Disney Toy Story Little Green Alien Clock Radio

Disney Toy Story Little Green Alien Clock RadioI started a Toy Story 3 collection, with my favorites in the movie. The aliens were of course something I wanted! But here I got lucky. They are in their spaceship. Yes it is a clock-radio but I bought it to display with all the other Toy Story friends.

I purcased one of these UPS units in April of 2011. After about 6 months it failed to supply backup power for even 30 seconds and will not pass it's own self test. I contacted Tripp-Lite Customer Service who responded quickly and send me a replacement unit immediately. They didn't even require me to send the defective unit back to them. Now the replacement unit occasionally shuts itself off for no reason at all. I have to leave it off for at least a minute to keep it from starting up with a failure alarm, which will sound a loud beep every minute while the unit is on. This is the only UPS model by Tripp-Lite I've ever used and after two units showing problems in less than a year I think I'll stay away from them. I've used Tripp-Lite surge protectors for years without a problem but their UPS units, at least this particular model, seem to fall short in the reliability department. Kudos for their Customer Service people though. That's the reason I give this product two stars instead of just one.

I read a convincing and information packed ad for Tripp Lite in PC World that prompted me to purchase it. Also a family member stressed that I should have one in case of an outage. My former surge protector had its limitations so it was time for a change. The eco550UPS comes with 8 outlets, 4 for surge protection and the other 4 are energy savers for peripheral hardware. Supposedly using the "550" will save one about $50 per year in energy costs based on 3 hours of computer use daily. The manual is poorly worded and flimsy. For example, the manual gives very brief and confusing directions for the installation of the UBS wire. In addition, the manual has to be downloaded from the Tripp Lite website, which I find to be an annoying inconvenienceTripp Lite ECO550UPS 550VA Energy Efficient UPS System Black. Another unique feature of the "550" is the "Power Alert Console" software (downloaded from the website) which tracks disruptions in your system. My power alert does not work and crashes every time I try to use it. I called, at my expense, Tripp Lite, but, after several suggestions from its tech staff the issue was still unresolved. Tripp Lite dismissed is as a Windows issue and they could not help me. If one has problems with the unit, you either call tech support at your expenses or send an email. It takes two days for a response so depending on the nature of your problem that can be a very long time to wait. Once one receives a reply, the tech staff will correspond with you most of that day to resolve the issue, which is what they did for me. Another important point is that the unit is an actual battery, which means that once the unit "expires", you have to buy another one. Tech stated that the unit, depending on use and care, should last 3 to 5 years. I was under the impression that you simply put a new battery into the unit to recharge it but it does not work that way. Despite these shortcomings, I'd recommend it. It's easy to install, fits on my desk, provides protection for my system, eliminate crashes from sudden electrical surges, and will alert me if there is an overload or the battery is weak. Tech support is there, albeit somewhat slower than anticipated.

Backup part would not stay on with just the computer plugged in. Finally switched with another backup we already had and put it on a security camera system for it to work.

Because of power pulses (very short losses of power due to high winds and grid issues)I experienced some computer issues and in particular, a hard drive that became unusual due to a boot sector problem. Since I was really not looking for a UPS that could power me through a blackout, this little baby did the trick. It provides smooth, constant power even when the lights flicker and gives me time to do a powered shut down. I have been using it for over a month and so far no problems. Pros are that Windows 7 automatically senses it when the USB hookup is attached to my computer and knows that there is a battery backup and allows for native Windows power management. Cons are that the manual is almost non-existent, the on line software is cryptic and I never figured out how to install a "power down" application in case we loose power for an extended period. Time will tell how long the battery lasts and how much it will cost to replace it when it does. Overall, this unit performs the functions I bought it for and the price was only marginally more than a "fancy" surge protector.

I'm not sure if I received a defective unit or the unit was just undersized for my application. In any event it kept acting like it was overloaded even when I only had my laptop, router and modem plugged into it. I sent it back. Amazon's return process is excellant.

I bought a new battery for my old Tripp Lite unit that is larger. It had served me very well for several years and with the new battery is working fine once again. I'm happy with Tripp Lite, just not that particular unit.

Philips Fidelio DS9000 Primo Speaker Dock for iPod/iPhone/iPad (Brown/Black)

Philips Fidelio DS9000 Primo Speaker Dock for iPod/iPhone/iPad
  • Compatible with all iPod products with a 30-pin connector (except iPod shuffle)
  • Compatible with the newest iPod nano and touch models; also compatible with iPhone, iPhone 3G and 3GS, and iPhone 4

Want an iPhone dock? Confused? So was I, until I gathered enough intelligence on the subject to open a library. Eventually, I overcame severe purchase-inertia (it's a new term I've learnt which means "stalling on a purchase due to information overload"...if you're a fellow geek, you'll understand) and thankfully, I have now resolved my oh-so First World Problem of "buying the best iPhone dock possible". Here I present my findings to fellow Amazonians, free of charge. Aren't you lucky little beans?

First, let's rewind to my pre-research iPhone dock ruminations, when I set some "purchase criteria". "An iPhone dock must sound superb", I said to myself one day reflectively. "And it must be compatible with *both* an iPhone 4 and an iPad 2 for music playback" and... "the iOS device must be clearly visible for navigation purposes when docked: that's also important."

This dismissed all average-to-good sounding speakerdocks, including some good budget choices such as the Logitech S715i and the pricier SoundFreaq SomethingOrOther. Despite the price value of these options, having listened to them at various stores including Best Buy, PC World and John Lewis (yes I really am that...thorough) I decided that they were just a disappointment in terms of sound quality: good but just not great. And by "sound quality" I'm referring to the *clarity* of the sound, not the ability to reproduce low frequency bass notes at ear crushing levels, as some other dubiously praised budget options are designed to do extremely well (see the frankly ludicrous marketing of the KitSound Boom Dock here on Amazon, for example).

These criteria led to various in-store product "auditions". (Sales people seem to love that phrase: "Would you like to 'audition' this one, Sir?" "Sure, don't mind if I do. Shall I put on a rubber Simon Cowell mask and award points in a superior, narcissistic manner as well?"). Anyway, these "auditions" led to a shortlist which included the Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin Air, the Arcam rCube, the Philips Fidelio Primo DS9000, and the Harman Kardon Go Play 2. Of these, I dismissed the Harman because of the design. The iPhone is not visible from the front, and that is just plain disappointing. It sounds lovely, but the design is an issue. It also can't dock an iPad. It does have a baby brother called the Harman Go Play Micro, which solves the visibility problem in exchange for a sin: quite significantly less punchy sound quality. I also dismissed the rCube because it can't dock an iPad, and because it really doesn't "feel" as beautiful a product as either the Fidelio Primo or the Zeppelin Air.

So then, what of the big two?

Let's be clear: they both sound utterly superb and there is very little to split them in terms of sound quality. If testing them blind, I would not be able to distinguish between them. Beware reviewers who say things like "X wiped the floor with Y". No it didn't. The audio characteristics of these excellently engineered products are too comparable for this long-time audiophile to detect any substantive differences, so consider the matter simply one of personal preference and budget. Unless of course you have superhuman hearing! :-)

The good news is that the Fidelio is significantly cheaper than the Zeppelin and looks absolutely fantastic. It's made of sheets of wood to form a beautifully carved-looking device which elicits major geekgasms each time I look at it. After hearing it, I was sold. I saw no reason to pay twice the price for a Zeppelin when the same sound quality was achievable in this phenomenal product. And if there are any brand snobs out there, I'll have you know that Philips is a Dutch company which invented the compact cassette and have a long tradition of important contributions to the history of technology. Indeed their attention to detail is quite evident in the DS9000. The dock connector, for example, has been engineered to accept any iDevice. Even my 2003 iPod works with it perfectly without the need for an annoying, fiddly adaptor.

To be sure, the Zeppelin Air has Airplay technology built in, which the Fidelio lacks. This is nice. It allows you to stream music over WiFi stright to the dock. The Fidelio lacks this feature, but it wasn't important to me because there is plenty of flexibility in streaming music wirelessly without Airplay. I use Apple's Home Sharing mode to stream my entire iTunes library from my MacBook over WiFi to both my iPad 2 and iPhone 4. It works a treat. The iDevice must be docked for this to work, but it works well and negates the need to obsess over AirPlay for music streaming. The other alternative is to buy an AirPort Express and run an Auxiliary cable from it to the 3.5mm port (it has one) at the back of the Fidelio for wireless music streaming. Still another idea would be to buy a bluetooth 3.5mm receiver for little over a tenner here on Amazon and plug it into the aux port on the Fidelio and simply stream via bluetooth from an iOS device. In short though, AirPlay was no big deal for me. Nice, but not crucial.

