Nokia 5300 XpressMusic Unlocked Cell Phone with Camera, MP3 Player, MicroSD Slot--International Vers

Nokia 5300 XpressMusic Unlocked Cell Phone with Camera, MP3 Player, MicroSD Slot--International Version with No WarrantyI love this phone. Recently I joined T-Mobile and received a free violet Nokia 5300 and a Nokia 2610. I kept the 5300 and gave the 2610 to my mother thinking that it would be an easier phone to use for an older person. The 2610 was an awful phone and my mother was unable to figure it out. To remedy this situation, I gave the Nokia 5300 to my mother and I took the 2610. She was able to use the 5300 with no problem. Of course, I had really liked the 5300, so I ordered this red one for myself. I love the fact that the phone is very easy to use that I can listen to music or audio books on it and it feels so comfortable in my hand. I'd have to say that it just fits. It's thicker than most slider phones but I personally like that. It's small enough to fit in my hand but not so small to be difficult to see or handle. My only difficulty with this phone is that the volume seems low; however, it is better once I move my ear around and find the right spot for listening. I have only had this new phone for a few days so far, so I need to adjust to it and also look in the book to see if the listening volume can be raised. With the headphones on, the music and audio books sound great. The speaker sounds pretty good with some static. All in all, I love this phone. This particular phone is an international phone, so just in case I do travel outside the country, I can use it. Maybe I'll have to save some money and do that.

the product had a default, the back lid did not fit well. But when i conducted the sender ,i was sent a replacement immeadietally, good job.

this is by far the best phone I've ever had, great sound, great durability. only one bad point: Battery life. I use it to sync with my pc and to handle my agenda.

Pretty decent phone with good features, but this phone is very fragile. Lcd screen broke just being in my pocket, without dropping it. The warranty had run out. I only had it for two months. I had insurance with t-mobile, but the replacement phone was higher than what I paid for the phone. I got the phone on discount by entering a two year contract. I will never do that again. In short it was a bust. I feel I got ripped off.

Degen DE1127 AM/FM/SW Pocket Radio with 4GB MP3 Player, Voice Recorder & E-book Reader

Degen DE1127 AM/FM/SW Pocket Radio with 4GB MP3 Player, Voice Recorder & E-book Reader
  • 4 GB flash memory MP3 player for music, radio program, e-book (TXT file only) & voice recording for up to 215 hours (40 kbps)
  • 248 preset memories + built-in charger + LED back-lit display
  • Digital clock + Sleep timer + Key lock + Numeric volume indicator
  • Pocket-size world-band radio with built-in speaker & earphone jack for private listening
  • 30-day money back guarantee & 1-year Manufacturer's warranty

This little gadget is really cool, but while recording FM radio a constant popping sound is inserted into the recording. The reception was clear but the popping must be an internal issue when recording. Found some others online that reported the same problem, but decided I would try it and see if maybe they just got a defective unit. Bummer. Mine had same problem. Returning it for that reason. If you are not recording from the radio you would probably love this toy. Not much out there that does all of this in such a little package. Comes with radio, ear buds, usb cable and rechargeable battery.

Radio, MP3 and voice recorder work great. Decent shortwave reception, very good AM/FM. I use the MP3 player mostly for news broadcasts/Alex Jones/ Hour of the Time and the like and it works great for that purpose but I wouldn't recommend it for music audiophiles. Ebook reader is lame but I really didn't expect much due to the size of the display. My only other concern is the antenna is very loose already and not very sturdy.

Previously bought the Kaito KA801 which works very well and similar to the Degen DE1127 BUT was difficult to learn how to use and remains harder.

Of the 2, Degen DE1127 is unquestionably the better choice.

If you think that this is as small as the Degen DE 1126 think again as it is barely 1/2 the size. If there is one thing I don't like it is the tiny telescopic antenna as thin as a "tooth pick." Nevertheless, reception in both AM & FM is very good in my area, stereo sound on headphones great and off course 4MB recorder, voice recorder & MP3 player all built in. Like with all Degens' of this class you have to tune down a radio program prior to recording. The ideal carry around never leave my sight gem.

I have had both the degen 1126 and 1127 and the degen1126 is the exact same thing but it is much sturdier. it is wider also but is a little thinner. trust me folks if you are thinking of getting the 1127, just get the 1126

Toshiba SD-V593 Progressive Scan DVD/VCR Combo with HDMI

Toshiba SD-V593 Progressive Scan DVD/VCR Combo with HDMI
  • Progressive scan DVD/VCR combo; measures 17" x 3.5" x 9.8 inches (WxHxD)
  • DVD player compatible with DVD movie, CD audio, DVD-R/RW, CD-R/RW, VCD, and SVCD discs; MP3, WMA, JPEG
  • 9-in-2 memory card reader; VCR with 8-event/1-year programming
  • 1 HDMI, 2 composite in, 1 composite out, 1 S-Video out, 1 component out, 1 digital optical audio out, 1 RF in, 1 RF out
  • Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound modes

Note: Past Toshiba DVD players have had documented problems reading disc (see all product reviews prior to 59.. series). This is not the better, newer 59.. DVD model. They are using the older (bad) drive in the combo VCR/DVD to save money.

