USB Remote Red Laser Wireless Pointer Media Control PowerPoint Presentation Pointer with with Mouse

USB Remote Red Laser Wireless Pointer Media Control PowerPoint Presentation Pointer with with Mouse Function and Laser Pointer and Page Up/down Presentation Function - up to 20m
  • Main Function: Laser pointer, Page up/down, Mouse
  • Color: Blue and Silver
  • Technology: Radio Frequency
  • Control distance: up to 20m
  • USB plug-and-play, No driver required

This was purchased for my, less than tech savvy, in-laws to use on a fund raising campaign. They had reservations as it arrived right on time, the day their first presentation was to happen. No chance to practice extensively first. They finally plugged it in. The tool is intuitive and a breeze to operate. If only the fund raising was as easy to do! The only downside I have seen so far is that they both tend to play with the laser pointer a bit much.

This bargain-priced PowerPoint remote meets all needs for a typical presentation while adding some useful "bells and whistles". The receiver was immediately recognized and installed on my Windows 7 machine. I quickly had full remote control of PowerPoint presentations along with remote mouse control of the desktop. A clock/timing display on the remote helps keep track of elapsed time, with the option of setting reminders to "move along". Other remotes considered were offered at a higher price while having fewer features. For my occasional use, this remote more than meets my needs at a very fair price. I am very pleased with both the product and the vendor.

Checked out many simliar multi function wireless remotes on the web for use with Powerpoint Presentations. I selected this one because it had all the functions I required and was priced accordingly.

It worked as advertised and I am very pleased with my purchase. Requires only a little "training" to get familiar with the position of the various controls.

Wish I had bought this device sooner.

This is a neat controller and laser pointer for showing PowerPoint presentations. I like that it comes in a little zipper case that fits nicely in my laptop carrying case. It sets up in a minute or two and allows control over the presentation a good distance from the computer.

Product shipped in predicted timing. However, the product description did not match exactly the product that I received. wireless mouse feature does not work at all, it appears that the function is a fake piece that is not meant to be movable. However, changing slides, blank screen and laser pointer options are right on point, the inability to use this as a wireless mouse is detrimental to teaching and presenting.

Creek Audio Limited Evolution 2 CD Player

Creek Audio Limited Evolution 2 CD Player
  • A high quality transport mechanism
  • Low Jitter clock
  • Burr-Brown PCM 1796 DAC circuit

I bought the Creek CD player used from an Amazon vendor, saving about a $1000 on it. Otherwise I would have never considered buying such a high-end player because I couldn't have afforded it. I basically invested with the idea I wanted something to last me a good decade, until the cycle of new technology phasing out older technology to then be revived years later would be complete. It's actually cheaper at present to buy used CDs than downloading mp3s if you want the whole album, plus you still get liner notes, lyrics, etc. I listen to tons of music at home, mostly vinyl records but there's a whole range of albums published in the 1990s to the beginning of the 21st century that never saw a vinyl release (nor are they available on mp3. You would be surprised).

Anyway, the Creek CD player totally astonished me because there IS a difference in the sound quality compared to cheap ones. We tried it first with some Brian Eno ambient music and it came out crystal clear on the speakers. Since then, I've been playing a lot of CDs that used to skip on my old player (John Cale's Paris 1919, The Velvet Underground & Nico, The Fall's Franz Experiment) and they magically stopped skipping. And they sound absolutely gorgeous (especially the John Cale one). I also play a lot of classical music from Bach to Morton Feldman or John Luther Adams, and the listening experience has really been enhanced on the Creek.

In addition, the most notable feature for me was the total absence of shuffling sound from the player. You know how all cheap CD players always produce that annoying "frrrrrt frrrrrt" sound when you play something? It's totally absent from the Creek. Only thing you hear is the music.

