these batteries are not in a retail package of any kind. they ship in a mail bag inside an overstuffed box. All the contacts are touching each other. This is no way to sell / distribute retail merchandise. The batteries are not safe after they contacts touch each other. they can short out and/or even leak. Please DO NOT BUY this item unless it has a UPC number and not just an ASIN number. The later is an amazon number. The UPS assures you are getting retail merchandise.

The thicker the pillow speaker, the more it hurts my ears to lay on it. This Pillow Mate speaker is second best because of its thickness, but it seems of good quality. My wife cannot sleep if there is any noise or light in the room, and I cannot sleep without the television turned on. I tried many brands of pillow speakers, and there is only one that really works well, the C. Crane Pillow Speaker PS2. It comes with a soft cover on it, but it works best if you remove it from the cover as it makes the speaker much thinner instead of feeling like a lump under your pillow.

It's cheap, but the Sangean Pillow Speaker is a fat rock under your pillow. I used it for about a year before the cord started shorting out. (This is typical of the lifespan of pillow speakers for me, so I don't count that as a negative.)

The real frustration was the 'dead spots'. Unless you place the speaker in just the right position, the pressure of your head on the speaker will mute the sound. I found myself sleeping with the little rock in my hand under the pillow so it would stay in the right position.

Another point worth mentioning, I had to cut the insulation around the headphone jack to get this speaker to work with my iphone 4 case.

Alternatives:

I have had better luck with the Pillowsonic Stereo Pillow Speaker, which is flatter, cushioned and has two speakers. Of course, it is also twice as expensive. I'm currently using the Relaxso Stereo ASLEEP Pillow Speaker which is slightly more expensive than the Pillowsonic, but is much more comfortable.

The one advantage that the Sangean has over the two listed above is that it has a very long cord. If you decide to try out the Relaxso or Pillowsonic, be sure to look into an extension cord.

I have used pillow speakers for years, but this is the best sounding one that I have ever purchased. It is clear and crisp and I don't have to have the volume up all the way like some others I have owned over the years.

I purchased this alarm clock because I loved the idea of the extra-large time display characters. However, upon setting up the unit and trying to find a radio station with acceptable clarity that it would suffice for a wake-up station, I discovered that this unit is of such poor quality that I can not tune it ANY STATION on the AM or FM mode that is not HORRIBLY distorted by humming and static. Even the oldest, cheapest, pocket radio that I own is able to pick up at least of dozen local radio stations with great clarity. Once I gave up on the wake-up-to-radio-station capability, I tried the default "buzzer" alarm, but found that you can only control the volume of the buzzer with a high/low switch, which, even at the low setting, startles the daylight out of you and has an extremely annoying tone to it. This product is total garbage. Shame on Jensen, which used to be known for high quality speakers. I'd return this to Amazon for the fifteen dollars, but I don't want to even waste my time dealing with this piece of junk.

The radios looked good in the advertisement but found them to be very poor quality. I purchased 2 of these radios to put in guest bedrooms and neither radio worked properly. There was no clear reception to any radio station FM or AM, and the tuning knobs didn't work properly. Don't waste even a dollar on these!

We needed a clock near our TV / Entertainment system that was easily readable day or night. This is perfect! It's easy to read in the full light of the day, and it's super easy to see, yet not over distracting at night time. It's so both we and our kids know what time it is and easily with just a glance. "Do you know how long you've been playing on the xbox!?" we can now say with some authority. "It's 15 minutes past your bed time!" is another.

The green numbers were a plus as I feel they're easier on the eyes, especially at night. And the green matches most of our other components mostly-green lights.

That being said, I can't rate this item for it's alarm, nor it's radio. I haven't tried either at all.

I would never use this as a bedroom clock. It's too bright for that. I need total darkness.

For what we bought it for it works perfectly!

