This radio was perfect. Low price and surprisingly better quality than expected. Durable enough to take abuse from a 2 year old and continue working. Both AM and FM stations are picked up fairly well if they're local. Sound quality is pretty good.
My 2 year old managed to rip off one of the ear buds right away by sitting on it because the wire is very thin. I replaced the ear buds and haven't had a problem since.
Definitely worth the low price.

Let's not mince words here; expecting miracles from a Coby electronic device is like asking your dog to go make you a nice lentil stew. Let's not even expect a semblance of qualitative parity with most brands when Coby enters the picture. They just don't operate that way. What you get with Coby-branded stuff is bling'd-out, cut-rate mediocrity, or even outright "failure by design," and this radio is a fine example of the syndrome. For starters, there is the matter of the "neck strap," which is the appropriate term to use if this radio was meant to be worn around the neck of a goose, or a ferret, or a small Chihuahua. It does fit well around normal-sized human hands, so if you are part of that demographic and don't really care if Amazon mislabels the product, then have at it.
The other issue could be more of a showstopper, and that is the matter of the dial calibration. The problem dial doesn't quite reach the bottom of the FM spectrum, preventing me from listening to one of my favorite local stations. Is this a design defect, or is this more of Coby's famous quality control?
Otherwise, the radio is okay. It feels sturdy, and reception in both bands is alright for local stations. I think the case is polypropylene, which is good because it means the belt clip will last a while. The earbuds, of course, are a joke. It isn't as good as the Sony's and Sangeans, but they cost quite a bit more. If you want a radio so cheap that it literally is not worth your time to return it, then this is the one.

I live in a major metro area and the radio stations I listen to are major stations, so it is usually very easy to pick up signal for them. This thing couldn't do it. It got nothing but static.Want COBY CX-71 ORG Mini AM/FM Pocket Radio with Hand Strap Discount?
this radio is one of the worst terrible radios out of all of coby's crap, and this is just pathetic, you know coby, the worst and cheapest you can brand buy, don't get this. For the price, this is a good item. You get what you pay for. I am having issues with the ear buds where they plug into the unit. I have to twist the wire to not get scratchy noises.
