Bought this for my husband to put in his truck. He is really nitpicky about radios and thankfully I got it right when I purchased this one. It has a rich quality sound that is extremely adjustable and it works very well. I would definitely recommend this product as I would certainly buy it again myself.

Great product, but I will need a nother car in which to install it. I didn't realize my Ford couldn't make the instalation possible. Of course that isn't the fault of the radio.

Great receiver for the price. The only downfall (personally) is it doesn't come with a remote. But it sounds great and with the right speakers (Alpine S series), it sounds even better. I've got the Alpine S series 2 ways for my front speakers and the 3ways in the rear and it's a great upgrade from my Dual receiver.

  • A/V Input, remote control, mounting accessories and instruction manual included

I purchased this unit to replace a previous Audiovox unit that failed after 2 years. While I preferred not to get another Audiovox due to that experience, there are not a lot of alternatives for an undercounter unit. I considered the Sony much too bulky, and the Philips unit only comes with the iPod slot which I don't want and consider annoying, so it's Audiovox again. After 3 weeks, I am satisfied with the unit. It is much sturdier in construction than the previous unit, and the design is sleek and handsome. The controls are well laid out and intuitive. Picture quality is only fair (using an analog cable input), but acceptable. When viewing a DVD, picture is actually very good, but who watches a DVD in the kitchen? Sound quality is also fair, about what I expected at this price (this is NOT a premium sound system).

Installation was easy, but I installed under a cornet cabinet, or it would have been a challenge. Who knows if this unit will last longer than the previous unit's 2 years, but at half the cost of the Sony, it seems worth the risk.

I have previously owned a portable Audivox DVD player for my car, which gave me all sorts of problems and Audiovox stopped supporting after only 3 years (in other words, they wouldn't repair at any price). Thus, I entered into this purchase with hesitation. However, I wanted an under-the-cabinet small screen TV, and there are only a few options in this market sector.

I should have learned, but same as my last Audiovox purchase, this one was problem-laden. While it worked (all of 6 weeks) it was adequate. Decent picture, average sound (I didn't expect more for the size and price), and installation was fairly easy.

However, about 5 weeks into ownership, the screen went black. No warning, no power. It happened once, and I thought perhaps a fluke event. However a week or so later it went black again, same thing, no power, no picture. And it never came on again.

I've called Audiovox again, and again their service has been non-existent. They actually recommend "buying a new one" and told me they "can't always get parts for these".

It makes me think they don't actually make any products but pay someone else to make items for them.

I wish I had just tried the more-expensive Sony.

PROS:

* Decent video quality

* Screen can be turned 270 degrees

* Remote is user-friendly

* Includes radio; decent sound.

CONS:

* Audiovox products seem prone to failure and Audiovox doesn't stand behind them. Warranty is virtually worthless

I love my new audiovox tv.. It was delivered very promptly.. The only problem I had was liviing in a townhouse, getting the cable through and I had to hire an electrician at 250.00... The tv, however and all its features are wonderful...You can adjust the screen to fill it at wide angle or turn it to a portrait angle which does not fill the screen.. I dont mind cooking or cleaning in the kitchen now when my favorite tv program is on and I dont have to run back and forth during commecials. The price at Amazon was the best anywhere!!! Free shipping and no tax...cannot be beat...Picture quality is great and can be altered to fit your preferences. It was fun watching my jpgs on it as a slide show

First off, the product works fine and overall we are happy with it. However, there are three very annoying things about this TV:

1. The auto-seek tuning makes manually tuning AM or FM stations tedious. You have to push the tune buttons for the proper duration to make them stop on the station you want. It's trial-and-error to find the proper station.

2. When the power fails, you lose the time AND the saved AM and FM station presets. The discovered TV channels survive the power failure just fine. This is especially annoying given how difficult it is to tune the stations in the first place. See #1 above.

3. Even though we have digital cable with many channels, the TV only "discovered" channels 1-135. You can't enter the number for a channel above 135 on with the keypad. You can only use channel up or channel down for channels beyond 135.

The overall picture is ok. The LCD panel mount is a bit wobbly, but if you are careful and don't allow kids to play with it, it should give years of service. Audio quality is adequate and plays loud enough to hear across our small kitchen.

There aren't many choices in under-cabinet televisions for under $300. This is the best we found in that price range.

