COBY CX-71 ORG Mini AM/FM Pocket Radio with Hand Strap

COBY CX-71 ORG Mini AM/FM Pocket Radio with Hand Strap
  • Built-in belt clip and handstrap
  • Compact and colorful design, weighing just a few ounces
  • Features Dynamic Bass Boost System (DBBS)
  • Lightweight earphones for stereo sound
  • Uses two "AA" batteries, not included

I purchased this for my 2 year old daughter because she always wants to listen to her older sister's and my expensive MP3 players. Rather than risk having her break the expensive players, I decided to buy her an inexpensive alternative.

This radio was perfect. Low price and surprisingly better quality than expected. Durable enough to take abuse from a 2 year old and continue working. Both AM and FM stations are picked up fairly well if they're local. Sound quality is pretty good.

My 2 year old managed to rip off one of the ear buds right away by sitting on it because the wire is very thin. I replaced the ear buds and haven't had a problem since.

Definitely worth the low price.

Let's not mince words here; expecting miracles from a Coby electronic device is like asking your dog to go make you a nice lentil stew. Let's not even expect a semblance of qualitative parity with most brands when Coby enters the picture. They just don't operate that way. What you get with Coby-branded stuff is bling'd-out, cut-rate mediocrity, or even outright "failure by design," and this radio is a fine example of the syndrome.

For starters, there is the matter of the "neck strap," which is the appropriate term to use if this radio was meant to be worn around the neck of a goose, or a ferret, or a small Chihuahua. It does fit well around normal-sized human hands, so if you are part of that demographic and don't really care if Amazon mislabels the product, then have at it.

The other issue could be more of a showstopper, and that is the matter of the dial calibration. The problem dial doesn't quite reach the bottom of the FM spectrum, preventing me from listening to one of my favorite local stations. Is this a design defect, or is this more of Coby's famous quality control?

Otherwise, the radio is okay. It feels sturdy, and reception in both bands is alright for local stations. I think the case is polypropylene, which is good because it means the belt clip will last a while. The earbuds, of course, are a joke. It isn't as good as the Sony's and Sangeans, but they cost quite a bit more. If you want a radio so cheap that it literally is not worth your time to return it, then this is the one.

I live in a major metro area and the radio stations I listen to are major stations, so it is usually very easy to pick up signal for them. This thing couldn't do it. It got nothing but static.

this radio is one of the worst terrible radios out of all of coby's crap, and this is just pathetic, you know coby, the worst and cheapest you can brand buy, don't get this.

For the price, this is a good item. You get what you pay for. I am having issues with the ear buds where they plug into the unit. I have to twist the wire to not get scratchy noises.

I love the sound quality. Just don't understand why a random shuffle is so complicated and I need to buy more hardware and download to an MP3 converter to compress. If I wanted an MP3, I would have just bought an MP3.

I was not aware that I was getting some used pieces... other than that, it sounds great. The remote looks very used. I wasn't aware that I was buying a refurbished radio... It seemed like the price was for a brand new one.

There is no comparison between my old stereo and the Bose. I hooked both of them up in the same room, then threw the jvc away. Quality product and great service from the seller

Geneva Sound Systems Model S: Hi-Fi Docking Station for iPod/iPhone with FM & Alarm, Black

Geneva Sound Systems Model S: Hi-Fi Docking Station for iPod/iPhone with FM & Alarm, Black
  • iPod Universal Dock for iPod and iPhone
  • FM radio with digital tuner with presets
  • High fidelity 2-channel sound with digital signal processor, bass enhancement and Embracing Sound to enhance compressed audio
  • Powerful amplifier that is also award winning for energy efficiency
  • Clock with programmable alarm
  • 30 pin dock that will work with iPhone 4S and earlier.

I am a tech geek gadget freak--I admit it--but I'm also a music fanatic and an audiophile who has worked in the home theater/hifi/consumer electronics industry most of my life, and more importantly I've had the opportunity to listen to literally hundreds of sound systems, big and small, over my career. I do have a great, large, 2-channel audio system in my living room that I use for critical listening, but when bopping around the house I actually prefer to haul my iPhone around in my pocket and use it as a source to stream to wirelessly from my iTunes collection on my computer (told you I was a geek), popping it into iPod docks and minisystems I have placed in each room.

Each of these dock speakers/systems in the house is from a different manufacturer, so I have quite a bit of listening experience with many brands, not only from the units I own or have owned, but also from demos I've done at Apple retail stores and many Consumer Electronics Shows. I'd also like to think I have a pretty discriminating ear, but that's just my opinion.

The GenevaSound S by Swiss company Geneva Lab is hands-down the best iPhone/iPod dock speaker system in its size and price range that I've ever heard. I currently own Klipsch, Bose, Logitech, and Cambridge Soundworks units, and it blows them all away. Surprisingly, the Klipsch iGroove SXT comes closest to the Geneva and that's at half the price (if you're paying full retail). If you need a great sounding iPod speaker dock without a radio or alarm functions it's my solid recommendation. The Bose Sounddock is the product that's most comparably priced to the Geneva S, but based on the sound quality (or lack thereof) I've heard that thing produce I wouldn't take one home if you gave it to me. Plus--no radio, no alarm--it's not even a comparable unit even though it sells at retail for the same price as the Geneva S. The unit I'm replacing with my Geneva, a Bose Wave clock radio/CD player, sounds so bad in comparison that it went right to the trash after I set the Geneva up and listened to it.

First, the sound. Full, decent stereo separation, great low end (for its size anyway), clear highs. It's perfect for a bedroom, which as an alarm clock is what it's designed for, but I wouldn't recommend it for any room larger than that. I think based on the volume level you would need to fill a large room you would probably get some rattle and distortion in the cabinet. But again, it should give you more than enough output in your bedroom, the space for which it was designed.

Also, I've read in some online reviews of the product that the tone controls (separate bass and treble) on the remote control have no audible effect on the sound. I don't agree. While their effect on the sound is definitely more subtle than the tone controls on a full sized home audio system, they did change the sound noticeably when I bumped them up or down.

The looks. It's a stunning-looking unit, and very well designed from an aesthetic aspect. Reminds me somewhat of the Bang & Olufson line a little, but much cleaner and simpler. And definitely sturdier. Based on the weight of the unit and the build quality, I doubt you'll have any reliability issues. I bought the black lacquer version, and it looks as good if not better than advertised. I do have a bit of a beef with the included stand though...not sure why they didn't make it in a color matching the cabinet. The gray metal looks a little cheap holding up the unit, and I imagine it would look equally cheesy with the white and red versions. But despite how the stand detracts from its overall beauty, I would never use the unit without it. You will definitely get better sound from the Geneva if it's raised off of the surface a few inches, plus using it with the stand does give you a little more room on your nightstand.

