I had been tracking iPod speakers for over 4 months now, and I saw that not one had all the features I wanted. And even if they did, the cons always made me wait for more.

I came across this one at FRYs and decided to give it a shot, since I could always return it in case it didnt match up to my expectations.

But I must say this piece is simply awesome. A fully functional remote (u can browse through the entire iPod menus from it), FM radio, dual alarms with gradually increasing beeper (u can wake to beeper, radio or iPod), Aux input, audio/video output to ur TV and above all crisp and satisfyingly loud sound. It also has bases for all the older iPods.

I can even operate the alarms and radio from the remote. Imagine switching off that pesky alarm using a remote!!

The only con (if it is) is that the remote isnt very responsive to the iPod all the time, and I need to press more than once occasionally to make it work. But then I can bear it given the remote is so small.

I purchased this because I wanted the ability to wake up each day to whatever music I wanted. Too many times I have been awoken by some annoying song on the radio that inevitably remained in my head all day. Plus, I really liked the idea of the sound gradually increasing in volume so there is no jolt of sound. I read the reviews and thought I was making the informed choice. Boy, was I wrong! Firstly, two different days the alarm didn't even go off at the assigned time (yes, it was set properly, I read directions!). Actually turning the alarm off is not at all easy and the directions don't actually inform you as to how. But really the biggest reason for returning is the light is so bright that I had to cover it with a post it note to darken the room Even when it was set on the dimmest setting it was brighter than a night light. Also, the unit seems so cheap. The buttons wobble, and they seem like they really aren't even metal. I returned this and purchased the iluv alarm clock, and couldn't be happier. You even have the ability to turn the light completely off!

I spent countless hours searching for the perfect iPod dock, and despite this product had no reviews at the time, I decided to risk it and purchase the product. I am very pleased with this product, being that it does everything I wanted from a dock and so much more. The sound quality is fantastic and all the features make this product the perfect choice (features such as a radio, dual alarm settings, the ability to wake to any song of your choice from your iPod, gradual wake, full functionality remote, sleek design, 10 radio preset slots, and something the description doesn't tell you if your alarm is set to play your iPod and you forget to dock the darn thing, that's ok, the dock will automatically beep for your alarm to make sure you get up in time). There are only two things that bug me: the ipod is unresponsive to the remote every once and a while, and the backlight on the clock is way too bright even on the lowest setting, however, this is the price to pay for such a great product.

I'm a very deep sleeper and was recently looking for a good alarm clock to ensure that I wake up every day in time for work or whatever I may be doing that day. I've gone with the smaller travel alarm clocks and it's kind of hit or miss for me. Sometimes they wake me up, but other times, I either sleep right through the monotonous buzzing or hit snooze several times until I'm late.I decided that the next alarm clock I'd get would be the last. I researched several and while some were loud enough, I knew that the buzzing or radio might not work because I won't wake up to a commercial either. The iLive is perfect for me because it doubles as an iPod dock. I can upload my favorite songs and that's what I've been waking up to. It's got a good volume range and a decent set of speakers, so not hearing it is no longer an issue. There are two alarms that you can set to iPod, radio, or generic alarm. I usually set the iPod for alarm one and then the generic for fifteen minutes later on two but haven't needed the second one yet. There is a well-lit blue display that's easy to read from anywhere in the room so you never have to strain to see what time it is. Setting the time and alarms is simple and intuitive, so anyone can use it. I love my iLive alarm and would recommend it to anyone who wants to wake up to their favorite music every morning.

The "gradual volume increase" on the alarm is nothing you can call gradual. The radio starts low and is such a high level before you can even have a chance to turn the volume down you must do this before you hit snooze or you will wake up your entire neighborhood. I have been unable to get any customer service on this unit. Pretty disappointed overall.