I am a bit disappointed w/ the quality of the picture--I can't figure out what it is that needs to be tweaked. It also is smaller than I expected--the TV picture does not use the entire screen and I do not think that is adjustable for TV, altho' it may be for DVD which I have not tried. The buttons on the remote are teeny. But since this is more of a background TV for me and I watch it only for short periods of time, it works for me. I have not tried the radio or DVD player--probably never will. I bought it for the TV only, and that is adequate for my purposes.

Sometimes you get what you pay for. In the case of this radio you don't. $5.00 would have been more like it. The AM radio station I wanted to listen to 55 miles away would fade in and out while walking. I usually had to keep the radio in my hand and constantly adjust it. The ear buds are as cheap as they get. Sound quality is poor even for AM. At maximum volume you won't cause any ear damage. Plugging in my high quality Sony ear buds improved it significantly. My main reason for purchasing it was to use during my lunch hour while walking and listening to talk radio. The day I brought it to work the digital display was all messed up. Parts of the digital numbers were missing. It was unreadable. A day later is was ok again. Then several days later the top half of the numbers were missing. That was it, I returned it to Amazon and got my money back. This radio looked promising and after reading the 5 star reviews I thought I had a winner. It looks nice and is small and portable. But the electronics are bare bones basic.

I bought these Jan. 2012. My Voice Alert system will tell me when battery charge is low and the last 5 "new" batteries I've put in has triggered the low battery alert. I will not be buying alkaline batteries from Amazon in the future if they're sending me "new" batteries with no charge left or can't vouch for the freshness of their products.

I bought these batteries from Amazon and received them in a bubble mailer. The twelve pack of batteries had opened in transit and were scattered in the bubble mailer. Additionally, they have a late 2016 expiration date. I am used to expiration dates in the late teens to even the early twenties at this point. I don't know if 9 volts just don't last as long, but I would have been disappointed if my aim were to use these one or two at a time each year. Instead, I bought these for this year's replacement batteries for the whopping six smoke detectors in my house. I will have depleted them by 2013 so the 2016 date won't be that much of a problem for me. I tend to give batteries four stars, but I give this item three stars instead due to the packaging and date issues.

Vector VEC438 / VEC-438 / VEC-438 FM/NOAA Weather Alert Flashlight

Vector VEC438 / VEC-438 / VEC-438 FM/NOAA Weather Alert Flashlight
  • Auto Storm Alert Warning Alarm
  • Dynamo Power Emergency Generator
  • Digital FM/NOAA Weather Alert Radio with S.A.M.E. Alert technology
  • 3 LED Flashlight.

I have looked a long time for the perfect weather-alert radio. The old ones "warned" so often they were annoying. Also, in hurricane and tornado-prone Florida, I wanted a portable unit that could go with me in an evacuation, but with an AC adapter so I wasn't wasting batteries at home.

This unit fits the bill. It's about the size of a walkie-talkie, with a nice solid feel and soft touch buttons. It uses a cordless-phone type rechargable battery (included) and has an AC adaptor, so you can use it 24/7 on standby in the home. It has a hand-crank if things get extreme. Having been without power for 8 days during hurricane Charley, this is a nice touch. It also has a LED flashlight for power outages.

The setup is easy, but the owner's manual is not the finest piece of writing I've ever encountered. The unit is rather self-explanatory, though, so it wasn't a major problem.

The LED display is easy to read, plus it has a siren feature for emergency alerts, as well as LED warning lights. On standby, it's silent.

The SAME feature allows you to add multiple individual county codes for very accurate local information, without alarms outside your area of concern. It also has an "all county" feature for when you are on the road and/or don't know the local codes. I found my local codes online at the NOAA website in minutes.

I'll add a long-term report later on, but so far I'm mighty impressed!

Wow this product is great. It tells you right away when there is a warning for everything. By Voice or by a siren. (not a annoying siren at all. It just beeps) More with siren. I Have it right by my bed and there is three lights that was stay on for the current warning. for ex. if theres a Tornado warning a small alittle light will turn on which is red for Warning. It comes with FM radio. One good thing is its not annoying the 1st volume is so quiet,great for a small bedroom or just a large kitchen . Just but it on standby when you got it hooked up and your fine. No worrys. It has 3 lights red for=warning yellow=watch and green for statement. Also when the power goes out it comes with a back up LCD light on top which turns on when you dont have it pugged in or the power is out. SO WAT YOU WAITING FOR this radio will not put you down.It also keeps a history of your alerts.(even Weekly Tests) and monthly as well. I also think this is great for gifts. I gave one to my older grandpa and older parents and they love it as well. 5 thumbs up for me

