Pro
* It is light, easy to carry, and small enough to tuck away when not in use.
* Mine is used primarily on my deck, and at my treadmill, where more volume would not be helpful.
* East to adjust volume, choose songs, change modes.
* Sleek design looks great.
Con
* The device does not have a stable bottom, and can roll. The bottom is flat, but sits only on two short, thin strips of plastic. This instability means that the slightest bump can knock it down off a shelf or table.
* The iPod dock does not lock in well, leaving the iPod wobbly. Added to the device's instability, this can result in the iPod falling out of the socket and damaging the connecting pins.

http://anthonytrendl.comI was looking for a cheap way to charge my older iPod and amplify it at the same time so I could dock it and use it as a daily alarm clock to wake up for class and a radio to listen to while I study. The Homedics HMDX-SBOXBK mini boombox is the cheapest solution I could find at the time. In retrospect, I don't know why I didn't just plug the iPod into the wall and run it through a couple mini speakers... At any rate,
PROS:
Plenty loud for my tiny studio apartment.
Has a wall plug and can run on batteries, so it has a battery backup for my alarm clock.
Remote control (for better or worse) lets me silence my alarm clock from my bed.
Not that expensive.
CONS:
(and these almost make it more trouble that its worth)
Not really that cheap.
Has a basically rounded bottom, so any kind of jarring makes it roll off whatever it is sitting on and land on the floor, potentially destroying your iPod (and without the iPod, the boombox is useless). There are ways to prevent this, but it is a major design flaw of the item.
My biggest problem with it is that when I undock my iPod and then redock it, it automatically begins playing from my Music folder, no matter what, at whatever volume. The auto-play and constant need to readjust the volume made me stop using it as a radio and makes me dread using it as an alarm clock.
