The Sharp DK-A1 is a solid choice if looking for a way to play your I-pod externally. The positives include: very good sound. My sister has the Bose sound system for her I-pod which costs over twice as much from what I paid, but does not sound any better. The Sharp casts very deep, full sound, with lots of base for such a small unit. The E-sound button magnifies the bass nicely, but will become distorted, if the sound is too loud with it on. The illuminated blue lights are a nice touch and look great at night. The general design is nicely laid out. The negatives are: Limited range with the remote. I can only use the remote if I am within 6 ft of the console. In addition I am unable to change the play lists from the remote. It will only control the sound level and allow you to change the songs from the same play lists. I would have liked if this system had a handle to carry it from room to room and had a built in antenna, rather than the external wires which are a nuance to disconnect and reconnect when moving the system. The display panel in the front of the unit only says I-pod when the I-pod is in use, rather than display the artist and song playing. You need to look at the display of the I-pod to get this information which isn't nearly as visible as the display on the unit. Also, the AM radio only gets adequate reception. In general, I do recommend the Sharp DK-A1 as it does deliver very good sound at an affordable price but wish it had better thought out features.

I listened to a lot of docking stations before settling on this one. I started with the one I thought would have no peers the big "B" brand speaker. As I moved along in my search, the Sharp DKA1 had the bass sound that came closest to the big brand name docking station. Most other copycat brands sounded tinny. In addition to the DKA1 having rich, deep tones to complement the highs and mid-range sound, it has a built-in clock and an AM/FM radio with 40 presets. And the price for all of this is much less than the big brand item. It's the most bang-for-the-buck of any docking station available today based on my comparison with nearly 20 competitive products.

For the current price listed on Amazon ($289) you'd be better off getting a BOSE Sound dock in my opinion.

But if you can get this unit for much less like I just did, it's a solid little unit. It looks and sounds great.

I received this radio as a retirement gift (chose it from a catalog) from my company. The sound is good, but don't expect it to keep the correct time. After setting the time, it automatically goes back to 12:00 once you turn on the radio. I have returned this radio twice, and received radios back with the same exact problem. The distributor realizes the problem (said he has had other complaints with the same problem), and even contacted the Home Office folks in Germany. They realize there is a problem, but don't know how to fix it. I was told by the distributor yesterday in an email that there is nothing more he can do. For the price of these radios, you would think they would have gotten this issue cleared up, and/or offer a different model in return (I told them I would pay any extra costs involved). It's not often that a manufacturer's responses are this disappointing. Stay away from Sonoro.

As I said in the title, the unit looks great and sounds really good (for a table top radio). However, there are a couple of things that really bug me: 1) you have to set the clock manually which is lame considering all other modern internet radios can fetch time and set the clock automatically...why can't this unit do it? 2) it is a multi-step process to switch from FM to iRadio and the presets are distinct between the two...i'd rather have preset 1 be an FM station and preset 2 be an iRadio station but presets can't switch between the various input/media/source types. 3) Beware of how non-intuitive Reciva is (the internet service that Sonoro uses to setup iRadio stations, streams, pandora, etc.) -it takes quite a time to get used to the site.

Good luck...with patience, it can be quite a nifty radio.

Absolutely worth every penny. The sound quality is incredible for what I consider to be a bedside radio... The internal antennae is amazingly powerful as far as FM goes. My former bedside radio was a Tivoli, but it had to have an external antennae for most stations...not the Sonoro. Love everything about it!! iRadio rocks....switches from a station in Croatia to a Station in Instanbul in a heartbeat. Not a single negative on this purchase!

Memorex Projection Alarm Clock Radio AM/FM

After spending the night at the home of a friend who had a projection alarm clock, I decided I had to get one myself. I tried 5 different clocks before settling on this one. This clock is compact with a small footprint (about 4.25" x 2.5"), so it should fit easily on even small nightstands. The clock display on the front of the clock is red and emits enough light to easily read the time, but isn't overly bright like some other clocks I tried. Setting the time and alarm on this clock is very intuitive; you won't need the manual.

The projected display clock is independent from the clock on the front of the unit and they must be set separately. The projected display hits the sweet spot in terms of luminosity; it emits enough light for you to easily read the clock on your ceiling at night, but not so much as to create a lot of ambient light in your bedroom. I measured the display from several distances and determined that the projected digits are about 5/8" or 1.5 cm tall per foot of projected distance (for example, if there's 8 feet of distance between the clock and the point on the ceiling where the projected image is focused, then the digits will be roughly 5" or 12 cm tall). In my opinion, this is just the right size; if it were much smaller then near-sighted individuals might have difficulty reading it without eye-glasses (and not many people wear eye-glasses to bed), and if it were much bigger it would produce more ambient light. A switch on the right side of the clock allows you to disable the projection feature.