This worked perfectly in my 2005 Toyota Corolla. It goes right with the car and makes the radio look perfect. It puts a 1-DIN radio in a 2-DIN space, and bevels right with the Toyota design making it look kind of like an original design rather than an add-on. The only thing that I would have added to their design if I had had the chance is instructions for the car model it is designed for. While it is easy to find various versions of directions for the Toyota Corolla on the internet, there is no way to know the quality of the instructions you find. The radio that I bought had a service for looking up various car models' directions online, but then, in the end, that database was incomplete, and I had to rely on one of the high school kid's postings found with Google. Since this dash kit is made specificially for that car model, this is the most logical part with which to include the directions. Oh, by the way, I will give you the directions, here:

Disconnect the battery just to be extra safe. (Some people cite airbag accidental release problems, but I do not think that that is a risk.) Carefully pry off the shifter cover. It takes only steady pressure. Disconnect the cigarette lighter/charger to get the panel out of the way. Remove the center A/C knob, and remove the screw. Then pry off the clock A/C cover. Again, slow steady pressure. Pry off the radio cover. You guessed it: slow steady pressure. The radio is secured with 4 hex screws, 10mm if I recall correctly. They are deep, so you need a long hex driver (and maybe a magnet). They fall and get lost easily. If they do, you might be able to find them on the carpet or by reaching back around things.

The dash kit comes with instructions for mounting it on the radio. You should strongly consider a wire harness Metra 70-1761 Radio Wiring Harness For Toyota 87-Up Power 4 Speaker. It makes it easy to disconnect the radio, later. After the radio is tested, reverse the operations, above. Good luck!

I bought this dash kit along with Sony CDX-GT630UI and Scosche TA02B Wiring Harness (all from Amazon.com) for a installation in my 03' Toyota Corolla. I have never installed a car stereo before, and was a bit apprehensive about doing it myself, but decided to give it a try. The unit's color is a bit off, but not too obvious, and the fit could be a bit better. The instruction that came with the unit is at best marginal, and I had to Google quite a bit to get sufficient information I needed to take the front panels off to install the unit. However, after two hour of hard work, I am very happy to say that everything works great. I am also glad that I decided to do this on my own. The total cost was about $125. A car stereo shop nearby wanted $300 to turn my factory installed Toyota stereo (which I think everyone would agree isn't that great) iPod compatible, so I feel like doing this myself was a great decision. You will need some tools: I found out only after taking the front panels off that I would need at least 10" socket extension to remove the stereo housing. But if you are relatively okay with using tools, I recommend doing it yourself and saving yourself a bit of money.

Great product. Very good design and build quality, easy assembly. This must be the professional installer choice (which I'm not). But being an Industrial engineer, I frequently see where products can be improved. This one just has two things missing, 1) At least (4) Flat Head M5 3/8" screws for fixing the radio to the ISO brackets, as you can't use the ones from the stock radio, those are hex type head. The other thing is, a hole in the mounting brackets, aligned with one of the radio and ISO bracket holes, so you can permanent fix the radio to the kit, I did make the hole myself, it's not a big deal, but you have to take precise measurements. This came to my mind when inserting the back plug, the radio slide out from the kit easily. It's not complete necessarily, but I like the things tight and secured. Other thing, don't forget to order the Turbowire kit 70-1761, this will make your electrical installation very easy, even the radio manufacturers recommend this Metra hardness kit.

This kit fits really well in my 2005 Corolla CE, and was extremely easy to put together, fits well, and the price was great. The only problem with it was that because of the way the bottom compartment is constructed, it doesn't sit 100% flush with the console. Don't get me wrong, it looks good, and I'm satisfied with it, its just that there is a very small gap between the bottom of the compartment and the surrounding trim. I know these kinds of things would annoy some people, so I figured I'd mention it. But all in all, its a great product, and I am very happy with it.

I purchased this model for my Nissan Versa without doing any homework on it...a local store was offering free installation along with a sale price, and I noticed it had a front panel USB connector so I was hoping it would play my MP3 files from a flash drive. I wasn't expecting much in terms of quality and features...I figured I didn't need to spend a lot of money since I would be using the 4 pre-wired door speakers that came with my car. To say I was blown away by the sound would be an understatement...I can only imagine what this would sound like with a nice speaker setup. In any case, here's my take on the good and the not-so-good.

Pros: Detaching the faceplate is easy. Attaching it can be a bit tricky, but with a little practice most

should be able to get it on in under 20 seconds.

It's loaded with many of the same features of Sony's higher-priced players. There are several

ways to locate a specific track when playing CD-Rs or USB devices containing a lot of files.

While playing regular audio CDs sounds amazing, this unit really shines in its ability to make

compressed (MP3) audio sound as good as the real thing; an improved sound processor

(compared to the model it replaced), a feature called Digital Music Plus Advanced, plus a

customizable equalizer all combine to give your data files excitement you've likely never heard

before.