So, from being really skeptical about high-end audio equipment I've become a true believer. Next step when I win the lottery is buying a very good amp/power amp & preamp

Elenco Snap Circuits Green - Alternative Energy Kit

Elenco Snap Circuits Green - Alternative Energy KitLast year for Christmas, we bought the Snap Circuits Jr. SC-100 set for our then six-year-old son. The worked through the first half of the experiments on Christmas day! Obviously I didn't have time to explain to him how they all worked, but the point is the instructions are easy to follow and produce entertaining results.

This year, we knew another snap circuits set would be similarly well received. This Green Alternative Energy Kit looked like a great option that didn't repeat too much of what he already had. He loved it again and is eagerly looking forward to designing his own circuits that can combine parts from both sets.

The product is very well packaged--the box it comes in organizes all parts neatly and securely without too much wasted space. The parts are all clearly labeled and easy to snap into place. It includes an FM radio, voltmeter, and a fan/windmill, which are all favorites. The biggest complaint I have is that the hand crank requires enough force to turn it quickly that it is easy to pop that part off of the circuit board. Keeping one hand firmly over the part while using the other hand to do the cranking usually keeps everything secure. Also, the photovoltaic cell doesn't generate enough current except during a very sunny day (which is typical for a cell this size). That said, I would say this set is even more enjoyable than the first set and I would certainly buy it again.

When I asked my son just now what he thought of the set and whether he'd recommend it to others, he said: "It is awesome!"

The Snap Circuits toys are wonderful. My son (just turned 6 last week) received the Snap Circuits Pro for Christmas. We liked it so much that he received the Snap Circuits Green kit for his birthday last week. He has enjoyed building snap circuits into actual items. The instructions are easy to follow. I like that the toy is educational, fun, and durable. I would highly recommend it!

I got this yesterday. For 8 and up. It is the greatest toy I ever had! It's like LEGO, a new toy every day. The only thing is that you have to charge the batteries for several hours before you can start building. It is very easy to put together. The battery charger uses solar so we put in in the sun. I LOVE IT! Get it for your kid. Buy today, don't delay!

Our 5-yr old loves building the projects with me. This is fun for him and very educational. If he has his choice of what he wants to play with out of all his toys, it would be this. Highly recommend!!!

Seriously, I have a 5 year old, so many toys have been purchased in his lifetime, and this is the best one. Not only is it extremely educational, but it keeps his attention, he can do it on his own, the parts are very easy to snap together and the instructions are simple enough for him to follow to make the projects. He picked up on the fact that you can make your own projects too, and learned that if you connect certain items your battery will drain faster, so he uses mostly the solar option with battery backup. We will be purchasing every kit this company puts out for birthdays and Christmas for years to come. I love that they have Junior options and then go up to the bigger kids with more intricate pieces and bigger projects. Just an amazing toy for all ages.

The iLuv iMM727BLK speaker dock is a descent set of speakers. The iLuv App and the Remote Control, however, are a little disappointing. I have evaluated the Speakers, the iLuv App, and the Remote Control separately. First, the Speakers:

Speakers

--------

The speakers measure roughly 11" x 5" x 3.5" (L x W x H).

The sound quality of the speakers is comparable to that on a set of low-end desktop speakers. Although the bass output is a bit lacking, it's entirely acceptable coming from speakers this size. The speakers do buzz a little when the volume is cranked up all the way but, again, that's almost a given on any smaller-sized speaker system. All in all, the sound quality on these speakers isn't bad.

The speakers look very aesthetically pleasing (they look wicked on my nightstand!). I do realize that this speaker system functions primarily as a dock for the iPhone/iPad, but I'm disappointed that they are not rechargeable for cordless/portable operation.

iLuv App (Version 3.0.6)

--------

After you plug in your iPhone/iPad for the first time, you'll be prompted to download and install the iLuv App. The app consists of Clock, Weather, Radio, and iPod functions, selectable with a menu of choices on the bottom of the screen.

There are a few problems with the app that are noteworthy:

o It crashes periodically.

o Once the >>| button advances past the last song of an album, it displays a blank screen. Pressing the |

I'm very impressed by this product. I am one of the heaviest sleepers that you will ever meet. Up until this point no other alarm clock would wake me up. At one time my own mother couldn't even wake me. But now I don't have to rely on anything but this alarm clock. I've found that if you put the bed shaker under your pillow, it works so much better that just laying on it. The bedshaker is what actually wakes me up but once i'm starting to wake up, the sound from the alarm clock keeps me awake. I highly recommend this product.

