RCA RC142 Large Display Clock Radio with USB Charging

RCA RC142 Large Display Clock Radio with USB Charging
  • Built-in USB port for device charging
  • iPod/iPhone compatible
  • AM/FM radio
  • Dual wake, sleep and snooze functions
  • Audio line-in for MP3 player connectivity

I needed a clock radio with an AUX input so came to Amazon to see what was available.

I bought a Westclox Tech AM/FM clock radio from Amazon. The Westclox radio was poorly made, would not pick up even the strongest of stations even the station with a radio tower 2 miles from me. The AUX input on the Westclox did not turn off via the sleep function. I am in the process of returning that unit to Amazon.

In the meantime, I still needed a clock radio with an AUX input. Went to Walmart and found the RCA RC142 radio.

I thought the Westclox was poorly made but the RCA RC142 was worse. The On/Off button was stuck down I had to move it from side to side to get it to pop up to the start position so that I could turn it on or off.

The time set button would not select the lock position so the display stayed on the time set for Alarm 1.

Reception was poor once again I could not pick up the local station whose tower was 2 miles away.

Tuning required a magnifying glass to see the frequencies printed on the tuning button. There is no vernier so you have little idea of what frequency you are tuning to.

The instruction sheet was written in about 10 different languages in very small print.

I hate it when I have to sift through multiple languages to find how to work something.

It seems that any RCA device I have purchased in the recent past has been poorly made and prone to premature failure. I took it back to Walmart and got my money back but I still needed a clock radio with an AUX input.

I went back to the electronics section of Walmart to look for another radio. I found an Emerson Smart Set Dual alarm radio with line-in Emerson Dual Alarm Clock Radio Amfm Smartset. I was skeptical since like RCA, Emerson had once been a very good brand of radio but my recent experience with Emerson had been less that spectacular.

I got home with the Emerson, opened the box and found a carefully packaged device.

On opening the Packaging and removing the radio, I found that it appeared to be well built. The finish was good, the buttons were solidly installed. For $20 and change it was more than I expected.

I plugged it in and the correct time appeared on the screen no messing around trying to find out how to set the time. (The correct time is programmed in for Eastern Time. You will need to adjust for other time zones)

The correct day and date were already programmed into the radio.

I do not think it is an atomic clock thing but rather a finely tuned clock circuit that produced such an accurate time on start up.

A button type battery comes installed to provide backup for when the power is out.

The instructions are written in English only.

The AUX input is controlled by the sleep function.

The tuning frequencies appear on the display as you turn the tuning knob and the thing picks up a station 30 miles from where I live.

I suggest that you pass on the RCA and look at the Emerson if you need a clock radio.

I purposely bought this because it had a radio and a USB charging dock. The reception on the radio is terrible from the get go, but once you have a phone plugged in, it's unusable. It's total static and hardly any signal gets through. Also, the nap/sleep buttons are totally non-functional. This is a big paperweight that happens to have a clock on it.

Ok, so. This is a medium-sized black clock with large glowy display, radio, and USB charger capability.

Size: Put three soda cans next to each other and that's about what you're dealing with. A bit on the big side.

Glowy Display: Not so glowy. Even in a pitch black room, it's dim. I suppose if you're easily annoyed by light when trying to sleep, this dimness would be a good thing. But even in a poorly lit room, its tough to read the time.

Radio: Nothing good to say here. The speaker is weak and tinny. The dial is stiff and it's tough to tell what you're tuned to: the glowy display is for the time only, not for the radio information.

USB Charger: It works! The jack is awkwardly located, but if you always charge the same device, just keep that cord plugged in and you're set.

To sum up: No, I wouldn't recommend this to a friend.