For FM radio stations that comply with the standard, the Radio Data System (RDS) will provide

song information, help you find particular types of stations (News, Sports, Top 40, Rock, etc.),

and can even set the clock for you. The radio can also store the stronger stations

automatically (BTM), but I prefer setting them manually...otherwise, you'll end up with a lot of

presets you're not interested in.

Although I can't comment on its capabilities with an iPod, it does play my USB flash drives

without a hitch and has several shuffle and repeat play options.

Cons: The user interface and manual could be confusing and frustrating for some. Most of the

buttons and the dial have to control multiple functions, so finding your way around the different

features and displays requires patience and learning. I still find myself accidentally

changing a setting I didn't want to or just plain getting stuck. Since the displays are different

depending on the source (CD, Tuner, USB, Aux-in) selected and how much information is

contained in the source, you won't always see what you might expect to see.

The preset buttons are smaller than I would like. Some, like the source/off button and the

seek+ button, are together (like one big button), and it's easy to push the wrong one. The

included remote doesn't seem to help control the unit any better and doesn't include the

ability to access all of the track finding features. It seems best suited for a backseat

passenger.

Whether it's day or night, you may run into a problem seeing everything clearly. The blue key

illumination takes care of the buttons while driving at night, but the printed lettering above the

keys is almost impossible to read. During the day, bright sunlight can cause glare problems

and wash out the LCD display (in certain vehicles).

When Daylight Saving Time ended Nov. 1st, even though I had the unit set up to automatically

change the clock, I had to go back into the setup menu, turn it off, then turn it back on again

before the time reset itself (at least it was accurate).

When using the Zappin feature to hear short clips of songs to find a track to play, you have to

wait about 2 seconds in between each preview on a regular audio CD and at least 5 or 6

seconds on an MP3 Data Disc or USB flash drive loaded with songs.

For me, the pros far outweigh the cons...after all, you don't have to use all the bells and whistles just because they are there. The sound quality of the CD player and music played through the USB port is outstanding, and anyone desiring more from the radio at least has the option of expanding to HD or SAT radio. I recommend this receiver for anyone (including audiophiles), as it offers tremendous bang for the buck.

You DONT need an iPod to use many of the USB input features. I'm using a tiny 2GB Lexar FireFly jump drive in the USB portwhich is available through Amazon for about $12. I have loaded it with music and podcast mp3s using Windows Media Player.

I use the Sony controls to scroll through the contents of the flash drive, and can see the name of the Album or file, track name etc displayed. It would be easy to create playlists on the usb to make it even easier to use.

This means the total music "baggage" I need in the car with me is one one inch jump drive; no CDs, no expensive ipod or music player and cables to attract thieves.

I am doing a resto-mod 1977 Chrysler Cordoba and wanted to replace the stock AM/FM monoural radio with a modern unit at a price that wouldn't break the bank.

This is a FULL featured unit. The speakers are responsive, crisp. I paired them with the corresponding rear SONY 6x9 speakers and installed it myself in a day.

The controls do take a bit of getting used to like anything else but after awhile it becomes second nature.

My only complaint if you will are the small function knobs which can be difficult to find while you're driving. They are also placed close together so it is easy to inadvertently select the wrong function.

Other than that, as I said in my title an AWESOME unit for the price.

Lets start with the three cons of both models:

The CDX-GT540UI has blue face plate illumination while the CDX-GT630UI offers a green backlight option too. The problem is that both of them are incapable of setting the brightness of the backlight, that is it shines too bright.

The prev/next buttons are small and hard to press.

The main knob default functionality is setting the treble, bass, fade, etc. Now, that makes no sense to me since I hardly set these options. Pressing the main know should have the functionality of that of the quick browse button.

As for the pros of the two models, both the CDX-GT540UI and the CDX-GT630UI handle (and charge) the iPhone nicely, which is invaluable for me when I get on longer trips. The music library is easy to browse both when the audio control is at the iPhone (iPod software) and at the car stereo. The sound quality is more than satisfying.

I used to own a CDX-GT630UI a couple of months back, but I sold it and decided to go for the CDX-GT540UI instead. The reasons I like the CDX-GT540UI better are the somewhat easier to reach prev and next buttons, the 1 character longer LCD display and the easier to detach face plate.