Ordered this from Amazon/WhitneyFancher on May 25, 2011. Received beautiful new weather radio and followed instructions on initial charging, etc. Radio works only for a very short time then dies. I recharge overnight but radio dies again after 10 minutes of usage. After multiple calls I've learned Vector was purchased by Black & Decker in 2006, then Black & Decker sold to Baccus Global in 2010. The company selling here on Amazon (WhitneyFancher) is NOT an authorized retailer, and if they were, they would not be selling this product because it's been discontinued because of the battery issue. So, now I'm past the 30 days to return the item, there's no warranty whatsoever, WhitneyFancher will not return my email (there's no telephone number) so basically I'm out $60. Thanks a lot, Amazon.

Received this as a gift this past Christmas and finally opened it several weeks ago. It works great on A/C power but goes dead when unplugged. The battery won't hold a charge. It took phone calls to three different companies to finally find out that this radio hasn't been made for several years and is no longer supported. At first, they said the battery wasn't covered by the one year warranty. I pointed out that the owner's manual didn't say that the battery was excluded. I pushed the 1 year warranty issue and was told that if I shipped it back and it proved to be defective, the best they would do is to exchange it for a different type of productperhaps a spot light. Do not buy this radio!

I bought five for my family members anticipating a great product from the reviews. So disappointed when one didn't work out of the box,so I programmed the other four and charged them overnight. Proudly presenting one of them to my daughter, I unplugged it to show her all the features and it failed to work at all. Would not even turn on at all when plugged in. I went to another one, same thing. The other two were still working but the FM dial would no longer display. How long before they quit? These are for emergencies and surely can't be counted on. Too bad because it had all the features I was looking for and can't find elsewhere. Very disappointed.

What a great little unit this has turned out to be. It is not a small or as light weight as I was hoping but what it lacks there it makes up for in function. This radio cab be used with the hand crank, alkaline batteries, rechargeable batteries (included), built in solar charger, or plugged in via USB. Lots and lots of power options. I have tried the radio in all power modes and it works great. Takes about 2 hours to charge the built in batteries on the USB and a little less than 10 hours in the direct fall sunlight here in Salt Lake City, Utah. About a minute on the hand crank gave me about 7 or 8 minutes of radio life. To top it all off there is a nifty little LED flashlight built in as well. Digital tuner works well and I can pick up AM and FM signals easily inside a concrete building with few windows and the sound quality is better than I hoped for out of little speakers. The unit can be used to charge a phone or other device via USB. I haven't tried this yet but I would guess it takes a bit of cranking to charge a phone! There is also an aux input and a headphone jack. It has turned out to be a solid unit that has taken a month's worth of jostling in my 72 hour kit that rides in the trunk of my car every day. It feel substantial and like it will take some abuse. The only things I can fault this unit on is that it is not completely waterproof (not a big deal to me, but to some), it is a bit larger and heavier than I had hoped and I would have liked to have seen some sort of protective cover over the solar cells rather than just the clear plastic. So other than taking up a bit more room than I would have liked this is a great unit!

Radios = great.

Crank = OK.

Solar charge = nifty but not efficient.

Flashlight = better than nothing but relatively useless.

iPhone/iPad charger = can't.

I cranked for almost 10 min at the recommended 2+ revolutions per second (which will give you blisters fairly easily. I'd recommend wearing a glove when cranking). The DYN rechargeable battery filled to "full" (3-bars full) and plugged in my iPhone 5. Nothing. I tried iPad and I get a "not charging" message. Now the DYN battery shows 1 of 3 bars charged. So, I doubt after 10 min of serious cranking you can get enough charge to do more than get the display to unhibernate and the familiar plugged into USB audio chirp. But charging an Apple device. DOES NOT work! At least not after 10 sweat inducing minutes of frantic cranking. I'll try 10 hrs of solar charging but I have very little optimism.

Still, it's a very handy self powered radio and that alone is worth the price. Just don't for it to charge your phone or other USB devices. I will only update my rating if I find *any* success charging Apple products as they advertised.

I'm still happy I bought one for the radio but as a device charger YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

Want Eton FRX3 Hand Turbine NOAA AM/FM Weather Alert Radio with Smartphone Charger - Red (NFRX3WXR) Discount?

