A week ago, my trustworthy old clock/radio/CD player finally died after over 10 years of faithful service. When I started looking for a replacement clock/radio, I realized that I didn't care about having a CD player any more, but it would be really useful if I could use it as a docking station/speaker to play music on my iPod or iPhone.

For me, the most frustrating obstacle that I ran into as I searched through various products and reviews was a lack of comprehensive and accurate information regarding compatibility with different iPod/iPhone models! I have a 3rd generation iPod nano and an iPhone 4, and I wanted a dock that would be compatible with either device. For several docking stations, I found that Amazon, the Apple store and the manufacturer's own website had 3 different versions of which iPods/iPhones the dock was supposedly compatible with so which should I believe?

In the end, I was debating between the iHome iP90 and the JBL On Time 200P, and the compatibility issue ended up being the deciding factor. Several reviewers commented that the iHome iP90 only came with docking inserts for a few iPod/iPhone models (not including the iPhone 4), so they had to visit the iHome website to purchase an additional insert to fit the iPhone 4 that cost an extra $5.99 plus shipping. If I'm already paying for a pricy docking station, I want it to be compatible with my devices out of the box; I don't want to mess around with ordering and paying for extra inserts. Since the JBL On Time 200P was advertised on several websites as being compatible with all docking versions of iPod/iPhone, I decided to see for myself... And it was!

**PROS**

1. Compatibility!! Box contains multiple inserts/adaptors that make it compatible with ALL current docking versions of iPod/iPhone. I was able to plug in both my iPod nano 3rd gen and my iPhone 4 with no problems, and listen to music while they charged at the same time!

2. Great overall sound quality (see CONS section for exceptions).

3. Very sleek and stylish design.

4. Bright blue display makes the time clearly visible from across the room. (That said, I put my JBL On Time 200P in the kitchen but if you want to use this device in the bedroom as an alarm clock, I'm not sure whether the display would be too bright...)

5. Simple and clear instruction manual easy to program/use.

6. You can receive incoming calls while the iPhone is plugged into the docking station. Whatever you're listening to gets automatically muted, and the iPhone rings just like normal!

**CONS**

1. The lowest volume setting is not as quiet as I would like I can still hear it clearly in the next room.

2. The sound quality gets a bit distorted if you turn the volume all the way up.

Overall conclusion: I'm very satisfied with the JBL On Time 200P and would definitely recommend it, especially if you've got multiple different iPod/iPhone models and want a device that's compatible with all of them.

I bought this unit mainly because I needed an alarm clock and wanted one packaged with a radio and iphone dock. That being said, this was almost the perfect unit except for one major thing and a few quibbles.

The major problem: the display is waaay too bright!!! I buy an alarm clock for the purpose of waking me up at a very specific time, not to keep me awake all through the night. You can adjust the brightness, but even at it's lowest setting, a blue glow is cast throughout most of my bedroom (12 x 12 feet). It's really mind boggling that the designers could over look this. I'm not the type of person who needs to sleep in pitch black darkness. I can tolerate a night light plugged in by the bed, but the display is way brighter than that.

You can turn off the display completely, but I think it's inconvenient and somewhat illogical. With the display off, it's hard to find the buttons to push in the first place since it's now... dark in the room. Furthermore, it is a clock after all and I would like to know the time without having to push a button... if I could find the buttons in the dark.

PROS:

-Has radio and iphone dock (3G,4)

-Great sound for it's size

-Compact size and stylish

-Has remote

-Backup battery

CONS:

-Display is too bright.

-As others have stated, the alarm is very loud!

-There is no single button surfing for radio presets. You have to hit three buttons to go from one preset to the next. Idiotic. I thought presets were supposed to be convenient.

I bought this alarm clock/speaker from 6ave on Amazon 2 weeks ago and am very happy.