Having now purchased and used the Fidelio Primo for a month, I am truly smitten. This ranks as one of the best technology purchases I have ever made, alongside the iPad 2, MacBook Air, Cowon D2 and Sennheiser HD 595. Audiophiles will truly appreciate the Fidelio's sound quality, and this is no mean feat for a speakerdock. The fact is, the Fidelio Primo doesn't just sound good "for a speakerdock". It sounds spectacular, period. It normally retails at £400, so Amazon's current price is scarcely believable. If you have the inclination, do go ahead and have your own in-store "auditions" of my shortlisted speakerdocks. I challenge you to find one that sounds better. Philips engineers, if you're reading this: I tip my hat. I don't own one, but you know what I mean. :-)

I don't know much about the sound to comment on it, not to mention it's highly subjective. Take my review for few basic comments.

1. This dock is extremely simple, without much function. For instance, there is not even power on/off button. You plug in the power, and it's on all the time through standby mode.

2. It's inconvenient to control your ipod once it's attached to the dock; pandora is fine, but if you want to go through your music files, or want to search on youtube for music, it's like using ipod on 90 degree angle.

3. Since its power is always on, you can hear the annoying (Hssss...) sound when your ipod is attached. You can eliminate this sound by pressing AUX button on a remote, but it's a pain if you are sensitive.

4. Dock doesn't support a headphone! Arrrrhhh... It has AUX slot for external devices, but it would have been nice if this dock could eliminate the use of amp for ipod/headphone.

5. No support for ipad, both as a charger and speaker.

6. Its application, fidello, is extremely simple as well. You see a lot of complains on its review, and I was surprised because I chose this dock instead of more expensive zeppelin with an idea that a new model in 2010 must have better support.

While some people have complained about this dock's shape, I am quite fond of it. My main complain is lack of support for headphone, hissing sound(barely audible, but still a pain to turn it off through AUX button), and the steep angle of ipod on it. Also, the 3.5 AUX cable provided is extremely poor in quality(probably cost a dollar or two), and I think Philips could have done better considering this dock's price.

The DS9000 has an understated presence compared to the rival B&W Zeppelin's distinctive aesthetic. The DS9000 sounds very good no matter what genre of music I threw at it. I loaded up Tina Turner for that sexy throaty vocal, Sarah Brightman for the delicate notes, Celine's sweet highs, Iglesias & INXS for those clear timbres, and my favourite Bruce Springsteen's Streets Of Philadelphia, the DS9000 just belched out the full punchy lows and high notes without crackling and any hint of fatigue. However, I noticed the DS9000 stepped up & revealed its real potential at certain level of loudness threshold ( 30-45%) as I detected the mid & high notes became crispier, clearer and upfront; just too bad that I cannot tell you the exact level because there's no built-in indicator nor one on the Apple device. Below this threshold, the low notes slightly overshadowed the output. The audio quality you get from the DS9000 is great with a medium audio spatial; you simply cannot compare nor look to bathe in the enveloping acoustic energy pumped out from $3K & above speaker system.

I feel that anyone who's concerned enough with sound quality and love to listen to their music on the daily basis from their Ipod/Iphone or other devices, the docking station device like the DS9000 holds tremendous value & convenience for what you're getting for your money. I can honestly say that listening to any great tunes only brightens the mood anytime of the day. So, while many of you will feel that ~$500 is an absurd amount of money to spend on an amazing sounding iPod/Iphone dock, just put that price into the context of replacing the cost of mood altering drugs. ..hehehe

The DS9000 sounds better than the majority of docking stations and hi-fi systems currently in the sub $500 market. You have the option of spending a lot more to get a hi-fi set-up that that sounds better than this, but surely it will be over $1K mark.

unpacked, attached cord and it works. Even with my Ipad. Great sound is all I need. and a beautiful design for my living room. worth every penny. PPS, download the fidelio app, makes the operation of ipod function on phone or ipad easier.

I hope Philips continually improves the software portion of the pairing between this speaker and the iPhone/iTouch. It has its quirks, regarding remote function, access to playlists/albums, etc.

But it pays you back for these glitches in the aesthetic of its very accurate and refined sound. It has presence. Smooth, detailed midrange is the hallmark of this speaker, and it is quite obvious from its level of refinement that Philips paid attention to the SPEAKER, rather than go the Bose route of putting in whatever cheap drivers fit the cabinet and then devising an electronic EQ curve to straighten out the flaws in the hardware.

Doing it right is a lot harder, but it is worth it in the end. You can still apply your ipod eq settings if you wish, but if the music you're listening to was properly mastered you're actually screwing up what the producers hoped you would hear. The hallmark of good sound is faithful reproduction of what the engineers in the studio recorded, and that is the obvious goal of the DS9000.

It doesn't have perfect sound. No single-cabinet speaker can hope to achieve full stereo separation, and the size of the cabinet dictates the limit of bass response. The bass reflex design of this particular cabinet ensures quite robust bass response down to its limit, then a quick rolloff after that. It's a trade-off small speakers have been making for decades. My KEF reference RDM 2s have a similar rolloff point to this speaker. They are small and similarly well-made. They also sound better, because I can place them strategically in the room to achieve the best possible stereo image and drive them with higher quality electronics. They work very well in my living room with a hidden subwoofer getting the very bottom octave, something I don't have with the Fidelio in my office. But the living room setup, with its remotely-located electronics and hidden wiring, is much more expensive than a simple iPhone dock, and it had better beat it in sound. The Philips does its job of playing music while charging my phone in the office very well.

For the price, this speaker has obvious competitors at B&W and Bose, plus a variety of boutique small-volume manufacturers that charge a bit more and may or may not offer better sound. I prefer the Fidelio over the Zeppelin mostly on looks--they both sound great but the Zeppelin just doesn't look as good. I LOVE the natural wood in its curved-form cabinet on this thing. The speaker cloth on the front could have been worked a bit--think removable grilles and beautiful wood front baffles like a Totem or Sonus Faber speaker--but that would have increased the price. I'd pay more for such a tribute to hi-fi, though, and I know a lot of guys who agree with me. The full black cloth front cover hides the budget cut.

There probably isn't enough of a market for truly good sound in such a small, portable one-piece system, or more manufacturers would be applying Philips' and Bowers & Wilkins' $500 formula for a good-sounding iPhone speaker. Once you get above that, your sound system is probably going to have separate speakers and a good amplifier, and then have a little charging dock that plugs into that. I have a dock with my living room setup, and the preamp includes full iPod/iPhone controls on the remote through the USB connection. It doesn't throw the iPod display up on the screen, but it does tell you which playlist you're choosing and lists your songs. It's limited kind of like the app for the Philips. There's plenty of room for software tweaking. At some point everybody will realize that any home with a Wi-Fi network can be set up to stream content to and from any and all devices on the network.

When that day comes, there'll be an app on my iPhone that gives me full remote control of my stereo/tv setup, along with wireless streaming of all the music and video on my iPhone directly to the stereo/tv without having to plug it into anything. Wouldn't that be great? Your phone is not only your remote, but your player as well?

Right now I find that with Netflix and Hulu Plus etc. on Roku, along with the DVR for football season, I don't play as much music on the stereo as I should, because there is so much video content to view. Perhaps cutting down on Top Gear reruns and increasing the amount of opera choruses and symphonies coming through those KEFs would benefit my kids and me. That's why I enjoy this Philips. It reminds me of why I got into Good Sound in the first place.

It's about the music.

