Pros:

Has great big LED display that is easy to read from across the room. To make it better, it has a LED projection so the time is projected on the ceiling and can be seen while laying down on my bed. Fm/Am radio function is great for listening to music before bed when combined with the sleep function. Aux input is great option for people that prefer there own music over the radio. Is much better then any clock i would be able to pick up from my local store for the same price.

Cons:

The antenna doesn't seem to get great signal however, but that could just be due to its location in my house. On the unit that i was given the Fm/Am tuner digital display is off by .1 so if you want to listen to 93.3 Fm, you would set the radio to 93.4 Fm. Also while listening to Am/Fm radio the current station is displayed instead of the time, if you want to see the time you push down the time button and it is only displayed while the button is being held down. This gets very annoying very fast. When a Aux device is plugged into the input the time is displayed constantly however. When a device is plugged into the input you cannot use the Fm/Am function, it can get annoying having to reach over and unplug or plug in the Aux device when you want to switch between Am/Fm and Aux. I would rate the sound quality of the speakers a 3/5, you can listen to your music and understand everything but the quality overall is not the best in the world. The Led projection, while physically connected, is a separate clock and must be set separately set from the unit. The time on the unit cannot be set while a Aux device is plugged in. Both the unit and the Projection are only 12 hour format, so those wanting military (24 hour) format are out of luck.

This is a great clock to purchase. I love the ceiling projection option. It has a large main display for easy viewing from multiple angles. The projection option is easy to use and read. The blue LED light is a great color and the main reason I purchased this clock. The only con I have is the brightness of the main display. It is a little too bright. If I could add a option to make this the perfect clock and a great price would be a variable brightness setting for night display. Other than that is is the perfect alarm clock.

This is actually two clock products in one -they share only a power supply -and you have to program each with its own time setting. The result has been that the dial clock and the projection clock are out of phase by a minute most of the time. So there is that continuous annoyance...

The projection clock is not very flexible with regards to the direction of projection -it will only swing through an arc perpendicular to the long top of the main clock. This means a serious limitation on placement of the main clock.

The cheap plastic focus wheel on the projection clock [at least in the unit received] is inadequate -when the left side [hour] is clear, the right side [minutes] are quite blurry or vice versa. The compromise is having the whole image blurry and unreadable without glasses by one of us.

Customer support, by e-mail, was unresponsive to the focus issue.

This was a waste of money for me.

I replaced it with the Magnasonic MAG-MM176K AM/FM Projection Clock Radio -a much more useful and easy to use product!

My second attempt at finding a projection alarm clock has failed. This one worked exactly one night then the projection unit quit working beyond one foot. First night I was satisfied. I could see the time easily. Second night when I went to bed I noticed there was no time on the ceiling. I fiddled with this clock for three days trying to get it to work again. Never did. I returned it.

I bought this alarm for its ceiling display. The numbers on the ceiling are large and easily readable but not overly bright.

The clock display is also over large and easily readable.

My only complaint is that the clock display is very bright and there is no way of dimming the display. I put a book in front of it as I like my bedroom to be very dark.

Trying to find a reliable, easy to use, inexpensive, alarm clock for the wife. She wanted one that sets itself and had a battery back-up. I wanted one that would wake her up. Found this one at K-mart and spent 30 mins playing with it over by the televisions (needed a power source). This radio alarm clock is perfect for what I need. This being my first review, I"ll just point out the things that made me buy it.

1. Nice soft blue color, 2 setting...low you can just make out and high is clearly visible

2. Battery back up (even came with batteries) easy to find AA"s

3. Plug in in and it sets itself (all you have to do is set the time zone) has a switch for Daylight Savings Time.

4. Dual alarm (his and her) or in this case days and midnights...set it and forget it. You don't have to remember to set it everyday.

5. If the power goes out the alarm goes into kind of a sleep mode. It beeps to warn you of the power failure and according to the instructions, remembers the alarm settings and goes off without it being plugged in (not tested yet)

6. The alarm starts off kinda like any other alarm but then gets progressively louder (can't see anyone sleeping through this one)

7. Playing with the tuner, looks like one of those old fashion, spin the dial things, but it shows a digital read on the display (kinda cool but it's a cheap radio folks and sounds like one)

8. The snooze is adjustable from 1 to 30 mins.

9. Last but not least, the alarm set time is displayed on the lower right, so if your the nervous type, you can double check to make sure the alarm is where you want it to be. All for around 20 bucks...and that"s all I have to say about that.....