The only problem I have, which is mentioned in other reviews, is that the lowest volume setting is a little loud when the house is quiet in the morning and other people are sleeping. It also automatically keeps increasing the volume up to a certain point until you hit snooze or turn the alarm off.

Also, it works with my iPod Nano 5th generation, but didn't come with the right base adapter, so I have to use the white one that came with my iPod. The dock comes with multiple clear adapters, so people with iPhones or other iPod versions may not have to order/use one they already have.

Things I love:

~It has 7 completely independent alarms, each of which can be set to wake to radio, iPod/iPhone, buzzer, or auxiliary player (cord included). Each alarm can be set for a certain day of the week, weekdays, weekends, one time, or 7 days a week!!! I haven't seen another alarm clock with so many options!!!

~You can set the snooze to however many minutes you want! My old clock snoozed for 7 minutes, with no options.

~The screen includes TONS of information including showing which alarm time(s) are set, if the sleep feature is on and for how many more minutes (15, 30 & 60 min options), it gives the time and day of the week, radio station/artist/song when the radio is on, etc.

~It has 10 digital radio presets which makes it quick and easy to run through your favorite stations, AM or FM. (No more scroll wheel for me!)

~The speaker is a good size for a night stand and nice design.

~The buttons are very intuitive and by the second day I could navigate everything easily in the dark.

~AM/FM reception in my location is good without the external antennas.

~The screen has adjustable brightness and contrast settings.

~The remote is a nice feature, but some people have complained about it's durability. I don't expect to use it much, but it's nice to have. It also controls your iPod/iPhone menus so you can change songs or playlists.

~It charges your iPod/iPhone while docked. I was surprised many other systems don't.

~Lighted buttons make navigating menus in the dark a breeze.

UPDATE: After having this speaker dock for exactly 1 month the display died. I only got a blue screen with no text no matter what I did. I called JBL since it's under warranty and they had me troubleshoot a few things to make sure the contrast wasn't just turned down, then had me fax my receipt and they are sending me another unit. In the meantime, I'm left using my cell phone as an alarm... At least their customer service is good.

UPDATE 2/6/13: I haven't had any problems with the replacement unit and have been very happy with it the last year and a half. I would buy it again.

I've really been enjoying my 708. It runs cool enough to be fine inside my tv console with the door closed. Another thing I like is it comes with RIHD (disabled by default) which basically means it talks to my Samsung TV that also has RIHD. I can control the AVR volume with my tv remote. The TV automatically turns off it's own speakers and outputs sound to the 708 if the 708 is on. Otherwise, it just uses it's own speakers. Also, if I turn off my tv it automatically turns off the 708 for me.

Networking with Windows 7 was a breeze as well. All I had to do was make sure Windows Media Player allowed the 708 to use it and I was good to go.

Getting internet radio was also easy. I didn't have to do anything special to get it to work. It's nice to be able to listen to net radio without having my computer turned on. vTuner is nice since it has several local stations. I've always loved Pandora and this makes it that much better.

Switching inputs does take a few seconds but that's not really something I care about and wouldn't have really noticed if people hadn't asked about it due to issues with previous Onkyo models.

I use my fat PS3 to watch Blu-Ray movies and they look the same as they did before which is great. It seems to do surround sound just fine through the PS3 as well using Linear PCM. The analog tv signal also looks the same as it did before.

I haven't hooked up my PC through this yet but will get around to it and update my review.

Edit: RIHD has started causing problems. With it enabled I've had times when I would turn on the receiver and get no sound from the speakers. The only things that worked to get sound from the receiver again was to either A)unplug it B) turn off RIHD.

I've also had Pandora lock up the NET/USB input. It would get stuck at 100% buffering. With RIHD on, the only way to get use of the input back was to unplug the receiver and plug it back in. I now have RIHD permanently disable because it's just not worth the hassle.