UNLOCKED QWERTY DUAL SIM QUAD BAND FM GSM CELL PHONE i5 PRO BLACK

UNLOCKED QWERTY DUAL SIM QUAD BAND FM GSM CELL PHONE i5 PRO BLACKI purchased this little phone in white. It is unlocked and has 2 sims card holder and one for a small micros sd slot for memory. The camera works, the text and phone works just fine, but I can't get the alarm clock to work. It also always says A.M. no matter whether it is am or pm. So I set it to 24 hr format to just keep from getting confused. It does keep time ok. The battery does not hold hold charge for very long, the ad I saw said that a Nokia battery was available was compatible for it, although I have no idea which Nokia battery that would be, and I have had a lot of Nokia phones and they tend to hold charge for a long time so I assume that would be because they have good batteries. I don't have internet on my phone so I cannot comment on whether that works well or not. It is a nice little phone and I don't know why I can't get the alarm to work, I have set alarms in a lot of other phones without any problems.

loved it. It was just what I thought........ .................. ................. ................. ........ ... .... .... .. . . . .

iHome iH27 Portable Alarm Clock for iPod (Black)

iHome iH27 Portable Alarm Clock for iPod
  • Compatibility: iPod mini; iPod nano 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G; iPod classic 4G, 5.5G, 6G; iPod touch 1G, 2G
  • Wake and sleep to your iPod music or buzzer, with gradual alarm
  • Four Reson8 speakers (2 passive and 2 active) for superior stereo sound
  • Auxiliary input for use with external devices; A/V output for connecting to TV/stereo
  • Runs on AC or four AA batteries; includes protective carrying case

I can't imagine what they were thinking when they designed this thing.

Here's the problem. If you have an ipod in the unit you cannot wake up to the buzzer, only the ipod. If you go to sleep with the ipod on, playing some mellow music at low volume, this is what you will hear for your morning alarm. It's not going to wake you. You cannot use the buzzer for an alarm unless you take the ipod out. What's the point of having it?

Mine is going back.

Buy iHome iH27 Portable Alarm Clock for iPod (Black) Now

When my iHome iH27 arrived, I was dismayed to find that it didn't work. No sound from the dock or from the Line-In, and no light on the panel. It also didn't seem to be charging my iPod, whether it was in the case or not in the case.

After a tech-support email finally made the rounds (turn-around time: 2 days) I was told to remove the little built-in back-up battery from the device, wait 30 seconds, and then put it back in and try again. I was happy to see that this worked.

The sound is decent, the alarm is OK, and the clock works like-well-a clock. I don't really need this to be much more than what it is, and I don't really care whether the alarm is from my iPod or the clock itself, as long as it goes off as scheduled. What I really cared about was having a charging dock that provided speakers, and didn't start up iTunes and go through the sync like my PC does when I dock my iPod (and yes, I know I can disable that, but I want it to be automatic when I need to sync, and so I leave it that way). In terms of being a charging speaker dock, this works well. The speakers are sufficiently loud, the charging works as advertised. No complaints here.

However, there's one glaring issue that has plagued all iHome devices I've used, and that's the use of different-sized plates in the dock to fit all the different iPods. It's completely unfriendly to those of us who use slim-fit cases on our iPods, and there are a lot of us, judging from the number of them available and being reviewed online. I'm not snapping open the case every time I want to use the official iPod touch dock plate on this device, and none of the other plates really fit all that well, either. I can go without a dock plate, but that leaves the iPod sitting there without support, and that's not a great option.

I'm looking over at the iPad dock I'm using for my iPod touch... Now THAT is an intelligent design. Instead of needing a specific plate to fit each iPod, they just built up a slanted wall behind the dock connector, which lets my iPod touch rest safely and securely. Why couldn't iHome do that? Why not make a universal connection that doesn't require different plates? At the very least, why not make plates that take into account the extra millimeter of material for the vast number of iPods being protected by a close-fitting case or skin?

As it is, I had to take a razor blade to a spare plate, and cut out a bigger slot for my iPod touch to fit into it, along with the slim case I prefer to keep on my device. I would gladly have purchased a plate if they made them in the right size, but a look at iHome's website shows no plates that even support the iPod touch 4th generation, let alone plates that will support an iPod touch 4G with a case on it.

I'll also note that there was no iPhone plate in the package at all. None. If you have an iPhone, you don't get one. Sorry. You'll have to cut the iPod classic plate open, I guess.

On the plus side, the iH27 comes with a nice carrying sleeve (see, iHome? EVEN YOUR DOCK HAS A CASE!) and folds to travel easily. The folding worries me a bit because it actually folds down over the AC adapter port, and if you accidentally fold it down without disconnecting AC power, you might just bend your AC adapter's connection... I doubt this will be an issue, but it's a curious design choice, nonetheless.

Another curious choice was to have the black alarm clock unit gain its power from a white AC cord. So you have this black device with a stark white cable coming out the back of it, and it looks a little tacky. You could always use batteries, but I can't imagine they'd be a good idea for long-term use. Fine for travel, sure, but if you plan to dock your iPod a lot, batteries will surely drain quickly.

iHome told me that this product is discontinued, and so my review-though on a new item-is a tad late to the game. I can report that it works with the 4th Gen iPod touch (as long as you carve out your own docking plate for a good fit), but as it is an older model, you may want to be sure before buying it... Newer iPods may not be compatible.

I'd give it one more star if only the docking plates were more user-friendly and varied.

this is an excellant investment! i was a bit tired of using my head phones and needed an alternative. along came ihome and i am at home with my ipod! when i got it i wasnt expecting much because of the small size but boy was i suprised! the sounds are deep and the midranges and treble does not overpower it as i had expexted it to sound like a speaker in a soupcan or something. the sounds are clear and the fidelity is rich and almost like one of the more expensive docks. the base does not sound like the speaker is farting. it is all around an excelent investment and i am glad i got oneIH27B Port Alarm for IpodSdi IH27B Port Alarm For Ipod (SDI IH27B)!

I have enjoyed previous iHome products, but I am not happy about this one. I got this one because it was one of the only alarm clocks that had an aux/out port which is important for iPod touch users. The problem is that the alarm will use the iPod if it is plugged in and not the buzzer. The buzzer will go off if there is not iPod charging (good luck if you just wanted to charge your iPod overnight.) There is no way to tell it to always use the buzzer when you have an ipod on the charger. I will never buy a iHome product again because of this, I have wasted too much money on them.

Sharp SPC820B Quartz Analog Alarm Clock (White)

Sharp SPC820B Quartz Analog Alarm Clock
  • Quartz analog alarm Clock with easy to read dial
  • Hi/Low alarm volume
  • Luminous glow in the dark hands
  • Snooze/light button to activate the back light and snooze

This is a great inexpensive clock, except for the on/off tab on the alarm. It's a wheel (primative) that you can only turn with your thumb or finger. I find it difficult, at best, and impossible unless you pick up and push with one hand, while rotating the wheel in the clock. You have to hold or pick up the clock (not necessarily what I want to do when I'm half asleep) in order to use finger or thumb force to rotate the wheel to the off/on position. A switch or button would have been much more convenient and practical. The clock itself and alarm work great. The snooze button is a one-step push located on the top of the clock. The snooze feature is how they SHOULD have modeled the on/off switch for the alarm. Sharp SPC820B Quartz Analog Alarm Clock (White)

Geneva Sound MODEL XS / BLACK Compact Stereo Sound System

Geneva Sound MODEL XS / BLACK Compact Stereo Sound System
  • Bluetooth A2DP for wireless music streaming from any Bluetooth-enabled device, such as iPad, iPhone, and other smartphones and tablets.
  • Digital FM Radio
  • Alarm clock
  • Rechargeable battery - over 5 hours playtime on single charge
  • Water-resistant leather case

I own several Tivoli Songbooks, and have owned my Geneva XS since late July (2012). So it's been a month now, and I still haven't decided which I like best.

I've taken the XS, rather than the Tivoli, on two week-long trips. This is because the XS is about half the size of the Tivoli, and can retreat into its shell. Unlike other reviewers, I've had no hinge problems.

The XS on Geneva's website is rated at 12 watts, yet its top volume sounds comparable to the Tivoli. The Tivoli plays voice better, the Geneva, music better. Bass is good on the Tivoli, yet even cleaner on the XS. I wish the XS had a voice/music switch (aka bass boost switch), because for talk shows I'd switch it off.

The XS turns on easily; the button to do so is both electronic and recessed. However, its other controls are easy to confuse.

Sensitivity and selectivity of the XS and Tivoli are comparable. Note that, while it is not obvious, the XS does have an FM antenna.

The XS's display peeking through its grille is stylish.