I have been researching stereo systems for a while and this one got some pretty good rating, I love the idea of the usb port and aux port, now I can play my ipod and not have an "Accessory Connected" screen anymore. I can control directly from my ipod which is awesome. I saw where people posted that it was really bright at night but i also read that there was a dimmer on it so i bought it anyways. I said all that to say that it is rather bright and can be aggravating. I even found the Dim switch and turned it on but it only affects the screen and not the blue lights on the outside which is the real problem but if you like a bright cab. get it. not that big of a deal. depends on you really. It sounds great, it looks good, if you read the instructions everything is real simple and it takes literally no time to get adjusted to it. Its worth the little money you are going to pay for it. its a quality product

This device is the best alarm clock EVER! It provides personal and customized internet at my fingertips when I wake up each morning. It takes up little space on my bedside table, measuring 7.5" tall, 5.5" wide and 2.5" at its thickest point. The price is a little steep but the convenience and the great updates make it worth it for me.

This unit needs to be plugged into an outlet and your house needs to have WI-FI set up for it to work properly. It provides 1,000+ free apps that provide just about everything you would ever want to use. FaceBook, twitter, NY Times, Netflix, Amazon on Demand, Pandora, Slacker, Flickr and several homebrewed options are provided. I love the webcams from Australia and Italy for beautiful and relaxing vistas. In order to access more apps, you need to register online. There are plenty of cool apps to browse through (humorous, entertainment news, etc.) and new ones are constantly added. I sometimes play videos and music understanding that the video source determines quality and the speakers are basic but good; remember, it's a souped up alarm clock and not a stereo system. Although, adding better speakers to the next generation wouldn't hurt (hint, hint SONY). There is no memory card slot but there is an usb port. Also, they've added a "WWW" button on the menu which allows for easy connections to yahoo.com, google.com, and sony.com for now. The features just keep getting better and better the longer I own it (I've had it just over a year).

You start out with a default channel with popular apps preloaded (Facebook, twitter, CNBC, etc.) but you can set up several different channels and add apps to provide a very customized experience. I have 5 channels (daily, entertainment, news, travel and games) that I can easily switch between through the menu. Having said that, I usually stick with my daily but like the option of different choices and change the channels ~2 times per month.

The two beefs I had with the Dash have been fixed: (1) I had trouble getting it to display the correct time zone but this was addressed by very helpful Sony customer reps.; and (2) instructions to press snooze button twice to access menu was spotty and took several attempts but was advised to use one long touch to access menu and that works every time. The only remaining issues are that the touch keyboard can be tricky (people with large fingers or long fingernails will have a problem with the small keyboard) and sometimes I have to reboot my Dash to reflect changes made online. Despite these minor irritants, I think this is the best alarm clock ever!

I use this strictly as a bedside alarm clock with super benefits. The light given off is adjustable with a nighttime mode easily reached at the press of an onscreen button (moon icon) and you can even put it into a black sleep mode for a perfect night's sleep if you require complete darkness. The unit has a 7" screen and the ability to customize it. The set background colors change throughout the day which is pretty cool. Granted, it takes a little work to set this puppy up but once it's running, it's a thing of beauty. I love being able to set several different alarms (weekday AM, bus pick-up, weekend AM, soccer practice, etc.) and be able to set them to different alarm types (regular alarm sounds, nature sounds, radio, videos, personal messages, etc.). I can program my local weather, get top news headlines, music, video or any other of the 1,000s of apps it boasts and at the touch of the screen -view them when I roll over in the morning. It's a brilliant way to start the day!

This is NOT a useless product. People who say it is aren't paying attention to what they're buying and expect it to be something it's not and something it's not even advertised to be: a tablet. If you think you're buying a tablet, you're not reading the literature or the many reviews online. THIS IS NOT A TABLET. And it's not advertised as being a tablet. Don't review it as if it is. Let me repeat: DON'T REVIEW THIS AS IF IT IS A TABLET. If you think you bought (or were gifted) a tablet, you are mis-informed and a review treating it as such isn't relevant. It does EXACTLY what it is designed to do: provide internet content from specific addresses. Plus it delivers some custom content via apps like Pandora, Flickr, Netflix, AccuWeather and more.

