This is a good deal for it's pricedigital tuning with preset buttonsAM/FM/NOAA. There is a problem using the AC power (with supplied AC power cord)when powered with AC the LED panel fades to almost unreadable! I decided to buy a second unit to see if another would have the same problme: yes! Thus, there is a defect when operating on AC power, so I don't recommend using AC power. However, operating on batteries is okno fading of the LED panel. Also, operating on DC adapter also tested and works ok (DC power adapter is not providedI got one at Radio Shack: AC-TO-DC POWER ADAPTER 1.5-15VDC, 300ma and set it for 4.5 DCV)

Everything else works okand this is the style of radio I wanted, and there are no others like this at this price. I now have three units. This has digital tuning with quick change preset buttons and a volume knob on the right side, which is very nice! The LED panel has black letters on a non-lighted background and is hard to readignore the bright LED panel you see in the pic-it does not look like that! However there is a light button that lights up for 6 seconds and helps you read it better. Reception is fine for local stations, which provide good clear speaker sound, with no noise.

It's fine if you are looking for a very inexpensive digital radio, (I found nothing cheaper in this style) but you may have the AC power problem I have, and you will have to get the Radio Shack DC power adapter (4.5v, 300ma), or just use 3 D-size batteries.

UPDATE 4/7/09: Robert Lambert discovered the solution to using the AC power cord. There is an AC switch inside the battery compartment that is set on 220v when I received all three of my radios. Simply set the switch on 110v (for USA) and presto! AC power cord works fine! No need to purchase DC adapter! This power switch is not described in the instructions and I even called Coby support about my problem and they didn't mention the switch! Thankyou Robert for the info! I can't change rating, if I could I now rate this radio 4.5 stars!

My husband has to have a radio with him wherever he is working (in the yard, in the tool room, and especially during a Louisville basketball game). He looked everywhere for one that would fit his needs. He wanted a digital readout on his radio so as to know when he was on a particular station. It also has an alarm and clock. The first time we ordered, the radio did not work well. It had a lot of static. We called to return it and instead ordered another to replace it. I am glad we did because the new one is terrific and works great. Amazon.com made it easy to return the one and replaced it the next day with one that works. Thank Amazon.com.

I was set to buy a more expensive radio, but I ran across this one which had what I was looking for and was inexpensive. Unfortunately, I haven't been happy with it. The reception isn't very good. My little manual portable which finally gave out after a number of years had no trouble, nor do two other radios I tried. The tuning seems "off", like the station I want at 790 only comes in at 760. It loses all presets with taking out the batteries which is inconvenient.

One day, I had it on the floor and it fell over and decided not to work. I am not talking about dropping from a height, it just fell over. On carpet. It beeped and freaked out and would not behave again til I took out the batteries for awhile. Very annoying. When I read in another review about the A/C switch in the battery compartment that they don't even mention in the instructions, well, that is just inexcusable.

Part of the reason to have a portable radio is for emergencies and really, I don't trust this to be able to locate a station or work properly in that circumstance. It's too bad, because it is a nice looking radio and a good size, but it's just too cheap to last long and be reliable. I'm going to get a Sony or Sangean like I originally planned.

I wanted a radio that is not-so-small radio for better sound, with AC power option for long-time listening, and most importantly, digitally tuning with a bunch of preset buttons for stations. This cx789 seemed fitting the bill well. I ordered mine from Target website when it was on clearance sale. After receiving it, I gave it a quick go-over Here is my impression; the radio basically works fine, all function works. Performance is so-so, the sound is not as great as I was expecting for a radio of this size. But remember, I only paid $20, shipping included. So I can't really complain. Overall, I would say the radio works, and worth much more than what I paid.

update: After few weeks of use, I like the radio better and better. The sensitivity of its FM is OK, picks up local NPR just fine; the AM sensitivity is higher, its internal loopstick antenna is directional, so sometime I need to rotate the radio a little to get better reception. I really like the station preset buttons, 10 for AM, and 10 for FM, which is plenty.

I haven't had any problems with this dock, but the quality of sound and volume are not very good. It is just an ordinary bedside clock radio with an ipod dock.