I've now hooked up my PC through the optical input and it sounds great. The HDMI input is worthless though. My video card outputs to the 16 x 9 resolution my HDTV uses but the 708 is still scaling it to a 16 x 10 ratio which makes the tv cut off some of the top and bottom of the screen. I just went ahead and plugged the computer video back into the tv and only use the 708 for the sound and that works fine.

Synopsis: The TX-NR708 is a great value in this price range. It has THX Select 2, three 7.2 sound fields; they include 7.2 discrete HD/EX, Dolby z, and Audyssey DSX wide. There are connections for up to 11 speakers (excluding the 2 subs. Note that the 7.2 specification means that there are 2 preamp outs for 2 powered subwoofers). There are more than 50 listening modes to obtain the perfect sound for your room and source. For video processing, there are a total of 7 HDMI inputs (along with 2 component, 4 S-Video, and 5 composite inputs) 6 in the back, 1 in the front. Digital audio inputs: 3 coax and 2 optical. The remote is easy to use and setup for your other components. Menus are relatively straight forward, though there is a learning curve, depending on complexity of your particular setup. This receiver also has network connectivity with Upnp, and a webpage interface, making it simple to change fields without your remote, enhancing the TX-NR708 network's usability. With the release of future firmware updates, one can envision Onkyo adding features that will keep your home theater cutting edge. The power rating is 110 watts per channel, 8 ohm, @ .08% harmonic distortion, providing this receiver with enough power and clean sound for a small to medium sized room.

Setup

If you have all HDMI inputs, setting up the TX-NR708 is a breeze, given you already have your speaker wires run, of course. The binding posts are high quality and have a smooth feeling and, unlike some other receivers, it's easy to tell when the wires are secured. Since this receiver has binding posts for 11 speakers, connecting the speakers would have been confusing if I had not first researched the new Audyssey DSX and Dolby z sound enhancements, which are simply awesome in my view (more on that later). The drawback is that you need 4 more speakers to enjoy them. I extended wires and labeled them for testing later. If you do this make sure that you do not allow the wires to short. Tape them until you are ready to connect your speakers.

My setup, speaker wise, is nothing special. I use 2 large generic 3-way speakers, placed on either side of a 6' entertainment center for my fronts (not sure who makes them, but they have good balance and frequency response). A Polk CSi3 center channel sits above my 50" LG plasma TV. I advise you not to skimp on the front and center speakers. For surrounds and Audyssey DSX wides, two pairs of Sony SS-B1000 speakers serve nicely. For the heights, I thought I'd try a pair of Pyramid 4080 budget speakers, with wall mounts included. It was a perfect solution for the z channels, and they go down to a solid 100 Hz after being broken in. A BIC America V-1220 12-Inch powered sub provides all the low end punch I'll ever need. Placement for the `wide' and the `high' speakers can be tricky. Perfect placement (according to this diagram: is generally not an option. From the diagram I mathematically calculated placement for my room, and was able to place them pretty close to where their sweet spots were supposed to be. The heights (Dolby z speakers) are about 5 feet above and 3 feet wide of my fronts, while the wide speakers (Audyssey DSX) are placed at ear level, about 4 and a half feet toward the center of the room away and 3 feet wide of the fronts.

Listening and Watching

The first thing I noticed when I powered up the receiver was an improvement in my satellite TV picture, especially in the text at the top of the screen. Next, I ran the Audyssey speaker setup and it balanced out all the disparate speakers perfectly into a seamless sound field. I popped in "The Transporter" movie (DVD), and tested the new sound fields. They were both awesome. "IP Man" is a good movie to test the z channels, as well, especially the final fight scene. The Dolby z field makes your room seem bigger than it actually is, expanding the front sound stage, while the Audyssey DSX field seems to bring the front action closer to you with more detail. At least that is the best way I can describe it. No doubt others will describe their sound experience differently with respect to these new fields. Whatever the case, these new sound dimensions provide a definite enhancement, in my view. And the discrete 7-channel DTS-HD Master in "Shoot `Em Up" does justice to that new Blu-ray sound format, as does "Hellboy II: The Golden Army."

