Motorola MOTO EX124G Touch Screen Straight Talk

Got this phone on the Black Friday deal at Wal*Mart...for the most part, I am really pleased. It took some getting used to a touch screen phone, but the included stylus is a great way to help initiate you into the touchscreen model. (Hint, that upper right thing is NOT an antenna. Pull it fully out and it's your stylus!)

The websurfing leaves much to be desired. You can't download a lot of free apps that I was hoping for. Unlimited text, web, and talk in the UNITED STATES ONLY. I can't text my friends in Canada, although you can get a calling plan to call them for fairly cheap (3 cents a minute, $10 to start with). The radio feature is kinda fun for when I need it, and you can store mp3s on there (although without a card, not all that much!).

The camera is 3.0mp and takes a decent picture for a phone. The camcorder is also pretty decent and picks up sound well. All in all, this was well worth the amount I paid on Black Friday and the $50 a month it costs for the unlimited plan (including tax). Not so sure I would say that if I hadn't gotten it for so cheap! ($35 for the phone alone)

The touch screen leaves much to be desired. I have to try 2-6 times just to unlock the phone. Texting is very frustrating on this model and I'm really underwhelmed by the features.

I have only used this phone for 2 days, but I can quickly tell its not the phone for me.

I have adjusted to the touch screen, but I am still very disappointed with the programing of this phone. After using it 2 months I still give it 2/5 stars as a review.

The voice quality is worse than any other pre-paid phone I've used. Often conversations are whisper quite while others are blaring loud. My friends and family are tired of me asking them to repeat themselves in conversations. Web browsing is possible, but sluggish and frustrating. It works in a pinch but don't expect to find what you are looking for in under 8 minutes.

The tilt-sensing function is very inaccurate and only available when texting. Calling someone from your phone book is much more complicated then it needs to be; I should be able to accomplish this with no more then 4 buttons/touches. The screen-locking feature kicks in at random times, in the middle of texting or inputting data, what's with that? Can it not tell I'm actively using the phone..

The basic tools are lacking. The calendar is a disappointment but the calculator can add correctly and the voice recorder records, sort of. The camera is 'okay' but sending pictures in MMS is difficult and tedious.

It has way better signal than my old phone. Now I see bars everywhere, even inside the buildings normally you can't get any signal from. It's small and easy to use. I don't have any problem with the features. This really helps lower my phone bill. I got $45 unlimited calling, texting and web browsing. When I said unlimited, I mean unlimited. I talk, text and go on internet all day long, and it's still $45 a month. I've never been happier.

I am very pleased with the phone it is a very nice looking phone and has a lot of stuff on it that I will be using. And I like how loud it rings at least I can hear it when it rings. And was able to download games on it. and lots of music. would consider buying from you again in the near future.

I ordered this and when it came it didn't have all the features that it said it did. No FM radio and no contact icon, or place to put contact info, no You Tube icon, and no calculator. So I like what I have seen so far, but the first day I used it it went black and I couldn't get it back on til day three , by holding the on button and reset at the same time. I will send it back , because I wanted more features, but dread it because then I have to go through the whole process of getting another one and waiting for it to come then figuring it out. With this one though, the best way I found to put videos on was to convert them to 320x420 like in a psp format of an MP4. These work best. Oh and haven's figured out how to put my songs in the favorite folder either.

This is a good mp5 came in 3 days and has allot of uses even though it mostly uses avi and 3gp the video player is good. The music player is a bit confusing but not after you understand how to use it. The camera could be better as well as the touch screen,or at least get a pen for it. The games are ok but i dont know if you can add more. The thing that I didn't like is the earphones that come with it over all it is great especially for its price.

This is my first Smart phone. Bought it without a contract and I am very satisfied with its capability.

Everyone lese in my family has Ipnoes, this seems to have the same funcitonality, there are a tremendous amount of apps, etc. If I had any complaint, it would be typing on the qwerty keypad is somewhat frustrating since the software inserts its interpretation of what I'm typing into texts and searches instead of what I am typing correctly. Smart software = dumb output. Aside from that, good phone with impressive capability. Smaller screen makes int very handy.

So, I used to have a common black alarm clock....but.....it meet an early end(the wall didn't like it much). I figured I'd find one that I wouldn't be tempted to throw...I'm not a morning person.