I had googled "alarm clocks best" or something similar and the earlier model of this one came up.

Since I had already gotten one at my Big Box store that I wasn't happy with, I decided to give it a try.

Pros: HUGE easily readily numbers for the time.

It goes off each morning at the set time without you having to remember to reset it

It has a second alarm you can set if, for example, you want to take a nap during the day

Cons: Setting it is not totally intuitive, and I had to sit there with the (not easy to follow) instructions in hand while setting it up the first time. And setting the second alarm seems even more complicated, to the degree that last time I needed that feature, I just used the alarm on my cell phone.

And when oh when will some body come up with a way to set the time without having to scroll through every number?!

The clock looks pretty good. The display is far too bright for a dark room, even with the automatic dimmer set. One of the blue lines that makes up the time display broke after about a month. After a year the flimsy plastic switch to turn on/off the alarms just snapped somewhere and no longer works.

OK design except for the brightness but the build quality is pathetic. Don't waste your money.

I needed a new alarm clock because my old one had a nice feature where the time would automatically adjust to Daylight Savings time. The only trouble is that I purchased it long before the Powers That Be made the decision to change the dates for Daylight Savings time (I had it for more than 8 years!). So, twice a year, I was going somewhere at the wrong time. I couldn't update the software on it to the new DST schedule, so I finally decided to get a new one.

I really wanted to love this alarm clock from RCA. I thought the blue display would be a nice change but mostly the idea of having the alarm time displayed was just what I needed. You have to flip the switch to DST instead of it being automatic like my old Emerson, but I decided it was a good trade off. I also like the adjustable time for the snooze so that you can set it to exactly what you want it to be.

Other reviewers have said that the blue display is very bright, and I do agree. But this didn't bother me much since I mostly have my eyes closed anyway and don't have to deal with it in the dark. The snooze button across the top of the unit is very large....which is great for a sleepy hand to hit it, but it makes it difficult to hold the unit in order to adjust the time for the alarms and such. But this is also something that you can get used to and work around.

The main reason that I am rating this item low is that the alarm button broke right at the 30-day mark. Now my "alarm 1" is stuck on the wake to music setting. I can't change it to the buzzer, but more importantly, I can't shut it off!! So, I have an alarm set every single day. The best I could do was change the time of the alarm. This was really annoying for the rare weekend when I had the opportunity to sleep in.

I'm past my 30-day warranty from the place I purchased it from, so I can't return it there....so now I am struggling with the manufacturer for a refund. Needless to say, I am going back to my Emerson brand. I definitely do not recommend this product.

I didn't buy this clock for it's "Auto Clock Set" feature, but I was quite pleased to see it when I unpacked the clock. However, don't be confused, "auto clock set" is completely misleading.

The clock does some silly circling lights when you first plug it in, as if searching for a frequency, but it's not doing ANYTHING. The time is pre-set at the factory, that's it. That's why the thing ships with batteries installed. This doesn't sound like a big deal unless you want exact time and, like me, accidentally adjust the clock "manually."

I may not have cared about the auto time function at first, but when I made a mistake and messed up the time, I didn't want to go through the trouble of re-setting the clock, so I unplugged the clock and removed the batteries. I assumed the clock would search out the atomic-clock frequency and set itself again....it didn't and it won't for you. All you get is blinking 12:00 (like any clock).

After much searching through manuals and online and trying every trick I could think of, it dawned on me that the whole "auto clock set" thing was a gimmick. So, if you lose power for too long, if your batteries go dead, if you take the batteries for some other device, or if you just decide to unplug this clock and take out the batteries, you'll have to reset this clock just like any other clock radio purchased in the past 30 years. There is a name for the feature this clock comes with, "battery back-up" with "factory set time." The time zone button is just a simple one hour time cycle adjustment.

Aside from the misleading claims, it seems like a reasonable clock. It's display is bright as others have commented, but you can dim it. The two alarms is a nice feature, as is showing the alarm in the lower right corner. I haven't had this clock long enough to speak to build quality, which, judging by other reviews, seems suspect.