The Dolby z field works well with THX and gives you a lot of versatility when it comes to sound conditioning. Perhaps in a future firmware update, Onkyo will allow you to put the z and width channels together, like they already do with some of their high end receivers. If so, one might expect a net reduction in the power output, since more speakers will be running at once, and the power will have to be divided between them; thus, it would be equivalent to 9.2 or even 11.2 surround sound coming in the form of new listening modes.

Even though I only listened to Winamp radio and network radio, the sound quality was superb. I listen to jazz mostly, so I cannot comment on rock or other genres. Additionally, one would expect the sound quality of CD's and higher quality input sources to be even better.

Ease of Setup: Menus.

For the most part, I found the TX-NR708 menus to be pretty straight forward. I had no problem assigning components to my inputs of choice, with one exception. That exception being the sound input for an HDMI source when it does not come from the HDMI connector. For some reason the TX-NR708 does not let you do it from their main I/O Assign menu; you can only do it by using the "home' button on the remote while in that particular source mode. This might be necessary, for example, if you want to use computer motherboard digital coax sound with your HDMI video card output. Since Audyssey did such a good job setting up my speakers, I did not need to change any of those settings. Keep in mind that the Sub crossover frequency is set automatically in accordance with the rest of your speakers. You can, however, adjust the LFE crossover setting manually if you want. There are menus for THX and other sound conditioning (such as Audyssey EQ and Dynamic Volume), as well, and you'll need to experiment with those to find out what best suits your particular listening preferences. There is also a menu for programming your remote, eliminating the need to reference a manual for a code list.

Remote Control

The remote control that comes with the TX-NR708 is very good. The buttons are well organized and, unlike my last receiver, it is the only one I need for the basic listening functions of all my components. Programming this remote for other components, such as your TV, satellite/cable, and Blu-ray player is made simple by an onscreen menu. And once you're all set up, the pre-programmed macro buttons simplify operation even more. Moreover, this remote is a great improvement over the one that came with my Dish Network receiver; the TX-NR708 remote is more powerful than the Dish remote, eliminating the need to aim and press a button multiple times to get the receiver to respond.

Network

The network features that come with this receiver are sweet. Being a computer technician by trade, I appreciate the added functionality. Most users probably will use the default DHCP setting for assigning IP addresses, but you have the option to set them manually as well. Be aware that it is a wired connection, so you'll need an access point, or a bridged computer and a switch to make use of it, unless you already have an available network cable wired to your entertainment center. In many cases, the v-tuner feature will make it unnecessary to use an external FM antenna to listen to local stations. Add Pandora, audio streaming from your computer, and other services, and you have just about everything you could ever want from a network connection for playing music. One thing I really love is the web page interface for accessing network fields on the TX-NR708. This makes it easy to change network settings via a computer keyboard, rather than the remote, which can make setup much quicker and simpler.

Heat and Power Consumption

The receiver runs cooler than any other receiver I have ever owned. Nevertheless, I placed a small 12V computer fan atop for additional cooling. With that extra small fan my TX-NR708 runs as cool as a cucumber. One thing I did notice, though, is that the receiver stays warm, even when turned off, or when in the standby mode, indicating that it is consuming power (probably because the network is still active in the standby mode). So in order to conserve energy, I have it plugged in to a surge protector strip along with my TV, and turn them both off at night.

Summary

I believe you would be hard-pressed to find a better receiver at this price anywhere. It is packed with features that even many higher priced receivers do not have. Whether you like listening to music or watching movies, the TX-NR708 has most everything the home theater owner will ever need--and then some. I highly recommend it and give it a solid 4.5 stars.

I won't go into details; I actually have not gone into much of what this receiver can do.

I set this up in one evening with 5 HDMI sources and 1 Component source as well as set up the internet radio, AM/FM radio, DLNA connection to media on a home server, and the automatic tuning. All of this goes to a single HDMI (upconverted) out to a 46" TV. My set up is a 5.1 system at the moment.

