Received this as a Christmas gift and was really looking forward to using them while working in my wood workshop. A good design, but how ridiculous is it that it scans and stops on only every 9 khz on the AM band and every 4 mhz on FM. I don't think this tuner is meant for use in the USA. They are comfortable but, really do not buy this if you live in the USA and want to use the tuner. It does have a MP3 player jack, which I would never use.Want Safety Works 10121816 MP3/AM/FM Digital Radio Ear Muffs Discount?
Radio worked very well, and I liked the light weight. The sound deadening quality was also top-notch. Unfortunately, two weeks after it arrived, the iPod jack failed to be reliable. The connection gradually disappeared. This was unacceptable, and I returned it. If I could be certain that this would not happen again, I might purchase another, as accept for the problem with the jack, it was superior to the one I ended up with. Some goof in China hasn't bothered to check US AM radio frequency allocations. Every 10 kHz, from 540 to 1630. Stations in North America have frequencies such as 1000 (KOMO, Seattle) 790 (KGMI Bellingham, WA) or 980 (CKNW, Vancouver, BC) Unfortunately the digital tuner on these radios lands on frequencies such as 541, 623, 1012, etc. Odd frequencies not used in North America; so you can't listen to ANY AM stations. AM is where all the talk shows are. When you need to find out how many Edicts Obama has proclaimed this week, talk radio's the place. But this radio will not allow the tuning of any North American stations. And it isn't the only brand with problem. The error seems to have infected most similar ear protector radios sold under a variety of different brand names. So be careful!