In short, this item was a major disappointment from the start. While adorable, I found it difficult to program, and it didn't help that there was no instruction manual included; I had to download it (kudos for being green, but slightly inconvenient). I bought the device so I could listen to the radio at work, and noticed right away the antenna was of poor quality, only allowing me to pick up 2 FM radio stations, and even those emitted quite a bit of static. Within the first week, the buttons intermittently stopped working, or began controlling functions it was not supposed to. For example, the power button didn't turn on, when it finally turned on, I couldn't turn it off, and out of nowhere, the volume buttons would change the radio presets and vice-versa. I soon found it unusable, but, of course, not within the return window. I think I could have found a $5 clock radio that would have worked better, and regret having wasted nearly $40 on this piece of junk. No love for iLuv here... =o(

It works well as an alarm clock, and the bed shaker really works. The things I didn't like about it is that the front is more slanted backwards than in the picture, so you can't read the time if it's not below eye level. I also don't like how the backlight is blue, because it doesn't show that in the pictures. The cord is not very long at all..maybe just over 4 feet. The sound quality isn't the best, but it works well for an alarm and I still listen to music on it without the quality bothering me too much. Overall it does what it says and I like it a lot!

I had read several different reviews from different websites, and there seemed to be a fifty percent chance that it might work. So I decided to try it, and I can tell you it is one of the best alarm clocks I've ever used. I bought this alarm clock because I am in college and I'm a very light sleeper. So I wear ear plugs at night for the best sleep possible. The bed shaker does a great job of waking you up. Although it is pretty loud, it does the job. The alarm can be somewhat hard to set at times but for the most part it's a great alarm clock. I also loved that there was an ipod dock, and radio. So over all a truly amazing alarm clock!

Yamaha PDX-11 30-Pin iPod/iPhone Speaker Dock (White)

Yamaha PDX-11 30-Pin iPod/iPhone Speaker Dock
  • AC and battery powered for maximum mobility
  • Remote unit for easy operation
  • Rugged Design in Four Colors
  • Amazing Sound Quality
  • Super-large 10 cm (4-Inch) woofer to ensure strong bass and beautiful mid-range frequencies

I bought this speaker a couple weeks ago and wanted to really try it out before writing my review. I could't be happier about this purchase. It was exactly what I was looking for. It's the perfect speaker for my bedroom and for music on the go. I love the handle on top; I just grab it on the way out the door. I've already used it at the beach and while working outside. I bought a set of rechargeable batteries (might as well invest in those to take advantage of the portable feature), and it's just as powerful on batteries and sounds just as full and powerful outside.

It easily fills my bedroom with music in clear highs and lows. The base is much stronger than I expected, and it is especially strong when you place the back end of it a few inches in front of a wall or hard surface. I use it everyday for music and even use it as my alarm clock with a free alarm app I got on my iphone! Now i get to wake up to my own music, and with the remote I can turn it up or down from bed. Whenever I'm cooking I grab it and take it to the kitchen. It's so nice to have great sound that you can move around so easily!

I have gotten positive comments on it from almost all of my recent guests. They like the style and the sound. I know there are others in my family that now want one. I think I'll be buying a couple more for Christmas gifts! I'd definitely recommend this ipod speaker dock. For 99 bucks it's a steal.

Surprisingly light weight. I expected it to be more subtantial. That said, this Yamaha speaker has VERY high-quality sound (for it's size) at low to medium volume levels. Try to make it play loud enough for a backyard party (which is what I bought it for), and it struggles. The sound quality deteriorates, and I feared I might blow the speaker, so had to turn it down.

If you want BACKGROUND music for outdoor entertaining, it does that very well, but if you want the music to really be "listened to" in the backyard, look into adding some outdoor speakers to your home system.

