This is our second unit. Decent price. Does what it's supposed to do. Very loud, so if getting surprised by weather while you're sleeping is what you are trying to avoid, this is the unit for you.

You do have to set it up for your area to make it affective. Otherwise it will go off all the time and drive you crazy.

I have actually programmed a dozen or more of these for my friends who weren't able to figure them out.

It has a selection of stations so you can receive the one closest to you, and you can program in your own county so that you don't have to hear all of the alerts in your area.

We recently moved and we had to reprogram ours without instructions. It took me awhile, but we got everything right.

My only complaint is that occasionally when the stand is separated from the power supply there is a surge and I have to reset everything.

I enjoy this model because we can take it in the car with us when we need to stay on top of the weather.

I bought this weather alert radio because I wanted something that I could grab and take with me if I needed to head downstairs during a tornado. The problem with this radio is that it is not easy to set the date, time, or the selected stations. The instructions are not clear, so I gave it to my husband who is a whiz at these things and he struggled with it. We still aren't sure we have it set correctly! Don't think I'd choose this one again. Just hope it works when it needs to!
