Pros:
-Sounds fantastic for the size, but most importantly the price. It fills a 10x10 room easily. I listen to music at low volumes and noticed that at less than 40% volume on my iPhone 4 the dock lacks highs With no equalization). At above 50% the highs catch up with the mid and lows and it sounds well balanced. This is when playing a non equalized app such as Pandora. Obviously when playing stored music or music from the Phillips app it can be equalized and improved.
-Looks and feels great, nice modern design and color.
-Works perfectly with iPhone 4, no incompatibility messages as with a lot of docks.
-Syncing works but you have to power OFF the dock.
-No audio noise when receiving text/calls/data.
Cons:
My main complaint is no remote, I overlooked this when ordering and seeing how tricky it is to keep in place( depending on surface, slides on wood pretty easily, but sticks to glass well). I don't like interacting with the phone while it's in the dock since I need to hold the dock while I push buttons, mostly the home button on my iPhone 4. It would also just be a much better product with a remote for obvious reasons, listening to music and just want to change songs or volume.
) My 2nd is the 3.5mm input to the dock ONLY works IF there is NO device in the dock, wow.
-Low Functionality. The only controls on the dock are POWER and Vol +/, so you have to go in your device to make changes. I never leave my phone unlocked so this means unlocking finding the app and switching a song. I could have really used previous/next buttons.
Not so good as an alarm. I wanted to use it as an alarm clock so I wish the alarm function was integrated into the dock itself, not into your device.Instead you download a free Philips app that has the alarm function and it does a great job, BUT I've had apps crash and close on my phone before. Lets say someone calls/texts and the Philips app or your phone crashes, that can easily mean a missed alarm. You can also use your iPhone alarm and just play it through the speakers which would probably be the safer way to go.
The mesh in front of the dock isn't so good for durability. I've had that type of speaker cover before and they tear and get dirty with time especially when they are a light color as this one is.

There is one issue that we have encountered, loading the AA batteries is somewhat of a hassle. Reason being is that the springs are extremely flimsy and bend a lot making it hard to load batteries into the Fidelio DS3000 speaker/dock station.
Other then that issue it's still my favorite and best sounding compact iPod speaker/dock!

After listening to several different iPod/MP3 docking speakers I actually had very low expectations for the Fidelio DS3000. The other speakers were tinny, lacked any sort of mid bass, and were just plain awful. However that is definitely not the case with this baby!
Setup was dirt simple (much simpler then the folding "easy to store" speakers that are out there). I just pulled it out of the box, plugged in the AC adaptor (it also runs on batteries), set the 5th gen iPod Nano on it's base, hit play, and away I was! No spacers or other plastic bits to insert into/over the iPod connection to make the different iPods or iPhone to fit!
The built in lit volume control on the unit is a nice touch since several other units lack an external volume control.
A USB connection allows for connectivity to your computer so you can sync your iPod with your computer. While a separate input jack allows the use of any other MP3 or CD player.
The quality of audio that this beauty reproduces is actually quite amazing. It's not the least bit hollow or tinny. Mid bass and the lower frequencies are present. And the shape of the "system" does a great job at filling a moderately large room with clear audio.
A docking and charging station for your iPod or iPhone and a speaker system for your MP3 or other audio playing device. Sleek, stylish, and extremely functional!

Listening to just a few songs, it works great. But set it to shuffle and expect continual music? Nope. It plays about 10 songs, and then quits. Sometimes it plays for a few hours. Doesn't matter if I am using iPod Touch or iPod nano. Same thing happens with 3 different devices.My other problem I just discovered is Batteries do NOT work as battery back up if the unit is also plugged in. I use this as my alarm clock and specifically wanted a speaker that had batteries as an option. Much to my surprise, power went out and unit would not turn on until I unplugged cord from the unit.

I only do reviews here i if i think a product as earned it, or is just very bad. (the bad reviews never seem to make it it seems :>)..Any we have a house with iTouchs/ipods and iphones now. I never had one of these speaker docks before and wanted one for a Xmas gift. I decided on this one mostly because of the look, it seemed to have a bit of "apple" design to it which I liked.I was not so sure about the Philips brand as in my mind I associated that name with old TV's and Stereos from the 60's right? Anyway...this thing is fantastic. It has great looks, seems built well, and most important of all SOUNDS great. Just really good. We use it all the time now. Mostly with the batteries so we can move it around easily. Have not plugged it in yet.
If you are looking for a some portable speakers to move around the house where you might want some sounds, I highly recommend this product. Great looks too.
By they way, I have some pricey Bose speakers for my PC, and honestly...these remind me a bit of those.