This alarm clock looks better in the pictures on the website and on the box than it does when you get it out of the box. The impression of holding the product itself is that it is a pretty cheap piece of gear. It doesn't feel particularly substantial. Once you set the time and put it on the shelf though it looks pretty nice. I appreciate the slim form factor. The ability to plug in a phone or USB device is also a nice touch. You can also plug in an MP3 device and play music through the tinny low quality typical clock radio speakers if you desire. It has a compartment for a backup battery and needs a 9v battery for that. Overall a decent alarm clock. Extra points for slim form factor and USB plug.

I just purchased a RC142 and it simply is the poorest product I've seen. It is going back. The alarm-off feature did not work. The dimmer switch was barely functioning. The music-alarm-off buttons (1 or 2) did not sequence through the off mode. A few minutes of playing with it, and the music-alarm-off buttons BROKE. This is a piece of junk, and I would be very embarrassed if I worked for RCA.

Sony Walkman SRF-M37W - personal radio -AM is decent, but FM selectivity and sensitivity is extremely poor, a lot of interference from near station and hissing.

I really do not recommend, choose something else, it will be better. Sony retire this product!!!

Droid X Desktop OEM Charger Multimedia Docking Station with HDMI technology

Droid X Desktop OEM Charger Multimedia Docking Station with HDMI technology
  • Listen to music, see photos or watch HD videos using a standard HDMI cable (sold separately). In desktop-only mode, listen to your music or use as a digital picture frame while charging your DROID X.
  • The multimedia station for Motorola Droid X charges the Motorola Smartphone and turns it into an alarm clock or digital picture frame.
  • It displays photos and movies, plays music, and shows weather and time.
  • And it can sync your phone with a nearby PC

I read reviews on the dock and thought it would make a great addition to my accessory collection, I have the car mount and love it. This mount allows me to have a clock by my side of the bed that I can see without having to put on my glasses. It also doubles as an overnight charger, I often forget to charge and the battery is so low in the morning that I often have to limit use while out for the day. It is solid and well made, almost sexy in it's clean styling. If you are in doubt about purchasing, don't think about it anymore, BUY IT NOW!!!! It will be well worth it.

I bought this to replace the phone/radio alarm clock on my nightstand. And it is very nice to have this instead!! The dock looks nice and sleek and the phone goes obediently into dock mode as soon as it even touches the magnet. The only trouble is sometimes it is not in the dock completely before this happens. I am hoping it will loosen up a bit from use, because it is a VERY tight fit and struggle to get it in the dock, as it goes in and out of dock mode while trying. Once docked it shows the clock and some pre-loaded widgets. These widgets can be deleted (as I have done), and more added to suit your needs/taste. The screen at first said "Problem loading widget" when it docked. This is the weather widget it is trying to load, and many are having this problem. Just long-press this and drag it over to the trash can on the right of the screen. After you delete it, long-press on your screen and add the Weather widget again from the Dock Widgets in the popup box. It should work/load correctly after that. I did find that the clock was bright (even when dimmed), so I am currently trying an app (from the Market) called NightClock. It is a black screen with red digital clock -and you can even pick the color/hue and font that you want for the clock numbers. I use a very dark red and it is nice. It also allows screen dimming as well, so you may want to give that app a try if you find the stock screen too bright. It is easy to switch back and forth between the Nightclock and the regular screen/clock too. My final comment is on the tight fit of this dock. Motorola must have had their heads up their butts when they designed the fit, because I don't know of ANY protective cases that will fit with this dock. I am very upset that my phone must now go "naked" and I am not able to use a protective case on a $500 phone. :( So for this, my rating drops to 3 stars.

The stand provides a nice, secure fit and is relatively easy to slip the Droid X in and out. I haven't used the HDMI out on my Droid X, so I can't comment on that, but hardware-wise this is 5 stars.

The software is also pretty solid. Putting the Droid X in the dock activates the dock program, which features a large, easy to read clock, charging indicator, and a widget/app bar at the bottom. It defaults to an Accuweather widget, a calculator, and the calendar, although you can change any of these or slide left or right to access and addition 8 slots. The weather widget is the biggest gripe... it takes up two slots for no real reason and has been very buggy, frequently losing the location, although that seems to be improving in recent Droid X updates. You can just get rid of it if you like by long-pressing it and dragging to the trash, and similarly you can add other widgets/apps by long-pressing on the desired spot on the slider bar.