I purchased this model expecting the newer 59.. model DVD drive. This drive has eliminated many of the previous problems associated with Toshiba DVD system. Unfortunately, I gave Toshiba too much credit.

The system showed all the signs of being the older drive. Skipping, random pixilated image, loss of sound, and problems initializing the disc. Come to find out they are using the older drives to save money on these combo units. Toshiba has deceptively named this model after their newer, redesigned system in an attempt to sell their remaining stock of older drives.

Well, I didn't need to read far into the first customer review to discover that my issue wasn't singular. The issue? The DVD player, after working just fine, just stopped reading disks. Boom, just like that, over, out and that's all she wrote! One night it was working great, the next night a "NO DISK" message. Naturally, I tried a number of disks, even the optical lens cleaner one, but no go, it's dead.

The player was got in late August of '05. I'm the only user and I'm a Type-A careful guy, so I didn't do whatever killed it.

For image and sound, high marks while it worked. For longevity, minus marks; why should it only function for 13 months? I've got another DVD player, Toshiba, or there would be no need to mention it, that's been working wonderfully for over 6 years. Why this glaring discrepancy in the products sold under the same name?

If you are comfortable spending a fair amount of money for short-time usage, it gives high quality pictures and sound while it's alive. Otherwise, research DVD players and buy something reliable, which this particular one isn't, alas.

After reading some of the reviews a few months I reluctantly purchased this machine because it had the features I wanted. I was reluctant to buy because of the difficulty many reviewers on here expressed about set-up and getting a picture.

I had no problem setting it up and it used to work fine. However we've had it a few months now and the machine does not recognize DVD disks. I've read other online reviews today of Toshiba's other DVD products and it seems that their products give up after a few months.

I've always been a Sony guy and have bought MANY things over the years from them without any problems (as with any company I'm sure Sony does have some occaisonal defective products, but I personally have never come across any). At any rate I can not recommend buying any Toshiba DVD products based on my limited experience and what I've read.

I went to Toshiba's web site to see if they offered trouble shooting. It seems logical to devote some space on the web site that lists the various error messages with suggested actions. The web site does not have this. I did look at the owner's manual, which does offer some trouble shooting, but it does not cover this particular error message. Toshiba's customer support is open M-F, 10 am to 7 pm Eastern. I'll call them when they're open. Obviously customer support is another weak point of Toshiba. I'm in California so I'd have to call between 7 am to 4 pm California time, and I'm either on my way to the office or already there. So their hours of operation for most people in the Western US is inconvenient.

To be fair I do not know Sony's customer support hours (or if they are better) but that's only because I've never had a problem with Sony or had a reason to call them.

I've had this combo VCR/DVD for two weeks now and so far I am very pleased. I didn't have any issues with connectivity to my Pioneer Elite Plasma. I have the DVD portion of the player connected via the supplied HDMI cable to Input 3 of the plasma and the VCR portion connected via the supplied composite cables to Input 2 of the plasma.

The picture quality of the upconverting (I'm using 720p at the moment) DVD is very good especially at this price point. I considered other DVD players from Denon and Panasonic but decided on this Toshiba. I decided I would save a little money for similar PQ and a VCR as well for the tapes I haven't replaced yet. Since HD-DVD or Blu-Ray is right around the corner I didn't want to spend too much on the upconverting feature, which is merely a stopgap technology anyway.

As for the VCR picture quality, it is fine. It's more a function of displaying on a 43" Plasma than the player anyway. I don't know of any player that will display a great VHS picture on a large screen panel.

Overall, I'm very happy with this unit. The price/performance can't be beat as far as I'm concerned. I obviously haven't had the player long enough to comment on its durability, build quality etc, but I'll be keeping an eye on it and add to my review in a few months.

This machine only lasted a few months and know the DVD player constantly freezes. I tried cleaning it, but it still constantly freezes to the point that watching the movie is impossible.

I received this as a Christmas present.....the box says "for your iPod or iPhone...and "comes with 4 inserts to adapt your model"....well, first, mine only came with 2 inserts. I went online, and inserts are $6+ shipping. To top it off, there isn't even an insert that works with an iPhone....I emailed customer service and they told me to use a line to connect my iPhone, but it wouldn't activate with the alarm or charge my iPhone.....so, basically, I have an overpriced alarm clock with an audio jack.