UPDATE:

1st or 2nd alarm button--can't recall which--broke off. Took about two months for this to happen.

I think these speakers sound very good. I am a therapist who travels to my clients and use relaxing music with the therapy. The clock light is bright enough that you can see even in a pitch black room. My only complaints are 1) I had to pay an extra $6 and wait extra days to have iHome ship me the correct little piece of plastic adapter so my Nano would fit. You think they would at least include the right part that would fit the iPod as shown. 2) It would be nice if there were a soft case provided that would fit the speakers, AC adapter and iPod. I have to make one. Other than that the speakers are acceptable and I would recommend them if you don't need heavy bass.

I was looking for something for my bedstand that I cd use to go to sleep to my ipod. who knew someone thought of that! Wd prefer the ability to remove the travel cover for a little less bulk and I'm not sure i'd rate it highly for sound if I were listening to music, but for listening to my podcasts and book downloads, it's great. Esp like the features for sleeping and waking to the ipod sound gradually diminishes as it nears the turn off point. Wd recommend.

I got this Pyle to replace an old Pioneer that stopped working in my car. The Pyle fit perfectly, and was fully compatible with all the old connectors, which was great when it came to installation. What's even better, though, is that this stereo has many new features that my old one didn't have, like MP3 capability and a digital display. I actually don't see any reason why anyone would buy a Pioneer replacement, because they're much more expensive this Pyle has everything I want and need.

I had a JVC boombox once, and it was the best sounding radio/cassette boombox I ever had. Therefore, I wanted another JVC product. I was disappointed that it wasn't as great-sounding as I had anticipated. However, it plays nicely. In retrospect, I would have bought the other JVC compact stereo with 100 watts of power. I didn't see the other one until I had already ordered this one. If you're reading this, I would recommend going with the 100-watt JVC instead of this one, which is only 70 watts. They're about the same price. I also just bought a Sony boombox, and it sounds much better than this JVC stereo.

I bought this unit as a Chanukah gift for my 8 year old grandson. He loves it and it is easy to use, his finding and using the many features it offers. I put one of my classical cd's into the unit and I was amazed at the sound quality this inexpensive unit provided. I am a connosseur of music owning top of the line stereo equipment in my home and I can assuredly say that this unit gives you much bang for the buck.

First of all, this is a small stereo. It has 70 watts (RMS) of power. That is not enough for a party with 20+ people over at your detached house, a dance floor, and a smoke machine. If you're thinking about buying this for a teenage boy who cranks his music in his room to annoy his parents, well, it depends on how well you like his parents. If you need to get something for a college kid that likes to host gatherings in his dorm room and impress women with his music collection, I'd say it depends on the kind of music and the kind of women he likes.

If you want a stereo for a bedroom or a studio apartment, if you're interested in the best sound you can find in a sound system marked "micro hi-fi" at this price range, this is wonderful. It is loud enough to make cranky neighbors complain but probably not enough to make them call the police (neither have done so at my place). If you run this at full volume, there's less noise than anything over 50 watts that I've ever tested, and I tested a number of systems before I bought this one.

What this unit sacrifices power for is sound quality. JVC does not have a disreputable history of making throwaway junk in audio and video equipment, although I'm sure there are people who would disagree with this. For anyone looking to link this to a computer, the audio-in has three levels of power, which is extremely important if you need to boost quiet recordings. The Turbo Sound and HBS features are very useful, but nothing extraordinary. The bass/treble controls are Mickey-Mouse (you only have three bass and three treble settings). Generally speaking, however, I feel that this thing is really made to be simple in terms of sound control and the people who made it were certain that a jazz, classical, or folk enthusiast who pushed it up to top volume on a quality music recording would buy it immediately.

I didn't find the remote to be very complicated, but it is more complicated that the remotes on similar systems, and it is small and runs on a watch battery. If you want to operate it in low-light conditions, you'd probably prefer a full-size remote.

The unit itself is pretty, with nightlight-bright blue LED accents that you can dim or turn off (3 levels of dimming, again). You can also clean the panels and speakers easily because it doesn't have major recessed areas as design accents. I don't have an iPod so I can't make claims regarding that functionality.

I am extremely happy with this product.

Would have expected to pay around $200 for this quality.