So how do I have it set up? Well, I have the AccuWeather app, so, when I wake up in the morning, it shows me a brief summary of the weather for my ZIP. It scrolls through internet pages, showing different websites like facebook, woot, cbs news, etc, so I can see the latest at a glance. Then maybe I'll flip over to Pandora to listen to some of my favorite music. (I believe you can have it wake you to music too, but I've not tried it.) Before I go to bed, I can set a quick one-time alarm or a more advanced custom alarm. Then maybe I'll watch something on Netflix. Or I might check my email. (No, you can't respond to emails. It's not a tablet. It's a content VIEWER. But just viewing emails is handy in some cases.) I can even flip over to a radio station if they happen to stream over the net in a specific format. Sure, a lot of the other apps are cheesy but show me a device that doesn't have a bunch of cheesy apps...

So, is it worth the $170 asking price? Probably not. But I only paid about $70 through woot. For $70 it's the coolest alarm clock ever.

I bought my Dash from the Woot website about 18-months ago. At first it seemed to work alright. Setting it up was easy, and I liked the alarm clock feature (I set the Dash to wake me to the sound of waves on the seashore nice!) Then, things took a turn for the worse.

At some point in the intervening period, Sony updated the software. After that, my Dash was (and still is) nearly useless. It constantly disconnects from my wireless network, and rebooting it is a LONG, LONG process often resulting in an endless cycling and failure to connect. An error message will appear, and I have to unplug and start over. This goes on all the time. ALL THE TIME.

When my Dash worked (ah, the good 'ole days!) I loved falling asleep to Pandora. Those days are gone forever it seems. I replaced the Dash with my old alarm clock, which is functional, reliable and dependable. I miss Pandora though. If I were brave, I'd give the Dash to some other sucker, but I wouldn't want to inflict it on someone else. Yes, it's that bad. Maddeningly bad.

Keep shopping. You'll probably find something similar that's more reliable. Oh, and don't bother contacting Sony that's also an exercise in frustration closing your fingers in a car door is less painful.

You've been warned.

Probably the the best alarm clock ever. If your looking for more, get something else. No slacker radio, does not stream video. Don't let other reviews fool you, only the personal internet viewer(HID-C10) has the Bravia TV stuff. Internet radio is nice but can be tedious to set up your own streaming stations. Battery is only good for about an hour, according to manual, haven't tested it.

This does NOT support video! The reviews are wrong! I have this model only for battery back up feature. Also have HID C10 which does have netflix, hulu +, etc. Streaming radio is good, similar on both but only C10 has slacker. Pay very close attention to model numbers, and look up specs carefully.

Update. Locks up daily. No longer works as alarm clock. Unit freezes and needs to be reset before operational again. Product support is disappearing. I this Sony knows this product is a dud and they are quietly walking away.

Dissappointed that I can rate only 3 stars and they are for the look of the unit and thats it,I paid for 2 day shipping,product arrived but upon opening the box it became clear very quickly that this item was USED,the wiring harness was not sealed in a manufacturer plastic bag,the black connector block,(male part)was missing from the box,probably from a failed attempt to install with a Metra type kit so as not to cut into the factory loom,the protective screen cover was missing from the face plate and the plastic battery isolater(the piece you have to pull out of the remote control when you first buy the item) was missing and the 2 screws that hold the cd deck in place while shipped one was loose and the other completley out,the plastic bag that holds the screws,metal plate and stereo removal pins had been cut open...................while I could install with no problem note this..... I had bought this back in 2011 and driving around on bumpy roads and elevated inclines have not harmed the playability of the CD/DVD player.

The interface is easy to work with and the instruction manual was easy to follow. There was the whole point of getting the bypass for the back up camera, which I did not have, that could be found with a little investigation through the inner-nets. But the picture is not bad at all, and more importantly the compatibility with all type of devices makes it that much better. The only con is the darn remote not being picked up on the IR receiver. 5 out of 5

