Apple iPod nano 8 GB Blue (6th Generation) OLD MODEL

Apple iPod nano 8 GB Blue OLD MODEL
  • 8 GB capacity for about 2,000 songs
  • Up to 24 hours of audio playback on a single charge
  • 1.54-inch (diagonal) color TFT display with 240-by-240-pixel resolution (220 pixels per inch)
  • Support for AAC, Protected AAC (iTunes Store), MP3, MP3 VBR, Audible, Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV audio formats
  • One-year limited warranty

I have owned several iPods and I phones. I recently purchased a previous model nano because I missed the feel of the click wheel on my original iPod. Unfortunately, that nano went missing and so I had to decide whether to buy another previous model click wheel nano, or embrace the new touch model. I took the plunge and fully expected to return this new model. But then I opened it and the controls just work. The new touch menu system is faster than the old wheel. It's size is unreal. The square screen is perfect for album art. Yes, it did loose some features but I was ok with that because the video camera and microphone was always poor quality. It also doesn't play videos, but seriously, with the small screen, video has always been useless on the Nano. If you don't like the trade offs then look elsewhere. But if you want an an incredibly small and intuitive audio player, this is it. I think this is really what the iPod Nano should be.

I bought a new Nano after repeatedly trying the Sansa Clip and having it fail due to hardware reasons. My primary use case for an MP3 player is as a device to play audiobooks that I've ripped from CDs. The new Nano is pretty terrible at doing this. The major issue is that putting the Nano into "deep sleep" loses track of what the last track you played was. This is unacceptable when I'm listening to an audiobook that can have hundreds of individual tracks. The only real remedy (besides trying to go back through the entire book and remember what track you're on) is to plug the device back into iTunes and look at the "Play Count". This effectively tethers the device to a PC every time I want to turn it back on after not using it for more than about a day.

In terms of other aspects of the device, it seems well built and is nice and small. However, the lack of being able to do things like pause without using the touch screen is very annoying.

Overall, I find the device significantly less functional than my older generation Nano and wish that it was still possible to purchase one of those ones.

I bought this to replace a 2nd generation nano. I use the nano with the nike+ system and am not impressed with the newest model. The size itself is nice but the touch screen leaves much to be desired. I couldn't always get the screen to turn on when running and it now takes extra time and steps to skip a song compared to the older generations. The clip often slips on the tech shirts I wear and found the best way to wear it was up by my neck. To make any adjustments I would have to stop running, unclip it and look at the screen. I also found the battery life only lasted a few days compared to the weeks I could get from my previous nano. I ended up returning the 6th generation and buying a 5th generation with click wheel.

is a pity that the best idea for athletes, is a fraud.

The 6th Generation iPod Nano may seem just what you were looking for, and can give you satisfaction ... but do not expect more than a year of satisfaction.

This ipod has a problem not solved by apple people is that after the warranty expires and not before, the iPod stops playing the songs.

Just stop without a why.

It is a pity and a shame that even the software update can't solve the problems of the iPod.

That is, the iPod is irreparably damaged when you warranty expires and you can not do anything, this model simply beyond repair.

If I were you: I would not buy, and wait for apple releases a new version.

The seller was greatI just HATE this product. I'm training for a marathon and the battery never lasts AND I've had it replaced by apple twice already.

I don't know if it's the humidity of Minnesota or if I sweat too much, but I really regret purchasing this product. If I could do things over, I would have bought a used 4th or 5th generation.

Samsung Verizon DROID CHARGE SCH-i510 Desktop Dock

Samsung Verizon DROID CHARGE SCH-i510 Desktop DockWhat this does is stands your phone up as shown and opens the Desk Dock app. The app is lacking features and cannot be customized which sucks. However, you can just close the app to use the programs you want. It also overrides your home button to return to the dock app. The app doesn't do much but what it does great is darkens the phone on night mode and will start a screen saver of just the clock after a few minutes. It is easily readable and thanks to AMOLED screen does not throw anymore light than a standard alarm clock. I like to sleep in pitch black and it doesn't bother me.