Only downside is that you never want to break or loose the remote because many of the buttons on the remote (programing, time set, etc.) are not on the main unit!

Quality you'd expect from JVC. I would recommend this system to a friend.

I'm what one might call an audiophile. I used to own a set of the renowned crystaline ESS speakers, $400.00 a piece list price. The Audio Technica phono cartridge on our direct-drive turntable alone was $250.00 retail. Our first receiver driving the wall-rattling pair was a 60-watts per channel JvC with 5-band graphic equalizer, also $600.00 list. It finally burnt out after 16 years, and the speakers and new Pioneer entertainment receiver got stolen during a move, but we always remember the quality sound and features, hence the decision to go with a JVC mini stereo. Though the UX-LP5 can't be expected to compare to its predecessor, it's about all our 12by 14-feet studio apartment can handle. 70 watts maximum, relatively powerful for systems this size, is certainly loud enough. I don't notice any distortion at high volume. The small black laminate on particle board bass reflex speakers are a testimony to recent advances in electronic technology, being no longer the tinny, staticy things you would expect, but decent, filling the room well acoustically with their upthrusted design. Maybe the lower frequencies are a tad muffy and fall more in the class of bass "impression" rather than bass boom, but you can't get any better for the incredibly low price of this system. The Turbo Sound and Hyper Bass--akin to "loudness" on older sets--enhance them well enough. If you want better, you could probably upgrade to a pair of quality bookshelf speakers for an extra hundred. 35 watts per channel should be enough to obtain the full volume and frequency range in most makes of roughly equal size, but be sure to check the manual for the minimum power requirements. Optimum wattage should fall at least halfway between the minimum and maximum specifications, but don't quote me on that. As for the UX-LP5's other features, pretty good. Unlike some of the other new models on the market, it still has AM radio, a must in emergency broadcast situations. There are both AM and FM wired antennas you can place in different locations for the best reception. The CD/MP3 player sounds fine. We don't have an I-Pod to test the handy drop-down dock. The mini Headphone and Audio In (aka AUX) jacks are conveniently located on the front panel. Our small HDTV has only perfunctory internal speakers, and we were pleased to harness the micro stereo ones for some semblance of a cinema effect via a 2-way male mini headphone jack connected from the TV's headphone jack to Audio In. There is also a Video Out receptor in back of the unit to view I-Pod music videos on an external monitor. We hate the tiny, primitive, hard-to-operate remote. Headphone sound quality and separation are disappointing, and the blue "Demo" light display only dims temporarily, but you can't have it all!!!

I purchased this product two weeks ago and I received it today. The package was very light. When I opened it, the product was so small. Not what I was expecting. It looks very cheap and not worth the money at all. I have decided to keep it because my 3 year old daughter likes the stars, otherwise I would return it. There are better products similar to this one but this is the only one I could find that shipped to Canada, thats why I went ahead and purchased it even after reading the one reveiw about saving the trouble not purchasing the product. Overall, the product is nice but definitely not worth the money and shipping costs.

this clock is hard to set, difficult to see and i dont like it ..it promised to project stars, ,well it did some what..the mechanism that shows the front display is broken and i cant see the numbers without setting i under a bright lite..hard to set the times ..just not a good product..hate it..wish i had my money back..

First let me tell you I am a really tech savvy person and work in IT every day. The controls on this clock are so un-intuitive that you will need the instructions for every change you make. That being said this is a good stable clock for what it is. It is a kid's clock. Do not buy this as your primary alarm clock. It is battery powered and ungodly hard to use but my 6 year old loves it.

I am using this as a speaker bar for my home theater system that is on my covered deck. I wanted something I could use for my I-Pod as well as amplify sound for my projection TV. I also wanted something I could easily mount on a wall in a small space that I had available.

This works with both my 2nd and 3rd generation I-Pod Touch. It has red/white RCA plugs where I have audio input from my Direct TV box.

Even at higher volumes the sound is great with no significant distortions. The sound is full with without a tinny quality. Bass is not very full but I would not expect it to be.

When buying this unit I was looking for multi-functionality. This unit will mainly be used for playing tunes during parties and for sporting event sound. If I was doing more movies and needed more theater sound for I would have gone with a Vizo sound bar that I have seen/heard at one of the warehouse stores.