The features have been detailed pretty thoroughly on the product's Amazon page here, so I won't go over them again. It's a pretty stripped down product, without the number of bells and whistles I would have preferred for the price. Two things I DID like about the Bose Wave's clock radio was the way the alarm would very gradually increase in volume until it reached your preset level, and the way the LED display would dim or brighten automatically based on the light in the room. But hey--the Swiss are known for their minimalism aren't they? And besides, the sound quality is far more important to me than those small innovations.

The unit is far from perfect, in spite of its great sound quality. Here are my quibbles, beefs, and cons:

--The clock. Military time only. Yeah I can do the math in my head after Noon, but c'mon Geneva! It's just a simple 4-digit LED display. How hard would it have been to program the units shipped to the US differently? Not a deal-breaker though.

--The radio. You have to use an old-school, chrome, telescoping metal radio antenna (included) to get any reception whatsoever. There's a good reason you won't see it in any of the product images: it completely ruins the aesthetic of the unit. UGLY. Good thing you can unplug it or retract it when not in use. And even with the ugly antenna plugged in, I still get pretty poor reception no matter which direction I place it in. I live in a densely populated part of the LA metro area too, so my distance from radio towers isn't an issue. My Bose and Cambridge units (both clock radios) do a far better job of radio reception in the exact same location. Also, the GenevaSound S is FM only. But seriously--if you're going to listen to garbage quality AM on your clock radio this unit probably isn't for you. I'm sure you can pick up a hotel-grade radio for $10 or so at your local drug store for that. Overall these radio issues are not deal-breakers for me. I didn't buy a device that plays music this beautifully to listen to FM, and since I use it with my iPhone I have plenty of apps installed that allow me to stream radio anyway, and in much better quality.

--Mode switching. A little bothersome quirk I noticed: when you pull your iPhone/iPod out of the dock, it automatically switches to the FM radio. It wouldn't be such a big deal, except in my case since my FM reception is so horrible it ends up going from music to loud static. Why doesn't it just turn off? Not sure why they designed it that way, but not a good idea in my opinion. Geneva does warn you about this feature in the manual, but that still doesn't excuse it from being a bad idea. Not a deal-breaker, and you may get better FM reception than me so this may not be an issue for you anyway.

--Alarm. Just one alarm. Both of my other clock radios have two, which is great for cohabiting couples. Do all Swiss people sleep alone? I also wish you could listen to one source and wake to another, a feature on my other two clock radios. With the Geneva, it will only wake you to whatever source you were listening to when you fell asleep. I'd prefer to sleep to music and wake to the radio, but no can do. Also not a deal-breaker, but worth noting. If you're an iPhone user like me, I've actually found a workaround for this: turn off the GenevaSound S's alarm completely and use the iPhone's built-in alarm in its Clock app (included with every iPhone). That way you can still fall asleep to the music of your choice and then wake to either one of the iPhone's 25 standard alarm sounds or to one of your ring tones instead of the one GevevaSound S's own unimaginative "beep". Another benefit of my method is that in the unlikely event you lose power at home overnight you'll still be awakened by the alarm on the iPhone played through its own little speaker. Geneva claims in the manual "the clock remains valid for up to 1 hour of power loss." In my experience "up to" usually refers to a best case scenario, so if you work in a critical job that you can not afford to show up late for I'm not sure I'd put my trust in Geneva Labs on this one.

--Sleep timer. Or rather lack thereof. That's right, for some reason Geneva Labs decided to leave off this one simple feature that EVERY CLOCK RADIO I'VE EVER OWNED had. So if you're gonna fall asleep to music you're pretty much gonna have to hear the whole album or playlist. Good use for the iPhone/iPod's "On The Go" playlist feature, by the way. And forget about falling asleep listening to the radio, because it will play all night long AND you'll never wake up to an alarm (remember--the GenevaSound S will only wake you to the last source you had on). This is actually the biggest design flaw I see in the unit, and could be a dealbreaker for some if you use it in the bedroom mostly as a clock radio. It wasn't for me--the unit allows you to play an iPhone/iPod through the dock and another through the Line In simultaneously, so I'm working around this by using my iPhone's built-in alarm while listening to music on a separate iPod through the line input. Did I mention I'm a geek?

But none of these issues are serious enough to make me return the GenevaSound S or replace it, and in the end it's all about the sound quality, which is phenomenal. I've found myself going to bed a little earlier and laying in bed a little later in the morning just to stay in the bedroom and listen to music. It sounds that good.

And in my experience, when an audio product makes you want to listen to music more often you've got a winner on your hands.

Geneva Lab is known for setting an early high fidelity sound standard for iPod docking speaker systems, and their latest little tabletop device does not disappoint. It offers a surprisingly rich sound from such a small box, and it has a very simple and elegant design that balances nicely with the aesthetics of the iPods it is designed for -I've got a couple of nanos and an iPod touch, and it works great with all of them. It's about 5 inches tall, nearly double that wide and 7 inches deep, and comes in white, black or red. Just the size for a desk or a dresser -it would fit nicely and look good in an office or a bedroom or kitchen. I've got the white one and I like the way it looks on my dresser. It's almost an insult to call it a "dock" -it is much more elegant than almost anything on the market, and unlike most of the docks available at the big chains it has a solid heft to it (it's about 7 pounds), clearly designed with quality in mind. What I like even more is the way that it fills the room with sound -I've had a couple of iPod docks before and neither nearly as nice as this one, and none came close to the range and depth of sound as this one delivers easily. Admittedly, neither cost this much either, but with GenevaSound you're paying for what seems to me a nice balance of form and function. The reason to buy an iPod (over cheaper mp3 players) is that you value simplicity, elegance, and great sound -and if you value those things, the Geneva S delivers, and while it's not inexpensive it's not cheap either.