For whatever reason, the Droid X hangs whenever it's coming out of the dock... takes it about 30 seconds to fully shift back to it's default interface. This is a software issue that may get fixed. You can also use the X button to exit out of the dock screen at any time and use the regular Droid X interface.

At the time of this review (10/2010), this is far superior to any 3rd party options I have seen. Given how much power the Droid X can suck, I highly recommend getting this dock for work or your desk or nightstand at home.

The HDMI and USB connectors were misaligned. My Droid X would not fit the docking station. It seemed the HDMI connector was at an angle. Had to return for a refund.

T6000 Radio Battery
  • It is renewable and reusable, Interstate Nickel Cadmium batteries work hard for you.

I bought two of these as replacements for the original batteries which were not holding much of a charge. The price was great and they work well. My one pick is the plastic wrapped around the cluster of batteries seems thicker than the original, making it a very tight fit. Even after trimming away some of the plastic, the battery cover still bulged.

Schlage makes a plain version of this lock, without the "LiNK Wireless". It's a fine product in my opinion. But there is a problem converting it to a wireless product the door cannot be locked REMOTELY. It's a fundamental problem for a "remote" product, and Schlage chooses to skirt around the issue.

If you forget to lock your door, or you decide you want to lock it remotely, you're out of luck, unless a burglar is kind enough to turn the knob for you. The deadbolt cannot be thrown electronically. Instead, an electronic "clutch" is engaged, which then allows you to manually operate the deadbolt knob. When "Locked" the knob spins and accomplishes nothing. "Unlocked" means the knob is engaged (temporarily) so you can turn it and throw the deadbolt. It's a novel concept. But notice, that you can't throw the deadbolt unless somebody is there to turn the knob.

The advantage of this type of mechanism is battery life. The battery is not spent throwing the deadbolt. The real work is done by you turning the knob, therefore battery usage is minimized.

What gets me is Schlage's marketing. The product description on their website claims you can "remotely lock or unlock the door" It's simply not true.

You can't excuse this as an oversight, since it is paramount to their design. In fact, the electronic clutch is the single feature that distinguishes it from other electronic locks!

My advice is to try the regular version in one of the big box stores, they all have them on display. You will then understand how the lock functions and you can decide if it suits your needs. Personally, I like the lock, but find the wireless functionality useless. So why pay extra for it?

I installed these locks on my front and garage door a week ago and surprisingly it has been working flawlessly. I am using (Support Challenged) Micasa Verde Vera as Z-Wave gateway since it's too difficult for me to understand why to pay monthly costs to a service provider when I can do it for free with little or no learning but some patience. Here's my feedback and ovservation so far

Looks: Nice, I have brass and matches with other locks in the house from Schlage

Built: Typical Schlage good

Adding it to Z-wave network "With Vera": Easy enough but I have go through an upgrade and plug-in

Adding Codes: I can add codes "4 Digit" only with names including the ability to control the day and time when the code will be active example Maid Service or a Nanny who is about to retire. You cannot edit/modify the code but you can remove and re-add.

Lock/Unlock: From outside all you have to do is to enter your code, making sure, no one is watching with binoculars and you will hear a click and green LED. Turn the knob and it will open. To Close just hit the "Schlage" button after you turn the knob to lock. And yes it does not rotate the knob by itself like other model of Schlage but that is non-Zwave device. You can also use traditional keys to open or close. At night you can press the Schlage button first to illuminate the keys before entering the code helpful.

Battery and battery life: It comes with 3xAA and 1x9 Volt battery and advertized life is too long to believe but so far I did not see even 1% drop after a week's use.