Since it doesn't meet my primary need, I considered returning it, but it sounds so good indoors that I am happy to have it, and will probably send it with my son when he goes off to college in a year. It will be PERFECT for a dorm room or sitting on the beach. The remote is handy, and the unit controls my iPod exactly the way it should.

Yamaha makes the best bang-for-the-buck A/V receiver, so I felt confident that this would be a good product. I probably had unrealistic expectations. It is a small, portable system after all.

On a scale of 1-10, I would give it the following rating by purpose:

BEDROOM: 7 (It is too big for a normal nightstand)

KITCHEN: 9 (If you have the counter space for it)

DEN: 9

GAMEROOM: 10

COVERED PATIO: 10

BACKYARD PARTY: 5

COLLEGE DORM ROOM: 10 (I would have LOVED this at college)

SITTING ON THE BEACH: 9 (I'd give it a '10' but it is not protected from the sand and water)

BEACH PARTY: 3 (Just not loud enough)

CAMPING: 10

If you need is a great-sounding iPod dock for indoors, BUY IT!

This is such a great portable player! I can't believe the sound even when your outside. I play beach volleyball and put it next to the court when I'm training :) Nothing gets you through a tough practice like listening to music, and being able to hear it the whole time! It also has amazing battery life while not completely draining your ipod/iphone. Definitely a great Yamaha product and great price for the quality you get.

I purchased a PDX-11 as a smaller, easier to transport alternative to my old JVC Kaboom box. If you dont remember those, they produce actual, significant bass -but weigh 23lbs, run on 8 D-cells, and are the size of a medium Schnauzer. In hindsight I was asking for the impossible given the PDX-11's much smaller size and weight, and I was ready to return it after the first few hours when I found the bass lacking at high volumes. Then, after several days of listening at more moderate levels, it won me over. In fact, I didn't realize how good it was until two things happened: 1) At a friend's house they were entertaining with a higher priced and much fancier iPod dock. It had me cringing inside because of how tinny it sounded in comparison. 2) At moderate, "most-of-the-time" volumes, the PDX-11 has a really rich, room filling sound that belies its size. Throw in the fact that it's super portable, very easy to operate, sports some cool aesthetics and it's a keeper. At risk of sounding like a paid endorser, I'll just mention a few negatives. There is some apparent electronic trickery going on at high volumes, about 90 percent and up, wherein the lower frequencies (bass) are increasingly cut -It doesn't sound so good cranked to "11", and this is probably what caused my bad first impression about the lack of bass. Also, it would be awful nice if it were rechargeable instead of requiring 6 AAs. Finally, ease of use translates into super minimalist controls it offers power and volume up/down buttons, a green and a red LED and, well, that's about it. Fine by me, sound quality trumps duplicating the display you already have on your music player. Overall, the PDX-11 strikes a great balance. It offers great sound wherever you take it, and at this price you will not be afraid to take it anywhere.

UPDATE: Nearly a year into ownership, I haven't changed my opinion one bit, and I'd like to add that this thing is durable. I have really tested that part in my original review about "not being afraid to take it anywhere." I've dropped it into the sea (after a few cocktails perhaps), left it out in the rain, got if full of sand at the beach and packed it in luggage that really went through the wringer. OK, after dropping it in the sea I did have to take it apart and dry the inner circuit boards with a hair dryer, and I learned to take the batteries out before packing it in checked luggage otherwise the added weight breaks the cover if it gets slammed, but the little bugger still puts out great sound. Those fancy chrome bolts are all rusted now but that's about the worst of it. I'm tempted to get the bluetooth version Yamaha now offers. . . Oh yeah, if you spring for lithium AA batteries it's good for about 20+ hours of run time at moderate volumes.

