The alarm clock rings with a song from your Ipod, or with the radio, or even with a common beep.
Compared to similar systems, I like the fact that it has the radio, which is somethinng that is missing from my Ipod.
The connection between Ipod and the speaker is stable and strong, and safe for your Ipod as well, you may need the adaptor that comes with the package depending on the Ipod model you have, and the speaker works also as charger for the Ipod.
The speaker itself works very well, of course this is not hi-fi quality, I'd say it sounds like a common computer speaker, which is ok for me also considering the price and all the other features that ottavo has. ( come on!, it has a remote control, tooo!)
If you're looking for a multifunctional object to complement your Ipod functions, this is great!I just ordered two of these. One for myself and one for my husband. I set mine up first and tested it with my iPod touch and iPhone 3. It worked wonderfully. I put them on the docking station one at a time and they both started charging immediately. I played music on both of them, and it was great!
Then I set up the second one. I put my husband's iPod touch on, and nothing. No charge. I tried playing the iPod and it played through the system. When I removed the iPod from the dock, a small plastic piece broke off of the alarm clock docking station. I then tried my iPod touch on the defective unit, and it still worked. Not sure what the deal is. I tried my husband's iPod on my alarm clock and it worked fine, and charged. So I think something was defective with the docking system to not work and then break so easily. I am returning the defective one and ordering a replacement.
I gave it three stars for the defective item. For the one that works, I am happy with it (so far).The only reason I'm giving it 4-stars instead of 5 is because it doesn't get super loud. It does however, get loud enough for the 1 room it's in. It also has a remote which is super handy. You can adjust the display light to low, high, or off which is great at night, and it comes on automatically when the alarm goes off. It works well with my ophone or ipod touch, and I love it. The radio feature is also nice.Great sound, Easy to use, 2 alarms! awesome compatibliity with my 2nd gen ipod nano. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because it doesn't remember your volume settings. It always turns on at the 20volume level which is really loud when you're waking up to it. Scares the heck out of me everytime.
