When this product arrived, I tossed the manual aside and figured it should be simple enough to setup:

1. I pulled the unit out of the box and plugged it in

2. I plugged my phone into the connector on the unit

3. My iPhone indicated that I needed a new App to be able to use the unit. The nice part here was that it asked me if I wanted to go get it and took me right to the App in the App Store. I downloaded the (free) Fidelio app, launched it, and began playing music from my iTunes library with a single tap.

One thing that struck me as odd is that the power, volume, and bluetooth lights on the unit are all amber. In my experience, that color means 'standby,' and I would expect green lights. Maybe that's just my experience, but I still keep turning the thing off by mistake.

For the record, the unit does work with other applications on the iPhone -I used Last.FM, Pandora and the built-in iPod app without any problems -the Fidelio app has a bass booster and various equalizers that can be selected. The Fidelio app also integrates with Twitter and Facebook (I guess it can tell your friends what you're listening to?), but I don't think people care that about the details of my life to that degree, so I didn't try that. There is a clock with a 5-day forecast display and I assume it can be used as a clock-radio replacement. I've already got one of those, so, not my use case.

The unit will charge your docked iPhone/iPad/iPod while playing music, and it comes with a USB cable to attach it to your computer and allow synchronization of the iPhone/iPad/iPod while docked as well. It can be used as a speaker for any device that has the standard 3.5mm headphone-style jack by using the enclosed male/male headphone cable. The nicest feature, IMO, is the bluetooth streaming. I can push music to the unit from my iPhone without connecting any cables -simply discover/pair the unit like any bluetooth headset and select it as the audio output from your music player app. The Fidelio app will automatically select the DS3510 as its target if it finds one connected.

All that without reading the manual. I'd say that is pretty intuitive. It turns out that the manual is a big poster with pictures indicating how to set the thing up, so there is an expectation that it will be simple. Thumbs up.

For portability, 4 x AA batteries can be put into the dock and it supposedly lasts around 8 hours on a fresh set.

This is the second Fidelio docking speaker I own. First one is the DS3000 that I purchased for my office. This DS3510 I bought it for those small crowded reunions I have in my house.

I have to say, I'm really impressed with the performance of this little speaker, it works great with my iPhone 4S and with my iPad 2, regardless if I connect them to the docking or via bluetooth, I get very decent sound. Of course, it won't perform like a Bose speaker (c'mon, look at the size of it, you cannot compare it with a bigger sized/boxed speaker), but need to say that my family was surprised that the sound of the music we were listening to on the weekend came out of this tiny speaker.

I've also played some games on my iPad 2 and streamed the sound via bluetooth, I was again, amazed of the sound of it (with no delays at all), pairing this speaker with the iPhone or iPad is the easiest task, I didn't even have to enter any passcode's.

This is not an outdoor speaker, this is what you'll use within your house to liven up a meeting with friends/family while you chat or eat. Of course, if you turn up the volume it will fill the room with a nice yet not distorted sound.

I love this thing!

I got this product for one purpose, so I could listen to my iPod while on my deck. It has definitely gotten a lot of use this past spring/summer. I have the second generation iPod Nano so I wasn't sure how compatible this would be, but it ended up working just fine with my ancient iPod and my hubby¡¦s newer version.

It is very lightweight and I love the fact that it charges my iPod while I am listening to it. The cord isn't very long and I had to get an extension cord to in order to put it outside, no big deal. One night I was too lazy to dig around in the garage for the cord so I threw some batteries in it, I thought it would last for an hour or two, figuring the iPod would drain the batteries quickly. Surprisingly, they lasted through that wine drinking deck night and through a couple more as well. I kept track of the hours because I was so impressed, and it ended up lasting over 18 hours on generic cheap batteries.

It turned out to exceed my expectations in the volume/sound department, too. I generally like to listen to my music fairly loud, so it drowns out my singing. Turns out it¡¦s loud enough that my husband asked me to turn it down, worrying it was too loud for the neighbors. It really turned out to suit my needs perfectly.

I really love it, we took it camping Up North and because it is so small and lightweight, it was perfect for our little adventure. This has now become a staple on our deck, right alongside good friends and wine. º

At the time I'm writing this review I see that Amazon has this product selling for $156. That, plus a couple of minor issues, would be the main reason I wouldn't suggest a buy.

Upon receipt I pulled the docking speaker out of the box, plugged it in using the power cord, and settled my iPhone upon the connector. I then immediately got a message saying that "This accessory requires and App that is not installed" and I gave a small groan. I (and probably many others) really DON'T want to install a new app just to play my music on the docking station. No worries though, I tapped no and went into iTunes and started playing my songs. Worked fine.

Over the course of an afternoon I tested it with an audiobook and then with streaming and MLB At Bat game and they all worked fine too. I guess that some might prefer to install a separate App, but I chose not to. I then tested everything with an iPAD and again was quite satisfied that this Docking Speaker performs every function advertised quite adequately.

The sound is by no means amazing, but it is quite acceptable. The front of the unit is simplistic with a power button and + and to control the volume. The unit can be operated either via the power cord or by installing batteries.

I just keep coming back to the price. Considering competing products which do everything this unit can do but also include things like a clock radio/alarm function for a much lower price, I can't say that I feel this unit is a worthy buy.

The speakers worked great for about a good two months. Than I slowly started to notice that the sound volume was getting lower . When I first purchased the speakers I can clearly hear the music from 2 rooms away now I can barely hear the speakers .