I looked around at the stores didn't find anything, so I figured I'd look around here, and tada! Hello kitty to the rescue. I really love this alarm clock, since I can set it to radio or the beeping noise if I really need to get up in the morning, and I like the fact that it has a built in light on it, very helpful if I have to find something and I don't want to bother my brother(his room is right across from mine so any light in either of our rooms bothers the other).

Very cute clock! I can't say that I am a fan of Hello Kitty and I wasn't planning on buying anything from this collection. It doesn't even match my nursery decor, but I love it. I hope my daughter will too someday. I have it for the couple of months and it works perfect.

The EMINENCE LEGEND 1218 is one of the most Under-rated speakers around. Usually, when someone thinks of Eminence they think of the Swamp Thang, or Texas Heat. However, if you go to they support a great feature that allows you to do direct comparison by playing sound clips for each of their speakers. It definitely took me some time to sort all the speakers but if you're looking for a thick, phat bottom & mid tone that still has clear high's (not too bright, but definitely not muddy) then the LEGEND 1218 is for you.

OK, here's the deal I wanted an all tube combo amp that wouldn't break the bank and all the reviews I read pointed me to the Crate V-50 112. However, the ONE issue about the amp that constantly came up in the user reviews is how the amp tone GREATLY IMPROVES by simply changing the speaker. Don't get me wrong the Crate V-50 right out of the box sounded nice but when I installed the LEGEND 1218 ($87.00) the sound went from nice to WOW!!! It was as if the all features of this great amp were being held back by the stock 50w speaker. Think about it, an all tube 50 watt amp with a 50 watt max output speaker?? Make sense to you?? Hell NO. There's no head room. The Eminence Legend 1218 is a 8 Ohm, 150 watt output speaker. This gives the amp 100 watts of room to flex its muscle. No Restrictions...

Now the Bass is more than enough, the Reverb shines and the phat tube sound overall is comparable to those very pricey hand wired boutique amps. While this speaker has good versatility for different styles, it's specialty is a big warm clean tone with great note separation. It has deep bass, warm smooth mids, and very responsive to your EQ in treble region. You can dial in strong highs that aren't nasty or dial back for smooth jazz tone. The cone is pretty controlled which makes this a fine speaker for jazz. If you're playing chord melodies or jazz leads and need to hear each note, you're in for a treat. Very full, rich sound. It has plenty of mids, just not the growling type like a Vintage 30. If you're buying this for that cutting hi-mid crunch, it won't have enough juice for you. However, if distorted rock is more the exception than rule in your playing, then it will do a respectable job with pedals just don't expect the speaker to "break up" for you. Clean playing is more the rule these days for me, so this speaker is special. The real test is hitting a low E note while playing some chord work over the top. It sounds like two different speakers with the clarity and note separation amazing!

Also it could not reliably pick up a distant station which I can now get on a boombox(I returned this unit). It's very well made and very easy to program and I would recommend it to anyone who only wants FM as an extra and doesn't plan on listening to FM a lot.

Replaced an old scanner with this one. A good value for the money it has more bells and whistles than I need and found the reception on the FM and AM not too terrific but I didn't buy it for that. Uniden puts out a quality product with decent manual to program. Although I still had a slight problem understanding the groupings of priority channels. But undertand, I am technically challenged so doing it at all is a accomplishment. Don't hesitate to to recommend.

Apple Lightning to 30-Pin Adapter

I own a portable stereo that has a 30 pin connector. I have this unit so I can listen to music and charge my device at the same time.

However after buying a new iPhone 5 I had to purchase this adapter in the hope that it would do the same......no it doesn't.

Does this allow my phone to play music: yes

Does it charge the unit at the same time: no

As a matter of fact my phone says it is incompatible with this device and quits playing through the speaker, occasionally. This adapter also makes the unit sit too high off the device and I am just waiting for it to topple over.

There are no new stereo devices on the market to utilize the new connector, and because the adapter does not allow the unit to be charged while plugged in, I am wondering if one ever will be made.

I gave 3 stars because it does allow my phone to play through the system, otherwise I would give 1 star as it is a waste of money as I can do the same thing with an AUX cable connection that I have that I paid $3.00 for two years ago.......

My stereo is an ALTEC LANSING iMT520 made specifically for iPod and iPhone (pre-iPhone 5).

