COBY CX-22 BLK Sports AM/FM Headset Radio

COBY CX-22 BLK Sports AM/FM Headset Radio
  • Uses two "AAA" batteries, not included
  • Ultra lightweight and slim design
  • Large comfortable ear pads
  • Adjustable dual support headband
  • Includes a flexible antenna

This was not worth the money. Because it does not have a digital tuner I experienced " station bleed" on almost all stations to such a degree that I am not able to use it. Spend a bit more money and get a digital tuner.

This product is total junk. It is impossible to tune in any station at all. The tuning dial knob has the frequencies so close together that a fractional movement in the knob results in a jump to the next station. If by chance you are fortunate enough to land on a station the sound quality is awful.

Was looking for a headset style radio and was surprised how few choices were there. The reason became clear after I got this item. Headset feels secure with the additional band running behind the head/neck. The band does squeeze a bit making it uncomfortable after even an hour. AM Radio reception depends on proper orientation, which means to get best reception, one needs to face one way or other all the time. This is a major disadvantage, perhaps for all AM headset radios. FM reception is very good. The dial has some markings which only give a general idea what frequency is being tuned. The sound quality is average (when properly oriented).

The sound quality on this items was fantastic, however, the headbands did not fit my head so they kept slipping off. The adjustments on the headbands would not stay in place, so when I would start for a walk with the headset in place, it would slip down around my neck I don't hear with my neck!

Finally, one day the headset actually flew off my head, crashed onto the street and is now in 3 pieces. So much for that headset.

This would have been a super product had the headbands for the headset been adjustable. I just can't imagine that only men with big heads purchase headset radios.

Overall, you get at least what you paid for ($4).

Pros: The sound quality on both AM and FM is quite good, with plenty of volume.

Cons: They don't tell you it has no tuning dial! There is not even an indication of which way is "up" or "down" when you rotate the tuning wheel. AM station isolation is good-to-mediocre. Removing and replacing the battery cover is a clumsy twisting action rather than a slider.
