RCA RC180i App-Enhanced Portable Docking System for iPod and iPhone

RCA RC180i App-Enhanced Portable Docking System for iPod and iPhone
  • Docking station for iPod and iPhone, even iPhone 4
  • Alarm clock features Auto Time Set and dual wake
  • Comes with N-hance technology for added application use
  • Convenient carrying handle makes RC180i portable
  • Features line-in for connection to all sorts of devices

I got this for my ipod touch 4th generation. I put it on and a note came up on the ipod touch that said that this accessory was not compatible with this device, but it will still play on it, so I don't know what the deal is with the little notice saying it was not compatable. As for the brightness, you can adjust it and the dimmest I find difficult to see, so there should not be a problem finding a level that suits you. It has a nice handle to care. You need 2 "AA" batteries for the back up of the clock, and in the other side on the bottom, there is a slot for 4 "AA" batteries for listening on the go.

Buy RCA RC180i App-Enhanced Portable Docking System for iPod and iPhone Now

Do NOT buy this clock if you intend to use it as an alarm clock in your bedroom. Remember the Seinfeld episode where the neon sign from the Kenny Rogers chicken joint kept Kramer, then Jerry, awake all night because it was so bright? Same thing here... but the blinding light is blue (even on the dimmest setting).

You can download the RCA app (which is pretty cool) and it says that allows you to turn the clock's display off and use your iPhone as the display. However, the RCA app renders the iPhone useless. We tried re-installing several times. It affects the touchscreen capabilities somehow.

OTHERWISE, we were impressed with the sound and features. We had to send to it back, which is too bad.

Good features for the price and seems to be relatively solid. It's not intended to be a boombox, so the modest volume is not a problem. Adjusting the iPod's equalizer settings permits significant adjustment to the sound. The self-setting clock is a bonus.

This unit is weak! Okay for a clock radio but not enough sound to use as a boombox. You would have to be right next to it to hear it outside.

Creative Zen Stone Plus 2 GB MP3 Player (Black)

Creative Zen Stone Plus 2 GB MP3 Player
  • Product Type - MP3 Player
  • Connectivity - USB 2.0
  • Memory - 2GB
  • Dimensions WxDxH - 2.19" x 1.39" x 0.5"

I bought the first Stone and loved it. The folder skip switch was one of the coolest things about the ipod shuffle killer. But then Creative decided to try and one up themselves. So starting from my favorite feature I'll outline the changes.

That folder switch had to be dropped for the Plus. Instead Play and a Shortcut button (for switching to a favorite mode quickly) is put in it's place. Now the center button on the face of the player acts as a context sensitive select/menu button.

The added FM radio, Voice Recorder, and Stop Watch are pretty basic and get the job done. Nothing to write home about and as far as extras go, they may have their use here and there (a lot more useful than the iPod Shuffle).

The music player portion is where Creative got lazy and lose a star. Hot off the intuitive heels of the Stone, Creative manages to drop the ball an d produce one crappy interface. Getting through the main menus is easy enough on the player, clicking the center button once brings you to the menu where you go through the functions and holding it down brings you to the menu for the current function you are using.

That's not so bad. Just takes a little getting used to. What is bad however, is that you can't browse your folders. Huh? Yeah that's right. You just pick folders, not songs within folders. What hurts even more is that the only folders that are shown are the ones with audio files in them! So kiss your file tree goodbye. Creative just prunes it. Another oddity to note is that the MP3 player has it's own weird auto-hold function after the screen fades out. You'll have to tap a button to wake it up, then tap whatever you wanted to actually tap. This can be even more nerve wrecking than going through the music.

Outside of how music organization is handled (and the lack of play lists), the new Stone Plus isn't so bad for the price. The added screen is clear and easy to read and a definite must for the added gigabyte of space on this tiny MP3 player. And the audio quality is just fine. Not perfect but pretty good for something this size.