Speaking of functions, it's not just an iPod dock. Like any dock it can play from and charge your iPod. But it's also an FM radio with a digital tuner; plus it doubles as an alarm clock that you can set to wake you up to your favorite song on the iPod; there's also a stereo mini plug for auxiliary input. One minor oddity -owing probably to the fact that these things were designed in Switzerland -is that the clock won't do standard 12 hour time it's set to 24 hour military and can't be changed. Another minor annoyance is that it comes with just a single adapter, for iPhones, and while the dock will take most standard adapters for various iPod sizes, it's a bit of a pain to seat them and to remove them once you've seated them. The manual says just to click them in gently, but I find that when I tried to seat my adapter the mount kept trying to flip over, and it took a bit of doing to get it to click in there. Still that's a fairly minor thing, since once you have it in you're not likely to need to bother again. Since I've got a few different kinds of iPods I decided just to take off my adapter and mount things directly without them. That means there's a bit more wiggle room for the iPod, but since most iPod functions can be controlled from the remote or on the system panel, there's no need to touch it once it's mounted. The dock itself swivels closed when not in use but swivels open when you hit the mode button. The system as a whole can be set directly on a flat surface, on its four little rubber pads, or can be attached to an included silvery stand that elevates it about 3 more inches.

There's a metallic grating that covers the dual speaker system in the box, and a red LCD display shows through the grating on the upper right hand of the box. The display shows the time, or the radio station, whether the alarm is set or not; it indicates the volume when you change it on a scale from 1 to 100 and indicates treble and bass values that range from -6.0 to +6.0; it also indicates which function you've switched to when you change, say, from the radio to the iPod as source for your sound. The coolest feature, though, is the touch sensitive controls on the top of the box. When you touch the region in the upper right hand corner of the top, it lights up to look just like an older generation iPod, complete with back and forward and menu buttons, a power button, and a scroll wheel for volume. These buttons actually control the iPod itself when you have it docked. All of these functions and more (e.g. bass and treble control, programmable radio stations) can be controlled through the remote, but since I tend to misplace my remotes I find it comforting that most of what you need to do with this dock can be done with buttons on the unit itself one of my pet peeves is dvd players and other devices that can't be properly controlled from the player itself without the remote, but in this case most everything can be done from the touch controls on the device.

But what about the sound? Obviously this is the most important feature, and the GenevaSound S performs well here -I was kind of hoping for a more expansive, deeper, sound but it is better than anything of this size that I've tried. The basic design of the Geneva speakers is built around what they call "Embracing Sound" which means, basically that there is a closely spaced set of dual speakers, and that manages to fill the room with a stereo sound. In this case there are two 3" full range woofers, each with a capacity of 15 watts. I was surprised to notice that there is a genuine left to right depth to the sound, and I didn't expect that out of such a small system. The levels are quite good, too -at least in a small room, and especially if you're not the kind to "blow it out." You're not going to be able to run a house party with this little box and I find that the sound it delivers is at its highest quality when you have the volume up to about 60 on a scale of 1 to 100. Much higher than that and I began to detect minor imperfections, and an occasional rattle. At 100 it is extremely loud, but for most types of music I've listened to the speakers seem to show their limits at that level. After a few tests, I decided to keep it more in its medium range. Still, for my bedroom and my office, which is where I've mostly had a chance to try this out, it delivers more than enough sound. At 60 it is quite loud enough in my room and I wouldn't dream of going louder than about 40 in my office. Even in my living room, the medium level is more than adequate for ambient music.

About the video: I created a little stop motion animation of the process of opening the box, to show what it comes with and how it's packaged, and after that I have a brief video demonstration of a few of its major features. Most of my review is here, and the video is intended as just a quick illustration. Obviously, there's no way to give any real sense for the sound of this device in a video review since it would only sound as good as YOUR speakers.

To sum up: the GenevaSound S looks great, and sounds good for such a small system; highly recommended for those who want a compact and elegant sound solution for a small to medium-sized room, and especially for those who subscribe to William Morris's principle that you should "have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." If you need it really loud and immersive, though, with soul shaking bass and immersive sound, you should probably look elsewhere (or get a bigger one, like the GenevaSound L).

I'm a professional mastering engineer for 16 years now and must admit I have developed a level of snobbery about good audio that most would have trouble rivaling.......and I LOVE the way this little guy sounds. Smokes the bose, ihome and sony dock/radio set-ups you see in most hotel rooms etc. Room filling sound that still maintains some semblance of imaging.....just righteous. The controls are fast and responsive and the look is sleek and sexy. SInce buying this one I've started at a new gym that has one each of the next two larger models they sound amazing too! Nt sure what Geneva is doing inside there but they're definitely on to something.

Oh yeah it goes loud too!

My fiance and I decided to swap gifts a few days early this year since we're traveling from relatives' house to another.

Luckily for me, she discovered my Amazon wish list (I was secretly praying that sooner or later she would) and she picked this fantastic unit up for me because of it.

As soon as I saw the box, my eyes lit up. Based on everyone else's reviews, I knew it was going to be good. But my god, it is even better than I expected it to be.

First off, the styling is impeccable. It sits atop my case study nightstand, next to my case study bed (mid-century modern style bedroom furniture from modernica in LA) and it fits right in. The brilliant white color, the terminator-esque front display and the iPod-esque top controls are simple, understated and gorgeous.

Once you get past the visual joy of it and get it set up, you realize this is no iHome junk. As others have said, this is one solid unit and the sound it produces is truly stunning given its small footprint. Once I set the bass to +2 and the treble to +5 (both are adjustable from -6 to +6), the sound was exactly where I wanted it. As soon as that was done, I sat there for 3 hours listening to all manner of music from my iPhone 4 (which fits perfectly and gets charged by the unit while it plays).

My musical tastes are varied, if you were to put my iPod on shuffle, you're equally likely to hear the Ode to Joy as some Pantera or Outkast and it handles them all brilliantly. Is it better than a great home stereo? No, I certainly won't be getting rid of my B&Ws anytime soon, but for in the bedroom it is absolutely perfect. I like to listen to music while I'm getting ready in the morning and it handles that task absolutely amazingly. I can turn it on and it's loud enough to be heard in any of the rooms of my (admittedly small at 1200 sqft) house.

If you like subtle, beautiful, well-made pieces and appreciate aural pleasure this is the unit for you. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Much better than Boze! I listened to Boze with my iPod and it sounded hollow and flat. Then I listened to the Geneva and very noticeable difference in sound quality, full and crisp. I am a singer and listen to a lot of music and this one makes a difference for the price. Like the other reviewer says, it will rattle a bit if you turn it up very loud, which is really too loud for the space for which it is designed. I highly recommend if you are looking for a unit for a small to medium size room. My studio is about 550 sq. ft. and it's perfect!