If you buy the Phillips docking station in the store it'll cost over $59.00. It's sound is perfect for what I need, it's not a Bose but if you looking for a trustworthy sound system this is it. The reason I didn't buy a Bose system is because I live in a dorm and I was afraid someone would steal it, not that I want someone to steal my Phillips. It's a great sound system for the money. I bought this particular speaker because it doesn't have a "pocket" that the device rests in while it charges. That makes it so you can charge iPhones, iPods and even iPads even with a case or cover on. It works beautifully for all our devices and it's so convenient for all members of our family to just set it on to charge up any time. I keep this speaker in the kitchen so I can listen to music and podcasts while I'm busy in there, but the music often attracts the kids or my husband, and we have a good time being together listening, dancing, cleaning, whatever. The sound is clear and loud. The bass sounds a little stuffy, but I wasn't going for high-end audio quality with this. It was 100 percent worth the money, and I would buy another one. Also, my clock does not display military time. It shows regular 12 hour format.

The thing worked great for a few months. I imagine the 5 star/happy reviews must have come during this honeymoon period, before the devil entered their equipment. The first sign of its downward spiral: I'd start to play music from my iTunes on it, my phone would claim the music was going, but nothing came out of the speakers. I thought the speakers were shot and mourned the loss of my hard earned money on a piece of crap. About fifteen minutes later, I nearly had a heart attack when the music started playing. Luckily I wasn't doing any home surgery or standing in an oil slick at the time. It still functions like this. I start playing the music, and despite all my wishes and curses at the thing, it won't be told when it should or shouldn't play music. I think it's possessed.

I don't remember if this came around the time of an update, as another reviewer mentioned. I know it hasn't been working properly since, maybe late spring or early summer. I don't remember what updates went on around that time.

It quit grabbing the time for about 2 months, and just blinked incessantly. Suddenly it now shows the time. The wrong time. I don't even know how that's possible. I don't remember if it was only military time before this, as others have complained about, but it is now. And I don't have my phone set to military time. I can subtract pretty well, so this doesn't bother me as much. But having to subtract because of military time, and the added incorrect time, now that's way too much work.

I'm not getting rid of it just yet, as it does keep the phone charged and I'm just not ready to cough up more money on a new speaker/iPhone set up just yet. Once it ceases doing that job too (which I expect will be any day now), I'll cast it down into the depths of hell from which it came. And won't be buying any more Philips products.

I got this for Christmas last year (2011) to use with my iPhone 4. For the short period of time that the speaker worked, it was awesome. I especially liked that it worked with my protective case on the phone.

Then I did an update of the iOS. Since then it has been a large charging dock on my desk...no sound from the speakers, no time display.

At that time Philips customer service said they would have to work on an update. Now a year later, I called customer support today, 11/20/2012, I was told the same thing.

So if you have an iPhone that you aren't ever going to update the operating system then this is the speaker/dock for you.

Fisher PH-DTA300 IPOD Docking Station

I've had this item for about two weeks and hands down, it is the best Ipod Clock Radio I have had. I have bought and returned the IHome, JBL On-Time, ZipConnect Isoother, and the Teac GR-10i Clock Radio for iPod.

All of the above were great in their own way, but in looking at sound, flexibility, and price, this is hands down the most balanced system, it's a keeper.

Side by side, this compares very well to the IHome and Teac in regards to price as they are very closely priced (within $10 of each other, typically). In comparison to the IHome and Teac, one thing that was a big deal to me was the dock. I have an Ipod Video with a plastic case around it. With the Ipod Video, you will have to take the case off to use it on the IHome and Teac, with the Fisher, you do not have to take the case off. In regards to size, the 3 are very similar, but where you will see the biggest difference is in regards to the sound. The IHome gets distorted when you turn up the volume and the bass cannot compete with either the Teac or Fisher. The Teac is a great product, at a great price, but the deal breaker for me is the inability to use the Ipod Video without taking off my plastic cover. In regards to crisp highs and bass, the Teac and Fisher are comparable.

In comparing to the ZipConnect Isoother and JBL On-time, the Fisher beat the ZipConnect hands down in sound. The Isoother is more portable, but just cannot compete in louder sound level as you will hear the distortion. The Isoother is typically about $50 more than the Fisher. The only advantage I see with the Isoother are two things, the ability to use it with other MP3 players other than the Ipod and the portability. With the JBL On-Time, it is the most expensive of the items I bought. The JBL does have the best sound overall, but it also costs double the price of the Fisher. What turned me off about the JBL is for some reason whenever the unit turns on, including when the alarm triggers it sets the ipod to start playing the library (i.e. all songs) rather then continuing from where you left it. This means you lose the playlist selection, the current playing song etc. The manual states the ipod should start from the last played songs, but its not so. Its annoying as its impossible to set to wake to a specified playlist for example. My workaround is to use the ipod built in alarm feature in addition to JBL's alarm. But that shouldn't be so.

