That being said, there is one small issue I had with the case. When I was putting the phone in the case, the way my screen protector that I had on the back of the phone was lined up, it got caught by the case which pushed it up. I didn't notice it until about 15 minutes later and by that time, there was all sorts of dust stuck to the screen protector right near where my camera was. I cleaned it up as best I could and tried to put the case back on, but the screen protector kept getting caught and pushed up, leaving bubbles under the screen protector. I finally got some tape and cut it into thin strips to help hold the screen protector down.
Speck recommends putting the top of the phone in first and then snapping the bottom in. Don't do it if you have a screen protector on the back of your phone. I finally figured out that the screen protector was being pushed up when I slid the top of my phone in (it was getting caught on the hard plastic ring around the camera cut out). Once I figured this out, I started putting the bottom in first and then snapping the top in. That kept the screen protector from being caught on anything. I still have the little pieces of tape there just in case, and I was able to get most of the dust out and most of the bubbles smoothed to the edge away from the camera lens. Just be careful when putting the phone in the case. I love it for it's stability, but that's part of what makes it a bit difficult to get the phone in and out (which is also a plus, really, but not so much when it messes up your screen protector). Just make sure that if you have a screen protector on the back (which I highly recommend because this case has a habit of picking up quite a bit of dust in it's nooks and crannies, the camera cut out being one of them), that you slide the bottom in and snap the top in. It should keep the protector from being caught on anything, though I'm not 100% sure because by the time I figured out what was going on, my screen protector had already been dislodged.
Aside from that, I'm incredibly pleased with the case itself. I was a bit dubious of it because I saw no listing for a black/peacock Grip case on the speck website when I ordered it, but by the time it got here, Speck had added it to their product listing on their website. So if you're like me and you love the color teal, you want a case that is both hard and grippy, and you just think that the design of this case looks really awesome and edgy, then I say don't hesitate to purchase. Just be mindful of your screen protectors on the back if you do!This case is thin and has a more rounded shape than the iPhone 4s's blocky shape. That said, it is a little truer to the thinness of the 4s compared to the case I was previously using. I also like it because it works with the front and back screen protectors I had installed on my phone already. There's absolutely no bubbling up of the screen shield at all.
Pros:
-Thin design
-Grippy (easy to hold)
-All buttons are easy to press
-Doesn't obstruct screen protectors
-Sort of looks like a Stormtrooper!
Cons:
-The ribbed rubber part on the back catches lint (easy to clean out)
-Vibrate switch is a little recessed in the caseReally liked this case when I first got it, looked cool with my white iphone, and had a nice feel. Then it started shedding, and the love affair was officially over. All the rubber bits have started to wear completely off of the hard plastic. I never keep anything in the pocket I carry my phone in because I don't want to scratch it. Apparently this is a great case if you follow the steps below:
1. Put the case on your phone.
2. Leave your new protected phone on your desk.
2. No, really, why did you pick up your phone? All the bumper bits will start to peel off if you don't set it down right away.
3. What are you thinking? Don't put it in your pocket! This is the worst environment for your new case, because the bumper is apparently made from the same material as an eraser.
4. See? I told you so. There, now less than 30 days after you put it on your phone, and thoughtlessly used it in the manner in which it was intended the rubber bumper bits are completely gone in some spots.
5. When you buy this case, the best way to keep it in good shape is to just leave it in the package it came in.This is a very sturdy case it really protects the phone in the event of an accidental fall. However the only flaw is in the rubber that forms part I the shell case on the edges around the screen.
A week after purchasing the item these rubber edges started separating from the plastic shell, the it began flaking off. It basically looks as if some animal chewed on the edges of the phone. I'm not sure if I just got a bad one or if this is a common occurance.
Overall if the flaking didn't happen it would have been a great case