Status and Remote Operation: You can always see the status of the lock as "Lock" or "Unlock" from any web-browser/iPhone etc. Operate it from anywhere to let someone in.

Notification: You can program using Zwave gateway to send you notification Via SMS/Email alert case a particular code is used OR wrong code is used.

Fun/Programming: Being Z-wave you can trigger several events when a particular code is used including but not limited to switching on lights case it's dark or start thermostat to cool/heat your home. Each of these events require additional hardware/device or a module.

Security: Schlage lock and your Z-wave gate will secure the transmission over RF (Radio Frequency) using encryption keys (digital keys something similar to when you access your bank over SSL/https web browser). This is from what I have read so far before purchasing and so far I am convinced that it is easier to find someone's keys under the doormat as compared to hacking the security of the lock with the exception of those binoculars or being careless to use easy numbers like 1234 (as my 5 year suggested me :-) for his code)

Elderly/Disabled: Terrific use to avoid going to the door to let someone in. Can combine with a motion sensor and an IP Camera to know who is at the door before clicking unlock.

Cons:

Not a motorized lock. Case you forget all you can do is to program Z-Wave gate to remind you that door is still unlocked

Incoming traffic is logged and you know when someone is coming in but there Is no way possible to know when someone leaves

One more thing in life to make you couch potato especially when you combine with a motion sensor and an IP Camera at your front door.

Hope you'll find what you're looking for. Additionally Kwickset also announced series of upcoming product based on this technology. Competition may bring the price down possibly.

So I bought this with the intention of NOT using the Schlage Z-Wave bridge to control it. I am glad I chose this route, because the Schlage Bridge has received very poor reviews regarding the limited Z-Wave device support for devices other than a select few Schlage chose to support.

What surprised me...

The lock is NOT motorized, so locking your door after you forgot to when you have left home is NOT GOING TO HAPPEN without someone there to turn the knob. You will have to turn the lock after you hear the knob engage (a soft but definite click will be heard). You will need to explain this to whoever is going to be the one using the deadbolt when you aren't home.

My initial plan was/is to use this as a stand-alone keyless entry device. I bought this one because I plan to hook it up to allow remote access at some future point. At this time I can provide no comments on that part of the functionality.

Installation was as easy as advertised. Just popped the old deadbolt out and this one slid in. No more than 10 minutes and it worked first time with the factory programmed code. It was a pleasant surprise that all required batteries were included in the package.

The only negative I came across is that nowhere in the printed directions that come in the box does it tell you how to program the device to add new codes (or delete codes). I was installing this at a new vacation property and did not have easy access to the internet. I called the help line number found in the box and waited for about 10 minute before I got to a live person. The first offer of help was to email me the instruction sheets, but given that I did not want to read the directions on my BB, I had them walk me through adding a code over the phone. The actual process is fairly simple, my only complaint is that it would be nice if the instructions came in the box. I have since found them online and now have a copy.

Great quality lock!

Z-Wave allows me to program and monitor the lock activity remotely. Customizable pin codes allow you to identify who is entering the house or you can have your Z-Wave system send you a text message.

The lock is of very good quality and eliminates the need for a key. I started using combination locks when my children would come home and needed a key to get in. No more hiding a key or losing the key that was in the backpack.

I have a Vera2 system and am not using Schlage link. The Vera2 works well with the lock.

...it's one of the BEST things invented. However, I have had my unit for 3+ years now and use it only for travel which I do at least once a month for days at a time. I have had this unit repaired twice (at an OUTRAGEOUS cost) due to "fried circuitry". I even bought a portable "circuit-breaker-power-strip thingy" and that didn't stop the internal stuff from frying a second time!!!

