Sony DSXMS60 Marine Digital Media Receiver

Sony DSXMS60 Marine Digital Media Receiver
  • Detachable faceplate with 2-line display and front aux
  • Integrated Tune Tray with USB 1-wire input
  • MP3/WMA/AAC playback1 with DM+ enhancement technology
  • Intuitive Quick-BrowZer and ZAPPIN search features
  • Satellite radio/HD Radio ready using Sony Bus

Makes so much sense I wonder why it took so long to invent it. The iPod tray is the best invention since slice bread. No loose wire, the iPod does not move while the boat does and it's neatly hidden and protected behind the faceplate. Also, access to the play lists through the menu is surprisingly easy, which is something most other devices we use to connect iPods don't do properly, Very happy with this product, I'm buying a second one for my car.

Love the unit and like most reviewers love the tray and interface. The only negative is that if your using an IPhone the IPhone gets to hot and shuts off. I even turn mine into airplane mode and still gets to hot. Not sure if this counts as a Sony issue or how they could even fix it.

Purchased this to put on my motorcycle. First rain shower I rode in it quit working. Do not make the same mistake I made by thinking "marine" means water proof or water restiant, This unit is neither.

When playing the digital media, the unit will turn itself off if you hit any tiny wave, even at idle speed. I suspect most of it's design was borrowed from a unit with a CD player, which might have such a protection circuit to protect the CD. And, of course, you can expect zero service from Sony.

My husband HAD this radio in his Jeep Wrangler. After 1 year (forgot to check the weather) YES we had RAIN, and yes the radio NO LONGER WORKS!!! After sitting on hold with Sony for 20mins. they confirmed for 98.00 we could un install it, mail it to TX and they could TRY to fix it or send us a comparable replacement. The guy did say he was very sorry, not as much as I AM for expecting a marine radio to be able to withstand some water. On a side notewhen it DID work it had nice features.