Keep in mind that if you have the Ipod Video with a plastic case, it will not fit in the IHome and the Teac. The Zipconnect Isoother and JBL On Time are the most expensive and do not have remote controls.

I hope this info helps as each product is great in it's own way and based on what you are looking for. But if you are looking for the total package in price, sound, and flexibility, the Fisher is the best, hands down.

Spent a lot of time researching these docks, i required one with am/fm and the ipod hook up.

Pros:

-Good Sound

-Compact body design, will be easy to travel with

-Every kind of snap in attachment to fit any ipod size, even Gen 5

Cons:

-only one, you can't change albums from the unit or the remote, you need to do so from the ipod directly. Not a problem if you have playlists already setup, but if youare like me and jump from artist/album to another, you have to be near the unit.

I researched this purchase for a while because I didn't want to get stuck with a dud. This is a great ipod clock radio.

It has VERY good sound, much better than most clock radios and that horrible Bose. It could use a TOUCH more treble. The bass and midrange are absolutely present in a balanced fashion. I docked 1 star for missing the tiny bit of treble. However, as I said, it's still the best sounding clock radio i've heard.

Other than that it has great features and a handy little remote control. you can go to sleep with the ipod and you can also wake up to a pre-set song on your ipod. can't ask for more than that. it's also quite attractive--a bit "space age" look with a smaller footprint that my previous clock radio.

now, i can listen to any of my 11,000 songs right in my bedroom!

strongly recommended. if you aren't an ultra-audiophile, accept this as a 5-star review....

Compares well with the competition and a nice, solid unit.

Two complaints (ditto for all the others I've tried):

1) Clock display still TOO BRIGHT, even at lowest setting (that is, the setting above "off").

2) Display contrast not adjustable (?). I can't see it from below, which is where my bed is located relative to the shelf the clock sits on. This seems to be a very common problem with LCD displays on clock radios. They're all aimed up at about 45º, with no provision for adjusting it (which is DUMB).

Other than the above, I like the fit-and-finish, sound quality, remote and appearance of the Fisher.

I've tried everything BUT the iHOME iH5, based on the complaints I've read about it.

I did a lot of research before asking for one of these fancy-schmancy ipod alarm clock things for Christmas. At first I kind of laughed at how expensive they were for a dumb alarm clockuntil I compared it to what I already had (I've been living in the alarm clock stone age). Among the things that I chose this product for were:

-Charges my Ipod. I didn't buy the stupid AC adapter so I've been doing it on my computer all along, which has been annoying

-Good sound quality. It's actually not that bad. I haven't had my audiophile boyfriend listen to it yet, but at the very least it doesn't get you out of bed just to turn off the distortion of your favorite songs. I actually listen to it as a regular stereo.

-Backlight dimmer. I need COMPLETE darkness to sleep. I agree with another reviewer who says that the lowest setting is still too bright, but you CAN turn the backlight off completely. For me, this is an extra plus because if I wake up in the middle of the night and look at the time I usually get depressed about how little sleep I'm getting. If I can't see the time, I freak out less and get to sleep faster!

-Dual alarms! Woo hooo! The other good thing about the alarms is you set them with separate volumes than the thing plays at

-Batteries, so when the power goes out it still stays on and wakes you up. Amazing! (yes, I said I was living in the alarm clock stone age) Even after you take the batteries out I found it at least keeps your settings.

The only thing I think I would change is to make it so that you can fall asleep listening to one playlist and wake up to another. I don't know how hard that would be to do, but it would slightly improve the product.

That's about it for its cool features. The other thing I wanted to comment on was the exceptional service I got from the Sanyo Fisher Company. The first unit I got was defective in that the Ipod would play normally, but when I wanted to wake up to the alarm, the unit would not turn on the iPod and I wouldn't wake up. Normally, the unit does have a feature where if the iPod is not plugged in the buzzer will sound, but I guess this specific unit was broken with that too. I called their toll-free customer service phone number and was able to speak to a knowledgeable service person right awayno confusing menu mazes, and I wasn't put on hold for hours. I had to send the unit to their service center (and that was not free, but...) and the guy told me it would be 7-10 business days. I tracked the package and it was received by them on the 10th. I received a brand new replacement on the 12th. Now that's service! I would highly recommend this product and this company.