The first Stone (and Sansa Express) already gave ample reasons to not buy an iPod Shuffle. This is just another nail in the Shuffle's coffin (I consider the iRiver S10 to be the dirt that goes on top of the coffin). So go get one already.

When searching for an MP3 player I was going to use primarily for books on tape the pause feature was important to me. I did not however find the product descriptions or very many reviews that answered my questions regarding this feature. I bought this Stone Plus and hopped it would do what I wanted. It does.

I can pause mid story and let it power down on its own then when I power back up later it starts up where it left off. I can pause and change to the radio feature and when I swich back it starts where it left off again. If I hit pause and change to a different saved song it does not come back and play where it left off and I have to search for the chapter I was in and start that chapter from the beginning.

I hope this helps anyone else researching these features.

(2008 HOLIDAY TEAM) The Creative Zen Stone Plus 2GB doubles the size of the iPod Shuffle and adds a monochrome screen for viewing track names and settings. Add in the functionality of a built-in FM tuner and voice recorder with other extras. At the average price of $60 you have a nice value.

Pros -

+ good stereo sound

+ nice capacity for a decent price

+ light-weight

+ FM tuner with 32 presets ( though it's just average )

+ voice recording

+ simple design (no more click wheel!) with more color options

+ great navigation and sorting features

+ Nice format compatibility (MP3, WAV, WMA, Audible)

+ USB 1.1 and 2.0 connectivity

+ Can be used as a USB drive / mass storage

+ Can sync music with drag & drop or via Creative software

+ Nice extras like stopwatch function

Cons

average battery life of 10 hours (OLED screen sucks the battery)

mediocre backlight ( but it can be disabled )

some DRM song transfer issues with some firmware versions

not expandable few size options 1GB and 2GB

Creative software is buggy

larger than the 2nd and 3rd generation iPod shuffles

Creative's Zen Stone line was meant to be the upgrade to the Zen nano, aka Muvo mini. Unfortunately, the 1GB Zen Stone had some quality issues. With the new 2GB Zen Stone Plus, Creative has tried to improve on previous models and compete with the Sandisk Sansas.

I love the new Sandisk Sansa's. The Sansa Express has the advantage that you can plug it directly into your USB port without a cable. SanDisk Sansa Express 2 GB MP3 Player (Black) Still, the Creative Zen Stone feels nicer in the hand. It's not as sleek as the Sansa Express and doesn't have all the cool cache' of an iPod shuffle or iPod nano. But it is priced very attractively and has some NICE features. It's good for a starter, workout unit, or gift for a kid.

The Creative Zen Stone Plus is lighter than the competition, but is still larger than the new iPod Shuffle 2nd and 3rd generations. Unlike the shuffle, you can actually see your track names! The OLED screen is perfect for a player this size but does suck more power and shorten the battery life.

The controls are an improvement from the Zen nano days. While I didn't mind the toggle wheel, it has been replaced by intuitive buttons for the standard functions (select, up, down, play, pause, forward or reverse). There's a headphone jack, microphone hole, and a USB port.

Another change from the Zen nano days is the Lithium Ion battery, which gives you about 10 hours if your lucky. This is less versatile than the old battery operated unit, but more convenient.

What about sound? The sound is great, and it comes through in pure stereo. As usual, you will hear complaints about the earbuds. Most people replace their standard earbuds so I won't hold that against Creative.

The Zen Stone doesn't have larger storage options. For those needing more space, you will have to explore the Creative Zen, Sandisk Sansa or new iPod Nano. All of those units have higher price tags.

This unit is ideal as a player and not for those who primarily want to use it for recording. The built-in microphone is nice for short reminders.

The price isn't a give-away, and the plastic case could be more durable. Still, this is a nice starter unit that can last you a while. Check it out. Enjoy!!!

Want Creative Zen Stone Plus 2 GB MP3 Player (Black) Discount?