Was looking for a nice speaker dock for my iPad2 that had a FM radio as well as a auxiliary input for my satellite radio tuner. Most products I looked at were priced way higher than this and most lacked either the FM tuner or the Aux port. Saw this and thought I would give it a try. The iPad was a little tricky at first to put in the dock. but after about 5 minutes of practice I now pop it in and out flawlessly. Sound quality is good for the iPad, FM Tuner and Aux port. One nice feature is the telescoping antenna. Most others either had a thin wire antenna or none at all. It makes it much easier tuning radio stations without having to move a wire around and hold it to the wall with tape or a thumb tack. I do wish the clock had more than just 24 hour format. If it does have a 12 hour format it is not in the manual to change it to that setting. Also if you are using it with the iPad you can't see the display. So figuring out which radios station, the source you are on and setting the eq takes some thought. Other than that is is serving my purposes just fine.

Everything is touch screen now, i thought this would be cool as a mini E.T. system in the bedroom.

I don't think its luck that made this product worth buying, or some twist of fate that gave me a good device.

I have bought Pyle products before and know they stand by their equipment.

Other than the touch screen dock being a bit pricey, no complaints.

It's ok, not what I had hoped for. The digital portion of the radio sits behind the iPad so you have to remove it to change stations.

I was hoping it would have a tuner app that would display on the iPad for tuning the radio.

WoW! I did not expect this at all. I ordered this system based on reviews and I'm glad the reviews were right. The system is very simple to install and it works great. I installed this system on my 2001 kawasaki vulcan 1500 myself. At 80 MPH I hear my mp3 music load and clear. The only thing I'm not happy about is the Fm radio reception, it's not that great. If you're looking to buy a system that is waterproof, sounds great( with your MP3) and you dont want to spend a load of money dont look any further. For the price I found it to be Great.

Took 84 dollars to buy additional aftermarket brackets just to install out of the box and when installed FM reception was so horrible even within a Metropolitan community of infinite stations the sound was AM quality. Aux. connection for mp3 or ipod stopped working after two hours of driving. Boycott this product and anyone who has the nerve to market it. I am out the money with only two cheesey plastic speakers still mounted to my chrome pclamps on my motorcycle handlebars. Pyle (pile) Audio ripped me off.

this is the third radio i've purchased. third not becaused of any fault in the item, but because of myself. these things won't tolerate too much vibration, and the mounts that i've been making to mount these on my motorcycle haven't been able to absorb it, so they have been coming apart inside.i think i've finaly came upon a design that works.

so if you want an excellent stereo for a motorcycle or anything like that, then this is a good one. i just wish the manufacturer could supply mounts for the radio.they supply mounts for the speakers, but not the radio.so be prepared to create something for that.

I read all the reviews on this product, most of the folks were not happy with the FM reception. I agree, but I did not purchase this to listen to FM. I use this product with my GARMIN. My GARMIN has an MP3 player built in. So I cruise on my VTX1800T and enjoy the tunes and when it is time to turn the music stops and Mr. GARMIN says turn and then music return.

Sony Ericsson SK17A-WH Xperia Mini Pro SK17a Unlocked Android Smartphone with 5MP camera, Touchscree

Sony Ericsson SK17A-WH Xperia Mini Pro SK17a Unlocked Android Smartphone with 5MP camera, Touchscreen and Slide-Out QWERTY Keyboard - Unlocked Phone - US Warranty - WhiteI recently purchase a white version of the Mini Pro for a friend and got around to playing with it. All I got to say is that I'm amazed with the amount of feature and build quality that this phone has; which has got me jealous and I just order one.

I'm just gonna touch on a few key features. Specs can be founded online.

3" HVGA capacitive touchscreen highly responsive and clear pictures showing vivid colors. Granted the screen is small but everything comes out in great detail. Best of all, the screen is glass. That's right; it's not plastic but the 3" screen is glass.

Sliding Keyboard slide open and closed smoothly and firmly. No flimsy construction here. The keys are space out nicely for your thumbs to type away.

Battery life This point is kinda useless since everyone has different usage. My friend who makes a lot of calls and text a lot of people with very light use of the internet manage to get a little over a day. I'm guessing if you use the phone a lot for music, videos, web and so on, you might need to bring a charger with you.

5MP camera This phone has a front facing camera and well as the rear. Both produces sharp, clean image. Not that great in low light, even with flash. Flash only on the back of phone.

Construction The build quality is great. This phone is a little heavy (a little heavier than lets say an iPhone)but it has a nice solid feel. The heaviness is expected from a sliding keyboard phone. The body is made out of plastic but the screen is glass. The Mini Pro is small so it may be easy to lose.

The interface is nice. You have four corners to throw your stuff in along with the desktop to throw more apps on. This is Sony's own interface. All of it is running on Android 2.3.3. No lag at all thanks to 512MB Ram it has on board and the snappy 1 GHz processor. It has enough storage space for all your apps, 400MB to be precise, but less than that due to the other apps and system files on the phone.

One last note, the battery cover is hard to take off. I had to use a little force to get it off. I'm not held responsible if you damage your phone.

Update 6/7/2012

I just updated the OS on this phone to ICS 4.0.4 and I have to say, this new OS brings new life to this phone. It's faster and more responsive. If you haven't updated, you should do so now.

I have had a Sony cell phone for years and have been very happy with it, but lately it started losing power and just not working well. i travel a lot and often switch SIM cards so i wanted an unlocked phone. i looked at gazillion different options but finally settled on this one (xperia mini pro SK17A) and it is wonderful. i was instantly able to insert my SIM and hook into the service provider (tmobile in the US) i didn't have to sign up for a 2 year(slavery)plan and no need for the expensive data plan as it works just fine on WIFI. It is easy to use and small enough to fit nicely in one hand, an issue for me as i found most phones to be too big and clunky. i also like to have the option of a full keyboard as touch screen texting can be very annoying, but both work really well on this phone. the only very minor drawback is that the battery drains quickly and it has to be charged every day, but that is generally how all smart phones are, i.e. mini computers so they use more power.

I bought this phone, the black model, direct from Amazon for about $270 and have been getting used to it the past several weeks. It's my first Android smart phone, so I'm having to learn both the new handset and a new OS, after having used E-Series Nokia phones for many years.

One of the things that drew me to this model was its hardware keyboard (in addition to the on-screen ones it offers in both portrait and landscape modes). With the Nokia E-Series Symbian models being discontinued, there aren't a great number of quality, high performing smartphone choices with hardware keyboards. But after doing a lot of research, I settled on this one, and thus far am glad I did.

I'm a tall guy with large hands and long fingers, but the keyboard on the MiniPro works fine for me. The keys have a firm click-type (non-audible) touch and are nicely spaced and tactile. The slide out mechanism as others have noted is solid and firm, no jiggering or bending when the keyboard is extended.

