First of all, YES! This charges my iphone4. I have had it for a few weeks and I am liking it. I was looking for an affordable version for awhile now. This is the one. I can read the clock fine, so not sure I agree with other reviewers on that issue. It charges and plays music just fine in my bedroom. I love a multi-purpose item. I think the alarm/option setting is a bit complicated, but I got used to it after awhile. I like that the alarm gradually gets louder, that sure wakes me up.

I liked the features and large numbers if this clock radio, but was very disappointed when I got it home and tried it out.

Though large, the numbers are very close together so can be hard to read from any distance. They also have poor contrast -turning them up to the highest brightness makes the background so bright that the effectiveness of the bright setting is lessened.

I was particularly looking for a radio with presets, and this has them (20 FM) but the implementation is so poor they are basically useless. With only one button to work with, you have to cycle through the 20 presets to get to the one you want. I put my most often used preset at number 1. If I miss and end up on preset two, that's twenty clicks to get back to what I want -or if I'm on number two and want to go to number one, I've got to go all the way around. Ridiculous.

The iPod/iPhone features are basic, but seem to work well. The radio reception is fine, as is the sound quality. This might be fine for someone who doesn't listen to the radio much, or only listens to one station, and has sharp eyes to read the time across a room (or can put this near to where they will be when reading it). Otherwise stay away.

I have to say this is a great product for the price. I have this on my nightstand to use as an alarm clock & for my wife to use when she is getting dressed or doing her makeup in the masterbath or bedroom. The alarm clock works great & has a gradual increase so it starts off quiet & if you ignore it long enough without hitting snooze it gets surprisingly loud on the buzzer feature. I have an Ipod touch 3rd Gen, and it works great with it. The sound is decent, but if you're looking for a bose quality system this is not going to be the right option for you. The volume is pretty substantial, I have not put it to the loudest but it can get pretty loud without distortion. The size is another nice feature. I have an I home and it is noticably wider than this unit. The smaller size allows it to fit much easier on my nightstand without having to shove other things around to make room. All in all a nice unit that is fully functionaly with docking & radio & alarm functions and for a price that you really can't argue with.

PROS

The sound is very good.

The iPod functions well, and they give you little adapters for other devices. The adapters even slide into little pockets in the plastic wrap. So, if you want to store them easier, be careful not to tear it to shreds when you open it.

The radio reception is good. the FM antenna is a standard wire, but it is a good two feet long.

The alarms (two of them) work great. It starts off quite low and slowly increases (unlike my old iHome unit).

It has a two AAA battery backup so you don't lose all your settings when the power goes out.

CONS

The knobs aren't very intuitive, and hard to read. This was the main reason for my -1 star.

The setup took about 15 minutes...a little longer I'd expect. You'll have to read the instructions on this one.

The presets are a pain one button that only selects the next of 20 presets. Since I rarely listen to the radio, I set a total of 4 stations...I just put station #1 on Presets 1-5, station #2 on Presets 6-10, etc. It does fine for me. If you are a radio listener, don;t buy this unit.

I have no problems with the display...bluish/liht gray LCD display on a black background.

I like the concept of this radio-however, getting it to function correctly has been difficult. As of today, I cannot get the radio to wake up with my Ipod. If i had more money, I probably would have purchased the more expensive model which is easier to use.