Before I found out it wouldn't work with my iPhone, I tried to set the clock. It was more time consuming than any other alarm clock I've ever owned. The speaker quality is comparable to a dollar store alarm clock. This will be going right back. I can charge my phone and use an alarm app to get better results.

Pioneer DEH-P7200HD CD Receiver with HD Radio, OEL Display and iPod Control

Pioneer DEH-P7200HD CD Receiver with HD Radio, OEL Display and iPod Control
  • AM/FM radio, CD, CD-R/RW, MP3/WMA/AAC, USB, HD radio receiver
  • 4 x 50 Watts maximum power with three 4V RCA preamp outputs
  • Detachable faceplate with full-motion 16 x 3 OEL display
  • Front panel auxiliary input and USB; add adapters for iPod control, Bluetooth, SAT radio
  • One-year warranty

Installed in 1995 Ford F150 XLT Ext. cab w/stock {for now} speakers.

Installation took about an hour, direct replacement of the factory HU. Pretty basic once you get the original HU out.

I've had my P7200HD for about a month now.

The HD sig reception is great and I've had no probs breaking/losing signal. Having the 3 row display is nice for song info, etc.

ipod {I'm using USB2.0 cable} controls are great and ipod can be controlled from HU or ipod, which is nice for passengers.

Audio control gives many options for tailoring personal tastes. I've been able to fine tune to where my factory speakers sound pretty darn good. {Still going to upgrade them though.}

I haven't tested the CD/XM/bluetooth capabilities yet, but I'm confident that they will perform as well as the rest of the system.

On a scale of 1-10 I give the P7200HD a 9.5.

The only improvement that I would have would be a dedicated ipod connection from the rear of the unit.

Would I recommend the P7200HD?

You bet!

I like this Head Unit and I'd buy it again for what I want in a head unit for all the reasons you can see in the description and other reviews, but be warned it has one major detractor in my opinion.

The Multi Control knob which is basically a volume knob on steroids and can not only twist but can be tilt clicked up down left and right and center is sometimes a pain to operate when driving.

I can't count the times that I have tried to hit the center click which activates the main menu so that I could fine adjust some audio only to accidently hit a directional click (sending me usually not just off song, but to root of directory) instead because of road vibration. It's kinda hard to hit center click consistantly when the car is moving and your driving. You have to look down, make sure your in the center and then hope the next pebble you drive over doesnt jerk you off your tiny target. I'd much prefer a multiple button setup. Also even when you hit the clicks right sometimes if going over a bumpy road you might click with alot more force than you intend to and I'm constantly afraid of breaking the only knob that controls my stereo. Know that I have most of the fine tuning done I try to use the remote to operate it when possible, But I still need to get into the menu occasionally when I drive and it's a pita to do unless I pull over. I drive a Subaru Legacy wagon not a pickup truck so my ride isn't all that rough although streets around here could be better. Why do we need a Multi knob in a non hand held platform. Multi-knobs are great for hand-held, they suck for a moving target.

This is a great deck with a 3 sets of 4 volt pre-outs, a built in hd-radio tuner, and usb and ipod capabilities. Great deck for functionality. The only two things I would have liked to see are a fold down face to cover the cd entry slot and a second usb port in the rear of the unit to allow a hidden usb connection somewhere in your vehicle. Still beggers can't be choosers and I found through extensive comparison that this product had more of the features that I was looking for the best price. Thank amazon for the lowest price and super saver shipping.

Want Pioneer DEH-P7200HD CD Receiver with HD Radio, OEL Display and iPod Control Discount?

This head unit is by far one of the best that I've ever owned. I am quite an audiophile and I prefer a fully customizable set up. I own a BMW and have fully amplified interior speakers; this six channel receiver is perfect for my anticipated addition of two 10" sub woofers. I have previously owned other head units including Kenwood, Pioneer, Sony, and JVC (regrettably). The Kenwood was a DVD Touch Screen unit, and this radio's sound quality is far superior.

The sound coming out of this head unit will blow you away. I caution anyone who buys a new head unit to also replace their stock speakers. If you are leery of doing further customization of your vehicle, I would just say that you shouldn't bother buying such an amazing radio--the quality of sound will be lost on you.

The USB input is wonderful because you can hook up a 4Gb stick and listen for hours. I took my car from Cincinnati to Chicago this weekend and never heard a repeat song. Plus my buddy was able to plug in his mp3 player using the aux in input on the front. There is no hassle with adapters or i-pod only cables.

My powered antenna has always had really good reception, but the HD channels sound exactly like listening to a CD or mp3 player. I was really impressed.

