For the price, a bevy of great features, full bass and crisp sound quality compared to some of the other $100 radio alarm clock/charging docks, you really can't beat the iBoom from DLO.

I acquired the iBoom along with several other items from a Thing Fling Mystery Box that I bought for $49.99. This was definitely the prized gem out of all of the items (about 10 or so).

The iBoom has a simple to follow dial located on the top left side of the unit that allows the user to set the time, alarm time, and turn the alarm on or off. The dial turns both clockwise and counterclockwise in 4 locking positions to complete any of the aforementioned functions. Located directly below the dial is a decently sized snooze/sleep button. DLO was wise enough to include a 3.5 mm audio jack for those who want to hook up the iBoom to other electronic devices for audio playback. This cable, while short, connects from the back of the unit where a 12/24 hour toggle switch and FM antenna are also located, along with a switch to detect DST settings based on your location. And another absolutely fantastic feature is the non-slip rubber grip pad located in the top-center of the device. This was a nice and welcome surprise. If you have the device placed on a angled surface this will ensure that your device does not slip off. Of course this is coupled with small rubberized feet located on the bottom of the device that locks the unit in place if it too, is placed on an angled surface. The dock itself is backed by nice & snug support wall so users don't have to worry about the connection breaking loose like the early iHome units suffered from. General functions are all centrally located on the right, top side of the device: wake to, listen to, track/hour volume/minute, and 4 separate preset buttons. The ultimate key feature is the back-light button located on the front of the device, directly to the left of the LCD. There are three presets for this button: bright, dim and off. The bright setting is nice as a great night light, while the dim setting is perfect for light sleepers and those who do not wish to illuminate the room with a cool blue glow. Aside from lighting up the LCD the light also shines through the lettering on the buttons, making reading in the dark relatively easy, while not being too overwhelming.

Users can wake to just about any iPod, as it supports quite a few, but just not the iPhone. However, I should mention that it will charge and playback when an iPhone is connected, it just doesn't support it as a "wake-to" device. Oh well. Had the device supported the iPhone I would have given it a 5/5. However, since it does not, it gets a solid 4/5. Definitely worth the price.

I bought this unit about two weeks ago for $49.99 + free shipping. I see the price is $10 dollars lower now, wish I could wait a bit longer. The best thing of this unit it comes with a "universal" dock so it works on my 2nd gen. iPod Touch with no adapter needed! I have seen similar items elsewhere cost over $75 and are not even compatible with iPod Touch 2nd gen. so I was very happy. The ONLY drawback, if I must be picky, is this machine doesn't equip with a remote control like some other machines on the market. Other than that, everything works fine as I hoped.

This must be a manufacturer-direct-ship item, as it took 10 days to arrive so the delivery is SLOW but with free shipping, I guess I couldn't complain much. Overall, a good product with decent enough quality. For $39.99 plus free shipping, this deal is even better!

What I got was exactly what was described! No problems and it came much quicker than I expected!

I just got this iBoom box from J&R today. I purchased it on July 25 2010 for 24$. at the first look, the iBoom is identical to the iHome (which cost ~100$). It is very solid design with matter black color. I think most of us when we buy this, we intended for the iPod and the iPhone so I will talk about this first:

-The box "is said": compatible with the iPod but no information about iPhone compatibility. But it does work like a charm with my iPhone 4. Since the box is design specifically for iPod then if you plug yr iPhone there will a warning message that this box is not compatible with the iPhone but that is just an automatic message programmed into the iPhone. You just press dismiss when you see that message and yr iPhone is ready to rock.

-The box's ipod/iphone interface is one-for-all rather than with a bundle of adapter as we often say on this type of device. That says it is easy to plug and play with any iPhone and iPod but also because of that it does not fit snuggly to the iPhone/iPod.

-The sound quality is not compared to a Bose or smt like that but it is more than expected for a 24$ sound box. I am satisfied.

-The box has a line in extension cable(3.5mm jack) so you can connect any sound device has an 3.5mm output. This is a great feature for a low-end device.

-The box has a selection button which allows you to choose which input you wanna listen to: iPod/iPhone, FM, AM, and Line-In

-All the volume, tuning buttons are on the top and very to access.

So overall I am very happy with what I spent. Of course, its sound quality cannot be Bose or JBL's quality but you got a decent sound quality for 24$. A note that this box has a listing price of 100$ and now it is not produced anymore by DLO. So I think I get the price 24$ like a clearance price. Given the solid design, easy to access, work well with iPhone... this box is worth 24$ and for the value point of view, I give it 5 stars.

Spent several days looking for a decent ipod/clock/radio to replace a Timex Sounds clock/radio that insists on randomly spurting static out of the bottom of the machine. Decided on this based on the reviews on this site and elsewhere, as well as two reviews in PC type articles. Ordered it yesterday and it arrived today. WOW!

Out of the box -it feels nicely weighted in my hands and seems very well built. My ipod (nano, 4th gen.) fits in the universal dock and charged up fine. Make sure the ipod is set down all the way on the pins. Because it's a universal dock there is some wiggle room when the ipod is in it, but it isn't a problem . . it's just different from the docks that come with other ipod machines. It charges many ipod models. I don't know if it charges ipod nano 5th generation. It didn't say so on the box and I don't have one to test it.

The buttons are pretty easy to use in setting the time, alarm and such. There is a big button that you turn to time, alarm, alarm on, alarm off. If you're used to pushing a button you will have to adjust to this but hey, it's a clock radio meant to get you out of bed in the morning; you'll adjust. lol There are buttons on the right to set the time and alarm and what you want to wake to. Pretty basic and easy to operate.

The sound is pretty dang good for a clock radio. I was excited that it sounded so well and thought that finally, I can wake to my own pod sounds. Welp, think again. Who is the dim bulb who decided that a pre-set alarm volume of 11 was a good thing? I mean, seriously? Why would they take the alarm volume option away from the consumer? Freaking stupid feature. Also, on the bottom of the clock is the compartment for the batteries for backup. Peachy. Except the screws are neither flat nor phillips. I don't know what they are . . . some kind of triangular thing that I could not remove. In searching for how to remove them I came upon the alarm volume information, which was NO WHERE in ANY review I read nor is it stated in the description of the clock on the website or on the box.

The clock is in my daughter's room right now and I am searching for a basic clock radio. One that I can control the alarm volume, one that doesn't have an alarm that 'gradually gets louder' (starts out low then every few seconds increases in volume until the loudest volume is reached). WHO comes up with this stuff??, one that I can set the time (vs. automatic setting), and one that can have the light dimmed. So far, I'm striking out. I want simple and basic and all I can find are features I don't want or need.

Overall, the iBoom is a nice clock radio with really good sound. But the loud pre-set alarm volume ruins it. If you enjoy being jolted awake in the wee early hours, buy this; if not, don't.

8/31/10 ETA: iPod nano 5th generation does charge on this machine.