I almost had no problems installing the above and have connections to spare. I have not messed with any settings yet (so all is at the 'default' setting) and the sound is amazing. I previously had a Sony entry level receiver (fried by lightning) and had spent hours trying to set that up to get a decent sound; never understood why it was so hard to just turn it on, play a movie, and listen.

The On Screen Display is a God-send, although this also has my one complaint so far, it is weird that it only seems to come on intermittently can't figure this out, I think it only is available with certain inputs or something? One other small complaint is that the Harmony Remote I have does not have some of the keys mapped correctly and so I am having to program this manually (but this isn't Onkyo's fault).

Anyway, I highly recommend, if this is in your price range (I paid $550), you'll have a ton of connections, lots of features (ie ethernet connectivity and OSD), and the sound is great without much fussing.

The NR-708 was a fairly robust receiver for this price range, and I was very satisfied with its performance, features and functionality overall...until it became unuseable after 4 months. At first it began switching inputs at random. But I was able to simply revert back to my original input choice. Then within a week it all the sudden became completely unresponsive to the remote or to any inputs on the front panel. In fact, it would not even shut off, and the problem could not be resolved by a reset or reboot. The reciever is now completely useless, and unfortunately I am finding several others online reporting the same problem.

February 1, 2010 update: My HR-21 problem appears to have been corrected by a DirecTV software update. Today both DirecTV channel 103 and 106 work through the Onyko TX-NR708 HDMI connection.

I bought this TX-NR708 to replace an excellent performing TX-SR804 to gain the new 3D capability with DirecTV's added 3D offerings. However, it will not pass the DirecTV's 3D HDMI output to my new Panasonic TC-PX65VT25 Plamsa. If I connect the DirecTV receiver directly to the Plasma input it works as advertized. However when I go through the TX-NR708 it produces two side by side frames much like the old stereoptican viewers my Grandmother use to have.

I called Onyko Tech Support to see what I was doing wrong. Unfortunately, the Tech said there is a known problem working with DirecTV 3D receivers. No estimate when a solution will come out. If you are a DirecTV subscriber stay away from this until DirecTv or Onyko finds a fix.

I am happy with my purchase of the coby digital clock/radio with ipod/iphone docking system. The time automatically sets on the clock when an ipod or iphone is placed on the dock. Setting the alarm was not completely intuitive, but simple enough. Both my 2nd gen ipod touch and iphone 4s are compatible with this docking system. I am a heavy sleeper and need to have more than one alarm set. With this, I can set an alarm on my phone and on my clock.

I would not recommend this as a speaker system for your ipod/iphone as I do not feel that is the purpose of this clock. However, I do highly recommend this clock if you are looking for a way to set multiple reliable alarms and charge your ipod/iphone as a bonus.

It did work with my iTouch but now doesn't (I have a 2nd generation iTouch). It still charges it but doesn't sync or play music through the speakers. But when it did it was great.

I'm also having a little trouble setting the alarm. It seems like it shorts out and resets to 12:00 while I'm trying to set it. So I just use my iTouch alarm instead.

Love the red numbers though.

Looks good. Not a very durable product. However, it does exactly what it says it will do and so far I am having lots of fun with it. I want to rate it lower, however to be fair, I got exactly what I paid for.

Elgin Travel Alarm Clock

The analog style allows challenged eyes to easily read the time without putting on glasses. The snooze/light was a pleasant surprise, as it lights up the clock face for a few seconds for easy viewing in the dark. It is simple to set the time and the alarm. One AA battery lasts a long, long time. This clock is lightweight, durable and travel friendly. I even like using it at home. The one little quirk about the clock is that the snooze alarms are not unlimited. So I have trained myself to get up not later than the 4th snooze. Which I should anyway. :-)

UPDATE 11/15/11: Call me crazy, but I ordered another one of these after my 2yo son stole the alarm-changing knob and presumably threw it down the radiator vent in the house. Once again I looked for an alarm clock that stood up to my three requirements: 1. analog; 2. light on demand; 3. standard size (AA or AAA) battery, and this seems still to be the only one out there. How tough can it be?!