As far as features it hides an extra battery charging enclosure behind the phone (No extra battery included). It has a speaker out in the rear. It also has two volume control buttons in the front. That is all the dock does. It should include more for the price but I am happy with what it does do.

The phone will not fit in the dock with a case on.

Edit: Upon getting an extra battery I learned there is a charging indicator light for the spare battery on the front of the dock next to the volume control.

Yes, it included the spare battery (standard). If you click on the link '... new from ...' which is in below the price, you can see the same dock sold by Amazon directly. Its price is a little more expensive ($37.49, shipping is free if you're prime member), but it includes the extra battery which itself costs about $20!

One thing I'm not sure is whether the dock can charge extended battery (2600mah) as well.

This is a nice looking, sleek Samsung dock for your Droid Charge.

However, there are some things to note about this "Multimedia Desktop Dock". I would actually call it more of a "Charging Station", because that pretty much sums it up. The dock has a speaker output in back and once docked the Charge will automatically start the Desk Cradle App. But some basic clock/radio type functions I expected are not there: such as being able to listen to internet radio/pandora/whatever through the Charge while docked. You can listen to stored MP3s easy enough, but it looks like it stops there. Fixing that may be as simple as finding a better app... I haven't figured that out yet.

The biggest issue is the dock design. The phone will only seat on the dock if it is naked, ie you can't have a cover on the phone. I have a thin cover, but there simply isn't enough room for the cover and the dock does not adjust. I went so far as to disassemble my dock and remove the plastic seat piece, but the phone still does not seat far enough down to kick on the Cradle App. I'm going to keep working with it. Removing the cover every night to dock my phone is not an acceptable solution for me.

So in short, if you don't use a cover and intend to use the dock mainly as a charger, this should be a good buy.

If you use a cover or want a richer mulitmedia dock, look elsewhere or be willing to experiment and possibly mod this dock.

I don't want to reiterate what others have said as to the cons of this dock they are all true. It does look good and fits the Charge nicely as long as you don't mind taking off the protector that is required for the belt holster every time you want to use the dock. I like that it came with a spare battery (I bought it from Verizon at a discount online). Why they didn't allow for a USB connection is beyond me. To copy any files from my PC to the phone I have to remove it from the dock and plug in the USB cable. As someone else said REALLY DUMB. Access the the HDMI port would have been nice, too. But no. So how can they call it a true multimedia device when it just has a tiny little mini-plug I/O?

My biggest complaint is that when the phone is sitting in this dock it seems to open and close apps at random, sometimes even rebooting the phone for no apparent reason. The amount of activity (screens opening and closing, display turning on and off) is sometimes astounding. I bought a new car with SYNC voice command via the cellphone's Bluetooth connection and could not get the phone to maintain Bluetooth pairing with the car's SYNC UNTIL I stopped using the dock overnight. Some weird things go on with the phone when docked that do not happen when it's just plugged into the AC adapter provided by Samsung. I haven't had the time to document them, it is just an observation sitting at my desk while the phone is in the dock. It is messing with the Bluetooth settings of the phone to the point that the phone can't seem to remember the car connection. I don't want to have to re-pair the phone with my car every single day so I've had to give up the otherwise neat little desk clock app the dock triggers. No biggy, but disappointing since the dock I had for my Motorola Droid was very functional and did nothing like this one does. So now I have a docking cradle that is only good for charging the spare battery. I guess it might just be my next EBay sale...

(So sorry. I'll make it up to you by formatting this review in the time-honored pro/con tradition, despite the fact that such dichotomies do a poor job of capturing the nuances of human experience.)