Part of the reason for this little piece of plastic's high price is circuitry inside that supposedly makes older devices compatible with the new iPhone and iPad's lightning connector. The new connector has only 8 pins where the "dock" connector used for the last decade or so has 30. This means a lot of accessories that used to work with your old phone won't work with the new one.

I have three devices I plugged my iPhone into on a regular basis: a clock radio, a small speaker from Klipsch, and my car. When I bought my iPhone 5 the speaker and clock radio were no longer compatible as the plug simply didn't fit. My car, while it used a USB connector, was not able to talk with the iPhone after the changeover due to how the lightning plug works.

So I thought purchasing this $30 gem would solve all of my problems. Unfortunately it only solved 2 of them. The clock radio and speaker work fine, albeit a little funny looking with the adapter hanging out of the bottom of the phone. The car, however, does not. Apparently whatever is in this adapter to make it compatible with simple devices works, but more complex devices that take more control of the iPhone's media player don't have what they need to operate as before.

My advice is to do a little research before spending your hard earned money on this expensive adapter. While it may give you the flexibility of using all of your old charging cables again, it doesn't seem to provide full compatibility to all of the millions of devices manufactured over the last decade to interface with iPod dock connectors.

I went to the Apple store and bought one of these because I was unsure if this was a genuine Apple one or not and I had to go to Apple anyway for other things. I thought it would be okay because my case is super tiny. I was wrong; it is no good. I have to take my case off to charge and that is a hassle for me, plain and simple. Sure it is only a minor inconvenience but it is one that I think I should not have to deal with. When they make one that works with a case, I will be happy to buy a few of them since I have a ton of the old chargers and I need to keep them to charge my iPad so it is convenient to be able to use one charger for both devices. It is unfortunate that they made it this way.

I actually bought this one to use with my car charger since Apple apparently does not make car chargers at all. The charger I have is useless without this adapter but I will return it and get a new car charger that goes with a USB and then just use the USB to lightning cable. This thing is not worth the money and after a couple of times, it becomes really annoying. Especially in the car. I am pretty disappointed in Apple for making it like this.

UPDATE: I spoke with someone at Apple customer service and she said they just came out with a newer one that has a longer pin and I can bring mine in to exchange it for that one. I will do that and then post a review on the new one. If it still is no good, they promised I would get a full refund. Will update again soon as I have the new one.

UPDATE 2: So I went and exchanged this one to the new product and it is ever-so-slightly-slightly longer but not just barely and not noticeably (and not enough). It fits for me only if I jam it in since I have a very thin, flexible case but, it in effect kind of wears away at my case so continuous use would result in a tear. If you have a case that is harder or slightly bigger than mine, it likely will not work for you. I am planning to take this one back for a refund or get just the regular USB to lightening which I know works.

What changed?

The original 30 pin dock supplied a digital signal, analog audio, video, and more; the new Lightning port is digital only. Analog audio is still available via the headphone jack.

What do you need?

1. If your iPhone interfaces with your stereo through a USB connection, then you can use any adapter available on Amazon, even the cheap ones.

2. If your current dock connects to the radio via a 3.5mm stereo plug, RCA connection, or a cassette adapter, then you will have to use this adapter.

3. If the dock interfaces directly with the audio device, then it could be either digital or analog. You will have to research this yourself. Find out what your device uses and get the appropriate adapter (check the owners manual, contact the manufacturer, do your homework and don't be lazy).

Why would Apple do this?

More and more equipment is going full digital. The components and software used by the digital to analog converter can greatly affect the sound quality. This conversion would be handled far better by radio manufacturers than by Apple. Not to mention that we finally get to ditch the cumbersome, ugly, limited, and outdated 30 pin dock. Kaito/Degen has done it again! I needed a small AM/FM/SW radio for travel and have compared several including the Kaito KA1105, the Kaito KA11, the Kaito 1102, the Grundig G6, the Grundig YB-550PE, the CCRANE SWP (Redsun RP300), the Tecsun PL-450, etc. I am still not done with all my evaluations, but I definitely think that the Ka1101 is a great small and very inexpensive ($~55-60 depending on the vendor) and a very excellent receiver! The identical radio is available in both silver and very dark gray/black. I am extremely impressed right out of the box how well it performs even for quite weak signals and with the antenna on SW not even extended.