I received the FRX3 as a 2012 Christmas gift. Mine is the American Red Cross edition in red and black, which other than a small Red Cross logo is apparently the same as the other versions of the radio.

The radio works as advertised: it picks up AM/FM/WX band broadcasts, the hand-crank dynamo does indeed power the radio, the blinking red light does indeed blink, and it has an emergency alert capability. For most people, I suspect, that completely fulfills their initial desires in an emergency-band radio.

The downside, however, is a significant one, and you may only realize the unit has this downside if you've owned an emergency alert WX radio in the past: the alert function is not well designed.

First of all, the emergency alert capability is not covered in the small manual that ships with the radio. I had to email customer service for help, which resulted in a reasonably prompt response from a knowledgeable individual. Can't fault them there. But for something that is sold as an emergency alert radio, I was really surprised to see there was no coverage in the manual of this functionality whatsoever.

You see, it's supposed to work like this: if the local NOAA weather office detects severe weather moving into your area, they broadcast a special alert tone (really, a series of computer-modulated tones) designed to "wake up" any alert-capable radio receivers running within their broadcast area. Typically, such receivers, upon receipt of this signal, sound a loud siren, after which the radio automatically switches on. Anyone in the room with the radio can then hear the specifics of the emergency, such as a severe storm warning, flood warning, civil emergency (think terrorism), etc., and take the appropriate action.

Design Problem #1: The Eton FRX3 will only monitor the airwaves for emergency alerts if you set it to do so, which is usually something done by default by other emergency alert radios. If you remember to leave the radio powered on and in Alert mode, which is signified on the display by a flashing "Alert" icon, it will indeed turn on when an alert is sent out, BUT only if you remember to set it to do so. With NO explanation for how this works in the accompanying manual, I suspect many purchasers will wonder why a tornado just blew through their neighborhood and their emergency radio never warned them.

Design Problem #2: The Eton FRX3 does not have the warning siren. On other radios, this warning siren is approximately at least as loud as a smoke detector's siren. It gets your attention, even if the radio is on the top floor and you happen to be in the basement. The volume level of the FRX3 is not sufficient to warn someone from another room in the house. So you may have to have more than one FRX3 if you plan to use it to alert your family when you are sleeping (located in the bedroom) or during the daytime (in the living area of your home.)

Design Problem #3: The Eton FRX3 isn't designed with another feature called S.A.M.E. functionality that NOAA made available years ago.

S.A.M.E. functionality is a technical way to address one of the limitations of NOAA radio broadcasts: the coverage area of the broadcast is frequently larger than the area that any one particular alert might apply to. For example, NOAA's local station here in SE Michigan covers approximately 5 counties -a huge geographical area. But a thunderstorm warning might only apply to one of those counties. So when the special alert tone I mentioned earlier is broadcast, it not only contains a wake-up message for receivers in the broadcast area; it also includes a special code, called a FIPS code, assigned by the U.S. Federal Government, that indicates what specific area in the greater broadcast area is affected by the warning.

If your emergency alert radio is S.A.M.E. enabled, which the FRX3 is not, it will only "alert" -turn on -if the FIPS code embedded in the broadcast matches the FIPS code you program into your receiver when it is new. Otherwise, the default mode of operation is to alert on ALL emergency broadcasts. The lack of this capability means that my FRX3 radio will alert on every emergency broadcast in a five-county area, instead of ones targeted to my specific area. This is a serious issue, because the user will quickly learn that a lot of the time the radio "alerts", it is not for a warning that affects his area. When the alert eventually IS effective for his area, he may inadvertently disregard a potentially life-threatening emergency warning. Even worse, sometimes these warnings go out in the middle of the night. In my area, we are warned frequently in the springtime about impending floods. There are a LOT of rivers in any five county area of Michigan that can flood in the springtime. Being awakened at 3AM for a potential flood that's happening 50 miles away is worse than not useful, it will cause you to turn off the emergency alert monitoring, which of course, is counter-productive to the goal of being alerted when the emergency actually does come to your specific area. Like I said, NOAA has had this discretionary alert capability for years now -maybe even more than a decade. Emergency Alert radios without this functionality are obsolete.