So, which to buy? Relative to each other, The Tivoli is better stationary, and the XS is better traveling. I've even been able to squeeze the XS in my pants pocket. Still can't decide? Then I recommend flipping a coin, because both the Tivoli and the XS can fill a standard sized room (like a hotel room) with high quality sound.

9/7/12: The only setup needed for the XS was to turn it on; the battery was already installed. I mention this because "The most helpful critical review" mentions problems installing the XSs battery.

I got my Geneva XS two months ago. I travel 3-5 days a week for work, and this unit has gone everywhere with me. And it works great. I can pair it with my iPhone or iPad to listen to music via bluetooth. I use the radio station to listen to weather, traffic and the games (Go Pats!). It's got a line-in cable, for my wife's old school iPod with no bluetooth. It's wicked simple to use. I've noticed some people said they had a problem with the. Not me. It's tough enough to toss in my bag and go. Battery life lasts a while. So, I definitely recommend it.

Menu system is a bit unintuituve at first, but not terrible.

There is a full sound, but expect no base out of it -exceeding 56 or so on the volume menu causes distortion

sustained a drop of about 2ft when a friend accidentally brushed by it and knocked it off the end table -the minimal force and short fall was enough to snap off the flimsy plastic hinges which hold it to the case. It still works, but simply has difficulty standing correctly now, and is no longer able to hinge in the clamshell. Would have expected significantly more durability for the price, such as hinges which can snap on and off should for instance the device take a tiny fall.

Used with a projector for a portable entertainment system, it gets the job done and fairly well -not so excellent for music however.

Want Geneva Sound MODEL XS / BLACK Compact Stereo Sound System Discount?

Just bought this speaker for $250 so I could use it in an antique car with no stereo. I tested the sound in the store and was satisfied. I wished it came with a DC to USB power/charger cable but was fairly confident I could find one. (Seems stupid that they wouldn't have considered that people would like the option to charge off of a computer or other USB source like a cigarette lighter)

So I found a USB adapter to charge off the cigarette lighter USB plug. 1.5 hours into a 3 hour drive, I hit a very small bump and the speaker shut off. I realized one of the two tabs that hold the speaker open had broken off just from falling shut. Without these tabs, the speaker does not work. It will only function in the open "triangle"position. The case needs to be touching the edge of the speaker so the hidden magnet is connected. WHY would the designers back up such an important step with 1mm plastic tabs? While inspecting this, I also noticed the ultra thin .5mm hinge holding the bottom together was already splitting 1/4 or the distance across the hinge.

Needless to say I am very unhappy and am going to try returning this beautiful, but extremely flawed speaker. It's a shame such a good idea was executed so poorly.

Save $0.95 Off

I had similar problems as others did here with the incredibly fragile cheap plastic hinges, one of which broke pretty much upon opening. An unnecessarily complicated battery installation with an overly long cord (who was the design engineer on this product??) makes for a strange battery set up that I had to tweak as the battery compartment plastic was bent and wouldn't receive the plug at first. And then, to top that all off, it just didn't work as promised. Stay away.

I love wi-fi radios and have a Pandora One account and also a Sirius account. I don't think there is a room in my house that does not stream some sort of internet radio whether it be a Chumby, Roku, or through my iPod touches.

Opening the box I liked that the unit it small. It has a big plug, I tried it in the kitchen but the plug is so big I was not able to plug back in an air freshener to the top plug because the Mondo took so much room in the outlet.

Once plugged in, I found my wireless network and entering the password I had to laugh. Get ready to spin the dial in front up and down and all around. Once connected, it asked if I wanted a firmware upgrade, which of course I did.

I went and logged into my Sirius account, again be prepared to be patient and sit there spinning the dial all over the place. One typo is hard to fix. I went into the settings and changed the clock, it will display it in 12 format or 24. I also wanted to register the device; you just go to the website and enter in the code that is provided on the screen on the Mondo. Once registered, it will display a screen with many options such as "Get more stuff". I am glad I clicked it because you can link your accounts through your computer and you do not have to sit there and spin the dial like crazy. This was a nice feature. I added Pandora through this feature and it linked it right away. I love that Pandora is integrated on the device and also on the remote. Quick thumbs up or fast forward right there without trying to find it, great feature! The next option on the website is to "Manage My Stuff". This is where you can manage your station, your streams, and your podcasts. The last is "Manage My Radios". It will display the unit you have registered and if you have more than one you would select it here.

I like that the unit comes with a remote. The remote is rather bulky though. I am used to iHome devices that have really small remotes and the size of a lighter and really thin. This is about half the size of a TV remote and thick. It works OK but I found using the buttons on the device a lot easier to navigate around than the remote. It does come with batteries which is a plus. It also comes with audio cables if you want to hook it up to your home stereo system. Since I have all the channels I want streaming from my Rokus, that is not a feature I will use but it is nice to have. It also has an AUX jack if you want to plug in a MP3 device. Plus a USB input as well.

One great thing, if you add a channel through the website, it lets you know the kbps that it is broadcasted in. I think that is important, you want to make sure you are getting a high stream. I will admit I could not get a lot of the stations to play even when associating them to the correct program. Several did not work, but when they did, it was nice to sample it on my laptop and add the channel to my list and know it will be in my station list on the unit.

From the main unit it has my weather built in; it shows the weather for several days with one click, or dial! It has my local fm stations which you are able to record through the DAR.fm, which is a free service. It has a built in equalizer or presets to choose from. I can't think of one feature it does not have!

Right now my favorite device in my home is either my iPod touch that I kept docked on my iHome or streaming my Pandora through an Acer tablet through a Bluetooth speaker. However, this device has everything my other favorite units have, and it is all built in! The sound is wonderful! I have kept it in the kitchen and usually stream a new age station on Pandora while cleaning or if cooking/cleaning I turn it to Sirius and listen to Hair Nation, I am a metalhead at heart. Very impressed with this unit, I have never owned a Grace unit but they have proved they are up there with the other competitors.

Updated on January 30, 2012: I use this product every day I am in my kitchen. I had to forgo my air freshener since it takes my whole outlet but the trade off was worth it! Every time I am in the kitchen I am listening to the channels. I did want to add that if you add Sirius, you must have a main subscription then you add the internet radio part to your account, it cost $3.50 a month. With that you are able to get regular channels internet radio only, which to me is great. I tried to see what live365 was about but did not like their channels and found their prices to be extremely high if you want commercial free. I believe it was $71.40 billed every 12 months for the cheapest per month subscription. I am a hard core Pandora fan and user and pay $36 I believe a year to have commercial free, more skips, and higher streaming quality. The Mondo is Pandora friendly so it really suits my needs. I did try out iheartradio which is another application and I like it so far. It is like Pandora, just not as sophisticated, it is also free.

Updated March 26, 2012: I still am in love with this radio as much if not more than the day I got it. I have it in the kitchen and did a firmware upgrade on my router and noticed after I could not get connected to the Mondo. It kept saying enter saved key and kept me in a loop. It also would say connecting and not buffer. It was easy to understand it was my router, and not the radio. I went back to the older firmware and it still was not working. One of my friends asked if it the signal was possibly being blocked to the radio. Living in a small home I discounted that. The radio does let you see your wifi signal strength and mine was reading 5%. I then unplugged it and brought it into another room and it read 100% percent signal and immediately connected and buffered. I then moved it back to the kitchen and noticed the wall it was next to has a lot of metal in it. Once I pull the radio away from the wall the signal goes straight up and I stay connected now. Basically if you have problems connecting, trying plugging it into another room, see if that works. Something might be interfering with the signal. I also wanted to add I never use the remote that came with it. However, I did download from the Apple app store an application called, "grace digitalremote control". I kept searching for grace radio, so be sure you look up grace digital. Once you load the app it finds your radio on the wifi network. It then loads the song that is playing in Pandora and has the Pandora interface. I LOVE it. I will take a picture of it and upload it to the gallery to show you the difference. It has a color image of what is playing and the thumbs up, down, volume control, skip, etc. I love it because I keep my iPod touch with me and it is easier than the remote.

Update March 28, 2012: Since I like this radio so much I want to have the flexibility to take it from room to room. I sometimes stay in the kitchen if a good song is on, I want to be able to unplug the unit and carry it with me. Plus, I am moving into a much bigger house with a lot more room and land, meaning a large deck. I wanted to get the rechargeable battery and noticed it was almost 35 on Amazon. I then noticed it was almost 40 on Grace Digital. I looked online for coupons but found none. I ended up calling and spoke to Megan at Grace who was very polite. She said she would give me 20% of which the battery was about 32 and free ground shipping. Once I get the battery, I will review and link it from here.