I too found the build quality to be quite good, notwithstanding the plastic case materials. Despite reading the comments in prior reviews here, I had no trouble snapping off the back of the phone to access the battery and SD card and SIM card slots. On my model at least, the back snaps on and off securely, but easily. I was never worried I was going to break anything trying.

When closed, the size of the phone is surprisingly small in terms of height and width, but it is a bit chubbier than non-hardware-keyboard phones as you'd expect. But it feels good in the hand, is easy to hold and handle and doesn't feel slippery. That said, it easily fits inside a man's shirt or pants pocket.

Even though it's not a dual core processor, the response of the phone is swift and smooth, no lagging or stuttering. The screen image quality is quite good, though at about 3 inches, you wouldn't want it any smaller. But I have ready access to desktop and laptop PCs most of the time, so I wasn't looking to carry around a large screen in my pocket.

I do have a couple of gripes about the phone, though.

--One is the design of the small plastic cover of the micro USB slot that's used for data connections and charging the phone. It's a small plastic piece that you have to pry open with your fingernail and pivot out from its resting place. Then once open, the little plastic piece just hangs loosely and dangling there attached by a very tiny connector. A sliding cover or some other approach would have been much better for an otherwise elegant phone. The way the little cover hangs there annoyingly, I almost want to cut it off and just leave the micro USB port uncovered.

--Another is when I set up the phone, I followed the very minimal paperwork included in the box, and used common sense based on my familiarity with computers and smartphones. But when I tried to use the main camera on the phone, the images were all blurry, even after I cleaned the exterior lens surface with a soft camera lens cleaning cloth. So I ended up taking the phone into a Sony shop to have them take a look at that problem. And to my surprise, they said there had been a small (I assume protective) plastic film sheet covering the main camera lens. I swear, I never saw it, and didn't see any info about it on the phone's setup info. But once removed, the camera takes very nice photos for a 5 mp snapper with auto focus.

Other misc things, the sound quality and loudness on calls and playing music etc. I found quite good. I liked the feature in the camera whereby you can focus and take a phone just by tapping anywhere on the view screen (apart from also having a physical camera shutter key). Also the accelerometer that automatically shifts the phone's display between portrait and landscape works smoothly and quickly.

Add in full access to the Android Market, good video recording, FM radio included, a 2 GB memory card included, the included Flash video playing capability, WiFi N, and stereo Bluetooth, and Sony has packed a lot of powerful capabilities into this small package.

It's not the slimmest or most elegant or highest specced Android smartphone on the market, but it's a great phone at a great price, especially if you're buying it out of your own pocket and not on a carrier contract discount, that pretty much can do anything you want to do for business/work or for personal entertainment.

PS Just as a quick follow-up, now Jan. 2013 and this phone is still going strong and performing well. Just last month got the Ice Cream Sandwich OS via download, and it seems to work OK with that, at least for me. Everything I said above in my original review I still hold to.

One thing I managed to solve was the dangling micro-USB slot cover issue. Following another user's suggestion I read on one of the Sony forums, I took an Xacto knife and cut/shaved off a tiny portion of the interior part of the cover (the part that fits into the micro USB slot cover). I DIDN'T cut off the dangling cover itself. But after trimming the inside tab a bit, the cover now can be inserted and removed with my fingernail much easier, and no longer drives me crazy as it did when I first got the phone. Sony, unfortunately, just made the original cover fit a bit too snugly. But that's something any user can easily remedy.

Lastly, having used the phone for more than a year now, I want to comment also on what a good camera it has for just a 5 MP model. As anyone familiar with such things knows, it's not automatically the case that a higher number of megapixels is going to mean better quality images. There are lots of mobile phones out there with 8+ MP camera, but read the reviews, and you'll see many, many produce noisy, artifacted, oddly shaded photos. After having had a year to compare my mobile phone's photos with those of friends and family members using other smart phones, I'd certainly say the MiniPro's photos are among the best quality that I've seen.

I have been saved from making a bad purchase by many honest reviewers on Amazon.com So I decided to give back by taking time out of my day to help other buyers like myself make an informed decision when purchasing an item.

Here is my humble opinion from a on the go traveler as to why this is the phone for you.(note I own both an Iphone 4s, an Ipad 2, a Asus Transformer Prime and a Sony Ericsson X10 Min pro, motorola atrix and the motorola flipout).

1. It's A Quad Band Unlocked GSM Smartphone. Apple has a larger selection of apps and generally better quality apps, Apple apps are generally more intuitive and easy to use, apple apps even look better BUT with this android phone You don't have to risk 600 USD to jail-break this phone when you travel overseas. With the Sony Ericsson X10 mini pro all you do is pop in the sim and Viola...you are ready to use your phone in Asia, Europe, South America etc.. This is one factor that makes it a great travel phone. But not all android phones are created equal! Motorola Atrix and flip out both require you to log into MOTOBLUR when you install a new sim and when you turn your phone on. This added step to use my phone was so annoying. But with sony ericsson mini pro you just turn the phone on and your good to go.

2. A long lasting battery with a Quick Recharge time! compared to atrix, iphone 4s, and flip out. Im not a tech guru and this is just my observation of this phone with the same amount of apps with the same usage for all 4 phones. The atrix and flip out are horrible had to recharge 2-3 times per day kinda defeated the purpose of having a cell phone. The iphone 4s was better 1-sometimes 2 times per day. Sony Ericsson Mini pro 1 time every 2 days. The charge time is very quick too!

3. Can Transform into an Ultra Space Saving Workstation, Gaming/Media Center. Most Hotels that I stay at in third world countries have video in and out but no HDMI connection. If you buy a SonyEricsson IM700 TV-Out AV Cable you can turn any hotel tv into a monitor next you will need a Sony Ericsson DK10 LiveDock Multimedia Station for Xperia active, Xperia arc, Xperia arc S, Xperia neo, Xperia ray and Other Smartphones Retail Packaging White then all you have to do is hook up your keyboard and mouse and you have a mobile computer.

Total cost: $12 RCA Cable + $45 livedock = $57 and everyone should have a keyboard and mouse so that is no extra cost.

4. Physical Keyboard (This is just personal preference) I hate using the fake keyboard on the touchscreen I do not swipe and hand written notes on a phone is even worse for me. I need the tactile feeling of the keys that I use along with the light up keyboard to type and text with. In this case old school is better for me.