Design Problem #4: Another problem with this radio is related to the alert functionality: being that the radio receiver must be powered up to receive the broadcasts (although the radio speaker is silent when in Alert monitoring mode), there is a continuous battery drain associated with being in the alert monitoring mode unless you have the radio connected to external power. Unfortunately, the radio does not ship with a 120V AC adapter, just a USB charging cord. So in order to keep your radio powered up for alert mode, you must either a.) purchase an external USB power supply for about $10, b.) keep your radio connected via the (very short!) supplied USB cord to a computer that remains powered on at all times, c.) keep a supply of AAA alkaline batteries on hand and change them every 15-18 hours, or d.) recharge the built-in NiMH batteries roughly once a day using either the USB cord, the dynamo, or the solar panel.

I was pretty surprised when my new FRX3 ate a set of brand new Duracells within a day of leaving it in Alert mode. Fortunately, the display includes a battery strength indicator, but the current drain on AAA batteries is unacceptable unless you're in a temporary power outage (i.e. less than one day.)

So to conclude: this is a decent radio for receiving AM/FM/WX band broadcasts. If you need a radio which will work for you in a power outage, the price is right, and the twin recharging capabilities (dynamo or solar cell) will come in very handy. The L.E.D. flashing red beacon lamp is useless, and the white L.E.D. flashlight capability is not particularly strong, but may be useful. Being able to charge a cellphone using the radio is an attractive bonus. But if you're looking for a true Emergency Alert radio, this should not be your primary radio. It should be a back-up unit, and you should select another radio better designed for the emergency alert function.

We bought this unit hoping to be able to charge an iphone 4 and a droid 4 during a power outage. Our tests showed that after completely charging the unit's rechargeable battery via usb connection to a computer, dump charging the droid 4 recharged the phone only 10%. That's better than a dead phone. As the droid 4 shows charge in 10% increments it may have been more. We'll try it with the iphone and report back. The dump charge depleted the radio's battery in under 5 minutes.

As for recharging a phone using the crank, with the iphone 4, 3 minutes of cranking produced a 1% charge, so realistically you're not going to completely recharge your iphone 4 using the crank but you can generate enough power to make essential calls. Again the droid 4 shows its charge in 10% increments so we assume we would have to crank for 30 minutes to show an increase of 10%, if we can assume charging time is the same for the two phones. If you're on your own it may be a challenge to make calls during recharging using the crank put it on speaker maybe after you've generated enough power to initiate a call?

Unlike most other reviews here we weren't too concerned about the radio though brief testing seemed to show it works well.

For the price then we are satisfied that we will be able to make emergency calls though we won't be cranking this thing for 5 hours trying to reach a 100% charge. If you were under the impression that this device would do that easily then sorry to dash your hopes. There are battery packs made expressly for this purpose that will give you 2-3 100% recharges, such as the New Trent IMP70DNew Trent iCurve IMP70D 7000mAh External Battery Pack and Charger for "The new iPad" the 3rd Gen ipad, iPad2, iPhone 5 4S 4 3Gs 3G, iPod Touch (1G to 5G), Android (Samsung Galaxy Note S S2, HTC Sensation EVO Thunderbolt, LG Optimus V), Blackberry (Bold ....

Update: I didn't want to mislead anyone so must report after further trials with charging the droid 4: with droid at only 5% battery, dumped charge and didn't even make a dent no difference! So for now I'd have to say that it doesn't charge the D4 at all by any method. Previously I thought it produced a 10% charge, but I must have been mistaken. Will try again. If anyone knows how to make it work let me know.

Despite the advertising hype from all kinds of battery producers, my own informal testing of various battery brands that I have used in a wide array of electronic devices leave me convinced that Eveready Energizers are the best and longest lasting alkaline batteries on the market. They are, however, some of the most expensive, and it is difficult to find them at a reasonable price most of the time. This particular offer, where you get 20 batteries for a little over ten dollars, is about the best I've seen in a long time. So, if you need some AAA alkaline batteries, this is a fairly good deal. A nice touch is that the batteries are in a small, plastic holder after you open the paper packaging, which keeps them in order while you are waiting to use them. Highly recommended.

When it comes to consumer electronics, I expect a certain amount of embellishment in the product portrayal, but with the ICF-C773, Sony has come precariously close to the realm of blatant false advertising. From the misleading description to the blatantly false picture, nothing about this clock delivers what it promises.

