This product does NOT charge all Kindle Fires. It doesn't charge mine which I bought last November. Not only that, it will not even power my kindle if the battery is too low. I found the following statement in the troubleshooting part of the manual: "If it still does not charge, your device may require you to use the charging accessory that came with it." It seems to be a good product (although a bit pricey), but I gave it 3 stars mainly because of this very disappointing problem. Also, I wish it had the capability of using the snooze feature with online music instead of only FM.
The red color is deep and metallic. The black around the clock is perforated to allow the speakers to be heard clearly. The top controls are covered in a flat rubber material. The design is very attractive but you will be having a tough time feeling for the sleep or off button because it's flush with all the other controls. The front clock display is clear, bright and looks very nice and it's also dimmable. There is an AM antenna in the back that can be hung up or draped behind a nightstand. Also in the back is the time set and DST on/off button. The backup battery compartment in underneath and the battery (which comes with the clock) is easy to replace. The dock cover is easy to switch out and unplug the cables inside.
The time and alarm is easy to set. The Sleep Mode is settable to 120, 90, 60, 30 or 15 minutes. The Snooze feature can be adjusted easily between 1 minute and 29 minutes. You can set the alarm to wake with the radio or buzzing alarm. When playing music you can use the Fire and all it's features to play and adjust your selections. The sound of the speakers are pretty good for such a small clock. As long as you don't expect to hear a live symphony coming out of it you should be pleased. Not bad for a wake-up call.
Overall I think this is a pretty good clock/alarm clock. I am giving it four stars because there are better ones out there and because I think the price is a bit more than it should be. I will be using mine for my Kindle DX and standard alarm. It'll be good for what I need it for.

There's a lot I like about this clock. It works well with the Kindle Fire and the iHome sleep app makes it even better with various sounds to fall asleep to and to wake up to. Nice. It's no bigger than it has to be and so it doesn't take up a lot of room. It's sleek and attractive and the digital clock display is crystal clear with an adjustable light. There's a battery backup so that power surges or outages don't leave you stranded. That should be a standard feature on all alarm clocks, but surprisingly quite a few don't have this basic add-on.Here's what I don't like about the clock -it's a little TOO sleek in that the controls, located on top of the unit, are set flush with the surface. Very bad for trying to find buttons in the dark or through eyes that haven't adjusted to the morning light yet. For me this is a fatal design flaw and just doesn't make up for the many good features. Sorry, iHome. I've been using this for about 2 months now and really love the versatility it adds to my Kindle. I love using the Kindle to listen to Pandora and this is perfect for sending the music throughout the house. I know it's ridiculous, but having a docking station is so much easier to me than trying to find some cord, so that's perfect too. I don't use the radio function, but the clock feature is nice.
I wish I would have read the instructions to begin with...this comes with a little black plate, but I couldn't figure out what it was for, so I'm afraid I threw it away. Now that I read the instructions, I see you can remove the original plate and replace it with the extra one in order to have the kindle horizontal instead of vertical while it charges. This would have been perfect for watching movies, shows, workout videos -so we could use the speaker at the same time, but alas, now I have lost the plate. My fault!
As far as sound goes, this filled 3-4 rooms (doors open) comfortably if you're listening to music. I'm so happy I got this!I was not expecting much from this device. I have been disappointed with other Kindle Fire vertical chargers, but am pleasantly surprised by this one. This device is compact, efficient and even has a great sound for such a small box. The Kindle plugs in easily, because the back support helps guide it onto the plugs. I am impressed with several features, like the raised off switch next to the Kindle face. It's easy to find when the lights are out. I like the volume and shuffle controls and the easy to read clock. I enjoy the choice of alarms with volume control. I have not used the landscape feature to watch any movies at my bedside, but it is easy to install and uninstall. I have no Cons to report. I have been using this for 5 or 6 months now with no complaints.