The clock also appears to be of decent quality; the plastic housing seems durable but doesn't feel cheap, the buttons on the front have a good tactile feel, the mechanism for rotating the projector feels solid. The projection unit has two swivel points. When the alarm invokes, it will sound for one hour before shutting off; the snooze interval is 5 minutes. The snooze button is small, but it is slightly raised above the clock's housing, so it is easy to locate; I had no problems with it. The volume control on the side of the clock controls the radio volume, but not the buzzer. The buzzer has a set volume, which I would say also hits a sweet spot; it's loud enough to wake you, but not so loud that it jars you awake or bother someone in an adjacent bedroom. You can also choose to awake to the radio instead of the buzzer.

The photo on the retail box shows the clock display with red digits on a black background. Usually, however, the digits and the background both appear red, with the digits being a brighter red. Whether the background appears red or black depends on what angle from which you are viewing the clock and also the amount of ambient light in the room (check out the photos that I posted). This is NOT an atomic clock and will NOT auto-set the time; you must manually set the time. You can install a battery to maintain the time during power outages; it uses a coin-shaped 3V CR2032 battery. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this clock.

Prior to buying this clock, I also tried four other projection clocks, and the Memorex MC0931BK was the best one. Some of the other clocks I tried were the Magnasonic MM178 (display on the clock's front was so bright it was like having a bright night-light in the room), the Craig CR45365 (alarm only buzzes for 60 seconds so you might sleep through it, and the projected digits were ridiculously large) and the Hip Street HS-CRP329 (poor build quality and the one I got had a defect in the projection unit).

Good little unit, numbers projected are nice and big. All the functions work as advertized. It does everything it states that it will do. It does not take up much space, you will need a flat battery for the back up it does not come with one. I had one on hand that worked so didn't have to make a trip to the store just for that. They should send flat little battery with it,just one of those little things that we customers just shake our heads at. The set up was easy, the buttons on the projection arm (projection arm is setup by itself, the main unit has its own setup)are hard if you have big hands. Overall form,function and price all good its a winner in my opinon.

The reception isn't very good. I had been using a "cheap" $15 model I'd bought at Best Buy. The reason I wanted to replace it was because the reception wasn't good...lots of static no matter where I put it in the bathroom, even by an open window. Well I went up quite a bit in price and picked a really good brand but am having same problems. Not very good reception, lots of static. But it will have to do for now. Eventually I'll find one that works well!

I am a college student who was in desperate need of a new cell phone after my old one stopped working. Because of that I wanted to buy a phone truly worth the money, and one that would last.

For someone who isn't willing to pay for 3G service, but still wants internet, and a modern looking phone, THIS is the perfect cell phone. Phones like this are very hard to come by because most do require data packages (the ones considered smartphones anyway). I can't say how it compares to a smartphone having never owned one, but for someone like me it's perfect.

WIFI! Can I stress how important this is? It's probably the best feature of the phone. Wi-Fi is pretty much everywhere nowadays, so why buy a smartphone when you can get a phone with Wi-Fi capabilities for a much lower price, and without having to buy a data plan?

I've had it for about 3 weeks now and I have absolutely no complaints. The battery lasts about 3-4 days and that's with a good number of hours using it (mostly texting or listening to music).

So if you want to buy something definitely worth the money that not only functions great but LOOKS great, this is the phone for you. Best $120 I ever spent!

First off I love the phone after I got everything figured out. Basically all I had to do was pop my sim card out of my existing (AT&T Customer) phone and I was good to go, sort of! lol From that point I could call my contacts, send text messages, and even connect to the internet via wifi. Now the problems I discovered shortly there after was it connected to the wifi but could not go to any webpages because it would time out. It would not even go to the nokia pre-loaded store icon on the phone. Well, I could tell that there was settings not configured somewhere because it is unlocked for different carriers and needed at&t settings entered. Another problem I encountered was I could send text and recieve them just fine but could not recieve or send pictures with text messages succesfully. That was aggrevating because I could do that with my old phone just fine, but not this one. I found the solutions to fix these problems on-line after searching for awhile. So if you want these problems fixed here they are:

When you first pick up the Nokia C3, you can think that you have a modern looking full QWERTY Blackberry. It is a cool looking phone, with a very easy to use keyboard.