I was looking for something to replace my small, battery powered speakers and stumbled upon the PDX-11. I bought it trusting that the sound would be along the lines of other Yamaha speakers we have all heard at concerts, carnivals, conferences, etc. My trust was rewarded! The bass pops, mids and highs are all there...or can be enhanced by changing the EQ in my I-whatever. The remote control operates different things on older and newer Apple gear and even charges some of them. The biggest plus is not having wires like my old stereo speakers did! That was a pain. This unit is simple, sturdy, easy to use, and loud enough to dance to. Keep in mind that is just a small speaker, so don't set your sights too high on volume. There are other more expensive units for that, cheapskate. My main use is for fishing and other outdoor activities...and this unit totally fills that gap. I tied a small pouch to the handle to carry the power cord, remote, ipod, extra batteries, etc. I listen to music a lot and have other stereos/boomboxes...but this little guy (well, it's not that little) is quickly becoming my favorite. As was said elsewhere, people are amazed at the sound that comes out of the PDX-11. Good job, Yamaha!

Package came as it should. Removed the shipping screws and began installation. Early into the install I was stooped when I couldn't find the installation sleeve that fits on the outside of the player. This is the aluminum sleeve you press the tangs down on to keep the unit secure in the dash. I searched for about 20 minutes and finally resorted to calling Lanzar. It was 3 p.m. on a wed. Not a holiday or anything special. I got a machine which transferred me due to it being "after hours". The agent I was transferred to had a voicemail box that was full and I couldn't leave a message. Very angry I began my search online for info on the issue and found out the unit DOES NOT come with a sleeve. It has 2 little metal bars that bolt to the side and half ass hold it in. I was very upset with the poor quality but continued my install. The unit is now installed and shakes around in the dash every time I hit a bump. It also has a very outdated display with a blue backlit screen and simple text that resembles an 80's computer. The sound quality is fair and the features work as they are suppose to so far. It's o.k. at best. I think its not worth the purchase simply because it can't be installed correctly without the sleeve. I would not purchase this unit if I had it to do over again. You choose.

Sony ICF-C7IP Clock Radio for iPod and iPhone with Hidden Sliding Dock Tray

Sony ICF-C7IP Clock Radio for iPod and iPhone with Hidden Sliding Dock Tray
  • Wake up to iPod, iPhone, Radio or Buzzer
  • Dual alarms
  • Digital AM/FM tuner with 15 station presets
  • Preset alarm volume for iPod, iPhone or radio
  • ATS (automatic time set) and automatic daylight savings time

I searched a long time for a combo clock radio and docking station for my iPhone. Although there are several on the market, I wanted something that took up as little space as possible on my night stand, had a display with large numbers, would charge my iPhone, play music from my iPhone as the alarm instead of the radio, and was easy to use.

I FOUND IT!! This Sony clock radio is great, and has TONS of features. I like the large illuminated display, which has different settings depending on how bright you want the light at night. Setting the alarm is very easy (you can go forward and backward through hour and minutes, without having to run completely through the cycle like most clocks), and there are TWO alarm settings. You can set an alarm for weekdays to get you up for work, and then a separate alarm for the weekend. Pretty cool.

The snooze button is nice and big on top of the unit, and let's you take the standard 10 minute snooze, or you can keep pressing the button and lengthen the snooze time up to 60 minutes in 20 minute increments. A nice feature.

There's a sleep feature timer so you can listen to radio or iPhone/iPod music while you fall asleep. For the alarm, you can have a buzz, AM or FM radio, or a tune from your iPhone, and it works great.

Buttons on the front and side are nice and large so you don't have to grope in the dark, and there are a variety of customizable settings.

The best part is the hidden slide-out docking tray. Pop it out when you want to charge your iPhone/iPod or listen to music through the clock's speaker, and push it back in when you don't need it, making the unit's footprint as small as possible. The docking tray comes with adapters to fit iPhone or iPod. I use mine without either adapter because I have a protective case on my iPhone, but it still fits in nicely.

In reading back my review, I sound like a Sony employee, but I'm not. Have no connection to the product, other than I'm a satisfied customer, and would recommend this unit highly to anyone looking for a docking station/clock radio for their iPhone or iPod. There are too many other features to go into here. Have fun discovering all the great things Sony thought of to include on this unit.