PROS:

1) Comes with rechargeable batteries, velcro-sealed slip case, earbuds, long antenna wire, adapter/charger and very readable manual (which fits nicely inside of the supplied slip case!). Batteries are designed to be easily recharged inside the radio.

2) Excellent weak signal reception on ALL bands including Low frequency FM or FML (starting at 70 MHz). It really performs very well!

3) Excellent bandwidth choice for the Wide/narrow switch on the keyboard on AM (MW) and SW and a separate FM, FML tone switch (labeled as Music/news on the right hand side of the radio), a Mono/Stereo switch on the keyboard as well as a Local/DX switch on the left hand side of the radio.

4) Lock switch and external antenna jack.

5) Back light controlled by available ambient lighting with an on-board light sensor system.

6) Numerous tuning methods available.

7) Very high quality and very readable display with numerous icons for charging, battery life, Mono/stereo settings, wide/narrow filter setting, etc.

8) Very long battery life.

9) Simple direct system for changing the 5 individual bands in direct order only (no reversing of the band change direction is possible).

10) Finally, it has a nice and very easy to use reset button on the front panel just in case the system acts irregularly (which I have not observed at all).

CONS: These are all very small and of no great significance whatsoever!

1) Tuning is limited to only the up/down slewing keys with only a 5 KHz frequency step which is relatively coarse, but usually sufficient given its bandwidth (Wide/Narrow) capabilities.

2) Only a total of 50 presets are available (10 on each of the 5 bands), however they are extremely easy and very intuitive to set and recall.

3) Smallish speaker (after all, I wanted the radio to be small and portable so this has to be the case!).

4) No signal strength meter available on-screen or otherwise.

5) It uses 3 AA batteries instead of a pair of batteries. Also, when rechargeable AA's are used, the full battery charge will not register on the screen (only 3 of 4 of the battery indicator icons are visible under these conditions).

After reviewing many radios, I decided because of its price to go with the Kaito. When I received the radio I tried to charge the batteriesone battery refused to charge in a powerex charger. I tried a refresh with no luck. I replaced this battery with a Panasonic that was fully charged. As I opened the battery compartment lid, it fell off. I used tape to hold it on. I could not stand the moth ball smell of the nicely designed case so I threw it away.

Performance is poor. I live in a fringe area and did not expect miracles, but this radio does not come close to pulling in stations that were a breeze with the CC Radio. Ergonomics: The buttons are poorly designed. The on-off switch is flush

with the case and almost impossible to activate by touch.

The volume potentiometer is located on the side of the case where it can be moved accidentally.

It is low cost and that says it all. I will stick to Grundig and Sanjean.

Pretty darned good radio for the size and price. I bought this one after much consideration for travel.

It has everything I need and seems to pull in harder stations with ease. Turning off the sleep timer is a

bit of an annoyance and it would be nice to have the option to turn the backlite on.

I bought the Kaito KA1101 and it was stolen before I could review it. I had it just long enough to know that I had to repurchase it. I bought it from Electronnix through Amazon for $49.95 and free shipping.

Our minivan was totaled while visiting relatives in Indianapolis and then eight days later, while completing our trip in a rental, our car was robbed in Columbus, OH and the radio lost along with my Kaito KA321 and Kaito Voyager V1 (also reviewed).

This is a good radio, excellent for the price! The AM has a "wide/narrow" filter that allows the user to separate one station from another near above or below. Example: 760 WJR Detroit from 780 WBBM Chicago can be listened to without interference using "narrow" setting from where we were staying in Indianapolis. This filter works on AM and SW stations.

This radio has been available from a long while and has always had great reviews for its sensitivity (good solid reception). It comes complete with NiMH batteries, built in charge, AC adapter, earphones that actually sound good (wish could buy them separately), case, long wire antenna and manual. The speaker sounds great for a portable.

SW is divided in two bands and I have no trouble receiving English broadcasts of CRI China for a different view of world news. Amazingly CRI broadcast US sports scores. May broadcasters still use shortwave and times and where to listen can be found on the internet.

FM stereo is excellent through the included headphones and better reception than my home AM/FM receiver.

This review is based on two KA1101's since I didn't have time to review before my first was stolen. I still have to replace my other radios. The Kaito KA 1101 is a very good radio and Electonnix via Amazon shipped quickly at an excellent price.
