I have had this slightly over a year. I rarely use it for more than a clock. I have had an old iphone left pluged into it for about 9 months to access the music on it. I went to use it and discovered the the ipod/iphone dock is breaking. I had to push forward on the iphone to get the ihome to recognize it. It seems the weight of the iphone is breaking the dock connection.

For now I have helped fix the problem by using sugru (moldable silicone clay) to create a support that pushed the iphone forward. Could be done with anything though, such as a wad of duck tape, etc. I'll have to see how long this "fix" lasts. An online search revealed a blog with a DIY tutorial on how to order and replace the dock connection.

Remote is also problematic. The remote works to power on and off and change radio stations, but I can no longer get it to change anything else, such as volume or skip track on connect iphone.

Great $80 alarm clock ($80 alarm clock!!) until it just stopped working after 10 months. Stay away from any of these iHome products manufactured by SDI Technologies. The sellers will not honor the warranties as they know these things are pieces of crap. Then best of luck with SDI Technologies lack of customer service.

Surprisingly great sound quality much better than I expected from such a small unit. The music sounds great even if I turn the volume up. The unit is also very easy to program. I have used similar products before (Sony and Panasonic) and have found instructions are often difficult to follow. That's not the case with this product. The unit also synchs with and charges my iPod nice features!! I also love the large display with dimmer, easy timezone adjustment (need this when working from home with international offices), modern design and sturdy craftsmanship.

This is the most frustrating purchase I've made through Amazon. For $80 an alarm clock should work longer than six months. This thing did not. First the iPod function went after about one month and the entire alarm clock went after about five months after that. I have $15 alarm clocks handed down to my from my parents that still work after decades of abuse. I'm never going to buy an iHome product again and strongly recommend you stay away from them, as well.