Its light weight, so it dosent feel heavy in your pocked, has great battery life. The sound clarity is good, as is the camera. Its not a high end camera phone, but its pictures are just as clear as my old 8900.

It dosent compare with the high end smart phones like the new Blackberries or HTC androids, but for the $160 range that its in, it certainly gives you that expensive look, and is a great email/messaging device.

Firstly, it's a great price for an unlocked phone that can be used with AT&T, TMobile, prepaid, and any other GSM (SIM card) service providers worldwide. I'm not going to repeat the technical specifications. It is very light, portable and has excellent battery life. You can talk for a really long time. Make sure to turn off WIFI when it's not being used. This phone is perfect for everyday use, or as a backup or a second phone. I love the FM radio.

It also makes a decent gift.

I would recommend it over any carrier branded phone. It is always cheaper in the long run to get an unsubsidized phone.

This is a great product. It's small, but feels solid in your hand. Has a GREAT battery. I text a lot and I was used to having to charge my battery daily. With this phone, the battery lasts AT LEAST two days, and that's with heavy texting and limited internet usage. Well constructed. Shows conversational style text. You can attach ringtones and photos to your contacts. You can set up recurring appointments. It has an alarm which works really well. You can use up to an 8GB micro SD card with it. If you have AT&T service (which I do) you need to know how to configure it so that you can receive multimedia (picture) messages and access the internet. I have the instructions for the configuration, which I will enter below. I would highly recommend this phone to anyone who wants a good phone, but doesn't want to pay for a 'smart phone'. You can get unlimited data (internet) usage for $10/month (again, AT&T) versus $25/month for what they consider to be a 'smart phone'. Okay, it isn't blazing fast on the internet (uses Edge rather than 3G or 4G), but it's fast enough for me. I don't actually use it for the internet a lot because I prefer to use my computer for that. Multimedia messaging works great. It does everything I want it to do and I've been used to using the Samsung Blackjack II and Jack. I've been a cell phone user since 1995. This radio arrived (and was set up) two days before very heavy thunderstorms with hail and high winds hit my area. It was early evening and the weather looked sunny and clear outside, when this thing goes off for no apparent reason. I thought it was a mistake or false alarm, but when I turned on the cable weather channel the radar showed a huge thunder storm rapidly forming in the West and moving my way. It's very late in the Spring season right now for a storm like this and I wasn't expecting any harsh weather. I had time to get the cars under cover, find the cat & put her inside and bring in the outdoor furniture cushions before the storm hit. In our neighborhood, we lost some big limbs a few trees and some cars were damaged by hail. Fortunately, I had no damage.

The instructions are not very complicated and the set-up was much, much easier than that required for a VCR or TIVO. It has battery back-up in case the power goes off and doesn't take up a lot of space on the night stand or dresser. Also, you can program which alerts you want to hear and limit the alerts to those applicable to only the County you live in. This really cuts down on unnecessary alarms. For example, though we are in an area that can have flash floods, I don't need this warning because I don't go out in heavy rain or flooding anyway. A warning about a storm only is sufficient. I think I might get this radio as a gift for some elderly friends and relatives of mine. It's a good and very unobtrusive watchdog.

This radio can be programmed not to sound alerts which are unimportant to me. For example, I don't want to hear flash flood warnings as I am not in an area prone to flooding. Basically, what I really want are tornado warnings when issued for three specific counties in Tennessee and one county in Kentucky. This radio can do that. (There are some alerts which cannot be blocked, but these are rare, for example a chemical hazard warning.)

The radio is fairly easy to program. It took me about 30 minutes to get everything the way I wanted it. It runs on AC power and has backup power provided by 4 AA batteries (not included). Overall, I rate this as a very effective, well-designed product, and I have just purchased some additional units for friends.

This little unit is easy to set up and has the SAME functionality which is important to me since I didn't want to hear warnings for places that weren't near to me. Other units I looked at had extra options like AM/FM radio but I didn't need those features. I just wanted something that would wake me up if a tornado was coming my way. This will warn you of many other things and you can set what you want to be notified about. Follow the instructions, it's pretty easy. It also will take rechargeable NiMH or Ni-Cad batteries and keep them charged. Or, you can switch it to accept Alkaline. The battery backup is important to have. Great unit, no complaints.