The sound quality is good, especially for the price, and that is why this radio gets 3 stars.

I mated this to the Sirius Satellite receiver, and the sound is good, but there is no provision for directly typing in the channel you want, so you will find yourself scrolling through channels or presets while you are trying to drive. The remote is also just a channel up/down button, but no keys.

The USB drive plays songs in alphabetical order. The only way to separate the songs into playlists is to save them to different Windows folders, but the folders play in alphabetical order. For this reason, I find myself using my iPhone to play music through Bluetooth audio.

The menus and settings are not intuitive, and it is difficult to set them up how you want them.

Also, be aware that the color of the display is blue, and there is no way to change that (I didn't take stars off for that, just know that the color is fixed at blue.)

Logitech Pure-Fi Elite High-Performance Stereo System for iPod (Black)

Logitech Pure-Fi Elite High-Performance Stereo System for iPod
  • Robust sound system designed for rich audio playback directly from any iPod
  • Integrated dock charges iPods with dock connectors while you play music
  • Includes digital FM radio and backlit remote control
  • 3.5-mm auxiliary input for older iPods and other MP3 players
  • 2-year limited warranty

The Pure Fi Elite is the Audiostation from last year with a few minor tweaks and a major quality control issue addressed, mainly the horrible button controls from the Audiostation that didn't work in the first few batches of that earlier product. The Audiostation units got a terrible rep (especially at Best Buy) and many retailers stopped carrying the product and / or steeply discounted it. The revised Elite is therefore hardly a great surprise, but be reassured that the button issue is now fixed.

The Elite's main strength is as an Ipod dock system, and it does a credible job here. The twin 4" woofers and 1" tweeters do a nice job of producing clear and well-differentiated sound, and the 80 watt power of the system means it will be able to get loud enough for most users. There is no distortion even at high volumes, but there is also virtually no stereo separation. The stereo expander DSP does very little, but doesn't hurt anything either. The stereo expander in Altec's IM600 is a lot more effective at increasing the soundfield.

Speaking of comparisons, the $130 Elite sounds roughly similar to the Griffin Amplifi ($100). The Griffin has better bass, while the Elite offers better treble detail. These tendencies are directly related to driver design, with the Amplifi's 2.75" drivers muddying treble a bit but with it's 5" woofer giving better bass extension that the Elite's 4 inch drivers. The Elite has a lot of extra features though and can get a bit louder. It also charges your Ipod even when turned off, a feature which the Griffin lacks. Both units have minimal stereo separation effect, and the Amplifi has no stereo DSP, while the Elite has one that barely works at all.

The Bose Sound Dock ($300 list) generally sounds a bit louder and stronger in mid-tones than the Elite. The bass sounds roughly comparable, and the Elite gets the edge in treble. The SoundDock has much better perceptible stereo separation and the remote also works more reliably and at longer distances, though the Elite has many more feature. The Elite also has a huge price difference, at least in "real world" prices.

The Elite has many unique features. The remote has access to both shuffle mode and up to 6 playlists. It does not offer full Ipod menu control, but unless you have the eyes of an eagle, you probably can't see the Ipod screen details from more than six feet away anyway. The Elite has a sleep timer, a video pass through for most Ipods, an auxiliary input jack, and adjustable bass and treble level. The remote is adequate with access to most features, and a pretty good range, though it needs to be aimed precisely.

What does the Elite lack? The radio sadly is a miserable effort, really an afterthought. The tuner is grade D quality and can barely tune in even strong FM stations and I could not get any AM at all. (This in NYC, admittedly a tough interference environment, but this hardly explains the incredibly bad tuning performance.) Even when you can tune in a station, the reception is usually not clear with annoying hiss and static bursts. A $20 clock radio can tune in more stations. My own Panasonic clock radio can indeed tune in far more stations more clearly, as can my stereo receiver, my Tivoli PAL, and my Sangean table radio. The Elite's tuner is truly incompetent in comparison. As far as dock radio combos, the Altec IM600s tuner is far far better, and the two units go for roughly the same price.

Because of the lame tuning capability, the RDS feature is rendered useless. To get RDS info, you need to have a strong clear FM signal, and the choppy tuning of the FM tuner on the Elite meant that I could get no RDS info at all from the stations in the area that broadcast that program info. Scratch one special feature!

Finally, the presence of a clock and the absence of an alarm indicates feature stripping by Logitech to make sure that you need to spend extra money to get their separate overpriced Ipod clock radio. Not sticking a basic alarm function in a >$100 system which already has a clock is just pure cynical "product differentiation" of the most annoying sort.