I had two of these travel alarms when Timex made an identical model and loved them. This seems to work identically to the Timex. The black letters on white face is easy to read, and the blue blacklight is great for night viewing. I like that it uses a AA battery that's easily obtainable no matter where you are in the world. As for my old ones, I left one in a hotel room, and the second stopped working after five years. I was glad to see it was still available, albeit under a different brand. One thing though: I ordered one from a merchant here, and when I took it out of the box and tried the backlight, it emitted a high-pitched noise that would be unbearable in the middle of the night. Since it was inexpensive, and I needed it in a hurry, I didn't bother to send it back and I just ordered another. The second one worked fine. It suggests to me that these aren't made with much quality control, and I'd suggest ensuring that whatever merchant you purchase it from has a good exchange policy.

This review is for the Timex that I have had for over eight years, which is very close in style and function as the Elgin, which I just bought to replace the old Timex alarm clock. The best thing about it is the ascending alarm, which gets louder and pulses longer as the alarm continues, thus really waking you up, even if you wear ear plugs while travelling, like I do at times. That was very important.

I dropped it once and the back dial for setting alarm broke off so I had to buy another one. Just don't drop it.

It is analog, not digital, so setting exact minute for alarm can be tricky. But the night light is really nice and its size is compact enough and only takes one AA battery.

This clock is built poorly. The quality is what you'd expect to get from a clock that's less the $10. The clock hands were loose when I received it. They spun around the face of the clock freely like a top. The seller offered to replace the clock but if I had to ship it back, the shipping cost alone would be more than the clock itself was worth. I bought this phone because it was small, cute and had all the features I needed!! But I am so disappointed with this phone. It keeps blacking out for reasons unknown to me. I have only been using this phone for a few days now and I hate it. The touch screen only responds to your finger tip and it keeps freezing. As a result I am missing my phone calls. DON'T BUY THIS PHONE!! YOU ARE ONLY WASTING YOUR MONEY!!!

I had to write a review because I just don't think the phone merits one star...Maybe two and possibly a three :-)

UPDATE 6/20/2012 No updated apps or OS from SE since I've purchased it. Still not holding my breath. Also I just got an Xperia Mini Pro SK17a White (the updated version of the X10 Mini Pro). Yeah I like to play with SE phones.

TLDR The Sony Ericsson txt pro is a decent smartphone for people who want a basic, compact, stylish smart phone with a slideout full QWERTY keyboard, built-in Wi-FI, *AND* who will be satisfied with the pre-installed features and apps as-is. It is a GSM/EDGE 2G phone that works with AT&T or T-Mobile (but for how long?) including their pay-per-minute plans. This phone is not for people who want to install Android apps or who need a phone with a larger display or QWERTY keyboard.

IMPORTANT: People who want to use this phone with a data plan must carefully research whether this phone or any unlocked smartphone will work with their network. This phone is 2G EDGE only not 3G though I'm no expert on this. I don't use a data plan and I'm happy with the built-in Wi-Fi. Also, if you do buy an unlocked smartphone, be prepared to research how to configure it to use your provider's network (internet, text, multimedia server settings etc.) This doesn't always just happen auto-magically after you turn on the phone. Also, I've read rumors that AT&T is trying to phase out phones that use ?2G EDGE? in the NY Metro area something or other. So far my phone still works fine on AT&T's network and they haven't cut me off.

The Sony Ericsson txt pro is my first smartphone. I purchased it from EVERYDAYCELL fullfilled by Amazon.com. Shortly after purchasing it, I purchased the very similar Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro from an auction website so I can compare both. Note that the "Pro" designation means the phone has a slide out QWERTY keyboard which both phones do have.