Thanks for a great unit, Sony!

Buy Sony ICF-C7IP Clock Radio for iPod and iPhone with Hidden Sliding Dock Tray Now

First off, I want to say that I like almost everything about this alarm clock and that I went to a Best Buy first and tested it (music and all) right next to its bigger Sony sibling (the one with the CD player, called Sony ICFCD3iP CD Clock Radio for iPod and iPhone) as well as the iHomes and Logitech and other competitors. Essentially this one came out the winner in every way IF what you're looking for is an ALARM CLOCK. This is not a speaker system by any stretch (it's not even stereophonic, one speaker), it's not designed to party to or have it produce massive bass sounds. I know this is obvious to most of you but there's always some imbecile who doesn't seem to realize that a little alarm clock barely bigger than your iPhone can't possibly be a stereo system.

As an alarm clock, I loved this little system precisely because it does so much and takes up so little space. The LED lights are not too bright when you go to the lowest setting, the sound is definitely loud enough for you to hear even if you're in the next room at high volume, the iPhone dock is easy to use and can be used with a case on your iPhone. It also looks good and it's nice that the dock cradle slides in, overall it looks A+.

Since I also compared this one in person to the Sony ICFCD3iP CD Clock Radio and tested them both simultaneously, I can offer you these observations if it's helpful to you. I ruled out the iHomes, by the way, because all systems that make you stick your iPhone on top like that are horrible looking, maybe that was cool in 2007 if you thought having an iPhone is cool and you want it brandished like it's a trophy, but that now looks tacky, dated and cluttered. This comparison is between this Sony product vs the one with the CD player:

--Size: I liked the CD player one more because I actually thought this one looks a bit too small. This is purely personal preference, if smaller is better for you then go for this one.

--Layout: I call this a draw. One thing that's better on the CD player one is that since it's bigger, there was room to put the tuner and the preset switches on the sides of the device rather than on the back which is not as convenient. You probably won't use these two switches much though so this probably doesn't matter much. One thing I liked better on this one is that hitting the snooze as you're groggy is pretty safe, but on the CD one, since the opening for the CD player is right in front of the snooze button, you can very well accidentally open the CD tray violently if you hit the snooze and aren't careful.

--Speaker, sound: Basically a draw for me. The Sony descriptions on Amazon, and indeed even on the boxes of the two products, tell you nothing about power. I had to look under the devices themselves (which got me bad looks from the salespeople) to find out that this alarm clock's speaker is rated at 10 watts. The CD player's speaker rated at 16 watts. Normally I'd say this means the CD player clock is better, but oddly at similar volumes in the store, I actually found this alarm clock's speaker to be better defined than the bigger one from the other Sony, and almost as loud. The bass was slightly better on the other one though. But since this is an ALARM CLOCK and not a speaker system by any stretch, I frankly didn't care either way, they're both plenty loud to wake up to music or the radio to and close enough in quality despite the different wattage.

--iPhone dock: here I expected them both to be the same, but I was surprised that the iPhone dock trays are not designed the same, and that this Sony's design of the tray was actually better than the CD player's. The CD player's tray hangs in the air, in that when it opens up there is space under. So when you put your iPhone in you kind of have to grab the tray or else the whole thing tilts, it's not a good setup. The tray that comes out of this clock, on the other hand, has the end of it flush with the clock's bottom and whatever table it's on. So it's much more secure and you can just dock your iPod on it with one hand and not worry about a thing. So the clear loser is the CD alarm, as this one is better designed. Both can fit an iPhone with the case on by the way, just don't use the tray inserts that come with this.

--LED illumination: here too this Sony beats out the CD Sony. Both clocks have three light settings. I put them side by side and tested them both. The upshot is that the bigger one has much brighter LED lights. When I compared both at the lowest setting, the bigger clock was still pretty bright and would be annoying in the dark (unless you're scared of monsters at night and want a night light). At its lowest setting, this Sony here was still just a bit brighter than I would have liked, but not nearly as annoying as the CD player's light. This is a big reason why you see good reviews of this Sony here while the CD player's reviews are generally bad with lots of complaints about the light level.