Pro! I bought this dock for the purpose of turning my phone into a bedside alarm clock. It works well to that end, especially once the docking app native to the Samsung Charge is replaced with a (simpler, dimmer, equally free) app from the Play Store (formerly Marketplace). I guess that places me squarely in the "native dock app is too bright" camp, and I'll fight to defend that point of view till death, or till bedtime, whichever comes first. By the way, many of the Play Store apps seem to be called "Night Clock."

Pro! Judging from the reviews of those brave scouts who bought blind and reported back, the dock should come with an extra battery. However, it would seem that some unscrupulous sellers deliver the dock unbatteried, and, presumably, do something unmentionable with the orphaned lithium involving the shady and lucrative power trade. When in doubt, buy directly from Amazon. I can attest that my Amazon-purchased unit did indeed come in original packaging and with extra battery. Woohoo! No need to spend an extra $5 for an extra battery.

Pro? It turns out that I didn't really need the extra battery anyway. The dock sits on my bedside table, which means that I charge the phone when I get home in the evening, and it so happened that for me, docking the phone was more convenient than turning it off, exchanging the batteries, and rebooting. Nor was it appealing to walk around with two batteries. To add insult to injury (or shortcoming to bothersomeness), the presumably-new battery that came with the dock has a significantly shorter usage time than the one that originally came with the phone hundreds of charges ago.

Con? The phone sits snugly in the dock, and it is clear to anyone with an advanced degree in biomedical engineering that phone+case won't fit; ditto for phone+extended battery. Neither is an issue for me, as my phone is unsheathed and unenhanced.

Con. It would have been nice, given said snugness, if the docking/undocking action had been less rickety. The micro-USB plug doesn't always line up with the micro-hole in the side of the phone, and instead bonks against the phone's edge for a couple of approaches before docking is achieved.

Con! The dock's footprint is unnecessarily large. Even if you want that extra battery and a slot to charge it in parallel with the phone, surely you could have fit the lot of them more compactly. Bedside real estate is scarce and precious for me. You might sleep on the endless savanna, in which case you should invite me over sometime; I'll bring an extra battery.

Khan! I have had neither occasion nor desire to plug speakers into the dock and use it as some kind of micro-stereo system. The phone's micro-speaker works just fine to rouse me from my slumber.

In the absence of other Samsung Charge docking alternatives, I'm glad this one exists. What else do you want me to do, tether my phone to a charging cord and lay it flat on my bedside table? What kind of Luddite do you take me for?

Supersonic SC-1963UM Detachable Panel Display with Remote Control

Supersonic SC-1963UM Detachable Panel Display with Remote Control
  • Detachable Front Panel
  • LCD Digital Color Display
  • PLL Electronic Tuning Stereo
  • AM/FM Radio, Supports CD/MP3/WMA
  • SD/MMC Card Slot, USB Input

For the price this system has a lot of really nice features. It's easy to use and puts out some decent sound.

The Good, Nice easy to read display.

Very intuitive controls.

Lots of nice features, especially the SD card, Aux, and USB inputs.

The fake alarm LED that starts flashing when you remove the faceplate is a nice touch also.

The bad, Buttons are a brilliant and lurid red color and can't be dimmed.

The SD and USB inputs have no randomization feature, so the order the files are in on the card is the order they'll play.

The USB input is on a cable from the back of the unit which is too short to reach the front. Later models have the USB on the faceplate but this model doesn't.

Also the box is LARGE. It barely squeezed in to the space I had available in my dash.

The Ugly, the front bezel is smaller than the flange on the metal mounting assembly, so there is a lip of metal sticking out around the edges when the unit is installed.

Edited to add that there IS a randomization feature, but it is not mentioned anywhere in the very limited documentation. The documentation on this unit falls into the ugly category, as it is only just sufficient to allow you to wire the unit without burning down your car. Anything else other than simply turning on the unit (including mounting and any feature other than Play-Stop) is NOT covered.

Overall a pretty decent car stereo for the price. Full-featured and easy to install.

Note: I have not tried the CD player.