5. Very Durable I am clumsy and I drop my phone often(thus the long list of phones that I have tested) I have dropped my sony ericsson several times with no case from 3 feet and it still works like a charm. But when I accidentally dropped my Iphone 4s from 1 foot the screen shattered. I have since bought a lifeproof case to protect my already expensive iphone so really the basic cost of an iphone is 660-700 dollars for just the hardware, which brings me to my next point.

6. Anti-theft deterrent phone (well kinda).. Thieves target and steal expensive and popular electrons to make money it makes sense because in my travels I have seen many stolen iphones on the black market. At 660 dollars! Getting your Iphone stolen is not only a. more likely to happen but b. will really hurt your wallet. With the sony ericsson xperia mimi pro at 200ish your phone will be less of a target by thieves and if it does get stolen or misplaced you will not feel the sting as much as you would if you lost a jailbroken iphone at 660.

7. Propriety Software. Timescape is the bomb! It is a one stop app that list all of your calls, facebook, twitter, text, messages all in a stupid simple interface that is easy to use.

CONS: Reasons not to buy this phone !

1. Don't buy this phone if you have poor eyesight! Small Screen Size but Small phone. The phone is pretty small easy to carry and when you travel space is important. But the drawback is the small screen it is not bad enough to make the phone unusable but it is bad enough to make it annoying especially when you just switch from an iphone 4s and atrix to this small screen. But once you get use to it it is not bad.

2. Not Fashionable. If your goal is to rock out at the club and look good while making a phone call get the iphone or another phone but this is not the phone for you! This phone is fugly it looks like it was stuck in the 90's but then again I cared more for function not fashion to each their own.

3. Want The Best Apps. If you want the highest quality apps that look good then go with apple hands down! Android apps aren't bad but they are not the best but they do seem to have more variety of apps just of lesser quality when compared to apple.

4. Want the Easiest smartphone to use. Apple apps are easier to use but android seems to have a lot more customization options. But if we are talking about strictly ease of use apple wins hands down. Even buying apps for android is a pain at times. You have apps on google play, amazon, sony play and more...as a buyer or developer who wants to go to search through 3 different store to buy an app? But I guess you pay for variety!

5. Will lose in a pissing match. If you want to brag about the processor or the best screen resolution etc..etc.. this phone will lose as all phones will in 6 months since new phones are always coming out! This phone does not have the very very best camera or the very best screen resolution.. If the very best of the best is important to you this is not the phone for you.

In the end I choose this phone to travel and save money. I dont have to buy 2 phones one for home and one for my travels abroad. I dont have to buy the phone twice because it is very durable. And when it gets outdated I can get more milage out of it by repackaging the phone as a mini computer or web tv device or just give it away to a person who needs it in a third world country. I hope that after reading my review you can make a informed decision if the sony ericsson xperia mini pro phone is ment for you as it was for me. Thank you for taking the time to read my review and please rate it up if it helped you.

This small device works surprisingly well for typing large amounts of text, though its touch screen, gaming and browsing capabilities are somewhat limited due to its small size. It gets the job done, however, as more of a utility/text/information lookup device than a multimedia device.

The device runs a pretty standard Android 2.3 OS with the addition of four multi-widget slots in the corners of the screen. If you're used to Android devices, you'll immediately be familiar with the basic application-with-desktop-widgets model.

With the keyboard stowed, the device feels thick, maybe 1.5x thicker than an iPhone 4. The bottom edges are rounded and smooth and with its thickness, the phone can feel like a slippery bar of soap. With the tray stowed, the device can easily be navigated one handed using the thumb because of the small size of the screen.

The keyboard pulls out with a satisfying but smooth slide and the device powers up from standby with a short, but bearable delay. The device feels solid, even with the keyboard out. The device is much easier to hold with the keyboard out as it feels much thinner. The keys are separated enough and responsive enough to make even, say, writing an essay on the device pleasurable. I found that I could type almost at the speed of thought with almost no errors. The backlit keyboard seems a little bit flaky though with the lights blinking on and off seemingly at random making the keys a little hard to read in the wrong light conditions.

The screen is clear and bright, though the touch screen capabilities are a little lacking. Even pulling out the Android's top status bar is a chore because it's much too easy to mis-press. You'll often find your device doing random things, because of an errant touch screen press, though the Android's back button makes it easy to get back to where you were. I found myself navigating a lot using the arrow keys as it simply seemed less error prone.

Call quality is OK and the ergonomics of the device as a phone are lacking (because of the width the height ratio and the thickness.) The ergonomics of the USB charging cover are horrendous as there's no good way to pry the thing open -the slot for your fingernail isn't deep enough and doesn't provide any purchase, so you're left scratching at it until you get lucky. The power on button is a little bit small and requires a good push to activate -luckily, you can just slide the keyboard try out to turn it on.

Overall, not a bad little, with emphasis on little, device. It seems best suited for text based activities such as taking notes, texting, e-reading or reading graphic light web pages. I wouldn't recommend it for heavy game players or media consumers, but would recommend it for someone looking for something small and different.

This is one of several zen devices that I have purchased. I have to say that this product is far worse than it's previous incarnations. The player takes far longer to open it's music library, and practically hangs when opening a playlist. The on switch / lock has been removed, and replaced by the play button / a lock option in the menu. I dislike not having a dedicated on switch, and it's downright inconvenient to have a digital lock rather than an manual one. I have also had ordering problems with mp3s I've put on the player this is not usually a problem with music, but a big one with audio books.I recommend steering clear of this model and waiting till it's changed, or looking at a different manufacturer.

I replaced this product and it seems like this creative zen doesn't work as well with holding its place with audio books as my previous product. It also has to be refreshed more. However, I do like the longer battery life and more storage.

RCA RP5600 SmartSnooze Dual Wake Digital AM/FM CD Clock Radio

RCA RP5600 SmartSnooze Dual Wake Digital AM/FM CD Clock Radio
  • Wake to Radio, CD or Alarm - This feature gives the user the choice of waking up to the alarm, a favorite radio station, or any track of a favorite CDTop Load CD - This unit has a top load CD door system for
  • Nap Function - Allows the user to set a quick alarm for a short interval of sleep without disturbing the alarm settings
  • Programmable Snooze - Turns off the alarm or radio for an extra 9 minutes of sleep or can be programmed for 1-30 minutes; you can snooze up to 2 hours
  • Dual Wake- Individual wake time indicators allow for two different alarm settings for two different users.
  • Digital AM/FM CD Clock Radio with Backlit LCD Display - This AM/FM CD clock radio has a 0.9" blue LCD display for easy readability

I just bought this alarm, so I will be updating on it's functionality soon, but here are my initial thoughts:

FEATURES This alarm has a decent amount of features for the price. One of the complaints I read in other reviews is that you cannot choose the CD track on the alarm function, it would just wake to the first track of the CD. This alarm allows you to set the track, wake to the radio, or to a buzzer. It also has two wake settings, adjustable "snooze/nap" time and gradual wake alarm (starts soft and increases over 30 seconds). It also has "sleep" mode which allows you to listen to the radio or CD with an automatic off so that you can still wake to the alarm in the morning. It has a back-up battery which allows it to run off the battery in the event of a power failure. The display has a bright (which is blue and clear enough to read from a distance) and dim (which is nice and muted and doesn't light the whole room). It was more compact in size than the Sony model that had similar features (and a bit cheaper too).