I have a 30 gb ipod, and have had several mp3 players before. This 2 gb device was purchased for my jogs. It performs wonderfully. There is a short learning curve to organizing songs into folders, but I love the sound and the tiny featherweight package is easy to carry about. The radio is not as good as the one on my old iaudio, but still it picks up the local stations well enough. If the radio were a bit stronger, it would get 5 stars. Highly recommended for joggers.

After using a bargain bin MP3 player for nearly a year, and upgrading earbuds to something that plays bass frequencies, I decided that I needed a player that can put out better sound.

Since I didn't need to watch movies or view pictures, but still liked the idea of seeing what song is playing, the creative zen stone PLUS with an OLED screen seemed perfect.

I used to own an iPod 2G Shuffle, but I didn't like how I could always hear a some distortion/nastiness on loud drum hits, etc and "hissing" through the headphones made by the player itself which ruined the quiet parts of some songs for me, I was disappointed with the sound.

After using the Zen Stone Plus a few months I think its a great player that does it's job decently.

PROS:

*Greatest sounding MP3 player I've used to date, I think my current earbuds are the only thing holding back better sound now

*Charges fast, if its charging really slow the USB slot you're using probably isn't putting out very much voltage for some reason

*No "hissing" or noises made by the player (fits in with sound quality)

*Decent volume for something so small

*Great OLED screen, very clear, perfect for viewing a song. On a side note the blue backlight makes a cool effect when you shake it.

*You can browse through menus and change options while your music plays

*No software required...functions as a 2gb flash drive

*Loads the next song very fast, no delay like on some players.

*Lots of features like microphone, FM radio (with stereo), timer, clock that the iPod shuffle doesn't have.

Its a nice player, but of course there are some things that make it a little bit less than 100% perfect:

CONS:

*Battery goes dead/almost dead after about a week without being used, even after being charged to 100% and with the "clock" option turned off which would probably make this problem even worse. If Li-On batteries are at 0% for too long it will have a very bad effect and they will never again hold charge as well as they did new, and if the battery goes bad you have to buy a whole new player.

*Mine lost alot of it's shinyness after only 4 days where it spent most of it's time in my pocket.

*A clip like on the iPod shuffle 2G would be nice and would probably give people more reason to choose creative instead of the apple which has a big advantage thru popularity.

*Menu-navigation speed can be somewhat laggy

*Stock earbuds look nice but just don't sound that good, then again I am someone who needs perfect sound. Alrite for average listner/backups.

*Gets a bit warm when charging (hot temperatures aren't good for lithium ion batteries...especially when you can't replace them), probably not hot enough to cause any damage though.

*USB 2.0 compatible but USB 1.1 transfer speeds...about 1.5 megabytes of data a second for putting new songs/files. But once the music/file is on there, read speeds are perfectly fine.

***Recently after not having used the player for awhile, I tried to turn it on only for it to get stuck on the Creative logo. It wouldn't respond so I hit the reset button a few times, without success. I thought maybe it didn't have enough juice to load, so I plugged it into my PC to charge and upload new songs. When I tried to access the device the window froze

F:/ The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.

...my first thoughts were the flash chip had magically corrupted/broken itself? It was fine the last time I used it. I tried to format the player only to have the window freeze again just from right-clicking on the player's icon. I eventually resorted to plugging it into a computer with OS X and all my files were gone from the memory.

Finally after using "erase" with disk utility.app (same thing as format) the device was revived. I don't know what could have caused this, and if someone clueless would have had this problem, the player might have ended up in the trash or sent in for repairs. The creative support website has good help walkthroughs and instructs on how to format when you choose "transfer problem", but the window kept freezing before I could proceed. I just hope it doesn't do this again and refuse to be revived... only defective flash chips corrupt themselves, I hope it was just a fluke. Looking back, formatting from the command line on PC might have fixed it.

In conclusion I think its an attractive player with many more features and louder volume output than apple's 2G shuffle (it's competitor) if you don't mind the cons.