I have been using this for almost 5 months now

I'm still pleased with overall function and sound quality.

I have not attempted to 'max out' the volume but for my deck (which is 16x25 feet) this provides more than enough volume.

Again I want to stress that if you are looking for high quality sound for a home theater where movies are being played consider a different sound bar. This unit provides great sound for general music and sports -it does not provide good base.

However for such a small speaker it does provide good general sound and good amplification with out hissing or a tinny quality.

For my purposes this is an excellent product at a very good price.

This dock will NOT play whatever audio is sent to it from the iPhone. It only supports the Apple "iPod" app. You cannot use this dock with Pandora or any other music app. I called the company's technical support line and they confirmed that the device is designed to ONLY work with Apple's music app. I've never run into this limitation with any other device. It's a deal breaker for me and I'll be returning it to the store.

I have a 32" LCD in my kitchen. When I would watch that TV through the speakers I would have to turn the volume up very high just to understand the dialog but it was just too loud at that point. The audio was just not very clear through the TV speakers so I wanted something simple and cheap because it was for a kitchen TV, not for the big screen entertainment. I just wanted clearer audio. This soundbar fit the bill perfect. It fell right in the price range I was looking in and it delivers clear audio so that I don't have to crank up the volume to understand the dialog.

Oh yeah, I can charge my iPhone on it! You can also play audio from your iPhone/iPod through the unit but I haven't messed with this feature. I have just used it to charge my phone. This feature had no bearing on my purchase decision but its a cool added bonus. If you don't have an iPhone or iPod don't let the fact that it has this feature discourage you from buying the unit because you can keep the charger closed and never know it has an iPhone charger. I do have an iPhone and I would still purchase this unit without the charger so you shouldn't feel that this item isn't for you if you don't have one.

This is a great item if you just want clearer audio than your TV speakers deliver if you just watch news, sitcoms, documentaries, etc. I don't think I would recommend this item for watching a lot of blu-rays. You need to go full out surround for that. Although, I haven't put it to the test with movies and loud bumping music but I seriously doubt it could handle that very well.

One more point is that there is no digital audio input but if you listened to what I said above, then that shouldn't be a problem.

Not sure why people are saying that they can't use this with Pandora. It works just fine with my iPhone 4. I can access all my music on my iPod and I have no problems with Pandora. Sound quality is fine for the bedroom which is where I've set this up. The clock has three dimmer levels so you can tone it down at night and it doesn't take up a ton of retail space on the dresser. I'm pretty happy with this.

I bought this sound bar to fit underneath my Dell monitor at work, after my desktop speakers gave up the ghost after 10+ years of service. The bar rests directly below my 23" widescreen monitor, with just enough sticking out that I can press the buttons on the top.

By its appearance, it looks pretty slick. The built-in clock is a nice thing to have, and the fact that it auto-dims when the audio portion is turned off is also nice for home use. Within minutes, the glossy black surface showed finger smears, as if my kids had rubbed their grubby hands all over it.

Soundwise, I would describe it as passable. Low frequency sound is just not there, and I've been wanting to supplement it with an underdesk subwoofer, but it would need to have an audio loop-through, since the bar speaker does not have a line output.

The bar speaker has both RCA and 1/8" jacks for auxiliary inputs, such as a PC, though the nomenclature is odd. One is "LINE IN", though technically, they both are line inputs. So, one would hit the Source button until sound comes out. Note that switching from the internal iPod dock to one of the Line In inputs results in different sound volumes, which could be startling, if not unexpected.

The iPod dock seems to work fine with my iPod Touch 4G, even though a docking insert for that model was not included. The iPod seems to rest against the front face of the speaker bar, which stabilizes it from loosening its connection to the dock connector. It plays, it charges, but gee do I wish it had a USB pass-through, so I could operate the iPod from my PC's iTunes software!

I have had this product for approximately a month, and experienced no failures of any kind. I have not tried the handheld remote control, which has a few additional features.

In summary, it does what it is supposed to, and is a great fit for those who want to clean up their desktop, but acoustically leaves much to be desired.

