iLive iCP211BU AM/FM Clock Radio with iPod/iPhone Dock - Speakers - Retail Packaging - Blue

I bought this knowing it was FM only. I was replacing an old clock radio and wanted something which could recharge my iPhone and play it or the radio as an alarm.

The Good:

The speakers are excellent for their size and with the iPhone give good clear sound for both music and the spoken word. The charging function works with the iPhone 4s (inside the box materials seems to indicate it does not).

The Bad:

The radio is tinny and full of static even when using strong local stations. I have positioned the wire antenna every way I can with marginal results. Note these stations are ones I regularly listen to and have never had any prior issues.

Switching between stations (using the presets I programed) results in a blast of sound, not the programed setting. When I check the levels the level is what I set but the noise is deafening and needs to be reduced by half.

Recommendations: If you only are looking to use the iPhone/iPod/alarm features it deserves a look. If you plan on using the radio as well look elsewhere or at least be sure of the return policy. Mine will be returned tomorrow.

The Amazon description states AM/FM radio. Only has FM radio. Specifically wanted both bands. This is very disappointing to those wanting AM for sports radio broadcasts.