50 392 LR41 Watch Alkaline Batteries AG3 SR41 Battery

50 392 LR41 Watch Alkaline Batteries AG3 SR41 BatteryI use these batteries in a laser pointer and it is always important to have spares on hand. I searched everywhere I know of in local shops and couldn't find this specific type. I have paid as much as $5 each for similar tiny alkaline batteries. This is less than $8 for 50 of them including shipping!!! Absolutely amazing. I received them via regular mail service 2 business days after the sale. I put them in the laser pointer to ensure they are the right size and they work. This is one of those rare examples of extreme value and service. Buy these batteries.

By the way, I am seriously just a random buyer. I don't work for them or know anybody who does. I'm seriously just amazed at how sweet this worked out for me.

Less than $.20 each. WallyWorld charges $3 for what appears to be the same thing. Prompt shipping.

I purchased the 50 pk of batteries for replacements in stop watches I was using for a special project. I felt the price was a great value. After receiving the batteries and installing them in the watches I discovered that 46 of the 50 were bad. I only had 4 that worked and of that 4, 2 only worked for a few days. It was not one of my better purchases. This was the first item I was unhappy with purchased through Amazon. I still Love Amazon.

I purchased these as spares and have not tested them yet, but I am giving this product one star less already because there was no manufacture or expiration date on the package. After I complained, the seller quickly responded assuring that the batteries are fresh and have the shelf life of about 3 years. I actually hoped it would be longer than that (this is where the date on the packaging would be informative). I should also mention that the batteries are made in China for a Russian company (according to the text in Russian), and this is not necessary a negative detail. The basic information about the product is also available in other langugaes.

Disney by Memorex DCR5000C Alarm Clock Radio (Classic)

Disney by Memorex DCR5000C Alarm Clock RadioThis is so cool! it has the best wake up alarm ever! I love this clock. The only reason I could not give it 5 stars is because even with the manual the controls are hard to figure out, but with practice it is an awesome clock.

My kids and spouse fight over whose room the alarm clock gets to live in because it is so much fun to wake up to in the morning!!! The radio works great. The baby has sucked on it and dropped it, yet the clock radio remained durable. The snooze button is easy to use. I like the multitude of options to wake up to and the dimmer choice on the display.

Sony CFDG505 Radio Cassette Recorder Boombox (Black)

Sony CFDG505 Radio Cassette Recorder Boombox
  • AM-FM CD Cassette w/ 20 Watts total power.
  • Built-in Sub-woofer
  • Wirless Remote Control
  • Auxilary Input for MP3 Players, etc.
  • CD-R, CD-RW Playback
  • PC/Audio In for Digital Music Players or PC Input

It may seem like this is just another boombox in a never ending list of products whose faces change each year. On the surface this unit has cheap plastic parts, a big ugly 'X', and a silly little display that is about as exciting as a clock radio from 1982. The parts such as the CD door could easily be destroyed by a one-year-old (meaning, the child would not find it very difficult at all).

So, why would anyone want this $100 hunk of plastic? And why was the unit I purchased the very last one on the shelf? And why in the world is it missing features like "MP3 playback", and includes archaic features like "cassette deck"? You've got me! Fortunately, none of this matters.

For the purpose I bought it for--plugging in a portable music player--this is the box that puts all the others to shame. For such a low price I doubt there is any product in the world that delivers this kind of power and bass response. Featuring 2 4" speakers AND a 4" subwoofer this unit is ready to churn out a wide range of hip-hop, dance music, and much more.

To put it bluntly this 20 watt system (4W + 4W @ 3.2 ohms, 12 W @ 4 ohms) sounds huge and is a perfect companion for a device such as an iPod. I consider this product fierce competition to some of the weak sounding speaker systems alluringly sold along side iPods. With a simple cable (1/8" stereo to 1/8" stereo, NOT INCLUDED) you can plug any portable audio device into this boombox.