The Sony Ericsson(SE) txt pro is a 2G GSM phone that works on the AT&T or T-Mobile networks. It's designed for people who frequently text message and want a (very) compact smart phone with a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard. People who want an affordable stylish beginner's smart phone and want to avoid a paying for a data plan will also like the phone's built in Wi-Fi.

The phone looks and feels like an Android smart phone but *IT'S NOT* an Android phone. It has SE's own smartphone interface and version of apps such as Google Talk. This is a decent phone *IF* you will be satisfied with the phone's built-in features and apps. However, be aware that Sony Ericsson has a reputation for being slow to provide software updates to their phones (if ever). So, don't count on them providing updates to their apps and obviously you can't install any Android apps.

Another reviewer remarked that this phone is too small or made for children. I bought the phone BECAUSE it's small AND it has the slideout keyboard. Length and width it's the size of a business card! and about thick as a finger. I have big hands and the txt pro keyboard is indeed small but I like the phone and find the keyboard quite usable (if you always keep your nails trimmed :-)). I dislike touch screen keyboards and prefer the buttons and tactile feedback of the txt pro. If you need a larger display or keyboard then shop around.

PROS:

Touch screen interface similar to Android with a home screen that has your favorite apps in the four corners, finger swipes to move screens, etc.

Popular pre-installed web apps Web browser, Gmail, Google Talk, YouTube, Facebook, etc. as well as the common productivity apps (MP3 player, calendar, calculator, etc).

Slide-out full QWERTY keyboard

Built-in Wi-Fi

Stylish and comes in white, red, or black.

CONS:

It's not an Android phone. So no apps from Android Marketplace and no updates from Sony Ericsson as of 6/20/2012

Touch screen interface occasionally lags a second or two but not too badly

Slide-out keyboard and phone is too small for some people

COMPARISON TO SONY ERICSSON X10 MINI PRO (ANDROID 1.6/2.1)

The X10 Mini Pro is very similar to the "txt pro" except the X10 is an actual Android phone (1.6 which you can upgrade to 2.1 using SE software which I did). I have two cell plans and so I use both phones. I can say I much prefer the X10 Mini Pro only because I like to install apps from Android Marketplace. Also the Android version of apps such as Google Talk work better than the SE version. Of course the X10 costs a little more than the "txt pro" and now SE has launched the new versions of the X10 phones (simply named just "Xperia Mini Pro") costing even more. Beyond that, the "txt pro" is a fine phone for people who want a compact stylish smart phone with Wi-Fi, slideout full QWERTY, and happy with its features out of the box as-is.

People, please read my review before you purchase the piece of junk.

First of all, in my opinion, the phone is NOT designed for adult uses. Instead, it is designed for kids, especially for girls at age under 12. BTW, I bought the phone for my 10 yr. daughter.

Now, let's get into the worst part. I bought the phone from newegg, not from Amazon. My daughter used the phone for about a week, and told me the touch screen didn't work in half of the time. You can ONLY use the touch screen to make a call, answer a call, or terminate a call. If the touch screen doesn't work, the phone is useless. You have to turn off power to terminate a call. I did try to calibrated the phone

I contacted Newegg customer service, and was told the phone was defected and could be returned for refund, but I needed to contact Sony Ericsson to create a case #, and then they could work on the refund. I called Sony Ericsson at 866-766-9374 on 09/30/2011 Friday afternoon around 4:00PM CST. A woman answered the phone. First she took all my personal info; phone #, cell #, address, and e-mail address, and then asked me the phone info and what was wrong. I told her what was wrong, and the seller asked me to contact Sony Ericsson to create a case # for refund. After I said that, the woman immediately said, sorry can't do that, the system is down. Then I said, Ok, since you got all my info, phone # and e-mail, when the system is up, can you call me back? The woman became mad, and very rudely said "sir, I am telling you again, the system is done, I don't know when it will be back, it could be 5 or 10 minutes, or maybe next week (What hack is that, next week???.)". Give me a break! I have never had experiences like Sony Ericsson Customer services. The people who work there are trained to lie, not to solve problems. Their people just like their product!!!

