Honestly, I didn't have much hope before buying this player and my hunch turned out to be true. Before buying this, I wanted to get some information on the functionality. The crappy manual on the Pyle website turned out to be of no use, so I sent a mail to their support address and didn't get any reply. Then, I sent another mail to all the addresses that I could find on their website and one guy replied and told me someone will send me more information, which never arrived. Thus, I got a fair idea about the product support, but I still went ahead and bought it because it seemed to be feature-rich and price seemed right.

The product works fine. Installation was easy. The audio quality is great (that is the only unexpectedly good part about the whole product). I have tried DVD, CD, SD card, USB and FM radio. They all "work". There end the good things about it. Here are the cons:-

1.While playing a DVD, the screen displays a warning "For your own safety, do not watch video while driving". I can hear the audio and see the video in the background when I go into setup screen, but it is the warning that is permanently on the screen and I can't find any way to get rid of it.

2.While playing songs from SD/USB, the display is horrible. There is no way to change the text size or color. It is almost impossible to read the dull blue display. I even see some Chinese letters on the screen :-)

3.Now Bluetooth: I was able to pair my phone with the unit, but if I get an incoming call while listening to music, it doesn't automatically switch to phone mode. I have to go into the Bluetooth screen and answer it there. What is the point of Bluetooth? It is much easier to attend the call on the phone. To make it worse, I have already come across a couple of situations where my phone wouldn't see the unit.

4.There is no easy way to dim the screen without going to the setup screen. It is very annoying in the night.

5.Pyle may be creating too many products and getting mixed up with the features, manual and firmware. Generally, the console, remote and the screens are very confusing.

6.Of course, the support is non-existent. I sent another e-mail to them requesting how to get around some of these things, but never heard a reply. And, I didn't expect one either. So, if you buy it, consider yourself on your own.

I decided to keep it just because I didn't want to go through the hassle of pulling it out and sending it back. But, if you are considering buying it, I would recommend you look elsewhere.

PURE i-20 30-Pin iPod/iPhone Speaker Dock

PURE i-20 30-Pin iPod/iPhone Speaker Dock
  • Maximum audio fidelity via coaxial S/PDIF and optical TOSLINK digital audio outputs plus stereo RCA connectors for analogue audio;High quality video output via component, composite and S-video sockets
  • Conveniently charges iPod / iPhone while docked;Supportive high back allows easy manual control of iPod / iPhone while docked
  • Clearsound digital end-to-end technology extracts the raw digital audio and processes it on the dock for high quality digital output
  • Superior quality audio DAC for stereo RCA outputs

Glad to see this unit now available on Amazon. I've had one for maybe 6 months now and it's performed flawlessly, feeding my Cambridge Audio Azur 840C CD Player as a DAC. The i-20's built-in digital audio convertor's not too shabby, either. In either configuration, used either with an outboard digital converter or using its own, the i-20 makes a very, very, very big improvement over the sound delivered by my iPod Classic 160GB and iPhone 4S.

Not the most robust build quality, but more than adequate and certainly more than in keeping with the i-20's price point. Note that it elevates one's iDevice pretty high up from 'ground level': low shelves may create clearance problems in some cases.

1/3 the cost of the closest competition, built-in D/A conversion as well!!! Highly, highly recommended.

Attractive industrial design. Well made making a sturdy platform for Ipods. Well thought out uses Toslink connector thus avoiding digital jitter [distortion] problems. There are other competitors that can cost more than 5x it's price, but sound no better. Includes analog out via its own DAC for the cash starved. Companies providing these types of cost effective products deserve your support.

First off, I have not used any of the analog outputs on this device at all, so I have no opinion there. I used the optical toslink output directly into my Cambridge 740C CD player optical input to take advantage of it's DACs. The sound quality is significantly better than utilizing the 3.5mm analog output from the ipod. So far, I have used the I-20 on a 2nd Gen Nano and on a 3G iPhone. The results are quite satisfying. The remote must be fairly well pointed at the ir port, but works nicely. I am impressed.

Only negative is that the I-20 isn't compatible with my 1st Gen Nano.

The main issues I have with this dock is analog Audio and Video NOISE.

If you use the Video outputs *together* with analog audio, noise will ruin the whole purpose of this supposedly Video/Audiophile device.

Fortunately, Video (Component and Composite are clean if you use it alone or with the the Digital outputs (Coaxial or Optical) Analog Audio is clean only without the video connections.

Now, if you buy this to get the pure digital audio signal out, then get the $39 Apple Digital AV adapter and hook the HDMI cable to a receiver. So you get clean Digital Audio and Video.

Also, if your Ipod Touch has a protective skin, it won't fit in the dock, so is annoying to remove it every time I use the dock.

The wireless remote range is not so good, can only control a very limited set of functions and it doesn't have an App for further functionality.