On top of this, these radios are no longer being produced, but, if yours does go out, may I suggest that your purchase a used one...it'll be cheaper in the long run. (and, might I add, last as long as getting it repaired (1 year))

I like Sony products ok, but repairing them is not fun. Good luck to those who have had no problems....I'm jealous

  • Large backlit LCD display and backlit buttons ,Reson8® speaker chambers

I have had this slightly over a year. I rarely use it for more than a clock. I have had an old iphone left pluged into it for about 9 months to access the music on it. I went to use it and discovered the the ipod/iphone dock is breaking. I had to push forward on the iphone to get the ihome to recognize it. It seems the weight of the iphone is breaking the dock connection.

For now I have helped fix the problem by using sugru (moldable silicone clay) to create a support that pushed the iphone forward. Could be done with anything though, such as a wad of duck tape, etc. I'll have to see how long this "fix" lasts. An online search revealed a blog with a DIY tutorial on how to order and replace the dock connection.

Remote is also problematic. The remote works to power on and off and change radio stations, but I can no longer get it to change anything else, such as volume or skip track on connect iphone.

Surprisingly great sound quality much better than I expected from such a small unit. The music sounds great even if I turn the volume up. The unit is also very easy to program. I have used similar products before (Sony and Panasonic) and have found instructions are often difficult to follow. That's not the case with this product. The unit also synchs with and charges my iPod nice features!! I also love the large display with dimmer, easy timezone adjustment (need this when working from home with international offices), modern design and sturdy craftsmanship.

This is the most frustrating purchase I've made through Amazon. For $80 an alarm clock should work longer than six months. This thing did not. First the iPod function went after about one month and the entire alarm clock went after about five months after that. I have $15 alarm clocks handed down to my from my parents that still work after decades of abuse. I'm never going to buy an iHome product again and strongly recommend you stay away from them, as well.

Oregon Scientific RMR382-B Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer with Atomic Clock, Black

Oregon Scientific RMR382-B Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer with Atomic Clock, BlackSo far the device has entirely lived up to expectations. Atomic Clock feature works fine and the range and accuracy on the remote sensor seems fair enough -there is often about a 1-2 degree difference between the sensor and main unit if set right next to each other, but this is minor for the uses we get out of it (a quick look at outside temps during the winter).

The only issue we ran into that was "problematic" was the Ice Alarm feature. This feature sets off the devices alarm anytime the temperature drops between 32 and 27 degrees or so to alert you to possible icy conditions. The problem is that in cold climates the temperature hovers in that range all winter long...so the alarm goes off continually every 40 seconds or so.

We just happened upon a solution that has worked perfectly. The ice alarm only works on Channel 1. So, if you set the outside sensor to Channel 2 or 3 the ice alarm is disabled and is no longer triggered. Obviously, they should have an ability to shut it off, but this is it...and even this isn't listed in the instructions.

Product does what it is supposed to do. The readout is large and easy to see. Only complaint is there should be a way to turn off the freeze warning audible alarm which is irritating. It goes off continually. The only way to silence it is to set the outside unit on a different channel than channel 1. Perhaps Oregon should consider doing away with this feature.

Buy Oregon Scientific RMR382-B Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer with Atomic Clock, Black Now

I was dissapointed by the inaccurate temperature readings on this wireless Oregon Scientific item (RMR382A-BK). I placed the external sensor right next to the inside main base unit (with its own sensor) and the temperature was measured as 77.5 degrees on the external sensor, and 74.5 degrees on the base unit (the inside part). The actual room temperature was 73 degrees. This is hardly what I'd decribe as accurate measurements and certainly isn't what I expected.

I called Oregon Scientific and their customer service person said, "They are built with an expected five degree +/variation." I replied that is a huge range for a digital thermometer and that I can get that kind of "accuracy" from a spring or mercury style thermometer. I also found it interesting that nowhere on the box or in the instructions is this five degree +/range of accuracy mentioned.

The customer service rep didn't seem to really care about my issue, and keep trying to act like this is "OK" and should be "acceptable" and inferred that if I wanted better accuracy I should purchase one of their more expensive models.

