power outage handy to have. Oh yes you will cry if the power goes out too long but suck it up like we do. On New Years eve we lost power on our island and had to LISTEN to the ball fall during the Dick Clark Rockin New Years Eve show. To all life some rain must fall.

So far the most interesting thing we heard on the police scanner was concerning a man who somehow super-glued himself to a urinal wall. Never saw anything about it in the paper, either.

Just another toy that I could live without. But it sure is lots of fun scanning the frequencies, listening to police, fire, and airport chatter.

Do you need this item absolutely not.

Will you have fun with it absolutely yes.

This is one of the best scanners I have ever purchased. Great quality and awesome reception. I purchased two of these. One for my residence and one for the Firehouse, and no one has anything bad to say. I would recommend this product to anyone.

The Uniden 300 does what it claims and does it well. I can receive

police, fire, marine, ham radio, am, fm, tv, weather and even pick

up local cordless phone conversations. The controls are easy to use

and the unit is fairly easy to set up. I wish it came with a beefier

antenna but I'm able to get nearly 300 miles of reception of ham radio

so its not bad straight out of the box. The frequency scanner works

efficiently and smoothly zeros in on any live broadcasting in whatever

band you are in. The emergency notification is awesome, never thought

I would need it in San Diego, but sure enough it popped up one evening

when a storm cell blew into the area causing flooding. Nice! The

radio controlled clock feature automatically re-set itself when day-

light savings time came around too. As a bed side companion it does

the job and more! My only complaint, which is very minor, is the clock/

frequency display is at an angle not convienient for viewing without

lifting my head from my pillow. Reckon if that's the only negative

then I'm 99.5% satisfied with my purchase. Kudos to Uniden & Amazon

for hooking me up with the Uniden 300.

iriver T60 1 GB MP3 Player (Black)

iriver T60 1 GB MP3 Player
  • Jog Button Navigation System
  • CSTN 65,000 color LCD with colorful GUI
  • Plays up to 19 hours with a AAA-size battery
  • Supports music file such as MP3, WMA, ASF and OGG Q10
  • FM radio and FM recording reservation, Voice Recording, USB 2.0

I bought this mp3 player just to see if really iriver is the best brand in digital audio players for the sound quality.i recenly used Creative,Cowon,Apple but they didn't satisfied me for the sound quality issues. So i wanted to find out wht iRiver is so popular?

When you play the music with the default eq you get a standart sound. But when you set the EQ to SRS WOW HD,and calibrate the options FOCUS,TRUBASS,WOW,DEFINITON you get an amazing Clear, powerfull sound from what i listened till now.Of cource with a quality earphone.

But when it comes to battery life T60 is not so strong, finished the AAA battery quicker than 8 hours.

Also i can't understand why the LCD Screen is so small,at least 128x128 would be very nice for this device. The letters are also very small and it is hard to read.T60 has a 5 way joistik controller which is good but not so fast to navigate through folders and playlists as ipod nano.

i had problems with the software iriver plus 3 while trying to make playlist and upload music.

LAST THOUGHTS : This player has some quality sound that i never listened before. But if battery life and esay controls(like ipod) are important for you this may not be your choice.

I purchased the original iFP-100 series (iFP-190T) in October of 2003 as a gift, then a refresh version of iFP-795T in November of 2004 for myself. I still have the iFP-795T and it still works, even after fair amount of abuse. Its switching regulator occasionally acts up, so I decided to pick up a new one in case it dies, so I bought a T60 1GB version.

I spent less than 1/3 of what I spent to get the 795 in 2004, but in the end, I think I actually got 1/3 of the hardware, too. Screen is terrible, and can't be read without the backlight on. 795's screen is not color (who cares!), but is higher resolution and readable without backlight. 795 has line-in, and recording quality can be controlled more finely, with Automatic Gain Control for voice recording as well. I loved 795's voice recording with AGC. Joystick control is worse than it is on 795, too, and it has never been its strong point either.

The new T60 came with the latest firmware (1.3), which hasn't been updated in a while, and yet appears to have a bug. Rechargeable battery and Alkaline battery settings are reversed!

Overall, I'm saddened by the "progress." I actually tried to see if I can still buy a new 700 series or 800 series, but couldn't find any. I guess they had no choice in order to compete with iPod and what not, or didn't they?

To be fair, for the price, it does work as advertised, but then, I can't recommend it over any other low-priced units.

iRiver's little AAA powered MP3 players always deliver amazing sound but the T60 is no different from the previous versions in the series: confusing operation and the joystick breaks. My T60's joystick control broke after less than a year of use. And as of July 3, 2009 someone on the market place is selling a 1 gb model for $200. $200? Seriously? This item is worth $50 tops.

My T60 sounded really nice but stopped working in 10 days. Contacted iRiver and they could not get it to work. Finally they said to return it to Amazon!!! It sounded great, can do FM radio recording like Tivo (record at a set time). Has built in Podcast app (podcast-ready) that works great but It eats batteries. It does not use power via USB when downloading songs/podcasts which drain batteries. The stock headphone are of poor quality. I finally returned mine and cheers to Amazon for their EXCELLENT return policy. BTW these are on Clearance on iriverusa website for .

This is a good small MP3 player. Fits easily in a pocket or hang around your neck. The sound quality is good. 1 gigabyte is plenty of storage for me. You can use it with Realplayer or Real Rhapsody on the computer to download files. I particularly like the option of using Windows explorer. I have a large collection of Old Time Radio programs saved on CD in MP3. It is easy to transfer files this way. I just plug in the Iriver player's provided USB ports open the files on the computer and tranfer the file by click and dragging.

I know folks have complained about the controls. They are not hard, you just have to be patient and careful. the menu toggle switch does not give you much leeway. You have to be very careful on which direction you want toggle the switch to get what you want. If your needs are small and you want something small, handy and still inexpensive, this MP3 player will do you fine. It also has an FM radio and microphone for recording.

This product has an easy interface and simple to use.. My experience is that the sound quality is fuzzy and choppy.. Especially on base settings on car radio.. Seems to be a function of location and the constant fiddling to get a clean sound is annoying.