Let's get to the point. What you want in a weather radio is for it to work when it's supposed to and be easy to set up. This one does that. I have programmed a Midland WR-300 for my In-Laws, and it was a long winded pain. They still can't figure out how to use it. I own an Oregon Scientific WR-103... an equal P.I.T.A. to set up, and you can't shut off the weekly test siren, which is an irritant to us day sleepers. You also can't mute the frigging beeps each time a button is pressed. Surely someone can come up with a more pleasant tone for this purpose.

Anyway, the First Alert is really easy to set up, and much more intuitive to use. I can mute the weekly test siren, and still the radio will notify me through the display if recent tests have failed. I can mute the irritating button beeps, and easily select which alerts I want to hear. This radio also holds your settings even without power, so you never have to reprogram after the first time. It has battery power in the event of power loss, and it will even charge the on board batteries when plugged in, alkaline or NiMH. You will appreciate that feature if you've ever had a radio that lost it's settings during a power outage.

What makes this radio deal even sweeter is that it's almost half the price here than it is at the Shack. Buy this one!

I've had the 'First Alert Public Alert Radio with S.A.M.E' for about two months now and it continues to surprise me in a good way! I had been using an ancient hand sized portable alert radio for the last 8 years and this is a HUGE improvement.

Pros:

SAME technology that works. Not being woken up for a severe thunderstorm on the other side of the state is priceless.

When an alert activates the radio, the tone sounds, the alert plays, and then the radio returns to standby until the watch/warning is updated. However, a light continues to flash red or orange depending on the type of alert. This is a really nice feature I have a dog that would be driven nuts by the sound so I always had to turn my old radio off when I left for work and then reprogram everything when I got home. I can leave this radio plugged in and programmed.

Easy to understand features/directions as long as you read the owners manual (for me it took about 10 minutes total for set-up).

You can deactivate alerts. I live in MN and am not all that concerned about Hurricanes. :-) The alerts I do have programmed function beautifully.

Nice size. Smaller than my CD alarm clock and reception comes in loud and clear without the antennae up.

You have the ability to turn OFF the tone that sounds whenever you push a button. Surprisingly, this was one of the main reasons I chose this unit over its competitors.

Decent volume control on the lowest setting I can hear the alert throughout my single level townhome.

Cons:

While I like the size, I do wish that it was a tad smaller. This is just my personal preference (and a sign of how much I like it) since having it slightly smaller would allow me to bring it camping.

The system stores several alert messages, allowing you to scroll through them if say you missed one while you were at work. A 'delete' button would have been very handy (like an answering machine).

Overall, I give the unit a solid 4.5/5 stars. It has great features (though I think there's always room for improvement) and it's a fairly inexpensive way to gain peace of mind.

Bought two of these so I could listen to either my iPod or the radio in various rooms of my house. For the money, it's a pretty decent and versatile unit. Sounds quality with the iPod is okay...you won't mistake it for an audiophile-grade product, but for $45, it's acceptable. AM radio sound quality could be better though. Tuning the radio in is a bit of a pain, but once you have the presets configured, it's not much of an issue. The unit does keep presets, even after being unplugged. The included remote works fine, as do the included AM and FM antennas, but as others have stated, the wall wart power supply is a little larger than normal.

The fact that it also has a AUX input port on the back means that these units could provide a cheap way to wire many of them all up to a central audio source and have music playing throughout your house. I may very well give this a try.

I picked up this unit during an exhaustive search for a good home iPod dock. I was pleasantly surprised by its good sound, features and appearance for the price. For starters it plays/charges nice with the iPhone 4 (even in a bumper case). It also has a great FM and AM radio with 5 presets, a line-in option and a remote.

The speaker is best suited for a small room; I have it in the bathroom and it's great for morning or evening getting ready music or news. There's no clock, so this is NOT for those looking for a bedside alarm. The included AC wall plug is a bit large, but it's not heavy and it doesn't block the other outlet in my experience. The unit produces a surprising amount of bass, and has decent mid-range sound (there's no EQ but it's not really needed).

This is a good option if you're looking for a sub-$100 iPhone/iPod dock + radio for the home.

I bought 2 of these radios. They both arrived damaged. One had a loose antenna and a missing antenna screw. The other had a cracked case. The internal packaging had been previously opened and they had obviously been returned by someone else and re-shipped to me. i returned them for a refund. I bought them because of a low price, but they are really cheap quality. Suggest spending a few more dollars and buying a better quality radio.

This company must not have any quality control to allow this radio to leave the factory. Straight out of the box with new batteries installed, the display failed to work.