SONY ERICSSON WILL RIP YOU OFF. DO NOT BUY IT!!!!!

Phone is pretty good. Call quality is good, screen is vibrant. My daughter likes the phone. The reason for 3 stars is it is extremely slow on the internet and she has problems sending and receiving pictures messages.

I bought this radio because the one in my car completely died. I knew I didn't want to spend lot of money because my car is really old. I wanted something simple that would play CD's and radio. Timex Nature Sounds Clock Radio w/MP3 Line In T307

I am very disappointed. I chose this item as I do all items from Amazon very carefully after comparing all similar products as to price, description, and especially user feedback like this. I spent about 40 minutes going through all the sound machines on Amazon. (I'm so careful because when I first started to shop online, I made a lot of stupid impulse buys.) I filtered them eventually down to ones with only 4-5 feedback stars. This machine had 5.

But I guess I was tired by the time I got to this product, because I didn't examine the feedback carefully enough there was only ONE review. That's why I feel compelled to write this review.

And my review is this: the item sucks compared to available technology nowadays. Think about it, any one of us can simply download HIGH QUALITY MP3 sounds of whatever we desire, whatever we can contemplate and enter into google. Giraffe sounds, eel sounds, sound of falling apple, anything!

But I don't have the time to compose my own nature sounds; plus, I figured that a machine preprogrammed with such sounds would be better than what I could do, because in making the product there was probably a team of people, including "sound experts," who spent large amounts of time thinking of a nature sound product from every angle, doing research, etc. But no. This product must have been an afterthought, a quick attempt by Timex to break into this sub/specialty-market.

The sounds are of very low quality. Many sound the same to me. And at high volumes, they all sound like the same annoying staticy sound from a cheap speaker. I also bought the optional (not included) expansion sound cards. What a waste of money! The sounds of the sound cards sound exactly the same as the ones that come preprogrammed with this machine. "Ocean surf" sounds like "Tropical Rain" and "Waterfall" to me. And the difference between "Tropical Rain" and just "Rain" is laughable. Oh, and "Surf with Birds" is simply "Stream" with a single repeated bird chirp in the background.

This machine is pathetic. I think this is one of those products that you must pay the extra dollar for to get high-quality. This isn't rock music, it is (supposed to be) soothing, gentle, natural sounds. For nature sounds to sound "natural," they must be played on a high quality speaker from well-recorded, high-quality sound clips (which were recorded using the highest quality microphones by nature professionals).

The "White Noise," which is the basis of all the other sounds, is the only way I can comfortably utilize this product. Don't buy it.

This product is AMAZING. Is it a clock? a Radio? an MP3 speaker system? a Nature Sound Machine? a Dual Alarm? a Calendar? YES, It's everything! It really is impressive. I love combo products & this one leaves nothing out. Lots of functions, but easy to work if you simply read the directions!

I would give it more stars but it seems to randomly come on. The clock feautre will become the downfall of this device. It keeps time by itself according to your timezone, but maintaining the *correct* time it's biggest problem. I haven't had mine for a full year yet and I've watched it gradually get 1,2,3 minutes fast. Right now I'm running at about 6 1/2 minutes faster than the actual time and there's nothing you can do about it. In the mornings this can be a hassel when you need to make a decision at a glance and forget to do the math. The display is just a touch too bright at night. I have mine facing away from the bed for this reason but don't feel it's that big a deal. Everything else about it is fine for me but I'm buying a new one over the time issue.

Following instructions for preset date and time, the radio/clock kept flashing rather than presetting to the proper time; read alternative instructions on setting time still would not set and hold. I sent it back thru Amazon totally disatisfied!