Note: The backlights and screen glow bright red, which might be distracting depending on where the stereo is mounted.

Pros:

-Good sound with standard car speakers.

-Easy to install in your dashboard

-Better than the bargain VR3 stereos (the cheaper SD card stereo). The FM tuner on this one actually works, and the memory picks up MP3 tracks where you left off.

-Has most of the standard features you'd expect: fake alarm light, random mode, radio memory, etc.

Cons:

-Some of the buttons are inconvenient or mysterious. The track forward/back buttons are hard to hit, and there are two "stop" buttons but no "pause"?

-When playing MP3s from an SD card, the stereo cuts off the first half-second or so of the file. This isn't a huge issue, but is annoying for some songs.

-No instructions on how to insert/remove the faceplate (You have to hold it in the folded-down position and push it onto the little pins at the bottom of the unit). Took a few minutes to figure out the first time.

Paul PF254 Frank Projection Clock Radio

Paul PF254 Frank Projection Clock Radio
  • Cute Monkey Head Design- Classic Paul Frank
  • Alarm Clock Radio- Wake to Alarm or Radio
  • Time Projector- Projects Current Time on Wall or Ceiling
  • Battery Back Up
  • Dynamic Speaker

I eyed this for a *long* time before I finally bought the bullet and bought it. Mostly, I had a working alarm clock with different features, but also because a monkey head on an end stand didn't exactly go with my decor. My friends made fun of me because I talked about buying it so much that I went ahead and bought it, and I'm glad I did.

Other than being adorable, it has a projection clock, which isn't really all that obvious as in the picture if you aim it at the ceiling. The projection clock automatically comes on when the alarm goes off, and I can even read it on the ceiling without glasses. My only issue with the projection clock is that it is a completely separate clock, which could be a perk if you wanted to set that one slightly ahead to prevent yourself from running late without changing the real time that displays in his mouth.

Setting the alarm time, projection time, and mouth time are pretty standard. There's a dial to adjust the projection on the projector so it will read clear on where it's being projected. The snooze button is on the top of his head, so even my cat can hit it, but to actually stop the alarm from repeating there's a button near the setting buttons you have to push, which can be a bit annoying. The location of this should probably have been a bit more prominent. The button to turn the projection time on is nicely separated, so I can leave that on until bed and easily turn it off.

The radio works well and sounds great, but there's another quirk in the way you turn the beeping alarm on instead of the radio. You still set the slide to "Auto", but then you have to turn the radio volume all the way off. So there's no way of listening to the radio while falling asleep and wake up to beeping. The antenna that came with it is the regular flimsy one, which my cat immediately chewed off, but definitely helped with reception.

Overall, I love it. It's adorable, and I love the projection features!

It really was a "impulse buy" to add a chimp like clock to my office full of Stuffed Primates (long history). Quirky and functional, to perfect.

Now the time will not change time on the clock face, but the projection works fine.

Purchased this for my wifes 4s iphone. She loves listening to music. Shipping was fast and it was well packaged.I set it up right away but the phone did not connect with the docking station properly. The problem was the thick case.I tried it without the case and it worked perfectly. The case had high ridge at the base of it not allowing full contact. I removed the ridge in my shop and attached it to the 4s iphone and docked it with the Phillips Fidelio, Wow problem solved.Sounds great and is easy to use. Wife loves it.90 day warranty. Overall a good value.

REVO Heritage Multi-format Table Clock Radio with iPod Dock - Black

REVO Heritage Multi-format Table Clock Radio with iPod Dock - Black
  • Internet Radio requires broadband Internet and a router
  • High sensitivity DAB and DAB+ digital radio
  • Advanced internet radio with Wi-Fi and wired LAN connectivity
  • Easy access to over 11,000 internet radio stations
  • Wireless audio streaming from PC or MAC

A capable radio, music player and internet streaming device. User interface is acceptable, using a joystick to navigate, and one pushes on the joystick to select. This is a bit tricky as it is very easy to mis-select if you don't push exactly straight. Entering a long WPA code can be a challenge..Overall operation is good compared to other internet radios out there. Powering up and selecting "internet radio", the radio saw and connected to my work network and home network. Also will stream itune playlists, and multiple formats. One can manually enter a specific internet radio location, like RadioParadise, which is listed, but only the 128K version, one can manually enter the 192K location if desired.