My husband bought one of these for our son and it worked for a while unfortunately during which he also bought one for me as I thought it was a neat unit. Within under 4 months the first unit doesn't even turn on you can press the power switch and nothing happens even with the remote you cannot turn it on. Mine is fairly useless as you cannot charge your iPhone on it which was a big part of its intended use upon purchase. The opportunity to return time is very short go figure! so were stuck with them. Buy something else!!! May be best to stick with an Apple product??

I use an Otterbox case for my iPhone 4 and this is the 2nd Memorex product I have bought that you have to completely take apart the case to dock the iPhone. The alarm works fine and the Sync button allows you to Sync the clock to your phone so you do not have to set the time. However, as big as the product is, you would expect higher quality sound from speakers that sound no better than an alarm clock. Even at the $20 I paid locally, I am taking this item back.

I have an ipod touch 4th gen and my sister got me this dock for my birthday. It worked great thr first couple of times and had really good sound quality. However, eventually my ipod would not connect. I even had apple send me a brand new ipod but still only would work a couple times. I know it's probably a defect in the ipod but, i got another dock which works just fine. Does anyone else have this problem?

I purchased this product today. I was a little worried about the brand name, but after using it, I was impressed. The sound quality is very good and it charges my Iphone 4. I also Liked the having my phone sitting in front of the unit so it cant get knocked off. It has 2 alarms and tested them both and work great. Buttons are easy to function and overall i am impressed with this product.

This clock is a unique combination of features it is a large digital display with a circular ring of LEDs that light up as the seconds of the minute pass by. The display is bright red and it can be adjusted to 3 different levels of brightness. The numbers are large and you can read them from quite a distance. We made a video in a bright Florida room and the display was easy to see even in bright sunlight.

This clock does not need to be reset when there is a power failure. It is a nice design and would fit into many different decors. It would be ideal for:

* A man cave

* An exercise room

* An office

* A conference room

* A child's room

* A sports or movie room in your home

* In a basement rec area

We have a large finished basement and this will be hung there near the pool table. It is a nice design and it has a unique appearance. It does require a AC power source and it does not run on batteries. That does not bother me but for some people that may be a no go. It comes with a power adapter that has a 10 foot reach from the tips of the plugs to the end of the power plug.

This is a good product and deserves a five star rating.

If you told me I could fall in love with a clock, I'd have said you were crazy! That's not entirely true, I have an avant-garde piece that looks like an eyeball that I'm awfully fond of. But when I got this 16" clock, I put it up within about two seconds. I was thoroughly thrilled. It seems impossibly huge and yet I love the bold statement that it makes! It is very minimalist in design. It's just shiny black with an inlaid LED digital display that can be read from the next room. And circling around are a series of dots which represent the second hands and they tick off in a lighted loop. I want to say that I thought the clock might appear tacky, but I think it's both unusual and slightly whimsical instead. It also has a couple of bonus features, you can adjust brightness and it doesn't lose time with a power failure.

I'd like to thank the manufacturer for a sample product to try in exchange for an honest opinion. One drawback is that the clock is electrical. You know what that means, there is a cord. On a wall clock, this poses an aesthetic issue with having a wire descend from the clock. This wasn't a huge issue for me as I have the cord relatively hidden, but it does merit a mention in case this is a deal breaker for you. KGHarris, 2/13.

(2008 HOLIDAY TEAM)This large, red LED clock is perfect for an office, dorm room, or exercise/recreational room. It has a large, dotted LED display with the hour and minutes in the center and the seconds counting down in an enlarging circle around the time display. The frame is a black matte box, roughly 2.5 inches thick. The frame face is about 10" square. There is a hole in the back to mount it on a wall using a single screw.

I'd like the clock better if it were battery-operated since I don't like the black power cable showing (I've hidden mine behind a filing cabinet), but I imagine that the active display would eat up battery life. Even if this clock is not beautiful (what LED clock is?), it seems sturdy, bright, and well-designed. Note: The manufacturer provided a sample for review.

This is a great, large, easy to read clock that is perfect for many locations a central spot in your house, workout room, dorm room, office or business.

