Here's what I found out when I started using this:
1. The User Interface Lets just say that this leaves MUCH to be desired in terms of aesthetics and functionality. I would say that someone was in a hurry to design the interface for this one and it shows. It's cumbersome to use. Not to mention absolutely ugly! That's why there is NO screen shots of it in this listing... Pyle could never sell this if they showed you what the UI looked like! An Atari 2600 (circa 1977) has better looking graphics than this system!
2. The Display stays BRIGHT all the time! There is NO DIMMER wire hookup for this model! (which is pretty ridiculous since it has so many features) There's nothing like having the equivalent of a spotlight in your face on that long night time ride. Furthermore, you can adjust the brightness on the display to suit your needs... however, DON'T TURN OFF THE VEHICLE or you will have to set it again! The screen is either super bright... or off. At least they put a button on the front to turn it off... IF the screen actually registers that you pressed it! (Poorly functioning touch screen as well... Who would have thought?!?)
3. DVD/CD Player stopped working after 3 months of 'way less than average use'. I believe I actually watched 3 concert DVDs on this before the DVD just decided to stop reading discs. So I also lost the CD functionality as well. No one that I know uses CDs anymore, myself included. It would have been nice to have the CD/DVD Player to last longer than 3 months! (Once again, cheaply built!)
4. The Bluetooth works well enough, but the mic that is in this system is... you guessed it!... cheap! (I won't even mention what the phone interface for dialing out looks like!) Everyone I called from this system said it sounded like I was in a cave that was under water! It wasn't my phone causing this to happen, as I went through 3 cell phones in the last 2 years... all of which sounded horrible to the caller on the other end when I use that system.
If you are still reading this review, which somehow I doubt...
Here is Pyle's website. You can find the manual by searching for
'PLDN72BT' on their site:
(Then you can check out the User Interface for yourself.)
Moral of this story: If you want something nice, that's gonna last, spend the money on a brand that is actually worth spending it on!
I should have known... with a name like Pyle... that's exactly what I was gonna get! A 'Pile'... of Junk!Just bought last Sunday. Shipping was beyond fast and came in great condition.
If you buy the right wiring harness receiver and kit installation is a breeze. The backup camera isn't to hard to install either. Pretty much plug and play. You have to hard wire to the reverse lights and buy and extra long wire to run to the back of the car for the backup camera 12v switch....which means when the reverse light gets power it turns on the backup camera video automatically.
Sounds great
Very easy to use
Very easy to install
Looks cartoonish, not factory at all but all in all for the price I would recommend it to the cows come home.
Easy to hook up auxilary tvs just plug and go or your xbox or simialr red white yellow input
Has usb in which u can run the wire anywhere within a foot or two
BLUETOOTH works great for pandora and phone calls and music
Two thumbs up