This radio provides DAB, but was unable to find any stations in my area (Colorado).

FM radio performance is acceptable, but does not pull in weak stations well. An external antenna is NOT available. Ok, so most (non HD) FM stations are available by streaming, anyway.

In order to use the 'favorite locations' and other features on the internet radio user interface, one has to sign up at LAST.fm, a disadvantage. On the other hand there are five station presets that operate independently, so each stream mode, radio, internet, DAB, music server, etc, has 5 presets.

The ipod interface works well, and as an alarm clock, functions ok. Just remember if you want to wake up to RadioParadise, it takes a while to connect...

Operation in wired and wireless mode was stable and had no problem with dropouts, etc.

Only complaint is sound quality which is only fair. I believe it uses a 3" dia speaker, popular these days, and while the midrange and high frequencies are acceptable, but somewhat colored, the bass is limited and bass boost only muddies the sound. I have a number of radios from all vintages, the best sound quality award goes to the Tandberg TP43, an amazing radio but over 40years old!

The older Grundigs and Tandberg radios have sound quality that is simply unequaled by any recent radio I have heard. That is unfortunate, and in my mind, unacceptable given what is possible these days. Just don't get it.

Is it worth $400? Well... probably not. I like the overall style and operation a lot, but if the sound quality measured up, it really would be worth it. As is it is only acceptable.

I have listened to other self contained radios, both internet ready and not, from Roku, Tivoli, Boston Acoustics, Sangean, and others, and they all seem to use the same 3" speaker and sound pretty much the same to me. Until some manufacturer is driven to improve the sound quality, we're stuck with this. For now will be fine for a nighttable radio if you want high quality sound use a separate amp & speakers.

Downrated for value and sound quality.

Hi All,

I bought a Revo Heritage Radio G 1 a number of years ago direct from the store in the UK. 2 years in I had some difficultly with the display though every other aspect of the radio was stellar including the incredible sound quality, streaming capability, iphone docking just to name a few of it's many outstanding features. The problem I had with the display was not easily fixed and when Dan Sawyer of Modern Digital USA heard about my difficulty he offered me some of the best costumer service of my life. If you are planning to buy a Revo product do not go through the UK store /website buy it from Modern Digital USA you will receive (as I did) top notch advice and stellar costumer service.

We had a small (but adorable) red geneva sound dock in our high ceiling living room. It was fully capable of filling the room with good sound. It was ipod only (and radio). We replaced it with this sleek unit. We love that the Restio can play a CD or ipod ... our master ipod (5th generation) did not fit, but we were happy to upgrade to the newest generation. it will charge the iphone 4S as well. It fits nicely against the wall if you do not install the half moon addition to the base, and is still sturdy. The instructions say to put it together with two people, and that is best to protect the heavy part of the unit while you attach it to the base. Goes together quickly.

I am really happy with the unit, it solved all my problems. the sound is quite good for a single source unit. I was planning to get the wall mount, however the stand is very sturdy and i have decided not too.

Having come across the three preceding reviews, I feel obliged to correct the negative impression they leave. I bought one of the first Model CDs to be made, and it had a design problem. It didn't play all CDs and the drive mechanism was flaky. But it SOUNDED terrific high resolution and warm, balanced sound one of the best digital/analog converters I've ever heard.

I contacted the company immediately and learned that they were having problems with many units and that they were already in the process of fixing the design problem. They said that they could send a replacement immediately, but I opted to wait until they knew they had fixed the problem. At that time, they shipped me a new unit and allowed me to return the old one in the same packing materials.