The numerical display is large and clear and the colon in between the hour and minutes flashes with each second. There is also an AM/PM indicator.

But the best part is the circle of dots that fill in as the seconds tick by. When all full, it moves ahead to the next minute and clears the circle beginning the cycle all over again. And for whatever reason, this part of it is fun to watch and reminds me of the old darkroom countdown timers. It's great for doing any timed function without having to get out your wristwatch or cell phone timer.

Wall screws and anchors are included but it will also sit nicely on a shelf. A great, clear clock with great placement options.

Here's an item that elicits an enthusiastic WOW on first sight. The 15 inch clock is impressive in size, and the rotating digital second ring is captivating. Yes, it's powered by AC, and the cord could be longer, but an extension cord is all it takes to add some reach. I like that this clock can be read easily from across the room. It makes for a great presentation in our lobby at work, so I'm debating whether to keep it there or on my screen porch at home.

If you need a large clock with bright digital numbers that can be seen on the other side of a large room, this is an item to be considered seriously.

Update I unplugged the clock to move it to another room After I hung it and plugged it back in, the time came back exactly to the correct time. Nice!

I have heard about the Bose for years and finally spent a fair sum of money for one. It is good but far below the expectation that the advertising had prepared me for.

First, the positives. The clock looks good, it has good features, and it sounds good.

Now, there are two major flaws. One, the clock has an irritating, high-pitched humming noise. This shows it has poor quality. It should not make any noise. Two, the sound is too loud. At it's lowest volume, the sound is very loud. I like to sleep with the music on. With this clock, the volume is too loud at it's lowest setting to sleep.

So, since this product is priced as a premium product, it does not offer any value. There are two flaws that you should not have to deal with at this price point.

I feel bad for docking stars (mostly) based on price, but there is just no way I could give this a perfect rating when the retail tag says $199.99. No, there's nothing overtly wrong with the product, and it does sound extremely good for such a small device, but at that price there are numerous other options. Here's some of the major aspects worth talking about:

ABOUT THE SOUND

Yes, it sounds good. It has a concert-y, live effect that provides lovely acoustics and fills up any room despite its small size. The sound is crisp and emits no distortion, even playing at loud levels. *BUT* no, it isn't worth the price tag. Though the sound is big, it's also bassless and kickless. BOSE products are a splash more expensive, but if you want your music to have any kind of thump, that's the brand I would recommend. The JBL sound is airy and captivating, but not a perfect representation of the music like BOSE can create with the same size speakers. ABOUT THE PRICE

Yes, for $200 you could buy yourself decent 7.1 surround sound speakers, so why spend that much on this? Well, size is the big advantage here. It is INCREDIBLY nice to be able to get room-filling music without the mess of wires that comes with surround. No it doesn't sound quite as good, but it is convenient. I'll leave it up to you to decide if it's really worth it or not.

ABOUT THE FEATURES

Comes with an awesome remote that works at long distances, alarm clock, AM and FM radio that picks up stations crystal clear. You can edit the brightness and contrast of the backlight to fit your needs. Works on a plug-in or with 3 AAA batteries. I have no complaints about these features, they are all quite nice, but I will say that if you are strictly operating it on the AC outlet and the electricity should go out, or if you have to unplug it for whatever reason, all memory will be erased. All radio presents, the time, the day, everything gone! I would recommend keeping some batteries in there even if it's plugged in.

One other complaint: I can't swear that it isn't my cord's fault, but when I connect my non-iPod mp3 player to the system, I sometimes get some static-y sounds and have to adjust the plug a bit before it'll play clearly. I haven't noticed a problem with other audio devices, but my audio cord is kinda old so it *could* technically not be JBL's fault.

OVERALL: If size is important to you, and you're willing to spend big bucks on a small speaker system with big sound, I would go ahead and splurge for a BOSE. JBL does an okay job at recreating what BOSE does best, but it's still a ways off from perfection. At a significantly discounted price, I do think this is a good system though. The sound is very impressive not perfect, but extremely impressive. It amazes me that this little gadget can fill up my house like a live concert. I just wish it wasn't so light sounded and could bump with kicks and bass.