**Now one of the main complaints on this model is sound. I think people have an unrealistic idea of what a $25 cd alarm sound should sound like. For a cheap cd alarm radio, the sound is actually pretty good. The radio reception is good, and yes you can hear the CD spinning especially during track change, but let's face it... You are not spending the $100+ that great sound systems like BOSE cost. If you are looking for exceptional sound quality you are going to need to fork out the extra money to buy a higher end model. Even RCA makes a higher end model that I'm sure has improved quality of sound.**

My only wish on this alarm is that it have the smart-set technology which automatically sets your alarm after it has been unplugged or loses power. Other than that, this is a great alarm for the money!

Buy RCA RP5600 SmartSnooze Dual Wake Digital AM/FM CD Clock Radio Now

Okay, one would think that the CD spinning up would not be louder than the music, but it is loud enough to wake me before the music comes on. The unit has a cylinder in the CD cover which sits on the CD to hold it down, and this rotates in a plastic housing, making an amazingly loud plastic on plastic scraping sound. But wait, it gets worse! The CD continues to spin during the snooze period, so you don't hear music, just scraping plastic. And when you look at the display to see how much more snooze (/being annoyed) time you have left, the display is showing the track number, not the time. The thing is a CLOCK radio, it should ALWAYS show the time, especially when you're debating whether to get up now or wait another minute.

I received this for Christmas, I'm going to exchange it.

Other notes: The dim setting of the display is still way too bright. You can wake up to any track of the CD, but it would be nice if the thing could pick one at random each morning.

What I'd really love is a clock with a BUILT-IN mp3 player -no moving parts except the switches...

Two years ago my wife got me one of these for my birthday and I was skeptical. I wanted a clock radio that would play cd's and had even purchased and returned a Sony Dream Machine (Sony you should be ashamed of yourself...it didn't even have a battery backup). After having looked around for quite awhile I sort of gave up and decided to just keep my old radio/tape player alarm even though it didn't have a cd player. I was looking for something with a small enough footprint to fit on my nightstand, something that was easy to use and sounded good. It didn't take me too long to realize my wife succeeded where I had failed. She was pretty happy with her purchase, because after hearing from me about all the things I was looking for, she knew this was going to be a winner. To put it briefly the RCA RP5600 has everything a radio/cd alarm clock should and nothing it shouldn't. If you've spent anytime at all looking around at clock radios with or without cd players, you'll especially appreciate the RP5600. All the switches for setting the clock, setting the alarms, turning the radio on/off, turning the cd on/off, changing cd tracks...etc. are all simple to use, totally intuitive and LARGE. It never ceases to amaze me when well known manufacturers of electronic equipment continue to use those tiny, tiny, minuscule one-switch-does-all control buttons with the indistinguishable detents. The RP5600 has ONE SWITCH FOR EACH FUNCTION...which means no more fumbling in the dark while you're half awake trying to figure out if your alarm is set or not or if you're going to wake to your favorite cd or the alarm or if its even going to go off. Also, one glance at the display will clearly tell you what all your settings are. The sound is much better than I expected and it plays commercially prerecorded as well as recorded cd's. It wouldn't have crossed my mind to write this review, but recently my college bound daughter realized she needed an alarm clock as she headed out the door. You can probably guess who needed to get a duplicate.

I've only owned it for a few days, but it's working out really nice on my desk at work. It's very compact, takes up very little space, but has a really nice sound from the radio and cd player. Nothing fancy, no bass boost or equalizer etc, but those features aren't really needed, after all this is not a high end product. However, I'm pleasantly surprised and very pleased with the quality of sound. Not to mention the value, I got mine at WalMart for $, usually things cost less at Amazon.com but not this time. Shop around and you can probably find a better buy than the current listing of $ here at Amazon.com on . If my current Sony that I have in the bedroom ever goes out, it will be replaced by this RCA Clock Radio CD Player, it's such a value with great sound and takes up very little space. Great value.

Well I searched high and low for a CD Clock Radio for my wifes

birthday. After looking everywhere, and all over Amazon, this was

the unit I decided on. It really is a great clock radio and she

loves it.

As far as the squeaky/scratch noise others here have mentioned

in their reviews, heres the thing, it only make that horrible noise if

you turn on the CD player WITHOUT a disk in it. Once a disc is

put in it is very quiet. As quiet as any other CD player.

The display is large, bright, and a really cool shade of blue. It also

has a dim setting for the display if it is too bright for you. The dual

alarm setting is really great especially for couples who get up at

different times.

The unit feels nice and solid. It does not feel like cheap junk. This

is definitely a PLUS. When I bought this I was under the impression

that the FM tuner was digital. It IS NOT! It is a little dial on the side,

toward the back.

This brings me to the only drawback to this machine. THE QUALITY

OF THE FM TUNER IS HORRIBLE! I can NOT get ANY stations in

clearly on the radio at all. There is a horrible buzz over all the stations.

I don't know what they were thinking when they made the radio part

of the clock radio. Luckily for me, my wife did not want this for the

radio part of it. She wanted it for the CD part and the alarm part.

All in all this is a GREAT CD clock radio and I recommend it to anyone

who is looking for a CD Clock Radio. Just remember that the radio in

it is useless.

Bluetooth Adaptor for iPhone/iPad Docks

Bluetooth Adaptor for iPhone/iPad DocksWith Apple's move to the Lightning connector, and my purchase of an iPad Mini, I obtained the iLive wireless Bluetooth receiver/adapter to stream music from my venerable but still functional Cambridge SoundWorks 765i with iPod Dock. The dock had the 30-pin connector that was otherwise useless with Lightning. The iLive adapter fit easily and connected in less that 10 seconds with my iPad, with excellent sound quality within the promised radius. Cost less than $20. I also purchased a Bose Soundlink II for extra portability but at an astounding $299. (I don't know what I was thinking.) I'm able to use my older Apple devices with both the iLive and Bose connections but rely primarily on the iLive. An excellent device at a very reasonable cost.