Sony has successfully filled this corner for years, offering cheap boomboxes with good bass, and the very important "line-in"! Oh, and it comes with a remote control, plays CD's and CDR's, and has an AM/FM radio. It's fairly heavy and has a deep footprint: 20 13/15 x 12 7/8 x 9 1/2" (530 x 327 x 241mm). Despite any oddness, for this price I can't imagine being happier.

I ve always loved boomboxes and have owned dozens of them over the years. I have the Sony G55 that I still use,but Im always on the lookout for something bigger better and more powerful, and this is it. I tried it out in a local Best Buy, tuned to the local FM station and I was blown away by the deep bass and seperation. When you can notice that in a crowded store thats a good sign. I also wanted a line in for my portable dVD player and my roady2 from XM and I am very pleased.

I wlways loved the "virtual surround" on some of these but I couldn t find any unit with this kind of sound, virtual surround and a line in, but this sure comes close.

Only complaint is the lack of a lighted display, but I can live with that. With four different sound settings, the super woofer and a line in jack this is as closeto perfection I ve found in a boombox.

I agree with the review that is written underneath this one~ when you recieve it, it is not attractive and you wonder "Where in the world will I put this thing so it doesn't look like a space ship just landed from Venus?" But when you turn it on.... It just dosen't matter. It has the best sound I have ever heard from a portable and you will have no need to own any other type of stero. If your looking for a CD player, this is the one.

Want Sony CFDG505 Radio Cassette Recorder Boombox (Black) Discount?

I'm 47 and I have owned alot of sound equipment in my day. This is a good sounding boombox with A CASSETTE PLAYER! When you are my age, at some point in life you must have owned vinyl records, 8-tracks, and compact cassettes. So if you're like me, you don't want to be bothered throwing away all of your tapes and replacing them with CD's. But what to play them on? Good luck finding something that sounds great and that you don't have to search used vintage stereo equipment stores or pawn shops to buy. Now this thing looks stupid, and I feel really old when I look at it (because this product was obviously meant for the younger crowd), but I can get past that because of how good it sounds. Not to mention that I don't have to replace all of my cassettes now. I cannot vouch for it's quality as I know things are made much more cheaply these days, but I plan on being very careful with it so I can KEEP MY TAPES and have a great sounding box on which to play them.

I bought this boombox to use mainly as a car stereo so I could hopefully eliminate spending $700-$800 on a complete car system, since my car stereo doesn't work at all. I knew I needed something loud and with a big bass sound to overpower road noise. Sony's Xplode boombox does not dissapoint! Fantastic booming bass when and if you want it, as it is adjustable and can be cranked up as loud as I would ever need. I read the reviews here and am quite happy with my purchase although I wound up buying it online and picking it up through a local retailer, since Ace Digital claimed the unit was out of stock and perhaps discontinued. If you want a great boombox with with incredible sound, move quickly and get this unit before it does dissappear from production. I do however wish the unit came with a bigger display that was backlit. It's really small and hard to read. The remote control is great but you can't tell what function you are accessing unless your standing inches away from the display. Kind of defeats the purpose of having the remote control. I would have given the unit 5 starts if it wasn't for this. In any case, I like the unit so much, I may be purchasing a second one for the house. If you are a stickler about full rich sound, no matter what your style of music, this is your boombox.

RCA RC10 AM/FM Alarm Clock Radio (Black)

  • 0.6-inch green LED display
  • Built in AM/FM radio for convenient listening
  • Graduwake ramp-up alarm
  • Programmable snooze; Programmable sleep
  • Wake to radio or buzzer

I realize this isn't an expensive clock radio, but still we have been very disappointed. The controls have a very flimsy feel, the sound is so tinny and schrill you can hardly listen even to people talking on the radio. You have to tune to diferent radio stations just by listening--I have never, ever seen a radio that didn't provide visual feedback while tuning, but this one is the first. Finally, in several weeks of use we have seen no evidence that the grad-u-wake wake-up volume increasing system works at all. The only hard decision is what to do with this radio now, give to a thrift shop or throw it away.

I have a 30-year old Panasonic digital clock radio and 25-year old London digital clock and both still keep perfect time.