Anyway, if you want a decent performance Ipod dock, the good detailed and amply loud sound of the Elite recommends it. The terrible radio tuner will frustrate and disappoint those who want a multi-function unit, and the lack of stereo separation in the sound is an expected though unfortunate deficit. This is definitely a better bargain than the Bose SoundDock, but the Amplifi is a tough competitor, especially since the radio function on the Elite is so poorly implemented. The Griffin has a somewhat less loud sound though richer bass, and is also about 20% cheaper. The Amplifi sounds better with rock and electronic music. The Elite is more stylish and has a few more useful features on the remote like Shuffle and Playlist and also sounds better with classical and acoustic music.

One caution though: the list for the Elite is in theory $300, and paying anywhere near that level would quickly evaporate any of the Elite's advantages. Get the Elite for $150 and you'll be happy, but pay $200 or more and you will probably be paying more than the system is worth, especially with the Griffin consistently selling at or near the $120 price point.

THE GOOD:

This product works with any kind of iPod. Logitech includes a set of adapters that snap on to the docking port. My mini works in it beautifully (although you do have to remove any clip attachments or covers you have on your iPod first).

Set up is pretty much idiot proof and takes about 5 minutes.

Includes a "sleep" function so that you can set it to go off when you want. Sadly, there is no alarm feature.

Light enough to carry from room to room if you want to.

All iPod functions work either through the iPod controls or with the remote, which is really clear and easy to use.

AM and FM radio antennas are included. You'll need a fairly strong station signal for them to work. I live in the hills so I can't get most stations, but at least 3 stations I like I can get, which is more than I can say for my regular stereo unless I add an antenna.

Display is clear and easy to read. Adjustable for brightness in both "on" and "off" settings, for 12 or 24 hour clock, iPod backlighting level and language. Displays RDS station and song info where available on FM stations.

You can adjust the treble and bass (see "the bad" for discussion of sound quality) and can turn on Logitech's propietary "StereoXL" feature which greatly improves the sound when you get more than a few feet away from the unit.

Can be used with an A/C power source or connected to your computer port.

Has video pass-through feature so that you can display photos/video on your t.v. if your iPod has these capabilities (mine doesn't, so can't say how good that feature is).

THE BAD:

The sound is about what you'd expect for a "bookshelf"-type stereo system. Not horrible, especially considering that the input is an iPod, but all the adjusting in the world can't keep it from sounding muddy. it would have been nice if there had been a midtone setting in addition to bass and treble. In other words, this won't replace your regular stereo system, but if you buy songs by download and have no other way to play those, or can't afford a full stereo system, or just need something to take to parties, the office or rooms that aren't hooked up, this is pretty sweet.

THE UGLY:

The smell! Has a nasty chemical/plastic odor that will give a headache to those senstive. Hopefully, this is going to fade pretty quickly. Otherwise this is going to be my outdoor stereo.

CONCLUSION:

Overall, I quite like this unit. It won't replace my CD collection just yet, but it's a nice addition to my bedroom, which doesn't have room for a stereo system and isn't wired up to run off my main stereo. This is great for playing podcasts before bed and definitely good for parties. Anyone can take turns loading in an iPod. Overall, a pretty darn good product if you need the kind of flexibility a player like this can give you. But it certainly isn't a replacement for a full stereo system or even a good set of computer speakers and iTunes or internet radio.

Read Best Reviews of Logitech Pure-Fi Elite High-Performance Stereo System for iPod (Black) Here

Right out of the box, you realize there's nothing flimsy about the Pure-Fi Elite. The unit is heavy relative to size. It's a sleek, solid black. The display pictures show it without the speaker covers. You don't see the woofer and tweeter when you're looking at the actual unit. The front of the base is at a 30 degree angle, which makes it easy to see the controls and the display screen. The display is large enough to see comfortably with either white on black or black on white, depending on your angle.

The Pure-Fi Elite is a docking station with some nice features and a few gaps. When the iPOD is in the docking station the base charges the iPOD. To hear your music, use the iPOD's menu to select the songs you want to hear and press play. The Pure-Fi Elite will turn on the iPOD, switch to iPOD input, and start playing music. Navigation buttons on the base or the remote control will let you move through your playlist. You can also make six of your playlists into presets. There is a video pass through feature to connect a video output jack (not included) from the back of the base to a TV to display photos or video from the iPOD, too.

The base has a Universal Dock and comes with nine separate adapters, so you can use it with 4th and 5th generation iPODS. There is a chart that shows you which adapter fits your model. If you have a 1st, 2nd or 3rd generation iPOD you'll need to use the aux input connector on the back of the base. (1st and 2nd generation do not have a dock connector. 3rd generation are not supported by the Universal Dock.)