Hifolks ,I'm Vince the radioman . I have a large collection of radios and love to do compares and share my thoughts. First off the new Eton(Grundig) line of radios is a vast improvement over the old Grundig line , especially in the area of the construction of the body and antenna..nice job! This is a cute little radio . A nice addition to the better mini's out there. It has a robust memory and decent coverage but not full coverage . I compared it to the Sangean ATS606 and the SONY SW35 which are in the same price range and the old YB300pe. The 606 and the SW35 were more sensative on SW and AM . The FM was about the same. The YB300pe was not even in the same class as the others. It has a nice back light and comfortable controls and basic feel . Its really small and great for travel or the office . It does however need an wide/narrow switch and or an IF filter ... none the less and very decent , well made mini addtion to the new Eton line . I recommend buying this radio. .... a previous reviewer talks about the demise of SW listening ...I also grew up during the cold war and at the time SW was "exciting" and filled with info not available elsewhere. Lets just hope satellite and cable service hits a peak soon ...I have a feeling the world has not really explored the wonders of the radio spectrum and will again build up SW usage , also I have a feeling Pirate radio will grow on SW as the alternative to robot like satellite programing. ....so if you do want to invest alot of money on a SW radio but want some access , this is a very nice choice.

This compact am/fm/sw radio is nicer than I expected. The radio's size is ideal for pockets, so I frequently take it with me. Currently I'm using up some excess alkaline AA batteries in my E100, but when they are gone, I will switch to rechargeable NiMH batteries. (There's a system code you should set on the radio when switching between alkaline and rechargeable batteries be sure to check the manual)

Positives:

* FM stereo through headphones sounds great

* Informative LCD display includes the frequency and the time while the radio is on (some other radios require a keypress to display the clock)

* Nice amber backlight for the LCD display

* Sturdy whip antenna

* It seems to be very easy on batteries

Negatives:

* Shortwave scanning using the up/down buttons is slower than on other shortwave radios I've used (e.g. Kaito 1102, Sony ICF-SW7600GR) the radio pauses on each frequency longer than necessary

* Small buttons are occasionally difficult to press

* Tuning knob is only capable of fine tuning, i.e. it uses small tuning intervals and doesn't work as well if you try turning it very fast

I wouldn't recommend this radio as your only shortwave receiver, but only because other radios in this price range have more features. My example would be the excellent Kaito KA1102, which offers features such as dual conversion, a wide/narrow bandwidth setting, single sideband reception, an included AC adapter, faster shortwave scanning, and backlighting for both the screen and keypad.

Please understand that this radio is NOT a DXer's radio. It lacks single side band (listening to hams and utility stations) and dual conversion circuitry (image rejection). However, it is a superb radio for listening to major broadcasters such as the BBC World Service or Radio Canada International. It is very small (about the size of a pack of cigarettes) and only requires two AA batteries. The signal/battery life indicator are handy features. It is also has very good weak signal sensitivity. If you are looking for a small, basic radio that DOES cover the full SW spectrum, then this radio is a good buy.

I just got this radio. Just like CJ Green reported, this little radio has exceptionally good reception. I work in a metal building. This radio picks up AM stations that no other radios I tried could.

I highly recommend it to any who has a similar need.

My collection of radios continues to grow, and the E100 is the most recent addition. I bought it because there's a lot of features built into such a small package.

This radio will easily fit into a pocket or briefcase, yet it allows you to access AM, FM and pretty much the full range of shortwave bands. It has a clock with alarm, snooze feature, 200 presets (although I can't imagine ever using more than 50), battery strength indicator, signal strength indicator, and more.

The AM (MW) band pulls in stations well using the internal ferrite rod antenna. The telescoping whip works well for both FM and SW, but I sometimes attach one of those 23' portable wire antennas to more clearly pull in weaker SW stations.

Battery life (2 AA's) seems to be very good, and the internal speaker puts out clear sound, although as you can imagine it isn't going to be room-filling. The earbuds work very well.

At about 100 bucks street price, it ain't cheap, but when you pick it up it looks and feels like quality work.

when you look at the image, you see Perry the platypus, what you can't see is he is tied to a rocket with a time bomb. i'm reluctant to rate it because i haven't plugged it in yet.

The product was very cute BUT the cord came apart within a few weeks of receiving the product so the clock is worthless. It didn't have the ability to use with batteries. To sum it up the clock is JUNK. I had bought it for my grandson but by the time I got it from him to see if I could get it to work the 30 day return policy was over. It was expensive and definitely a waste of money.