I bought this clock despite other bad reviews because my last clock was an older version of this one. My old clock worked fine until I broke it in a move. I tried this clock because it is the only clock radio that advertised displaying the alarm time and had a plug. Lots of battery alarms do this, I am not sure why clock radios do not.

Anyways, this clock did not work. When plugged in, you can set the time and it seems to work. But if the clock uses any other function, such as turning on the radio or, heaven forbid, turning on the alarm, the whole clock turns off. This only lasts for a fraction of a second. But you lose the time (the time starts flashing "12:00"), and the alarm is turned off and reset to 12:00. A backup battery would probably solve this. But if I wanted a battery powered clock, I would have bought one.

This is by far one of the funniest and amazing alarm clocks on the market. I purchased two since they are great and do every thing the manufacturer says it does. When you set it to wake up to the "talking" mode, you are awakened by funny noises and even funnier "talking voices" which are pre-recorded on a microchip. There are seven different voices waking you up. Everything from an educated Afro-American, an Indian guy with a heavy accent, to an Italian guy almost threatening you to wake up! It is so funny that you wake up smiling! Indeed, the talking mode is so funny, that I wake up with a smile every morning! Great alarm clock. I highly recommend it.

iHome iP28 Portable Travel Alarm Clock for iPod and iPhone (Black)

iHome iP28 Portable Travel Alarm Clock for iPod and iPhone
  • Compatibility: iPod mini; iPod nano 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G; iPod classic 4G, 5G, 5.5G, 6G; iPod touch 1G, 2G; iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS
  • Wake and sleep to your music from docked iPhone/iPod devices, with gradual alarm and sleep fade-in/-out
  • Four-chambered Reson8 speakers and EXB bass-enhancement circuit provide superior stereo sound
  • Power with four AA batteries, and use included carrying case for serious portability
  • Includes auxiliary input for external audio devices such as MP3 or CD players

GOOD/GOOD TO KNOW: Alarm has a gradual wake-up feature -sound starts soft, and then gradually increases to the full volume over about 30 seconds.

When unfolded, the unit is about the size of a hardback book (see my additional user photos).

You have to set the volume you want on the unit before triggering the alarm. I set it to 37 because I heard a little distortion at the max (level 40).

The sound quality is very good.

AC adapter works overseas (w/the appropriate country converter, not included).

Unit charges the ipod when the AC adapter is plugged in. It does not charge when it's operating on battery power (4 AAs).

Snooze lasts for 9 minutes.

Included lithium cell battery for the clock face is secured in a separate chamber within one of the AA battery chambers (pretty well-hidden -good if you have small children who may try to eat the battery).

ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT: The blinking "low backup battery" signal on the bottom left of the unit is rather annoying.

The max volume isn't very loud, even with the EXB boost feature on.

You can't change songs on the ipod through the unit, you can only play, pause, and adjust volume.

We wanted an iPod dock that would work as an alarm clock and charge the iPod, so we selected the Altec Lansing Octiv Mini Speaker System for iPhone and iPod (Black). However, that did not meet our needs at all and we were very disappointed. What made this unit stand out for us is the fact that you can use the alarm/clock without the iPod being docked. It even has an optional snooze like many alarm clocks. It is set for 9 minutes and cannot be altered. As I've had alarm clock radios with a set snooze before, this didn't bother me.

Pros

1) ALARM works independently of the ipod. Wake to music from a docked iPod, or a buzzer.

2) SOUND QUALITY is very good for this type of item; much better than the Altec unit we tried. I would use this at parties to provide music.

3) VOLUME control from the dock, and not just the iPod.

4) ADAPTERS, Comes with three to hold several generations of iPods/iPhones.

5) PORTABLE. The unit folds in half and has a padded sleeve to carry it in. We won't travel with it, but it's a nice option.

6) BACK-UP battery like most alarm clocks for possible power outage. Or, can be powered by AA batteries if you travel with no outlet available.