Update March 28, 2013: I can't believe it has been a year since I updated this. My mondo is still used daily in my home and looks like new! I have moved it into a bathroom so my daughter can get ready with it and I can use it when on that side of the house. I bought the battery back from Grace so I am able to unplug the radio and take it into any room with me. I love the bigger clock display. If I could change one thing about it, it would be while the music is playing that the time in the lower left was a bigger. I have to be right in front of it to see the time, it is small. But otherwise I use it primary for Pandora and just LOVE it!

Buy Grace Digital GDI-IRC6000w Wi-Fi Music Player with 3.5-Inch Color Display (White) Now

At 68 years of age, I have been a radio nut, owning innumerable radios since I was 10 years old (including many amateur and shortwave radios employed during more than 50 years as a "ham" operator). I have never enjoyed a radio quite as much as the Grace Mondo.

I have owned other internet radios, including a Sanyo R227 and have used iPod Touch and smartphones to listen to internet radio. I once used Sirius XM in the house for a couple of years (still use it in the car). I've had countless FM radios, shortwave radios, high-sensitivity AM radios, and even many scanner radios. But none could provide the width and depth of information and entertainment that this unit does -and as easily as it does it.

Basically, the Mondo will pick up just about anything in the world, including every single AM and FM station anywhere near me (and it knows what those are from your IP address). It can tune in thousands upon thousands of podcasts. It can easily find and provide any kind of music you want, including many channels without advertising.

I am an OTR (old time radio) fan -not the music, but the drama, comedy, western, sci-fi, mystery, and other shows from the 30s through the 50s. Scores of internet broadcasters provide non-stop OTR around the clock, and using Grace's relationship with Reciva, I can quickly find and save many old-time broadcasters to listen to on the Mondo. (I was introduced to Reciva with the Sanyo, and it has a user-friendly, efficient, uncluttered website that lets you search for and sample tens of thousands of stations with your home computer, and then program them into your Mondo.)

Aside from internet channels, there's Pandora, the free music (and comedy) system that works very well on the Mondo, enabling you to create customized channels in almost infinite variety.

"Little things" I like:

* The bright, colorful screen (not boring like monochrome, text-only screens -which are so 20th Century and difficult to read)

* Earphone jack on side toward front; if you use radio bedside, as I do, and listen to radio at night with an earphone, you want it to be easy to connect and disconnect earphones; radios with plugs in the rear are just awful for this.

* The ability to use a battery (though the required optional battery, in my opinion, is overpriced). It's very cool to be able to easily move the radio and enjoy its sounds anywhere within range of your wi-fi. There is a built-in finger handle to make carrying easy.

* Size: Not too big, not too small. Just right.

* Controls: work smoothly, solidly and do not feel cheesy.

* Volume control: It's a knob atop the set, an odd location, but at least it is a knob instead of those annoying, hard-to-use buttons found on many sets, including the Sanyo.

* Pandora: This radio works very well with Pandora, and even has the ability to thumbs up/down selections (though sometimes I get a message that the thumbing service is not available -don't know why).

* NOAA: Many of the VHF weather channels have been preprogrammed into this unit so you can listen to NOAA weather broadcasts all over the country (and Canadian versions, too). Unfortunately, a few are miscalibrated. When I try to listen to the Connecticut NOAA station that's listed, it returns a Minnesota station.

* Remote: Unit comes with a remote, which you might think is unneeded, but which I use a lot, especially for the fact that it has all 10 memory keys; the radio itself has only five plus a shift key to get you 6 to 10. Some people complain it's too big; I like the size. The little ones, like the Sanyo remote, are easy to lose.

* Input and output jacks, if you want to increase its sound quality or usefulness.

* Setup: It was really quick and easy.

Things that could be better:

* Sound: It's good, clear and crisp -and, of course, digital -but I wish it were a bit richer. The sound is adjustable, by the way, with a modest equalizer.

* Buttons, such as memories, should be backlighted. This is a great bedside radio -but that means it may be used a lot in the dark. (I find myself using the remote in the dark because the keys are light-colored, and the screen gives off enough light so I can see the keys!)

* Screen fonts: could be bigger for my geezer eyes. On many channels, including Pandora, you are told what is playing, but if your eyes ain't great, you have to get up close.

The Grace Digital GDI-IRC6000 Wi-Fi Music Player with 3.5-Inch Color Display (Black) (Mondo) is the latest digital audio product from Grace. The setup was a breeze, and I connected with my Wi-Fi router within 2 minutes, and was up and listening to Internet radio in literally 5 minutes. The voice and music quality are excellent. The color LCD display is a joy to navigate through.

I only have two small nits about the Mondo:

1. Be careful when you use the built-in handle to move the Mondo around, it could slip from your grasp easily.

2. The supplied remote control works, but the Mondo at times responded sluggishly to my commands on the remote.

There, I just laid out all my complaints about the Mondo.

People, buy this radio if you can. You will be glad you did.

After knocking my beloved Logitech Squeezebox off my nightstand, I was in the market for a new radio. I decided to give the Grace Mondo a shot, and it was well worth it. From a distance, it looks very similar to the Squeezebox. Even up close the radios looks very alike. The finish on both radios is an identical gloss black. Layout of the controls is different, with each radio having its advantages. The biggest difference is that the Grace Mondo has a 40% larger, easier to read screen. It really makes the Squezzebox 2.4" screen look tiny. Performance wise the Mondo works flawlessly on my network. The biggest thing I miss from my Squeezebox is the lack of "Slacker". The Mondo comes with a remote, which was an option on the Squeezebox. If you're in the market for a Wi-Fi radio, The Grace Mondo is an excellent choice.

Grace Digital's Wi-Fi Music Player A.K.A Mondo (Black) is a very good Internet Radio player there is no doubt about it. We now have a very serious contender for the Logitech Squeezebox . Competition is always good. It will make ways for better products in the future and I strongly believe on this that "Internet Radio" is the future of radio technology.

Well, I have seen AM Radios Long Wave, Medium Wave, Short Wave Radios in my past, Then came "FM radio" and I was blown away by the "Stereo" sound and still is a very good medium to listen to even though the broadcasting range is severely limited. Satellite Radio is there but comes with a steep price in terms of monthly fees and the hardware to run it is generally more expensive also.

Internet Radio which was already there in the PC is now being made available in a portable easy to use interface without the need for a PC to stream music from radio stations.

The beauty of Internet Radio technology is that you are not limited to a specific location in order to receive the broadcasts around the world, now you are not limited to local stations on your AM dial or FM dial nor you need a long antenna to get Stereo sound. Internet radios like Grace Digital's Mondo makes listening to radio stations around the world super easy!

PROS

[+] Sound quality is very good Love it!

[+] Rich Glossy Black design Looks beautiful!

[+] Remote and all accessories included

CONS

[-] Remote feels very cheap.

While it is a serious contender for logitech's Squeezebox there are some annoying bugs which can be easily fixed

by firmware update. Please read the comments section to see the observations in detail and feel free to comment on them.

As it stands now, if you were to choose between Logitech Squeezebox Radio Music Player with Color Screen (Black) and Grace Digital Wi-Fi Music Player with 3.5-Inch Color Display (GDI-IRC6000) (Black) I would still consider Logitech Squeezebox for the feature rich offerings and excellent display even though it does not include remote.

If good quality sound (Ability to stream at high bit rates) and ease of having a Snooze button is a priority for you then Mondo is a very good choice!

Bottom-line: It is a 3 star product! It is a very good Internet Radio player No doubt about it.

If the price falls below 120 dollars it is a "steal" and will have serious competition with Logitech's Squeezebox.