KA600 SILVER Solar/Crank AM/FM/SW NOAA Weather Radio, BONUS AC adapter/charger, 5-LED reading lamp, 3-LED flashlight, thermometer & humidity meter
  • AM/FM, Longwave, Shortwave & NOAA weather radio with back-lit digital display.
  • 5-way powered: AC/DC adapter, AA batteries, PC via USB port, Hand crank & Solar panel
  • NOAA all hazards alert, Calendar, alarm clock with dual settings & sleep timer
  • 4 tuning methods including manual, direct digit entry, ATS & memory tuning
  • 180-degree adjustable solar panel with 5-LED reading lamp, 3-LED flashlight, Thermometer & humidity meter

I bought 5 of these for Christmas presents. It's a great product and is working well. We live in a storm prone area with fast moving weather so I like the alert feature. The ONLY thing I would say in the negative is the directions are somewhat vauge when trying to figure out how all the functions work. I accidently locked it and thought for a couple of days the radio had gone bad and I was going to have to send it back but finally figured out how to unlock and all was well. Make sure and get the ac adapter, it will make life easier for you and save on radio wear with the batteries.

Looks and sounds great, and the build quality is very good. Has a bunch of options for tuning your sound. The built in low pass filter and subwoofer controls are great. I have this powering the Pioneer TS-A6872R 6-Inch X 8-Inch 3-Way 240-Watt Speakers (Pair) and it sounds great. The FM reception is extremely good. The only reason I give this 4 stars is due to the fact that the clock will not display unless you push a button. If you take any other action you must push the same button in order to make the clock display. There should at least be the option to have the clock be the default display.

UPDATE: I'm now using a JVC KTHDPK1 / KT-HDPK1 / KT-HDPK1 Transportable HD Radio Receiver with Car Kit with this head unit and it sounds like the band is in my car. Also using a JVC KS-AX3002 Compact 2-Channel Power Amplifier with 370 Watts Max. Power Output (Black) to drive the the Pioneers I mentioned above.

UPDATE 2: There is now a newer version called the CZ101, might want to check that one out too

I've had this head unit for about a week and a half so far in a '93 Honda Civic CX. Hooked to it, I have a pair of 5 1/4 Pioneer TS-G1343R speakers. I am very impressed with the combo and the sound coming from my speakers. This head unit adds an extra something to the sound that seems to be missing in other budget head units. Something that makes me want to keep listening to the music, instead of just turning it off. I suppose that can be good and bad, since I have to move on with my life. Honestly, this head unit is a bit ritzier that what I need, and has blue illumination that is very fancy. Some of the buttons are a little hard to press and will need a bit of wearing in. The navigation is not completely intuitive, but close enough. The EQing options are quite impressive, giving you the ability to tweak the frequency and Q of the bass and midrange, and just the frequency for the treble. If you are getting older and you have lost your ability to hear around 15 kHz (the highs cease to sound crisp to you anymore, but rather they sound tinny), no problem. Just turn the treble frequency down to something in the 12 kHz range, or even lower. If you know how to use a detailed EQ, it can really work to your advantage.

You get 18 watts RMS per channel, which isn't bad, but Clarion certainly has head units that are much higher if you shell out the $$$. You get 4 RCA outputs, which rivals most head unit's 2 outputs. If you have a car with steering wheel audio controls, there is a connection in the back of this head unit for that, which is uncommon for head units that are this cheap.

The radio sounds great on many channels, and this head unit seems to really reveal the bad EQing and poor signal quality on certain FM radio stations. Whereas, on my old Pioneer most channels sounded pretty good, on this head unit, certain channels sound awful and other sound excellent. But one major drawback is that this tuner does not pull in the channels as well as many other similarly priced tuners. Even though it can sound good, it just doesn't pull in channels like my old Pioneer. It occasionally skips pretty strong channels, and I have to rescan to find them, and it is not uncommon to have the signal go in and out when driving under trees and through certain areas. So if you need stellar, perfect signals that don't go in and out once in a while, you might look at some other head units, or even some higher level Clarion's. I've never had a problem with the tuner in Pioneer's though, as they've really gotten it down to a science. However, I have never had any problems with AM reception on this head unit. AM signals come in perfectly fine, and maybe better than my old Pioneer.

The fit and finish of this head unit is pretty good, but I'll have to see how it holds up over time. I had a Pioneer DEH-P6400 head unit that I paid $300 for back in the day, and it was wonderfully built and only started having problems ejecting cds after about 7 years (but you could still get them out with a little work). I don't really feel like I've downgraded too much with this Clarion, although I don't think it's going to be as fit and finish as my old Pioneer. But for the price, this head unit is great so far. And it sounds a little better than my old Pioneer. Can't put my finger on why.

La Crosse Technology WS-8117U-IT-OAK Atomic Wall Clock with Outdoor Temperature

La Crosse Technology WS-8117U-IT-OAK Atomic Wall Clock with Outdoor TemperatureThe clock doesn't synchronize the time due to its defective outside temperature remote. I called the manufacturer, LaCrosse Technology, and I was told that a defective remote will prevent the clock to function via radio. I find it very annoying that the company does not refund shipping charges on defective items. They charged me $7.40 for shipping me the clock and I had to pay $8.20 for UPS Ground for sending the clock back. The total shipping was $15.60 which is 43% of the price of the clock ($36). Their shipping policy also discourages anyone from getting a replacement for a defective item, because if something goes wrong again, you may exceed the price of the purchased item just in shipping charges.

Outdoor temp does not stay displayed for more than 30 minutes. Remote only 20 feet from clock. Tried resetting many times moving remote to different locations with no results to problem. Not reccommended.

This clock performed just as advertised right out of the box. No glitches-no problems getting it going or making contact with Colorado for the automatic setting. I put the batteries in as instructed, hung it on the wall and the next morning the time was all set. It has been running fine now for several weeks.

I was so frustrated because every clock in my house said a differesnt time. My husband always set his watch by WWV. He's gone. What do I do? Aha! An Atomic Clock will be just "the ticket". I searched and searched. Stores! Go to Google you dimwit! Yahoo! There it was. A beautiful wood clock that gave me the perfect time. And it was fairly simple (for someone who is "electronically challenged") to set up. Now I am a "Happy Camper." Thank You !