It was a pain to wait for, but well worth it. This is a simple, "bare-bones" CD player that is perfectly matched to the Model One. The design problem was part hardware and part software, and it is completely fixed. What's amazing is how good the music sounds. If that's what you're looking for, you'd be foolish to ignore this CD player because of the other reviews. They are not wrong, but collectively they leave the wrong impression about this CD player. For the price, I doubt you can find any CD player that sounds this good.

I've recently purchased a tivoli model two, cd and subwoofer and I can honestly say that I am in love! This system is simple to use, has terrific sound quality and is BEAUTIFUL to look at. I must admit, having such great sound eminating from these tiny wooden boxes was a wonderful surprise, because what initial attracted me to them were their aesthetic wonder! The model two is definitely the centre piece and it's a real joy simply to turn it's dials and adjust it's knobsit speaks of quality and an age-old construction and is a far cry from how other units in general are builtsmooth, substantial and a real smooth feelyou jsut know that when you are looking for a station that this unit is really working to lock onto it and keep it there! As to the cd playerit fits in perfectly with the model 2 and if you can afford it by all means buy it! It is wonderfully minimal (as is the entire tivoli line) and dispenses with all the gidgets and gazmos found on just about every mini-system made today. It sucks your cd in (as a car cd player does) and produces a smooth wonderful sound. It's tiny remote (again fashioned after Henry Klosses remotes from teh past) All you really have to do is lift one of the units to feel how solidly built -their surprisingly heaviness screems out what great components they have (no cheap plastic parts here!). The subwoofer really adds a great soft punch to the musicI was really afraid about this part of the unit from what I've read from some reviewers online. Honestly, I've no idea what they were expecting. There is definitely a big difference once the bass unit is added! I'm now so in love I'm wanting to add a model three to my "collection"! A truly great investmentthese pieces will be with me for a very long timetheir timeless looks alone will see to that!

My Model CD started to have problems after one year of light use. Initially the display would lose segments and then would require a power-down to restore. This problem got worse with time. After less than 2 years of use, the dosplay has now failed completely and the player rejects all disks from any manufacturer. It was never a great sounding player, but having invested in several other Tivoli Audio components, I had no alternative but to live with their extremely expensive single disk unit. Obviously my unit is out of warranty and I am out of luck, but I would sure hope that this company (which is always boasting of it's audiophile roots) would help it's loyal customers out of this situation.

My wife and I had been looking for over a year for a simple sound system to install in our new dining room/library on a very narrow (8 inches deep) built-in shelf. None of the micro systems were small enough and most looked like they'd be at home in a sci-fi horror flick. Not only is this unit attractive but it's not much deeper than a CD. The controls are easy to use and with the remote we can control the unit from the dining table.

I am using it with a plug in mini plug to the pod on a Bose Computer Sound System. It works beautifully.(Thanks Amazon for the upgraded shipping.) This unit's heft shows heritage of design along the lines of expensive car deluxe CD players. Size is perfect and sits inconspicuously on my small bookcase. The fluorescent display is great,no way it could be improved. The player loads and plays the disk automatically.Slick. The remote is a coup d'etat of just the right size and easy to read symbols. Important, else you would be hard pressed to see and fumble for the function keys on the unit if you are not eagle eyed.(This is an industry design thing that aint never going to go way) Summary: I think Tivoli put their money and value in this one. And recommend it,even if you don't use it w the Tivoli radio. The 12 Volt option is one I may explore. That would mean getting a back seat amp to the rear of my VW wagen. But it remains possible,so that is a design plus for this company. Hats off to Tivoli, my garden spot for small discrete audio gear...with minimum of glitz and faddishness. GS

bought this battery for my alarm clock as the indicator told me the battery was low. For some reason that warning has now gone so haven't used the battery as yet but I have no doubt it will do the job just fine when required.