I did buy this alarm clock and all in all, I really wanted to love it, but over the past two weeks it has infuriated me with one BIG design flaw that is making me return it because it is fatal. It simply can't reliably stay tuned to a radio station so as to wake you up to it.

Now if you don't care at all about waking up to radio, consider this a 5-star review and move on. But I like to wake up to NPR, a strong FM station in my area. I've had an 9-year-old CD player alarm clock beside me before this Sony, and not once did it fail to wake me up to a strong NPR signal when the alarm was set. This brand new Sony, on the other hand, comes in and out! You can test it before going to sleep and the sound is 100% clear, and yet when it comes on in the morning it sounds like it is barely tuned to the station unless you play with the ugly and unsightly antenna cable that sticks out of the back of it. Even if you didn't touch that unsightly cable all night.

Even WORSE, when it comes on like that in the morning, if it is not receiving the FM station well, you don't even get static noise (which at least would still wake you up), you get nothing but a very faint buzzing that doesn't wake anyone up! I've already been late to work three times on account of this clock's failure to maintain a lock on a station. I've even tried testing the position of the ugly antenna before going to bed and having the volume very high, yet still for no apparent reason at all it sometimes fails to lock on in the morning and you sleep peacefully to 8:30 am to a very low audio buzzing sound that seems to lull you into an even deeper sleep.

The culprit is that Sony really cheaped out on the FM receiver.

How they can make such a colossal design flaw on a product that costs more than competitors like iHome that are larger and with better speakers is inexplicable. I really wanted to love this, but it's an ALARM CLOCK and if it simply loses connection to a station in the morning despite the ugly antenna cable and can't wake you up, what good is it? Shame on Sony for having such a design flaw by cheaping out on internal components. Whoever was in charge of approving that is incompetent and should be fired because he doesn't understand retail products, this is not a $20 alarm clock on which you can use cheap transistors to save 50 cents. This is an alarm clock aimed at a slightly higher market and there is an expectation that at the very least it can be reliably counted on to wake us up in the morning.

REVISED REVIEW FROM HERE ON OUT

I am revising my review, going from two to four stars, because as time as gone by the radio reception seems to have improved (but only after careful placement of the antenna cord and making sure it's never moved), and I decided that all the positives and the lack of a good competitor warrants better than two stars. It's still the most compact, efficient and best looking alarm clock out there... I just wish they used better components for the radio receiver.

I wanted to add a quick note about this clock radio because most of the other reviews for clock radios don't address the issue that was the most important to methe strength of the antenna. I was looking for an alarm clock that would get better reception in our bedroom than the one we presently own. This clock is able to pick-up stations that are either too fuzzy to hear or don't even come in on our current clock.

I also like that the iPod dock slides out, so that I don't have a large piece of machinery sitting on my bedside table! I am very pleased with this clock radio and my husband is going to be thrilled on Father's Day!

O.K. I read all the reviews and saw that other complained the clock radio was rather bright. I figured they probaby didnt know you could adjust the brightness of the clock radio and purchased one anyways. I was wrong. The clock radio is extremely bright at night. On the lowest setting it lit up the entire bedroom and I could not sleep unless I put a T-shirt over the clock radio, and a dark t-shirt at that, a white one didn't reduce the brightness much. So beware, it is bright, but other wise works great and charges my 3GS iPhone every night.

I've solved the brightness problem by applying a small piece of leftover automotive window tinting film. The Gila window treatment would work too. Or the cling type film new parents put on car windows to provide shade for new babies. But it needed something. I used a cup to cut out a circle and applied it with water that activates the tinting solvent. Works great and no more spotlight on me at night.

The dual alarm function is great. I've had no problems picking up radio stations at all.

I like this alarm clock radio, but the clock is too bright even on the dimmer setting. I literaly have to cover it up at night or it illuminates the entire room. I like how when the iphone is on the docking station and rings it comes through the speaker so that I can hear it no matter what room I am in.
