Very reliable alarm clock. The best part is when the power goes out the backup batteries kick in. The power goes off often in my neighborhood--sometimes even for just a minute---and my old clock would flash 12:00 over and over again; I hated having to reset the time and alarm clock, and worse of all I hated the idea I could be late to school or work! No more worrying--this clock rescued me.

Controls not well marked, hard to see buttons in low light. Battery reminder stays on all the time.. alarm works well . Not likely to recommend to a friend.

Sony has had a good reputation for their products. This radio does not fit that bill. The sound is tinney and cheap. The reception on local strong stations is poor. I would have given this product zero stars if that were an option. Don't waste your money on this.

Both the sound quality and the radio reception are bad. I am approximately 5.4 miles from a 100,000W FM radio tower, and it takes careful adjustment to get decent reception, and even then there is significant hiss. At no time have I been able to tune in at better than 4 by 5 (5 by 5 being perfect reception). By contrast, a thirty dollar clock radio with an external antenna purchased six years ago is easy to tune and provides good sound quality on the same station. As far as sound quality is concerned, I know not to expect great fidelity and frequency response from a clock radio, but this is shockingly bad for a Sony, especially when compared to the aforementioned older, off-brand clock radio. Perhaps the alarm functions and easy buttons will make up for the terrible radio for you, but then why would you bother buying a clock radio? Really disappointing.
