I have been looking for a radio with a remote for my bedroom for ages. Most of the ones that I became aware of were in the $200+ range. This one turned up on a recent Google search. Although promoted as a docking station the fact that it had a radio, alarm clock, and remote, as well as the price, made it attractive. I ordered one and received it in just 3 days using the standard shipping option. I plugged it in and wow! What came out was the sound of a $350 Bose system. I always expect a bit more from Sony and this radio certainly has more than expected. Besides the great sound the sensitivity is as good as I have on another FM radio connected to an antenna with a preamplifier. The clock has a bundle of alarm functions. I note that some reviewers complained that it has a constantly blinking colon between the hour and minutes on the display. The only thing about it that bothers me is that it has left me wondering why they made it that way. Usually blinking occurs when cycling through the various settings for the display or serves as an alert. The remote works fine although I find the buttons seem to need a lot of pressure to work them.
I am still using my Walkman and do not have an ipod but I would assume that the sound quality is as good as that produced by the radio. In sum, I found it well worth the price and feel comfortable recommending it.
Buy Sony ICF-CS15IPBLK - clock radio (ICFCS15IPBLK) - Now
I bought this for use in office and it does a good job at that. Obviously, I do not intend to fill the room with music but the sound is clear and sharp, the remote is easy to use, and it looks good. It is well worth the price.