The remote control uses two AA batteries (included). The remote is slim and fits into a holder that can be snapped onto the back of the docking station. I found it much easier to program this from the remote than from the control panel on the front of the unit. You can set the time with either a 12 or 24 hour clock. There is a sleep timer, but no clock/radio or clock/iPOD wake up feature. Radio and iPOD navigation is easy with the remote. You can also adjust the bass, treble, or Stereo XL for your own sound preferences.

The base has AM/FM radio, which is easy to navigate and external radio antennas are included. There are six presets each for AM and FM. If your FM station utilizes RDS, you can see the station's call letters and slogan as well as the dial number. With the external antennas in place, one or two FM stations came in beautifully. Other local FM stations didn't come in very well at all, although they sound fine on other radios around the house. None of the AM stations came in very well. The radio isn't the main attraction of this unit, but since it's included it would be nice if it picked up the stations better.

I played the Pure-Fi Elite at full volume and it did fill the room without sound distortion. At full volume on the Pure-Fi Elite doesn't seem as loud as it does on other units I've owned, although it beats ear buds hands down.

The unit comes with a power cord, power supply, and wall cord. It's an awkward arrangement that I've come to accept on laptops, but I was surprised to find it on a small stereo unit. The power supply seems unnecessarily large and heavy it's only slightly smaller than a brick. I unplug devices when they aren't in use; when I plugged the base back into the wall outlet a day later, I found it had lost the time and other presets.

The Pure-Fi Elite would have been perfect if the radio came in better, if it also functioned as a clock/radio, or if it didn't lose the time and presets when unplugged. I think it's a three and a half star unit, but since we don't have the half star option, I'd round it up rather than down. Overall, this is a solid piece of equipment. It's easy to set up, and music from the iPOD fills the room with good sound.

Off the bat I am an audiophile and this unit delivers superb sound.

Since I am such a stickler for good sound, I did a LOT of research and finally narrowed it down to the Bose-sounddock and the Pure-Fi.

I was toying with shelling 3x more for the Bose-sounddock which I must admit sounds superb as well a friend of mine owns one ... I am very happy that I went with Logitech.

I also own a pair of Logitech Z-2300 speakers and love Logitech quality when it comes to sound.

Now the Pure-Fi will not shake your floor like the Z-2300 does, but it packs a lot of punch and I mean a LOT. ( I love bass and this unit reproduces bass very well). It is heavy for its size and in speaker world that is usually very good.

For those who want to know the power adapter is 110-230V compliant which is a big plus for me since I travel a bit. I could not find that information anywhere online!

Only con I can think of is that the adapter is a brick and I mean it! its quite big but that is not a big deal for me.

Pure-Fi vs Bose Sounddock no-brainer the Pure-Fi wins hands down.

Sound same

Remote better (Love the playlist memory functionality)

Design same ( I prefer the Pure-Fi)

Value for Money NO brainer there!

I'm now two weeks into a very positive experience with the Logitech Pure-Fi Elite High Performance Speaker System. If you're of the age that remembers vinyl LPs and table sized stereo systems (not table top systems, but table sized) like me, you'll be blown away with the Logitech Pure-Fi Elite High Performance Speaker System's capacity to fill the room with rich sound! Using your iPod as the music source, the Pure-Fi Elite almost... almost... renders the multi-disk CD player obsolete. Play lists and genre lists give you all the flexibility that you need. But then, that's nothing new to the iPod owner, right?

Where my enthusiasm comes from is the fact that my Pure-Fi Elite System frees me from the curse of the ear buds. I like being able to listen to my music without tuning out the world around me, a situation that my wife appreciates as well. I considered the little speakers that can be added to an iPod, however I had yet to listen to any that provided adequate sound quality. That's where this system excels! The tonal quality is excellent in every room we've tried it, even outdoors (albeit with limited volume, a pleasing aspect to any neighbors). Yes, it's light enough and portable enough to move from room to room as you please. No, it's not truly portable in that it does not work off of batteries, so if you're a hard core mobility person you'll still need your ear buds or boom box. Once curious design quirk in that regard is the fact that the Logitech Pure-Fi Elite High Performance Speaker System has the type of power adapter usually seen with laptop PCs. I'm not sure why, and I'm sure that Logitech had a very good reason for using that, but maybe they can fix that with a future version.

A perfect player of this sort would feature a remote control that can completely duplicate the iPod's menu capability. Unfortunately the Logitech Pure-Fi Elite High Performance Speaker System isn't perfect in that sense. It's good, but not ideal. Selecting a play list is best done through the iPod itself, although you can assign your play lists to preset buttons on the remote. That just requires a little bit of effort in the setup.