We'll, it's not OK to make crappy products, especially with the Oregon Scientific name on them. The RMR328A will be going back to the store tomorrow and I'll be looking for another manufacturer that hopefully has a little tighter standard for their thermometer's accuracy.

The Oregon Scientific name used to stand for quality. It seems that this is no longer the case. At least on this model anyway. And the customer service response that "this is somehow OK and acceptable" is beyond me.

Oh, and by the way, I noticed that this thermometer (as well as many of their other wireless models) is manufactured in China. I wonder if this is part of the problem?

My Son-in-law bought this to use in Alaska. The Atomic clock works within 4000 miles of Ft Collins, Co, which doesn't include Alaska. So he set the time manually and it worked for a few weeks, then picked up WWV just long enough to set the clock... to Pacific time. Turns out the clock only has 4 time zones, and doesn't include HI or AK. Customer service couldn't help. Each time he reset it to AK time it worked for awhile then reset to Pacfic time. The wrong time is worse than no time at all. So he gave it to me. I live in NM.

I had the same problem as another reviewer.... freeze alarm constantly waking me up at night. Instructions and customer service no help. Solution was to set remote to channel 2 which has no freeze alarm.

The folks at Oregon Scientific must be related to the Word programmers at Microsoft. They try to come up with overly helpful features which only annoy. And they are no help trying to correct.

Once we relocated this device to New Mexico and figured how to get around the annoying freeze alarm, it works fine. Batteries last MUCH longer than in other brands I have used. And it seems very accurate, gauging by the ice on the dog's dish. UPDATE have been using it almost 2 years still going strong on the initial lithium battery in the transmitter.

First, the ONLY reason to buy this thermometer (as opposed to another thermometer) is because of the Freeze alarm feature.

So lets talk about that ...

The freeze alarm goes off at 32F +/5 degrees. So what really happens. As the temp drops the freeze alarm goes off at 37F. You press the alarm silence button. So far so good.

Now the temp drops to 27F ... the alarm goes off again. Not good, but you silence it. Temp drops some more than warms up to 27F. Alarm goes off again. Continues to warm up through 37F. Alarm goes off AGAIN. Four alarms for ONE freeze event. By now you've had a horrible night sleep.

But wait there's more. Let's say nature isn't perfectly linear and the temp drops to 36.9F (Alarm goes off). Then ten minutes later the temp is 37.1F (Alarm goes off again). Nature continues to vary and the alarm goes off every FEW minutes until you want to throw the thing in the trash.

But I NEED a freeze alarm. And there is NO other inexpensive alarm that I can find in the internet.

So, I drilled a hole in the side and put in a switch from Radio Shack that disconnects the ALARM buzzer. Now when the alarm goes off I ignore the 'alarm' silence button and flip my extra switch OFF and no more alarm. I reset the switch the next time I need the alarm.

This device is a great idea but a horrible application.

I have had this product some time now,it IS actually a good product, bluetooth connects seamlessly, but do note,if you have a password and or lock on your phone you will need to re connect manually everytime.I would suggest the Metra harness kit (minor research at the Metra website will identify your needs quickly),also get the surround kit too, mine is in a 2006 F150 Lariat, wife enjoys watching movies when we go on long journeys, dont advocate it to everyone but earth the brake wire to the unit or neagative and will play while driving.Just saying is all.Now it IS a basic unit so dont expect to download pictures or the like,no background choices and boring display when in radio or cd mode, but ipod works very well as do the headrest monitors those you can buy from Amazon also at a way low price for a pair, equally simple to install..................to finish, for the price point it is a good basic or starter unit. You cannot integrate a cd changer with this unit,it is designed for single use, however there is always ways to add on,I run a multi DVD changer on this and will add a Game Cube too.