Based on the description, I *thought* that the clock would gradually ease me out of sleep, with a warm soothing light and soft music. The Amazon product description talks about a "calming effect" and adjustable illumination. Sounds nice, doesn't it? Instead, when this thing goes off it is like the apocalypse has finally arrived. The harsh, alien, LED lights will blink on and off, and if you combine that with the godawful alarm tones, you will find yourself leaping out of bed and looking for a weapon of some sort. Infuriatingly, you have NO control over this blinking feature, other than to turn off the light completely.

Right now, I bet you are thinking to yourself: "Well, at least it looks cool..." Alas, no. It seems that Sony could give Maxim magazine some tips on airbrushing. The clock looks NOTHING like the picture. The sides of this thing are pure, bright white, from top to bottom. But what really stung me is the LCD display. In Sony's artistic rendering, the display is pure black and the numbers are pure white. This grossly misleading picture caused me to assume that the clock would just light up the numbers, like older clock radios do. This method produces easy to read numbers during both day AND night while producing a minimal amount of extra light at night. In reality, the entire display glows blue-white and the numbers are a slightly lighter shade. During the day you can barely see the numbers and at night you can read a book by the light this thing puts out. Thankfully, Sony included a low setting for the screen, which is OK for night, but makes the clock completely unreadable during the day.

Then there are the buttons, buttons, buttons. This thing is covered with buttons, and in what I am sure is some fiendish attempt to drive me to insanity, the buttons you will use the most are located on the back of the unit, where you cannot see them. Prepare yourself for countless moments of frustration as you fumble around the back of this thing pressing buttons until you get the right one. And while doing so, be careful not to bump the analog (not digital!) wheels that control the radio volume and light brightness.

This clock is a huge disappointment, not just because of the reasons above, and not just because of the grossly inflated price, but because it teases you with cool features that just don't deliver. Avoid this clock at all costs.

First of all... getting alarm clock, with really "original design" isn't easy. I've spent many hours looking through many websites looking for a decent one finally finding Sony ICF-C773.

I think I was expecting too much from it. After opening the box, I was very dissapointed with its look. The picture shown on Amazon website is misleading! Sides of this clock are purely white, and "glow effect" is... well... horrible. This watch I think was designed ONLY for bedroom clock/radio AND it looks decent only when the light in the room is off otherwise, better don't look at it.

(-) Digits are small... very small... you need to be very close to see them.

(-) Buttons are ALL OVER this clock, at the back. Unless you remember (!) all of them, you have to actually rotate the clock to see which button is where. Setting up the alarm is really a pain in the........

(+) The only plus I found is sound quality, which is nice. High and mid tones are very clear for such small box. I was suprised honestly, but well... it wasn't for free.

(-) Clock comes with 5 alarm melodies, and ALL of them are horrible (90's?). My cell phone has MUCH better sounds than this clock. AND WHAT'S WORSE, THERE IS NO WAY TO SET UP THE VOLUME OF THE BUZZER!! At least there was option to set-up alarm to radio...

(+) Good radio reception. But that wasn't the reason to buy it.

Overall... don't buy it! It's way to expensive for what you get!!

After fighting with it, I returned this clock, and decided to spent money elsewhere... I recommend that you will do the same.

The clock, radio, and light functions spontaneously ceased working 3 months after I started using this clock radio; as far as I know, nothing happened to the clock radio to cause it to break.

When it still worked, it was confusing to program, and required one to reprogram all stations, clock, and alarm times any time the clock was unplugged or the power went out, as there is no battery back-up. The light alarm is a bit annoying, as it flashes on and off, rather than coming on steadily. By itself, the light is too dim to use to read.

Amazon will not take defective product returns after 30 days, so if you purchase a clock radio that breaks after a month, you will have to ship it at your own expense to Sony, and they'll replace it with the same lousy clock radio ("refurbished").

I for one think this is a gorgeous looking clock radio. I can't help but feel Sony took some cues from the ipod when designing the exoskeleton.

My disappointment would be the abysmal LCD. You can barely read it head-on. You'd have to view it from a bird's viewpoint for the digits to be legible. I doubt it'll be legible from afar either. I've seen other clocks with a similar LCD and it fairs much better even with the illumination turned down.

I needed an alarm clock with a radio, but hate the old black ones with the red digital display. This one is awesome! You can turn it on as a light, have the radio on or off, and program several radio stations into it. You can even program 2 separate alarm times into it! And you can choose how bright or dim you want the display. It is easy to use and looks great on my night stand. I have owned it about 2 years now and it still works great!