The remote does however take care of the most important functions though; power, volume shuffle etc. It also controls the AM/FM radio that is built in to the unit, which provides excellent sound reproduction although not on par with the iPod (surprise... surprise).

Setup is so easy that it barely qualifies as a setup as far as I'm concerned. And getting back to the unit's semi-portability aspect, one of the nicest design features is the considerate use of a little extra plastic to provide a holder for the remote control. I appreciate little things like that!

First and foremost though, the sound quality is excellent within it's power limits. For party background music this will do fine. If you want to power a dance floor, hire a DJ with some more powerful equipment. But if you want to fill the common areas of your home with whatever music you like (in my case an eclectic collection of rock, folk, pop and classical), I would suggest that you'll be well satisfied with the Logitech Pure-Fi Elite High Performance Speaker System

RCA RP5415 Clock Radio with Digital/Analog Display and Line-in for MP3 Players

RCA RP5415 Clock Radio with Digital/Analog Display and Line-in for MP3 Players
  • Please see the above description.

I prefer an analog clock-face to a digital display, and this model offers a choice: flip a switch to show numbers, flip it back to show an electronic "hands" display. HOWEVER, even on the dim setting, the backlight is so bright we were able to read by it. *Our neighbors* actually commented on the blue light shining through our bedroom curtains. Since return postage was about half the purchase price, I kept it and use it in the basement to provide illumination for our dogs and cats on their nightly prowls. It's a miss in my opinion.

Overall, it's a nice alarm clock that is small enough for a nightstand and looks nice sitting there. The features are hard to turn down with its modern design and reliable brand name (at least from my experiences on the life of the unit). That is why I chose this clock knowing the risk of some issues some of the others had.

Unfortunately, just like many other complaints (even outside of Amazon), the volume wheel does break. Mine literally broke seconds after opening the box for the first time and just gently making sure all the knobs and such work. But, I'm an impatient person on returns, and considering the cost of the unit, the holiday season mailing times, and just general shipping and time needed, I just fixed it myself in a few minutes. The problem is the little plastic piece that connects the volume wheel to the volume controller. They used a very small and weak plastic tab that extends off the wheel through the volume controller that can't withstand the stresses of twisting. I ended up drilling out some of the volume wheel and super glued in a metal nut, and then a modified version of the little plastic tab they had used, making it nearly unbreakable. Putting the unit back together was a bit of nonsense, but eventually got it all back together and now works fine.

My advice on this purchase: If you're comfortable fixing small little things like this along with remembering how things go back together, or if you are willing to make one or more returns on this thing to get a good one. go for it, you probably wont regret it. Otherwise, I would suggest not taking the risk and just keep looking.

Adding to the chorus; the radio we received also has a free-wheeling volume control wheel. Too bad, it's a cute radio, and I like the feature of being able to read the tuner frequency as you search for a station.

Looks better than it's built. Volume control is broken and freewheeling after a few months.

The radio I bought was broken when I got it. I had no problem getting a refund and didn't have to return the item.

Excellent service!

Midland WR-100C Weather / All Hazards / Civil Emergency Alert Monitor with S.A.M.E.

Midland WR-100C Weather / All Hazards / Civil Emergency Alert Monitor with S.A.M.E.
  • Receives All NOAA Weather Channels
  • S.A.M.E. Technology
  • Memory System for 25 Counties
  • Clock with Alarm
  • User Selectable Warning , Siren, Voice or Flashing LED

In retrospect, I wish I had ordered the WR-300, as the WR-100 does not have an AM/FM tuner. When you're hiding out in your bathroom during severe weather (and my WR-100 is located in my master bathroom for convenience), it would be nice to be able to listen to your local radio stations for bulletins. Still, this radio performed flawlessly just a few hours after I opened it up. It woke me up at 1am to tell me there was a tornado watch in my area, and I turned on The Weather Channel and confirmed this.

The manual comes with a set of instructions on how to get the radio up and running. DO NOT SKIP THESE! You should not assume that you know how to use this product intuitively, because it is not a very intuitive product at first. It will become extremely easy to use later, but only AFTER following the instructions in the manual to the letter. SAME codes for your region can be found at http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/indexnw.htm#sametable

I bought this radio even though it had a few bad reviews, because I was pretty sure that some of the bad reviews were just operator error. My radio runs just fine plugged into household current, and will run for several days on the 3 backup AA batteries. Keep a pack of spare AA batteries around, because this radio is a real lifesaver and you don't want it to run dry during a power failure.

Two reasons I gave this radio 4 stars instead of 5:

1. No AM/FM radio. If you need that, get the WR-300.

2. When the weather radio switch on the right side is set to "on", every keypress will react with a very loud BEEP! If you use this radio as an alarm clock in a quiet bedroom, you must first turn that switch to "off" and then the unit will operate silently while you adjust your alarm time or activate the backlight to check the time. This is a small nuisance and I wish it had been designed differently. Don't forget to turn that switch back "on" when you're done, or the radio won't sound an alarm in case of an emergency.