I use this to listen to the news in the shower. It's adequate for that purpose, but the TV and SW bands have never seemed to work. It's also very difficult to tune as the indicator is almost invisible. Nobody expects audiophile quality in a cheap pocket radio, so it's no surprise that the loudspeaker is good only for AM news and talk shows. The mono sound is decent enough for music if you use headphones or ear buds.

I like this radio and it's better than the cheap Sony with better volume control, audio, antenna design, and size. In addition the Coby picks up a few TV stations, and a weather station or two. The tuning is a little more finicky than the Sony but it is still worth the six dollars I spent.

Wow. I was surprised at how much this costs on Amazon. I borrow this sometimes from a coworker to get thru the night. It looks like it's worth about $20. It gets only a very few stations in clearly. ONe weak R&B station that I like listening to will come in on this unit but another channel will also come in over it from time to time. Will do, but would not pay $60 for this.

The weather station operates flawlessly and is very clear. I chose it because unlike some other models, this one shows both the indoor and outdoor conditions at once for both temp and humidity.

One caution: Although the description does not say so, this is a desk unit only not a wall mount unit--there's an immovable rest sticking out the back (most of the other models are not like this)

This unit is easy to read and works great--compared to what, I dunno. We've never owned anything like this. But it's fun to have, much more so than a simple thermometer.

Two caveats however. You need a very small flat-head screwdriver in order to put the AAA batteries into the sensor. Not so small as the one in an eyeglass repair kit though. I had a small screwdriver with a shirt-pocket clip, that small, and still had to file the sides down in order to reach the deeply recessed screws. I'll have to do this anytime the batteries need changing. Not the best design perhaps.

Second, the instructions tell you to put the (outdoor) sensor (1) in a sight line with the (indoor) monitor-(2) open to the sky-(3) out of the sun-(4) out of the rain- (5) away from metal- It's not easy to do all of this! Ours is nestled in a plastic container cut up into the shape of a bus kiosk and tied to a post. I'm not sure if it's all 100% necessary.

The atomic clock took about a day to find its signal. The instructions warn about this odd (to me) likelihood.

It's a little discouraging to have to deal with all of this out of the box but as I say the device is great.

After comparing this weather station to the more expensive ones, I gave in on the nice looks of this one and can't say that I'm disappointed. We really love this unit. We check the temperature and the humidity outside every day and not once was it inaccurate. The rain predictor is a bit fishy to me, it thinks it's going to rain 60% of the time when it never does. But it beats listening to the weather people on the news who can't even tell if it really is going to snow tomorrow.

The only 3 issues that we found with this are 1) it doesn't have a backlight so you can't see anything in the dark; 2) the time doesn't seem to adjust automatically to our zone and 3) the battery on the remote sensor died in like 2 months.

Despite these 3 issues, I would buy this unit again over all the others currently on the market.

This wireless weather station has everything that I was looking for, and has been extremely accurate! I like the fact that it displays ALL of the information that I need "at a glance" indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity, date and time, weather forecast illustrations (sunny, rainy, cloudy, etc.), barometric pressure, wet or dry conditions, and arrows which indicate that the indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity are either rising, steady, or falling. It also has an alarm function to warn you if the temperature falls below or rises above a specific temperature setting.

Setup took some time (but isn't that part of the fun with a new gadget?!). It took two days for the atomic clock to set automatically. Inputting your location's elevation is suggested in order for the barometer indicator to work accurately. It was somewhat of a challenge to find the ideal location for the outdoor remote sensor there are a number of requirements/recommendations such as away from direct sun and moisture, and in a direct line and within range of the base unit.

Also, the unit is not wall mount. It is tabletop display only. The Fahrenheit/Celsius switch is located in the battery compartment. The black "frame" has a shiny finish, and there are several function buttons located on the side and back. Also, you can press the front (top and bottom) of the frame for additional functions (alarm on/off).

I am very happy with this weather station and hope that this review is helpful!!