My latest venture into iPod/iPhone speakers was a successful one! I was surprised when I plugged in my iPhone 4G to be prompted to download an app (the Fidelio app check it out) from the iTunes store to run while using these speakers. I thought I was in for some highly unnecessary, clunky user experience. Instead, what I got was a nicely designed app that gives way more functionality to these speakers than I anticipated! The app uses your iTunes catalog and allows you to play your playlists and has an equalizer. You can always just use iTunes if you want to view your collection in other manners, but this was fine for straightforward use. Best of all (to me at least), it has a clock feature with multiple alarms. You can set a picture you'd like to display and a song you'd like to play when the alarm goes off. If you put the iPhone/iPod on the clock screen (you can choose from analog or digital) it will remain displayed and serve as a bedside clock radio.So the app features won me over because this clock solution is much less clunky than the iHome clock radio unit I have that has the iPhone stick into the top and where all the features are in the iHome unit instead of just using the iPhone as an alarm.
As for the speaker sound: this is not a big unit. This will not fill a large room with bass-pounding, dance all night volume. The sound is clear and pretty full for speakers this size and they are certainly loud enough for most normal circumstances (e.g., you can't host a dance party with these).
I don't anticipate using these near my computer to offer any feedback on the synching, but I can't imagine that would be an issue.
These speakers worked with my iPhone 4G and my iPhone 3G.

the remote and face controls have the worst and most anti-intuitive controls i have ever used. very confusing. if you want to use an iphone it gets worse... once the iphone locks you will have random select, play and pause features only until you manually unlock the phone with a finger swipe to the screen. this thing is not at all what i was expecting considering the specs given.

OK, so it happens sometimes. However, I have received no response from Pyle's customer service department. So, all I have now is a "Pyle" of junk!
Update: while Pyle's customer service was non-existent, I was very impressed with Amazon's customer service. After a quick phone call to Amazon, they are sending a new one to me even before I send the old one back. Superb service Amazon!received 2 days prior to xmas, i gave it to my wife as a gift for her to use with her Ipod-touch. very solid construction, great sound and looks great in our finished basement. also will connect to many other devices via A/V cables. great purchase, wife loves it

After waiting almost 4 weeks for a factory repair, they sent a second radio instead of repairing the first one. After about 2 months, the second radio has the same problem -the clock display freezes, radio stops functioning as an alarm clock, and the on/off buttons on the radio and the remote control do not work. Tech Support says to unplug, push the on/off button several times during two hours, and then replug to power. Same routine as for first radio; it worked for a while and then same symptom.
They will NOT give a refund after 30-days, even though the problem I called about was originally less than 30 days!

The HK sounds somewhat better. Better bass, volume and soundstage. The George does, however, have clearer treble on some songs. (I import music to the IPOD at 320 kbps.) Moreover, the George has treble and bass controls. Don't get me wrong, the sound from the George is very good!
The George is a marvel --the unique remote, very good AM/FM, and a clock radio. Looks are ok. (Note: due to its features and intended use, a comparion with the Bose Wave --similarly priced and a CD player rather than IPOD dock --might be more appropriate but no one is doing that, not even Chestnut Hill.)
It's an excellent product, so why only three stars? Well, I gave the HK four stars --the George costs substantially more and the SQ is a bit weaker. I really do like the extra features (AM/FM radio, clock radio, unique remote). The problem --its very good sound quality does not justify the price. (It's high price is partly due to the special, detachable remote.) The remote is a marvel of engineering but I don't need it. I prefer to use the IPOD itself --the IPOD screen is in color and the George remote screen is black and white (sort of like the IPOD a few generations ago; moreover, the remote does not hold a charge for very long.) Videos --the George will not help you there.
So, no, it's not worth $499 to me. At $399 it would be very appropriately priced IMHO. It might even sell like hotcakes! Even then, I would get the HK because of the better SQ. Moreover, I like the portability of the HK and the ability to use batteries.
Should you buy it? If the extra features mean a lot to you, then a definite yes. (Especially if you would make extensive use of the remote and prefer it to the IPOD interface for some reason.) The sound is much more than adequate for a clock radio and compares well to the popular Bose Sound Dock.
It's actually a very well made product, set-up is very easy and SQ is very good.