7) TIMER to turn off music after a set time.

8) SLEEK design, classic black color.

Cons

1) DISPLAY for clock is way too bright. Four settings: high, medium, low and off. It's backlit so the low setting is still very bright. But, when it's off you cannot read the clock display at night. We have a beacon of blue on our ceiling; I'm worried aliens have come to carry me away!

2) NO headphone jack.

3) SIZE is significantly larger than a regular alarm clock so it takes up a lot of space on a nightstand.

4) Like another reviewer, we also noticed the "battery low" indicator is always on even though the back-up battery is brand new.

Overall, though this is a bit pricey, it's worth the cost to us. The pros far outweigh the cons, and the most important features we wanted are well done. Highly recommended.

I wanted to love the iP28. But I've been using it for 24 hours and have been both impressed and confused / disappointed.

PROS

+ Very compact and lightweight.

+ Sound surprisingly full.

+ Easy to set up.

+ Packaging was truly frustration free and minimalistic, little extra waste.

CONS

+ Doesn't integrate with the iHome app. I expected them to work together.

+ Because it won't work the the app, the alarm is only a buzzer instead of playing my music.

+ Using the iPhone 4, none of the dock inserts work. It still docks, MOST of the time.

+ Most of the time, it doesn't, but occasionally the incompatibility message pops up (with the iPhone 4)

When it works, it's great. It you are using another product (iPhone 3G, 3GS, ipod nano or older touch...) it may work better for you.

I have now owned this item for about 4 months and use it for my iPod 4. The docking is okay. But, then again docking iPods to anything, even with the right adapter can be tricky.

The clock loses about a minute a month. No big deal, it is just an annoyance. The biggest drawback is the only way you can forward to the next song is to use the iPod. This is a real pain and for fear of bending the pins, I use two hands.

It does charge the iPod, but only wakes you up if you have the iPod plugged into it. And, you are not going to put it in your overnight bag to travel.

Bottom line is that if the sound was not as good as it is, this would be a big disappointment.

This is a fantastic addition, in my opinion, to a small room or apartment. I live in the latter, and there just isn't much space for larger sized docks. The iHome iP28 is marked as a "travel" model, but all that means is it is small, well-built, durable, and convenient. It provides ample amount of sound at max volume (level 40) for a small room. You won't be blown away, but it is better than some of the earlier iHome models.

One trick you can do to increase perceived volume is to turn the speakers toward a wall (with glass or metal works best); this will cause sound to bounce off the wall and into your room. It won't be as loud right next to the device, but the sound will be spread more evenly across the room.

The only downside to this device is that it doesn't have radio. Otherwise, it interfaces well with my iPhone (which does have radio), so I don't have much to complain about. Great product!

Supersonic Car CD RECEIVER WITH AM/FM RADIO, AUX IN & DETACHABLE PANEL
  • In-dash Cd Player with AM/FM,
  • Front Auxiliary Input
  • Detachable Face

This car cd/radio is not worth the money. Radio stations do not stay locked in so I only get one station and it does not come in completely clear. The cd player drops off in the middle of the cd and goes back to the first song constantly. Ughhhh!!!

why is it that every time i turn my car off i have to turn the radio back on and it loses it's memory. don't like it at all for that.

I'm impressed by the quality of this speaker system. I wouldn't pay retail for it but at $30 it's probably the best thing available. BTW, it isn't iPhone compatible. Otherwise the sound is pretty good. The user interface isn't intuitive, but we don't use it for anything other than an iPod speaker system.

Thankfully I got this as a Gold Box deal for about one-third the list price. If I had paid more, I would have returned it. It is a challenge to set up. The printed directions are very hard to follow. They also listed the wrong adapter type for my iPod type, or the adapters were mislabeled. The time can only be set in ten-minute increments (really!) so you have to wait until the time is right to set the time! You can't scroll thru your pre-set stations on the device itself; you have to use the remote. Lots of other similar quirks. The sound is just okay, after connecting the included FM antenna. Bottom line: DO NOT pay anything near the list price for this item, have PATIENCE setting it up, and don't expect to be impressed by the sound.