What is nice about this is that it is an actual dock to place and charge your device, better than just a cable laying there.

If this dock was around $50 i would recommend it. I would pay though the $100 bucks if the Analog signals Audio/Video were clean (free of noise).

Sooo, i guess this for someone that needs a dock with a remote plus digital audio out or someone that doesn't have a receiver with HDMI inputs.

I decided to return it and get instead the Apple Digital AV cable and also a Component cable. I then can connect to two different rooms and have analog and digital options. I lose though the Coaxial and Optical audio outputs. But I don't think there is too much difference with regular analog out to the Ipod Touch 4G and my Coaxial Speakers.

Also, you can get for this price an Apple TV dedicated to your Video Audio gear with the same digital audio quality and better remote control real 1080P video, etc, etc

I give it 3.5 stars, because of the noise issue, cost, customer support is almost non existent and the manual is poor.

Sounds great and is sturdy. Good value for the price (~$100), considering all the other digital docks are like $300+. With the BS hype about certain outboard D/A converters and the outrageous prices manufacturers are asking for them, it is nice to see a product like this. I didn't think it was real when I first saw it on Amazon, I thought for sure I'd get stuck having to pay too much for a Wadia or Teac (It's a sad thing when the audiophile hobby has been taken over by the stupid rich and/or the mentally ill, and the gear manufacturers have all jumped on the band wagon to exploit it (along with the magazines who review them) lets go buy some $500 power cords and tell everyone we can hear the difference). But I digress.

I'm using the analog out to the AUX in on my preamp and the quality is very good, the built in D/A converter seems to do the trick nicely even though my iPod files are not the high resolution ones.

I have wanted a speaker for my iPod for a while. My PC is in my room, so I guess I did not need one, but still I got it. I sounds great! I turn the volume to 32 and I can hear it all through out our basement. The radio sounds great and was very easy to set up. It has a battery, so the clock is always on, but it will not light up unless you plug it in. My iPod and iPad fit fine. I had to get a connector for my iPhone 5. I have good speakers and a subwoofer for my PC, but I would have to say that this little thing sounds much better. I am super happy with my decision to buy it and would recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive radio to hook their iDevices up to. The one I have is grey on the top part.

Belkin Charge and Sync Dock with Earpods for iPhone 5 and iPod Touch 5th Generation

Belkin Charge and Sync Dock with Earpods for iPhone 5 and iPod Touch 5th GenerationI never leave ratings. I just had to with this one to warn everyone about this product.

Since you're using your own Lightning cable which you feed at the bottom of this dock, whenever you pull out the iphone, the cord pulls through with it and it never comes off until you have to use another hand to separate the cord from the iphone. After all this, you need to unlatch the bottom and feed the cord back through the hole and then put the plate back on.

this is a song and dance that happens EVERY TIME and Belkin, via facebook message, admitted this was a huge flaw and a quick refund would be issued without fuss. I guess they didn't want me leaving a review on Amazon, which im doing anyway.

awful awful awful.

if i could give this a -5 star rating that wouldn't be enough. removing a phone from a dock shouldn't take 3 minutes each time. but, alas, Belkin rushed a product yet again for the sake of user experience and coming out to market first. shame on you, Belkin.

Since the cable isn't supplied it fits into a provided slot and every time you pull the phone out the cable become dislodged forcing you to reinsert it constantly. Save your money and wait for a dock with the lightning connection built in.

This dock is so bad I would hesitate to ever buy anything from Belkin again. As other reviewers have noted, there is nothing to hold the cable in place. Moreover it does not sit flush with the base, so your phone is sitting on top of the Apple connector -and nothing else. When you remove your phone it pulls the cord out of its socket; there's no edge to lock the cable tip in place. While it claims to be a "sync dock", there is nothing on this unit that has anything to do with the sync function. The "audio port" lets you connect a pair of headphones to the base so you can listen while charging. But you can do the same thing by skipping this piece of junk and just charging your phone directly from the cable.

I thought this would be a nice way to keep the phone off the table while charging. I get that you have to use your own cable, but I at least though that the thing would be engineered well enough that the phone would not be supported by the Lightning connector and the audio jack.

Nope. The phone is piked on its audio and Lightning connector with absolutely no strain relief. Poor design, not interested in a potential repair on either port. Audio connector on the stand does rotate down in case you decide that you'd rather put all the stress on the Lightning connector.

Not quite sure what I'm going to do with this thing now.

Nice unit, good weight, works with covers, etc. I have noticed the connector comes out , (which people are whining about), a tad at times but I remedied that. All you have to do is tie a small knot outside the hole the cable comes out of. Solved the problem easily. Literally took seconds to do. Other options for the problem would be some hot glue, small tie wrap, silicone of whatever. So come on folks. Stop whining over something so simple. It's a nice dock. The cable prob is NOT a deal breaker!