RCA RP5600 SmartSnooze Dual Wake Digital AM/FM CD Clock Radio

RCA RP5600 SmartSnooze Dual Wake Digital AM/FM CD Clock Radio
  • Wake to Radio, CD or Alarm - This feature gives the user the choice of waking up to the alarm, a favorite radio station, or any track of a favorite CDTop Load CD - This unit has a top load CD door system for
  • Nap Function - Allows the user to set a quick alarm for a short interval of sleep without disturbing the alarm settings
  • Programmable Snooze - Turns off the alarm or radio for an extra 9 minutes of sleep or can be programmed for 1-30 minutes; you can snooze up to 2 hours
  • Dual Wake- Individual wake time indicators allow for two different alarm settings for two different users.
  • Digital AM/FM CD Clock Radio with Backlit LCD Display - This AM/FM CD clock radio has a 0.9" blue LCD display for easy readability

I just bought this alarm, so I will be updating on it's functionality soon, but here are my initial thoughts:

FEATURES This alarm has a decent amount of features for the price. One of the complaints I read in other reviews is that you cannot choose the CD track on the alarm function, it would just wake to the first track of the CD. This alarm allows you to set the track, wake to the radio, or to a buzzer. It also has two wake settings, adjustable "snooze/nap" time and gradual wake alarm (starts soft and increases over 30 seconds). It also has "sleep" mode which allows you to listen to the radio or CD with an automatic off so that you can still wake to the alarm in the morning. It has a back-up battery which allows it to run off the battery in the event of a power failure. The display has a bright (which is blue and clear enough to read from a distance) and dim (which is nice and muted and doesn't light the whole room). It was more compact in size than the Sony model that had similar features (and a bit cheaper too).

**Now one of the main complaints on this model is sound. I think people have an unrealistic idea of what a $25 cd alarm sound should sound like. For a cheap cd alarm radio, the sound is actually pretty good. The radio reception is good, and yes you can hear the CD spinning especially during track change, but let's face it... You are not spending the $100+ that great sound systems like BOSE cost. If you are looking for exceptional sound quality you are going to need to fork out the extra money to buy a higher end model. Even RCA makes a higher end model that I'm sure has improved quality of sound.**

My only wish on this alarm is that it have the smart-set technology which automatically sets your alarm after it has been unplugged or loses power. Other than that, this is a great alarm for the money!

Buy RCA RP5600 SmartSnooze Dual Wake Digital AM/FM CD Clock Radio Now

Okay, one would think that the CD spinning up would not be louder than the music, but it is loud enough to wake me before the music comes on. The unit has a cylinder in the CD cover which sits on the CD to hold it down, and this rotates in a plastic housing, making an amazingly loud plastic on plastic scraping sound. But wait, it gets worse! The CD continues to spin during the snooze period, so you don't hear music, just scraping plastic. And when you look at the display to see how much more snooze (/being annoyed) time you have left, the display is showing the track number, not the time. The thing is a CLOCK radio, it should ALWAYS show the time, especially when you're debating whether to get up now or wait another minute.

I received this for Christmas, I'm going to exchange it.

Other notes: The dim setting of the display is still way too bright. You can wake up to any track of the CD, but it would be nice if the thing could pick one at random each morning.

What I'd really love is a clock with a BUILT-IN mp3 player -no moving parts except the switches...

Two years ago my wife got me one of these for my birthday and I was skeptical. I wanted a clock radio that would play cd's and had even purchased and returned a Sony Dream Machine (Sony you should be ashamed of yourself...it didn't even have a battery backup). After having looked around for quite awhile I sort of gave up and decided to just keep my old radio/tape player alarm even though it didn't have a cd player. I was looking for something with a small enough footprint to fit on my nightstand, something that was easy to use and sounded good. It didn't take me too long to realize my wife succeeded where I had failed. She was pretty happy with her purchase, because after hearing from me about all the things I was looking for, she knew this was going to be a winner. To put it briefly the RCA RP5600 has everything a radio/cd alarm clock should and nothing it shouldn't. If you've spent anytime at all looking around at clock radios with or without cd players, you'll especially appreciate the RP5600. All the switches for setting the clock, setting the alarms, turning the radio on/off, turning the cd on/off, changing cd tracks...etc. are all simple to use, totally intuitive and LARGE. It never ceases to amaze me when well known manufacturers of electronic equipment continue to use those tiny, tiny, minuscule one-switch-does-all control buttons with the indistinguishable detents. The RP5600 has ONE SWITCH FOR EACH FUNCTION...which means no more fumbling in the dark while you're half awake trying to figure out if your alarm is set or not or if you're going to wake to your favorite cd or the alarm or if its even going to go off. Also, one glance at the display will clearly tell you what all your settings are. The sound is much better than I expected and it plays commercially prerecorded as well as recorded cd's. It wouldn't have crossed my mind to write this review, but recently my college bound daughter realized she needed an alarm clock as she headed out the door. You can probably guess who needed to get a duplicate.

I've only owned it for a few days, but it's working out really nice on my desk at work. It's very compact, takes up very little space, but has a really nice sound from the radio and cd player. Nothing fancy, no bass boost or equalizer etc, but those features aren't really needed, after all this is not a high end product. However, I'm pleasantly surprised and very pleased with the quality of sound. Not to mention the value, I got mine at WalMart for $, usually things cost less at Amazon.com but not this time. Shop around and you can probably find a better buy than the current listing of $ here at Amazon.com on . If my current Sony that I have in the bedroom ever goes out, it will be replaced by this RCA Clock Radio CD Player, it's such a value with great sound and takes up very little space. Great value.

Well I searched high and low for a CD Clock Radio for my wifes

birthday. After looking everywhere, and all over Amazon, this was

the unit I decided on. It really is a great clock radio and she

loves it.

As far as the squeaky/scratch noise others here have mentioned

in their reviews, heres the thing, it only make that horrible noise if

you turn on the CD player WITHOUT a disk in it. Once a disc is

put in it is very quiet. As quiet as any other CD player.

The display is large, bright, and a really cool shade of blue. It also

has a dim setting for the display if it is too bright for you. The dual

alarm setting is really great especially for couples who get up at

different times.

The unit feels nice and solid. It does not feel like cheap junk. This

is definitely a PLUS. When I bought this I was under the impression

that the FM tuner was digital. It IS NOT! It is a little dial on the side,

toward the back.

This brings me to the only drawback to this machine. THE QUALITY

OF THE FM TUNER IS HORRIBLE! I can NOT get ANY stations in

clearly on the radio at all. There is a horrible buzz over all the stations.

I don't know what they were thinking when they made the radio part

of the clock radio. Luckily for me, my wife did not want this for the

radio part of it. She wanted it for the CD part and the alarm part.

All in all this is a GREAT CD clock radio and I recommend it to anyone

who is looking for a CD Clock Radio. Just remember that the radio in

it is useless.

La Crosse Technology WT-3181P 18" Outdoor Atomic Wall Clock with Temperature/Humidity

La Crosse Technology WT-3181P 18' Outdoor Atomic Wall Clock with Temperature/HumidityThis item, sold as an outdoor device, can't be left outdoors if temperadture falls to 41 degrees or lower because, as the manual explains, it will not work below that tempoerature. Itis not water tight, either. Perhaps okay for a covered porch in the tropics but not useless in N. America.

Why is it being sold for outdoor use?

I have returned this item.

Actually, I give it no stars.

Great clock for indoor use. Can only be used outdoors, if kept warm and dry. All advertising states it's weatherproof. The owner's manual and manufacturer website state otherwise. Very disappointed as I purchased specifically for outdoor use.

I purchased this particular clock because it was described as an "Outdoor" clock. Upon receipt of the clock I read the instruction book and under the section entitled "Frequently Asked Questions" is the following:

"Q. Can a La Cross Technology clock be used outdoors?

A. Yes, but only in a dry environment and in a temperature range between 41 F andd 131 F. This clock is NOT water-resistant."

Living in New England, we do get rain and snow and the temperature is frequently below 41 F. The clock has a VERY misleading description!

Nice clock. All I had to do was put a AA battery in it and in about 2 hours it set itself. It's been hanging outside for about a month now in the rain and heat with no problem. Since I live in the south, this has been quite the test for a clock. No complaints here.

Want La Crosse Technology WT-3181P 18" Outdoor Atomic Wall Clock with Temperature/Humidity Discount?

I purchased this clock to use near a spa in an outdoor pool area. Having read previous reviews, I understood that the rear surface of the clock was not weatherproofed. Consequently, we kept it under a cover on a nearby bench.