Had my George for a few days but have cycled different music -rock, jazz, classical through it. I would describe the sound as "comparable" to the Wave. The fact that the sound is so good sealed the deal for me because the features just kill. I love having a clockradio on steroids that can be across the bedroom filing the whole room with sound rather than right next to my head. Ditto the alarm. With the remote unit (remote control doesn't do it justice) my night table is tidy and the display is inches away while the music fills the room.The lighted adjustable remote offers the ability to navigate the full Ipod menu. That means laying flat on my back in the dark I can scroll all my albums, playlists, even podcasts, Very James Bond. Very luxurious. Also the AM FM is on it with presets and it appears that other sources are going to be released.
I have a den next to my bedroom and even though the sound radiates I love the idea that I can take the remote in there and blah, blah, blah. Also the line output means I can add a pair of speakers in the den and still use the remote to access my full collection and the radio.
The alarms -there are 5 will couple with any source or tune and are easy to set and reset. This thing is the coolest device since the Kindle.

This had the most options for my dollar. Cool to share SD cards with friends. This looks almost too good to carry around. This is always by my side and basically replaced the other gear I was carrying. Has the clock, calender, alarm and radio, good speaker sound. If interested, the PLMC15 microphone connects and turns the player into a digital recorder. I bought one to try and have had good luck with it. My son used it for a while as an alarm speaker, and it was LOUD.
Yes, I would recommend it, but not for a connoisseur.

Was looking for a soft purple alarm clock to match my bedroom and had difficulty finding one until this one. Loved the price and the feature of dual alarm clocks since my husband and I awake at different times. Clock is very loud or has a radio option to wake you. Only dislike is the numbers are very bright especially when you're trying to sleep but if you turn the clock away from you it's hardly noticeable anymore. I would recommend this clock to anyone. Just a basic clock radio (albeit with dual alarms) which works well for what it was designed to do.(Not sure why some folks are having problems with the controls they're pretty generic and easy to set).
The dual alarm is a plus for me since as a substitute teacher I have to get up at two different times during the week (depending on where I'm teaching) and this clock does that at the flip of a switch.
The radio is not hifi (mono, pretty basic) but it gets me up and the tuner is much more sensitive that the clock radio I just retired (so I can now rise to classical music instead of the local C&W noise).
The only area that could use improvement is the time display. Big enough to see easily, but the display segments are unevenly lit. Not a problem at night but it can be a problem to read the time during daylight, especially if the clock is viewed at an angle.
The price is right.
When I was looking for a new clock for our guest bedroom, I found this one. It has all the functionality with a more modern look. I love the large numbers on the lock, it has dual alarm functions, and the buzzer will wake you up just as quickly. The radio comes in clearly, although I admit we don't use it often.
The default setting for the clock is very bright (and will light up a dark room). However, the brightness is adjustable so that you can tone it down. The numbers are just as clear regardless of which brightness setting it is. If you're like me, and all you need is a good clock and basic alarm function, this is a great choice. It's attractive and functional.

I still own the "Sony ICF-CD815 AM/FM Stereo CD Clock Radio with Dual Alarm" which has an awesomely loud annoying buzzer and has the advantage of allowing you to wake up to a CD track of your choice, but, has an inferior radio when compared to this model. My old Sony CD alarm/buzzer might wake the dead, it practically has for the last 5 years. However, this newer Sony ICFC707 Clock Radio (aka "Nature Dream Machine") is perfect for my current lifestyle because it still allows me to *actually wake up*, but a bit more gently AND is very reliable, is nicer to look at, and great to listen to when I need a radio. (The volume is plenty loud enough but never "blasts"). Another great feature of this clock is a buzzer that starts off somewhat softly and slowly and gradually gets louder. In conclusion, I think I love this modern evolution of the Dream Machine and may marry it. :)I would give this NO stars if I could. I have never experienced a simple gadget made so impossibly complicated. I still haven't figured out how to set the second alarm that is supposed to sound on on the weekends. And I still have yet to discover how to turn the alarm off so it won't sound on days I prefer to sleep later. Once I had set the weekday alarm, I had to keep my cell phone by my bedside because I didn't trust that the alarm would sound. As it turns out, as indicated above, the alarm is always "on" once you figure out how to set it. You cannot turn it off. What is equally insulting is that the button you hit to stop the alarm from sounding once it has rung that button is a tiny little thing set in a array of other buttons, so you cannot distinguish it unless you are looking right at it and you are not inclined to be looking at it when you are first waking up. As for the "nature sounds," they aren't loud enough to serve as alarms, so you are stuck with either the radio or the buzzer. The FM radio works very well with great reception. But to get a signal for AM, you have to attach a secondary antenna and you can just forget about figuring out the diagrams in the instructions. How I wish I hadn't thrown away the packaging I would return it if I could. I will be throwing this in the garbage as soon as I can find a replacement. GGGGGGRRRRRRR!