November 27th 2011.......................This is an update on this unit, this now lives in a second vehicle and is still going strong, since day one I have had no problems with this unit,I do ALOT of off roading and it takes alot to make this unit "skip",still plays dvd's just fine, still running 2x headrest monitors too, again, without problems no longer have a game cube on this unit,no other reason than its on loan to my friend who has two squabbling sons and she appreciates the silence from the backseat!!!!There is only the SLIGHTEST of ghosting on fast paced games, barely noticable............still run the dvd changer on this unit too,I stand by my initial assessment, this IS a basic unit but reading reviews of much higher $$$$ units, this was and still is a GREAT buy................May 2012..........unit now resides in a Bronco(made a cage to hold it),STILL going strong, not sure, reading other reviews,if I got the best one ever made, but I REALLY have had no trouble with this unit at all and still works as well as it did when it first came out the box!Update.............Aug 2012,sorry to those who asked questions,I am not being rude just am really BAD a checking questions.I apologise. The unit is still running strong and reading other reviews from others less happy,I must have got a great one,I havent had one problem with any functions and still works as good as they first day it went into the first vehicle.I have installed these now into numerous other vehicles for other people and havent had any issue save with one but the warranty doesnt cover a 5 year old pushing a lollipop stick into the CD slot!!!!!!!Once removed and a cd cleaner inserted seems to be working fine.

August 27th 2012...........still going strong,no issues.

I use to have a pioneer avic z1 that was $2k or so new until it was stolen out of my car. For $200 bucks this is not a replacement of what that did, but it is great for the price. The tv clarity is good, but you better have some tinted windows and make the brightness 100% to see anything at day time. Very capable of viewing from different angles and at night time, competes with said pioneer. the radio works fine and i use the remote so i can get to my presets and turn off the display. The display is very blue and quite annoying and cheap looking. The touchscreen works well, the BT is nice as it loads up the phone once the car is started and will allow you to play pandora wirelessly. Sound is good for music, the eq doesnt seem to offer to much range, but it did make me realize i have a stock subwoofer in the trunk. there are a couple of input/output cables for more tv's/ps3 etc. that is nice. ive yet to use any of the other options.

I recommend this for people who would like tv (and add some headrest tvs), BT, and not want to pay for the high end equipment. If i had the money and a garage again, I would go with a pioneer, but since what I have is street parking and lots of bills, this does a great job.

PS Make sure you buy the harness and installation kit right away so you dont have to go around shopping for it later, like this one dumb guy i know

I bought this for my Hyundai Sonata. The price was great given the built in features. So many decks come with "ready" and "compatible" features--which is fancy for "buy them separately."

I installed this myself and couldn't believe how easy it was, however....

You will more than likely need to custom trim the dask kit. This deck face slides out and needs clearance. I had to trim about an 8th of an inch at the top and sides. It came out great with my dremmel tool.

I did another goofy thing and bought the wrong wire harness. I didn't need one for "premium sound" system. I just had to cut the electronic instrument and simply crimped the wires together.

So, for the price, I'd say this is well worth it.

Keep in mind that I have only had it installed and working since Christmas day. Hopefully it will last long. I bought the square-deal three-year warranty just in case!

The LCD screen is pretty dim, but it's okay quality outside of any sunlight. The Bluetooth works surprisingly well. I paired my Nexus One to it and was streaming Pandora in under a min, and it pairs every time I get in range. The DVD works well also. If you have a Ford, you "will" need an antenna adapter. The research I did said you wouldn't, but... For under $200.00 you really can't beat it, so that's why I'm not complaining; however, I would have given it four stars if the screen wasn't so dim. I'm hoping I just didn't hook up the dimmer wire properly or something, so I'm going to have a professional take a look at it when I go pick up my antenna adapter just to make sure.

Bought this for my wifes Hummer H3 and it's a nice unit for the money. Everything functions as advertised and it seems built well. The instruction manual borders on useless and I would recommend ground loop isolators to cut down on alternator whine, but that could just be our vehicle (even with a dedicated chassis ground wire). Bluetooth is slick, DVD player works perfect, MP3 and SD. All in all a good unit and thinking about another one for my truck.