I bought this phone as a temporary replacement for another phone while it was being repaired by straight talk. I really couldn't beat the price of $39 on the straight talk website or at walmart. It's not nearly as fun for me as my smart phone but you get what you pay for. I will say that the battery life on this is amazing, I haven't charged it in a few days and I use it constantly. As soon as my samsung is back I will switch back, but it does seem to have better cell service. It goes off the att network. I know because if you send a text to your email from one it says yournumber@txt.att.net. The internet on it sucks hard, but the regular texting and calling quality are pretty good for the price.

This phone has good battery life, good voice quality, and relatively good service in the area I live. It is indeed a very basic phone that can make phone calls and send/receive text messages. The camera is a complete joke as is the web browser. If you add an SD card, it can also function as a USB drive and MP3 player. The UI for the MP3 player is cumbersome, as playlists must be rebuild manually every time you add files. Changing ringtones and ringer volume is bit harder than it should be. Another disappointment is that when headphones are plugged in, it assumes you are using a wired headset and it will disable the phone's built in microphone. Bluetooth worked very well with my computer.

Feature phones are not going to be around for much longer, so get one while you still can if you want the absolute cheapest plan available.

I was with T Mobile 2 year contract for over 4 years. It was always irritating to be 'stuck' and on different dates after a few upgrades and service extensions. I will not be going back to a contract phone anytime in he future... And this is a GSM phone I can use overseas if I get the right SIM card.

The only thing I don't like is that the phone is locked to Straight Talk. I'm sure someone has a jailbreak code for it, I just have not looked too hard..

No Contract is the way to go for me.... Just remember, NO ONE cell phone service works for everyone... It all depends on your travelling habits, where you live, and what you need to do with your phone. Good Luck!

This is a wonderful surprise, I had been looking for a boombox that had a function to play radio and usb. To my surprise I found this one. Not only can it do radio, but it's a world radio, has a usb slot, and if you load music straight to the usb drive it'll play it directly, and quite clearly. The speakers are wonderfully powerful and crystal clear. But not only those, it also has an SD card slot for the same option. My only complaint is that it's much smaller than the picture portrays it to be. I expected it to be the size of a regular boombox, instead it's quite small, maybe only a foot wide by only a few inches tall, 4 or 5 inches max. Other than that, I'm quite pleased, and it was packed quite well. All in all five stars is what I give this product.

There are two speakers on this one, but there's no mention on here about it having stereo sound. I thought it would be mono, but it's not...not entirely anyway. The SD and USB slots play back in stereo (including though the headphone jack), but the FM isn't mpx compatible (it's mono).

The radio tuner about average (it has the same exact tuner as another radio I got from here:SUPERSONIC 11 BAND AM/FM/SW RADIO WITH USB & SD CARD SLOT (SC-1089). It's no DX receiver, but both FM and MW/AM are reasonably sensitive and selective (for the price). The MW/AM on this particular example tunes up to 1700 KHz (this being the second radio it's a safe bet they all do), so it does include the new "X band". The SW bands are about what you would expect for something in this price range: it's not going to win any contests, but it works reasonably well for what it is.

The FM dial is a bit out of calibration, but it's not difficult to navigate. Also the tuning dial is the old backwards European style for some reason..right to left.

The SD and USB slots work as they should and again in stereo (though it's a very basic player, and of course there is no readout) and it is SDHC (more than 2GB) compatible. My only complaint is that it does not scan through tracks. Holding down the "REW" or "FF" button raises and lowers the volume. This is a bit of a pain when playing back podcasts should you decide to stop playback. I use an easy to find and free program to split podcasts into 2 minute tracks, so the issue is not that big of a deal.

Overall the sound quality is alright (not shrill or harsh at all), and it puts of a reasonable amount of volume. You'll have no problem hearing it outside at all. It also sound quite good though a pair of headphones and puts out enough power to seriously rock even the most inefficient 'phones...a nice touch.

I felt a bit silly at first for picking up two radios that are so very much alike, but I'm glad I did. For the price it's hard to beat, and I love the idea of at long last having a real radio (not just FM) that will play back MP3 files as well, especially though speakers.

AM band is more sensitive then I thought it would be for a radio this size . FM band is very sensitive also . Now the shortwave band has FM images all over them , inside the house is a different story the shortwave plays o.k . Inside the house seems to sheild the radio from FM and I can receive shortwave ok . I would rate this radio 4 stars , because of the shortwave problem .