Note: this is a copy of a review that I posted for the WR-100B, which appears to be nearly the same (check both listings for best price).

I live in Oregon, which is not noted for severe storms, but I was really caught "off guard" last week when a severe thunderstorm with a large amount of hail blew through. Severe weather can occur almost anywhere! Shortly after the storm, I ordered one of these weather alert radios to keep me more aware of any local hazard that could pose a threat.

The radio itself is quite sensitive, and provides reception of several more distant weather stations that can not be picked up by less sensitive receivers such as the general purpose (AM/FM/TV/Wx) Sony 410 (see my review of the Sony).

The big deal here is the weather alert function... The radio can be set to be silent until it receives a specially coded message from the NOAA weather station. The radio can be programmed to respond to "codes" from one area or several, so you can adjust your "zone of protection" to suit your needs. When a warning that affects the area that you have programmed in (by setting specific SAME codes) is detected, a loud alarm or flashing light or voice alert will sound (your choice).

If it is desired to hear a weather report, just push the "weather" button on the unit and listen... very much like those old Radio Shack "weather cubes" that were very popular 20 years ago, but with better reception.

Everyone should have one (or more) of these.

This product works perfect...and was a great price especially with the rebate....To the person with the problem making the unit run on DC power....you had it plugged into the wrong jack on the back...NOT the middle jack...Plug DC cord into jack labeled DC....and then it will run fine on household current and not eat your batteries.

This radio is superb. It is easy to setup, and functions very well in our area. It has more options for user selection than any other similar device I've used. No home should be without one.

This unit was actually delivered to me Thursday and we had our first severe weather of this season on Sunday, four days later.

This radio allows you to listen to weather forecasts at any time want to by pressing one button (when you first get the radio choose one of seven frequencies for which you get the best reception.)

The best part of this radio is the "S.A.M.E." technology which only sounds alarms for severe weather in the in the county where you live. You can choose to have alarms sounds for multiple counties area your area refer if you prefer.

Because the National weather service station in my area covers such a large area, severe weather watches and warnings are very common. The "S.A.M.E" Technology allows the radio to sound the alarm only when severe weather threatens the county in which I live.

The radio is easy to program and the user's manual answered any questions I had.

Daffodil AMC530G Stylish Highly Legible LCD Digital Alarm Clock with Calendar and Thermometer - Whit

Daffodil AMC530G Stylish Highly Legible LCD Digital Alarm Clock with Calendar and Thermometer - White with Green Base
  • Digital clock with 12 and 24 hour display
  • Calendar with day and date function
  • Tempertature displayed in celcius or fahrenheit
  • Adjustable snooze duration - 60 seconds to 60 minutes
  • 8 Settable alarm tones

This clock is cute, and the thermometer is a neat feature. However, the directions are very unclear, and the clock/alarm is really difficult and loud (beeps with *every* button push) to set. Plus (and this is a biggie), the numbers don't glow. I think that this might be great on a desk or in a workout room, but not for waking up or any other time when it's dark and you need to see what time it is.

Appearance wise, this is very cool! I have it on my desk at work, and people are always commenting on how cool it is. It has lots of neat features, such as the 8 different alarm tones, and variable snooze settings--but figuring out how to set it is NOT easy. It took me forever to finally switch the temp from C to F (another review said this wasn't possible--but just press the "down" button when it is in clock mode).

The little instruction booklet that comes with it has many pages, but unfortunately they focused on having numerous languages translated rather than going into more setup detail. For English, it only has 2 pages describing how to set the time and the alarm. The rest is up for trial and error---for example, which of the 4 identical tiny buttons on the back is the Snooze button? And which one turns off the alarm?

Luckily, once you get it figured out, it works well, and has some great features.

I've had two of these, one for my foreign exchange student and one for myself. We both use and enjoy the clock. I had one of those clocks that sync to a time standard. Everytime daylight savings came along I had to dig up the instructions to set the silly thing. This clock is intuitive. This was my primary reason for getting the clock. It's also a really cute design. I agree that it would be even better with a push-button back light but that's the only weakness that I see. Oh yea, it's irregular shape means it gets knocked over when clearing the alarm. The old clock was traditionally shaped and I knocked it over too so don't consider it unusual.

Terrible. I ordered 2 of these. Both lose at least a minute a day (pretty bad for a digital clock) despite several new sets of batteries. Junk.

Looks good, works fine, nice for the price. The temp function is convinient as well. Would probably buy one again.