You can charge your ipod and listen when this unit is plugged into the wall, or listen with just batteries. The sound is crisp and clean, but don't expect any real bass. For that reason alone, I don't use these speakers anymore. These are small speakers so you can't crank 'em up super loud but they are loud enough. You can plug any audio device into the headphone jack plug-in on the back. The alarm makes a beeping sound that a heavy sleeper, might just sleep through.

Bought two of these so I could listen to either my iPod or the radio in various rooms of my house. For the money, it's a pretty decent and versatile unit. Sounds quality with the iPod is okay...you won't mistake it for an audiophile-grade product, but for $45, it's acceptable. AM radio sound quality could be better though. Tuning the radio in is a bit of a pain, but once you have the presets configured, it's not much of an issue. The unit does keep presets, even after being unplugged. The included remote works fine, as do the included AM and FM antennas, but as others have stated, the wall wart power supply is a little larger than normal.

The fact that it also has a AUX input port on the back means that these units could provide a cheap way to wire many of them all up to a central audio source and have music playing throughout your house. I may very well give this a try.

I picked up this unit during an exhaustive search for a good home iPod dock. I was pleasantly surprised by its good sound, features and appearance for the price. For starters it plays/charges nice with the iPhone 4 (even in a bumper case). It also has a great FM and AM radio with 5 presets, a line-in option and a remote.

The speaker is best suited for a small room; I have it in the bathroom and it's great for morning or evening getting ready music or news. There's no clock, so this is NOT for those looking for a bedside alarm. The included AC wall plug is a bit large, but it's not heavy and it doesn't block the other outlet in my experience. The unit produces a surprising amount of bass, and has decent mid-range sound (there's no EQ but it's not really needed).

This is a good option if you're looking for a sub-$100 iPhone/iPod dock + radio for the home.

This kitchen radio looks nice, but is TERRIBLE! I installed the radio to then find out that it does not pick up any station clearly, no matter the location in my kitchen or entire house for that matter. Additionally, the stations it did pick up were more than 50 mHz away from the indicated station. This radio is a disgrace to all radios. My $5 clock radio killed it self so it would not have to share any of the same stations with this piece of junk. Do not buy this kitchen radio. Do not even look at it. Stop it. Stop looking at it...

I am very disappointed with this product...the CD player broke very quickly. I only used it occassionally in the kitchen, maybe two or three times a week in the mornings. So no extended use, and it still broke within about 3 months. The warranty covers it for 90 days, and you have to prepay $7 to get it returned back to you after providing all the needed documentation. Definitely not worth the time or frustration....do yourself a favor and spend the little extra to get a better quality CD/Radio player....

This is one of the cheapest sounding pieces of crap that I've ever heard. I can't believe I drilled 4 wholes into the bottom of my cabinet to hang it only to take it down and put my 30 year old radio with a cassette player in it back up. I think I gave $5.99 for it when I bought that thing. I really need to just send it back.

This is the worst piece of garbage I have ever held in my hands. The first one I sent to me did not receive AM stations. 'Sorry if this is not important to you. I purchased this for my parents' kitchen so they could hear the news while having breakfast. FM had poor reception but worked to a marginally acceptable level. I never tried the CD player. Unit number one was returned. Unit number two arrives today and the AM works but it is HORRIBLE. I am in New York City (not in farm country) and every radio I own can receive numerous major stations without hash or static noise. Not this radio. Unlistenable due to interference, no matter where the unit is placed, or how it is oriented. I literally have a 40 year old AM/FM table radioi that blows this piece of junk out of the water. If AM listening is of any importance to you you will be disappointed. Oh yeah, and all this AFTER I drilled mounting holes in a kitchen cabinet. Shame on me -I should have tried the radio before drilling, but I didn't think it'd be a total piece of crap.

This Internet radio is not the newest piece on Revo's product line. I have a black colored one, around 3 years of age continuous use, never ever experienced a problem. Before buying it I was aware of one problem noted by other user in form of a customer review: the display might begins to vibrate instead of glowing blue. I was lucky for the past by, but had to recognize the same issue applies to my iBlik too, no exception :-) the display when the unit is turned on acts like a strobe light. Reception, wi-fi connection is O.K. at the moment.
