Radio: Maybe I'm slow or something but I've yet been able to find a great position for the FM wire antenna to get clear reception so this is why I gave 4 stars.
Remote: As the other reviewer said, my remote was also dead on delivery but I found a cheap 5 pack of the cell batteries here on Amazon so the problem was fixed soon enough.
Potential buyers should make note of the fact that this product only charges certain types and generations of iPods. It won't charge my 3rd generation 32GB iTouch...

If you're looking for an FM radio or a way to play your ipod through your speakers, this is fantastic. its compact but surprisingly loud, has great sound quality, and after playing with the antenna a bit it gets great reception.if you're looking for an alarm clock, on the other hand, run away.
I purchased this item because I was looking for a new alarm clock, and this machine is useless as an alarm clock. the only way to set the alarm clock is on the tiny, cheap, credit card sized remote. the necessary buttons are not on the unit itself, only the remote. the remote's battery was DOA....so before I could attempt to use it I had to go and buy a new battery. the buttons on the remote respond about 1/3rd of the time, meaning it typically takes about 15 minutes to set the alarm.....I'd really prefer not using a remote at all, and just using the buttons on the machine itself, however, like I said, the alarm buttons are not on the machine.
do you typically use a snooze on an alarm clock? here's the way snooze works on this one. when the alarm goes off, the buzzer, ipod, or radio starts playing, and the light starts flashing. when you hit the snooze button, the light stops flashing, but the sound keeps playing. the only way to stop the music is to turn the alarm off, so your only option then would be to set the alarm again.
it certainly does a good job of waking me up, and once you set your alarm, assuming you want to wake up at the exact same time every day, it would work pretty nicely. however, if you ever want to wake up at a different time, you'll have to spend another 15 minutes attempting to get the remote to respond to the buttons you're pressing.

I saw it in the local adds and while I was out stopped by the store. I turned on the disply model and really liked the sound it produced so I bought it. When I took it out of the box all was still going good until I tryed the remote control. (DEAD) I could do most functions from the top of the unit though. Then I was reading on setting the time and radio presets... you have to have the remote. I called Coby who said that they would send me a replacement remote in FOUR WEEKS if I fax them some paperwork. I decided to take it back to the store where I got it. The store replaced the unit... no problem. So, the only down side to this unit is the silly remote... if I loose it or it dies, I am screwed. Oh, it doesn't have battery backup so if you are using it as an alarm clock and you loose power... explain that to your boss. I do like the sleep function but again it is only available on the remote. I haven't used the synchronize feature yet.Want Coby FM Clock Radio with Dock for iPod and MP3 Players Discount?
Don't know how to really rate this product since I haven't been able to get it to work. Needs a power cord which I have requested and never received. I do know that I will never again order from this Amazon vendor. Customer service personnel are not familiar with company products. Rep gave me incorrect information on first call. Second call stated they would get the cord right out to me. Still waiting. Wondering if the thing is coming from China. It's a simple power cord that wasn't included in the box. Product was supposed to be "NEW". Feels like it was returned and everything was included but the cord.