One day, while re-covering the clock, the cover accidentally tipped the clock over. It fell, face down on the wooden bench from its upright position. Much to my surprise, the face of the clock shattered. It was not a violent fall, and it didn't fall far. But the stress of the fall was enough to have the glass shatter into many pieces. I brought the clock into the house and carefully removed the remaining shattered pieces.

The next day, I found a local glass company and had the face replaced with plexiglass for $24. The glass company commented on how thin the glass was that was used on the face of the clock.

So, my advice to a future buyer would be that this is a fine product...BUT if you're going to use it where it might have some physical stress, be very careful. You might even preemptively decide to replace the glass withe plexi.

Now that I have done that, I'm satisfied with the product.

All in all they are loud, old school, and just awesome. They are a little light, but that doesn't affect performance and should be considered a bonus when you have to lug the thing. Sound quality is above average on good quality mp3s and average for the radio(understandably)All other features function well an as stated There is one thing stopping me from giving this 5 stars(and I don't now if it's been corrected on the new version-it hasn't arrived yet)--

My brother in law took his into his backyard on an 87 degree sunny day for 2.5 hours and all the plastic stickers on it melted like the old shrinky-dink toys and fell off. I would caution anyone using at least the old version(and maybe the new) to throw a white towel over the plastic stickers when the unit is in direct sunlight, or buy the white one.

Besides that, a good buy.

*************Update 1/19/13****************Received 193BT classic version*******************************************

Lets start with the good things:

Sounda little above average, not bad for a boombox-lots of options to tweak sound and raise quality some, equalizer works well.

FeaturesLots and lots of features; maybe I could actually use them all if the unit had come with instructions-NO manual on Lasonic website.

LooksLooks freakin' awesome, like a robot, looks LOUD.

LOUD

BluetoothWorks perfectly. Tracks are switchable from radio.

sd and memory-stick features nice.

Build issues:

Volume knob has play in it., antenna no very robust, not too sure about handle either(they sell these on Lasonic websiteShrinky dink stickers(they sell these too.)Display only viewable at eye level(this is a major pain when the unit is on a table and you need to use the display).

All and all I am very much enjoying this unit and would recommend it despite the minor build issues

I read many past reviews on this item, especially the rather bad reviews on previous models of the I-931, and almost did not buy this stereo because of them.

I finally purchased this radio, and I was pleasantly surprised. No, this does not compete with the high end Boom Boxes of the '80's, but it is just as good, if not better than, most of the "Boom boxes" sold today.

For example, I had a circa 2004 Sony CD/Cassette Boom box, that I ended up giving away because the Radio was so poor it could not pick up a FM station 10 miles away clearly. My Sony 2010 picks up this station without a problem, even my circa 1984 Panasonic Boom box doesbut not the Sony. The Lasonic picks up this station just as well (but not better than) the 1984 Boom box.

The Bluetooth capability is what makes this Boom box shine. I use my iPhone 5 to play music thru the Lasonic, and it works very well.

Bottom line it is good, but not great.

I collect vintage boom boxes and dont really care for any of the contemporary boomboxes of the 90s and 2000s. but the day i saw this i had to have it! I have not been disappointed in my purchase that day. its loud, light weight and the bluetooth technology makes this ghetto blaster so much fun to use. im in love!

I RECEIVED MY STEREO MARCH 27,2013. I WAS EXCITED UNTIL I TURNED IT ON AND CONNECTED MY MP3 PLAYER TO IT. I WAS SURPRISE HOW THE 1960 SOUND CAME OUT OF THE SPEAKERS. THE SPEAKRS SOUNDED LIKE A PORTABLE RECORD PLAYER THAT RUNS BY BATTERIES. THOSE WHO REMEMBER THE PORTABLE RECORD PLAY WOULD UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M SAYING.

I GUESS I WAS FOOLED BY THE WORDS GHETTO BLASTER. IT MADE ME THINK THAT THIS STEREO'S SOUND SYSTEM WOULD BE A LOUD AND CLEAR PARTY MACHINE. I WAS WRONG. THE SOUND WAS CLEAR WHEN THE STEREO WAS SITTING IN MY LAP. WHEN I PUT IT ON THE TABLE AND WALKED AWAY, I NOTICED HOW AMATEURISH IT SOUND. THE SOUND BECAME A LITTLE DISTORTED WHEN THE VOLUME WAS TURNED UP. THE DISTORTION BECOME ANNOYING. I TRIED ADJUSTING THE EQUALIZER TO REMOVE THE DISTORTION. WORKED ONLY A LITTLE.

THE LCD DISPLAY SHOWED DIFFERENT MODES SUCH AS MP3, RDS, BAND/FOLDER, MEMORY PGROGAME MODE THE ONLY MODE THAT DISPLAYED WAS THE RDS-RADIO STATION AND THE MEMORY PROGRAM MODE. THE INSTRUCTION DOES NOT EXPLAIN HOW TO ACCESS THE OTHER MODES. THE INSTRUCTION IS A ONE PAGE SHEET EXPLAINING THE OVERVIEW OF THE STEREO AND HOW TO CONNECT A BLUETOOTH DEVICE. THE IMAGES OF THE OVERVIEW IS NUMBERED SHOWING WHERE EACH FEATURES ARE ON THE STEREO. THE USB SLOT IS LISTED AS 21, BUT 21 IS POINTING TO THE EARPHONE SLOT ON THE IMAGE. THE EARPHONE SLOT IS NOT LISTED AND THE USB SLOT ON THE IMAGE DOES NOT HAVE A NUMBER. 22 POINT TO AND LIST PRESET EQUALIZER BUTTONS, BUT THOSE BUTTONS ARE NOT ON THE STEREO. THE OVERVIEW DOES NOT EXPLAIN THE DIFFERENT BUTTONS NOR HOW TO USE THEM. YOU HAVE TO FIGURE IT OUT YOURSELF.

THIS STEREO IS MOSTLY FOR CASUAL USE AND RELAXATION. IT'S NOT PARTY MACHINE. THE SOUND ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH

WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS STEREO TO ANYONE? DEPENDS ON WHAT THE PERSON IS GOING TO DO WITH IT.

  • Full range bass flex speakers

I bought this a few days ago from Office Max on sale for $59.99 (normally $79.99).

Now, I am taking it back.

The idea is a great one, and the unit looks pretty decent at first.

Unfortunately, looks are deceiving on this one.

1. Speakers occasionally sound like something is touching the cone.

2. You can NOT listen to the radio and see pictures at the same time.

3. The controls are awful! There is a tiny 'exit' button, and a tiny 'ok' button which is surrounded by a circle button with directional arrows.

4. It is NOT a touch screen. That's fine, but the directional arrow button frequently goes a different direction than I intended. Since the menus are all navigated by this circle button, it is very frustrating to use.

5. Radio gets great reception, but controls are clunky. There are five 'buttons' pictured on the screen: Normal, Stations, Record, Favorite, and Scan. Does it record from the radio?? No, you 'record' your favorite stations. You first push 'exit' to get the top button to 'light up' (changes color and flashes the word), then push the down arrow and hope it stops on the 2nd button. If you push 'ok', you can then use the up/down arrows to change stations even though the radio image has a normal radio bar pictured which goes left to right. (left and right is for the volume so you don't turn the volume 'up' or 'down', you turn it left and right!!)

3rd button is record, 4th is Favorite use this after you 'record' your favorite stations, and 5th is Scan. Quickly scans the entire dial to find out where all the stations are.

Good luck with the Photo/Music/Video functions. It takes a while for it to discover all the files/folders on your memory card. Then there is no way to navigate through the pictures or music files.

To sum it up, I am looking forward to the Sony or Panasonic version of this device. For now, I'd rather have NOTHING than have this.

Bought this a few days ago at Bi-Mart on sale for $29.99 and even though the buttons are a little clunky they do the job if you're patient. This thing even plays xvid videos on a SDHC chip. Way Cooooool. It has a phone jack on it too so you can watch a video and not disturb anyone. The nature alarm sounds especially the chicken are great. Both of the clock displays are excellent IMHO. And the radio is nice and clear, better than you would have expected. Lots of nicely set up menus. The ONLY drawback I see is the buttons are a little clunky but for all the features and the low price, they are NO problem at all. This is a 16x9 display and works well for videos, pictures, and the clocks. It isn't the highest resolution of course but for the price its fine and very good with deep rich colors. Did I say it plays XVID/DIVX videos? Worth it for THAT alone..... Runs on 5 Volts at 2 amps.