I purchased this as a gold box purchase for my 10 year old son for Christmas. After I received it I wanted to check out the quality before I wrapped it up. It had a very "tinny" sound and had a constant hum on every radio station I went to-which got louder when depressing the button to change the station. This is not even worth $50.00. I returned it.

Jensen AM/FM Projection Clock Radio- Pink

Jensen AM/FM Projection Clock Radio- PinkGot this for my 10yr old for xmas. She really likes it alot. The only complaint is you need to set the projection time seperate from front display. It isn't a big deal, just would be nicer to only set time once.

The Sharper Image EC-A115 Rotating Speaker System for iPod/iPhone

The Sharper Image EC-A115 Rotating Speaker System for iPod/iPhone
  • Innovative docking feature rotates from vertical to horizontal positioning for best view
  • Charge, play and display your iPod/iPhone
  • Full, rich, digital sound quality and performance
  • One-touch easy-to-use illuminated controls
  • Auxiliary-input for connecting other MP3 players and audio devices (audio cable included)

While the rotating unit feature is cool in a engineer/nerd (engi-nerd) type sense, it does not justify this product at price point.

I just bought one of these being closed out locally at a record shop for $50, no returns. Not really worth it even at this price.

Reasons for this:

No remote control, at the retail price point expected.

Not well integrated with iPod touch 3g interface.

Pressing buttons on the unit does not change the display from locked mode for example.

Pause the unit at one volume level walk away and later resume play, does not remember the volume level.

Display will not light up if you press a button on the unit.

While the industrial design is striking, the execution is sub par. For example the buttons seem really cheese-y. I should have know this from the display model having the buttons pushed into the unit.

Not nearly as nifty as a iPod 3G design, and I would have expected much more from a Sharper Image name. I will live with it at this price, what choice do I have since I bought on the condition of no returns.

I actually think it sounds pretty good as speakers for my iPod touch. I use it to listen to music while I'm working. Keeps the iPod charged, too, when I'm not listening to it. Is it hi-fi? No, and I wouldn't expect it to be. But it's not tinny-sounding, either. Works for me.

I first saw these in a local store and thought it looked cool. The swiveling dock part peaked my interest. After purchasing though and actually listening to music I must say I'm not impressed. Sound is very poor, and audio sounds like its coming from a tin can and lacks any bass. For the price you can find better. There is no remote control, no display and even the swivel is slow and clunky. The only pro I can think of is its looks but your purchasing this to listen to and honestly its horrible.

I found this at an overstock retail store for 29.00. I must say that it was entirely worth it for my purposes as an office music player. I will never need any serious volume in this environment and it charges and plays my iPod Touch 2g, iPhone 3GS, and iPod nano 2g.

The other reviewers said that the buttons seem cheap and I'd have to agree, the rotation feature also is kind of cheap since the motor noise makes it seem like it's going to fail at any moment. So, if you are going to be using this feature alot you might be disappointed after a few hundred uses, mine is working fine after a week and a half of minimal use.

Sound quality is fine. I haven't cranked it and frankly only purchased it for low volume applications, either as a clock or an office player. At low volumes the device sounds fine.

I'm thinking for the price I paid it's a great value. If I had paid the original price of 99.00 for it I'd have felt ripped off, but at 29.00 it's a great iPhone player/charger.

Really nice stereo, comes with lots of bells and whistles. Camera input with trigger, Sub output, Aux input from back of radio, another video input and 2 video outputs, Digital coax audio input, usb connection in front. SD slot, plays dvds and the picture looks really good for a TFT monitor, FM channels come in great. Radio has 45watts per channel. Noticed spinning sounds from radio when ignition is off, I believe its a cooling fan inside, sound goes away after 30mins. Installed this radio in a express van 2 weeks ago, seems to be running fine and sound good too.
