I bought this for 2 little boys to use while going to sleep. They have had another version since birth, and it was slowly dying. The sounds coming out are not crisp and clear plus you can hear a repeat every 3 seconds. That would annoy me, but the boys don't seem to care. I love that it has a flexible timer. I tell them to set the crickets for 20 minutes, and when it stops their reading time is up and they need to go to sleep. Another thing that annoys me is that the programing buttons will sometimes not work. As we have discovered, through trial and error, if you unplug it for 20 minutes it seems to reset itself and you can program it again. It must have a self healing something in it like most electronics these days. If I had to do it again, I would not buy this item. We have had it a couple months now but we will see how long it lasts. It does feel cheap.