Summary While billed as a "micro", this device isn't that small it is more like a table top clock radio that fits well on a corner table. It sounds better than almost all clock radio's, but not by a mile. For its size, I'd have expected a built in small sized subwoofer so bass is lacking. JBL dropped the ball on this device when it comes to usability an exact opposite of something that Steve Jobs would design and something I'd expect "Coby" to market..

Using this for the last 3 months, I've noted a couple of cons -

1) There are 8 round buttons that look the same making it confusing to determine which one to press.

2)The small buttons are shiny chrome with backlight symbols that are supposed to tell you which one is which. Oh well the shine from the chrome overwhelms the backlight and you can't make out those symbols.

3) The buttons require a firm press and click loudly enough to wake up a light sleeper!

4) The clock display is dot matrix and shows the day of the week instead of the date. We are rarely confused about which day it is but frequently confused about the date. I could not find a way to make the clock display date and I suspect that this is because displaying date requires more sophisticated logic as opposed to just the day.

5) Evening, under CFL lighting, the display auto-dims, but dims so much, that it is almost invisible.

6) Cheesy, easy to lose remote (I've already lost mine). It'd have been useful to have a remote dock on board.

7) Overpriced I might consider this for a clock radio if it was priced in the two digits and the clock could display the date.

Neither a pro nor a con Angled display means that you need to have the device below your eye level. Keep it on a high shelf and you won't be able to read the time.

Pros -

1) Can sound pretty loud with more than room filling sound.

2) Dot matrix display on clock blue and white looks nice.

3) Good as an alarm clock and a place to dock your phone for the night and charge it.

4) Auto backlight control on clock makes it very visible in daylight.

5) Internally, the electronics are quite sophisticated (yes I have opened up mine to check).

I just received this JBL Alarm Clock today and set it up in my bedroom, where it is intended to be used. Setup was easy and self-explanatory. I did not use the owners manual at all.

The small foot print and extraordinary design was just what I was looking for. I have other JBL devises used as Ipod or Iphone docks and was surprised at all the bad unnecessary reviews.

This Alarm clock was designed for bedroom use, not to be used as a stereo replacement. The sound is exceptional, the dock works great, Alarm clock has many setting for your personal wakeup desires.

The only thing I have no use for is the remote control, which is poorly designed with too many options and hard to read in low light situations. I chose this clock for its design with all the buttons in front instead on top with other devises. This way, if you have to hit the snooze button, just turn and it's right in front of your face. If you need a remote control to do that, loose 150 lbs. and you can do the same. Overall I am glad I purchased this clock radio and would highly recommend it.

Bought for my daughter to replace hers that quit working. System is great but the remote seems to be a joke. Quit working within 2 weeks. It's not just the battery. System is great, remote is just garbage.

I bought this computer because it was a small and tablet and it had decent specs for a netbook. When it works it's great. It runs windows 7 wonderfully for web browsing and document editing. It is lacking in reliability.

I had to send it back to Dell 1 month after I purchased it because it wouldn't turn on. Dell replaced the motherboard. Around 5 months after the first repair I had to send it back in to have the palm rest(touch pad) repaired. Now, 2 months after the second repair and 8 months after purchase it won't turn on again and is going to be sent back.

I don't know about the rest of the world but I don't expect to have a computer fail 3 times in less than 9 months. I have had 2 other Dell laptops which have had no problem this model is poor quality and not up to dell's normal standards, or they have lowered their standards

The duo itself makes a fine small (10.1") computer and is quite capable even though it is a tad slow but it's not a powerhouse desktop either. When the Duo is added to the Dock it makes a fine pair. Sound from the stand alone Duo is minimal and barely a strength; however, when the Dock is added it makes a significant difference but, again, it is not a large set of stereo speakers either. I usually turn mine on in the morning and let it run most of the time just to hear the background, music or internet radio. I use an 8Gig flash drive to hold music and pictures; however, when I pair it with the desktop it will take several thousand Picasa pictures and show pictures all day. This is not a tablet but a netbook computer and well worth it. When it's time to go to the doctor and wait for what seems like forever I have my handy laptop and can use it for about 3 hours since my docs office has wireless.