This product didn't work right from the beginning, but we didn't discover this until after the return period expired since it was a gift. So, we sent it for warrantee service. What a waste of time and more money (for shipping)! It was returned completely inoperable with a speaker cover off (it was only glued on to begin with).

Zadro ZRA01 ogless Stereo Radio Shower Mirror Grab Bar

Zadro ZRA01 ogless Stereo Radio Shower Mirror Grab BarHow many things can be wrong with a product at once? How about everything. First even if this item worked, the clock is so small that there is no way one could view it from a normal distance. When you turn on the radio, the clock re-sets itself to 12:00.

The controls turning on and off the radio are awkwardly placed and the overall design is ill conceived.

The quality of the radio is so tinny and poor that its virutally impossible to listen to. The product feels cheap -as if it might be worth a couple of bucks but certainly not $25.00. It is a badly made product all around.

I agree with the previous review. This thing isn't worth the box it comes in. Most frustrating is the fact that the clock and date both reset every time you turn on the radio, making the clock and date feature worthless. There is no place to hang a razor, you'd think they could have at least added a piece of plastic at the bottom to hang a razor. While I had sucess hanging it with suction cups, there are much better locking suction cups on other products I've tried. These are cheap and will no doubt wear out soon. The only good thing I can say is that the mirror hasn't fogged up...... yet.

Buy Zadro ZRA01 ogless Stereo Radio Shower Mirror Grab Bar Now

I bought one of these things a few weeks ago and frankly it's worthless. The "fogless" mirror fogs easily. The radio is not digital and requires manually dialing it in via a knob. The station selection drifts after a few minutes requiring you to readjust it on the fly with soap in your hair (now in your eyes). The only thing that works right is the simple clock built into the face of the unit. Oh, and don't even think about splashing water on the front of it to remove the fog. If water hits a speaker it will instantly cut out, requiring you to wait until the speaker fully dries out before it works again.

This thing really doesn't work worth a hoot. I'd recommend finding something better like a water-proof Timex wrist watch, a real fogless shower mirror and take singing lessons.

The mirror on this product is terrible, and the radio is very hard to tune in. I am very disappointed in the quality of the build (the little gray plastic piece at the bottom has fallen off). Don't buy this.

Want Zadro ZRA01 ogless Stereo Radio Shower Mirror Grab Bar Discount?

I have the Zadro iSing and got the z Fogless for the second shower.

The mirror isn't fogless whatsoever and the radio can barely tune a station. Worse than that, when you FINALLY do manage to tune into a station, after 5 minutes it goes away and you have to tune into another station. You can't even get back the station you had before.

The iSing from Zadro has a good mirror, much better speakers, and the radio stays tuned into a station permanently. Unfortunately, it's 4x the price. But you get what you pay for. I wouldn't buy this product again.

Memorex MI4703P Dual Alarm Clock Radio for iPod and iPhone (Black)

Memorex MI4703P Dual Alarm Clock Radio for iPod and iPhone
  • Powers and charges your iPhone & iPod devices. Charcoal black, also available in white
  • Dual alarm with ultra simple settings (wake to iPod, radio, or buzzer)
  • Digital FM radio with station presets, includes FM antenna
  • Line-in jack to connect other audio devices
  • Includes AC adapter, battery backup for time (uses 2 AAA batteries not included)

I bought this alarm clock for it's ease of operation and dimmer for the clock, I like almost everything about it except for one not so small thing...the alarm volume. It is NOT adjustable (at least as far as I can tell). It starts out at 20% of max volume for about 30 seconds, then goes to 70% max volume and stays that way! I'm going to try and contact the company to see if there's any way this can be fixed. I like to lay in bed and listen to music for a little while before I get up for the day, but NOT at 70% volume...if not for this "flaw" I would have given it 5 stars.

I decided to use this unit at my desk because the alarm buzzer is so annoying; way too loud for my ears & the wake to radio/iPod is too quiet. I actually prefer to wake to the radio & lie in bed for a few minutes, listening to morning news but this unit is not loud enough for that. The volume is not adjustable for either option! So if you need a loud alarm, this will be a good unit for you. But if you like to wake to iPod or radio, it may not be loud enough. It's really strange that none of the alarm volumes are adjustable.

Pros:

-The sound is really pretty good for an inexpensive clock/iPod/radio. It's not a Bose but it also isn't as expensive. The sound is better than my old Philips iPod/radio/clock/alarm.

-It has 2 separate alarms which is handy for couples wanting to share 1 unit.

-It's easy to set the time & program the radio stations.

-The brightness of the time is adjustable but may be too bright even at the lowest setting for some people. Can also be turned off completely but then you won't see the time & the button is in the back of the unit so wouldn't be easy to find in the dark.

-Charges your iPod in the dock.

-Has a snooze button.

-Has Nap button (10 minutes to 60 minutes) & Sleep button (10 minutes to 90 minutes).

-Can show 24 ("military time") or 12 hour time (regular time). Button is in the back of unit.

Cons:

-The volume disc-style knob is obnoxious IMO. It's a flat disc shape. I would prefer a regular knob because this disc thing is just odd to operate. This disc is also used to adjust the alarm time & the time of day.

-The volume of the alarm is not adjustable.

I really like this alarm clock-radio iPod doc. I like the way that my iPod lies almost flat instead of sticking up out of it like one of the other ones I have. It's easy to set to a play list and timer to go to sleep with. I also like being able to set the display brightness to a level that I like. Some people have said that they don't like it that they can't set the alarm volume and it gets too loud. Myself, I need one that will get louder the longer it goes! After all that's what an Alarm is supposed to do, WAKE YOU UP!! What good is an Alarm Clock that isn't loud enough to WAKE YOUR BU*T UP!!

I'm a heavy sleeper and I can sleep for an extra hour or more with some of radio's I've had with the alarm going off and I've often been late for work because of this so I need one that will eventually get loud enough to wake me up. The FM radio is pretty good in it too. The town that I live in sits in a mountain pocket and its hard to find a radio that will pick up any stations at all here. I can get 4 stations pretty clear with this that I cant get on any other radio. The only thing that I don't really like is since the unit is black, if I don't turn on a bright overhead light I cant see the buttons very well. This makes it hard to see which button to use to preset it to play and shut off etc. It would really help if they were all back lit like the power button is once it is turned on. If they were then I would have given it 5 stars. It has very good sound and will crank it out pretty good for the size that it is. For the sound control I miss having the Bass & Treble controls or at least the Tone High/Low control that they use to have. My iPod has the Equalizer sound control but it would still be nice to have it for the radio too. My other iPod dock alarm/radio has the Bass Boost, but that isn't the same or as good. A little remote control for the volume, playlist selection, and radio station selection etc. would be a nice extra.

Overall I really like this little unit & I think I'm going to get a lot of use out of it. I highly recommend it for your personal use or as a gift for a friend.

Want Memorex MI4703P Dual Alarm Clock Radio for iPod and iPhone (Black) Discount?

I read many of the reviews on this item, and the two bad points that almost made me not buy it were the unadjustable alarm volume and having to take the case off an iPod/iPhone in order to use it in the dock. I changed my mind about these two items when I was able to play around with it at Best Buy using my iPod. First of all, the alarm volume problem is not a problem, in my opinion, if you get up when the alarm goes off, and it doesn't take you five minutes to wake up. The case problem is not a problem for my iPod Touch 2nd Gen and my wife's iPod Touch 4th Gen. They both dock with no problem with the cases on. I suppose the thickness of an iPhone and some of the iPhone cases may prevent them from docking with the clock radio, but I do not own an iPhone.

The clock radio is easy to operate, sounds good for its size, fits nicely on the nightstand, and looks good. One of the best features is the way the dock works. Your device lays down and is supported by an adjustable knob, preventing someone from hitting it and causing damage like on upright docking clock radios. Overall, a very nice clock radio. I recommend this to anyone looking at it.

Purchased this as a Christmas gift for my 15yo son and he loves it... I came home the other night to blasting music coming from upstairs and he informed me it was his new Memorex iPod radio dock... Wow...

He loves the styling, compact size and the way his iPod Touch lays down when docked... he feels it is safer than the kind where the iPod sits sticking up on top...

He is very happy with this, so I am too!