I have been waiting to get this. I love the multiplicity of it, but the battery charge is barely usable! I had an HP mini with a battery usage ability of NINE (9) hours! I knew this wasn't going to be THAT good, but didn't expect to have to charge it repeatedly in ONE (1) day!! I'm a full-time college student as well s a homeschooling mom of 6, I do NOT like to be tied to a plug! If there were anything else wrong with this, I would send it back ASAP! However, I will learn to make do. Just wanted to share this tidbit for anyone else that needed that little piece of 411!

Love this netbook. The flip screen makes it even more fun. Not bulky in the tablet mode. Down fall is battery life.

I replaced a 1 year old Toshiba Netbook with the Duo. There is no comparsion. Even ignoring the difference in HD size. The Dell just works wonderfully. I have no issues with battery power, it lasts close to 4 hours, which is plenty. The screen is beautifly clear and the switch to a tablet works well. I bought directly from Dell however since they are now using a higher performance processor (also more energy efficient) that what is listed on Amazon. Also, I didn't want black. The keyboard is great and the mouse pad works better than anyone elses version that I have found. I love the docking station. I also added Android apps which I find very usefull. Dell's pricing was better than any sellers on Amazon as well. But, check around, that can change.

I cannot explain the few bad reviews, I am very happy with the device and it's perfomance. I have been in the industry for many years, so I know how to evaluate performance properly. We have 6 dell PC's in the house and have never had a issue with any. Maybe some do not know what to expect or how to understand what PC specs mean.

I bought this to use in a motorcycle fairing. It is almost perfect for my application. Light weight, works great, sounds great. My only issue is it requires a constant 'on' power source to keep the memory. My prior stereo (with out an SD card slot) had flash memory and did not require power when off. BUT for the price, it is a GREAT DEAL!

As far as sound quality and features are concerned, you get what you pay for with this unit. It isn't fantastic, but it does well for the basics. Functionally, it performed to my expectations (I purchased it to install in my Polaris RZR). It has basic bass/treble/mid settings and front/rear/left/right speaker settings as well. It has an old school "green screen," but that's no big deal for installation into an off-road vehicle. I like that it supports SD cards, USB jump drives, and has a standard headphone jack... this is one reason I purchased this item rather than a cd player. A cd player would be disastrous with all the bouncing around that a head unit does in a side-by-side. The reason for my two-star rating is because I feel this item is falsely advertised as being a "marine" unit. With this label, I expected the unit to stand up to light exposure to the elements, primarily moisture. It absolutely did NOT. After only 3 months, the buttons stopped working, and the unit acted like the volume button was stuck. My father opened it up to discover that it was packed full of dust, deep inside to the electronics panel. He tried to gently clean it, but the unit never even powered back on after that. To be fair, I'm sure that this unit was not designed to withstand the exposure to dust that it received. However, that is not my actual complaint. My issue is, the only reason they labelled this unit as "marine" is because someone (the company, presumably?) COVERED THE VENT HOLES IN THE OUTER CASE WITH A PIECE OF BLACK DUCT TAPE. Seriously??? Nothing else about the unit was even close to being sealed or had any visible physical modifications to make it a "marine" unit. Had I known this, I wouldn't have purchased it in the first place. I would have paid a little more money for a unit that was actually designed to be a "marine" unit. Bottom line, if you are looking for a cheap unit that will get you the basics, this is a decent unit for the money. Just don't buy it based on the "marine" feature. I lost $50-some to learn that the hard way.

Just installed the Pyle PLMR89WW stereo in my 22'WA with a pair of Fusion FR602 Speakers. This stereo does not have a detachable faceplate or a CD player. I view those as positives since there are fewer connectors and mechanisms to corrode and fail (these were weak spots in my old Sony stereo). The Pyle has a remote control, which makes it easy to operate, both SD card and USB ports for playing MP3 files, and 50 watts output per channel. These features are unbeatable at this price, and the stereo rocks with the Fusion speakers. My only complaint is that there is no facility for scrolling through, viewing and selecting the MP3 files stored on the SD or USB drive, although you can skip files or select random play.
