Timex AM/FM/CD Clock Radio (T608T)

Timex AM/FM/CD Clock Radio
  • Low-profile design
  • Top-loading CD player with a 20-track memory
  • Large green LED display
  • 90 Minute Programmable Sleep Timer
  • Dual Alarms - customizable for unique time and sound settings

Fits nicely on a nightstand, has good-sized time display (for us very near-sighted people)and the nature sounds are nice. Unfortunately, there is definitely a low hum coming from the speakers when the radio or CD are playing. I have clock radios from Timex and Sony that have clear sound(the Timex has better radio reception for me) so I'm not ready to hear a HUM for the added CD feature -It's being returned right now!

I don't have this exact model but the only difference I am aware of is the color. Mine is blue. I have enjoyed mine and I haven't had any problems with it. I haven't had any problems with any humming from the speakers (I think it sounds pretty good for the size) and I don't think the display is too bright (the one I had before was a lot brighter.) My radio doesn't have any problems... I live in College Station and it picks up stations from Houston (which is about 80 miles away) clearly. I like being able to wake up to a cd or the radio instead an annoying buzzer. I have had it for at least a year and everything works fine. I don't use the nature sounds though because I never found them very soothing. I got mine on clearance at Target so I got it for pretty cheap (around $20) and I think it was a great buy.

I have had this for only a week but here are my impressions so far. The display is way too bright, you can almost use it for a reading lamp. The sound is ok but nothing great. I have not noticed any humming sound in it like the other reviewers however. The nature sounds are nice except for the wind one which just sounds like static. Overall I think you could do much better than this.

After my wonderful Panasonic CD clock radio bit the dust after my ten year old pounded the top of the CD player with his fist, I settled on this Timex model. After only one night I know it is going back to the store. The hum when playing a CD is so loud it practically kept me up all night when listening to a "relaxation" CD to lull me to sleep! The radio is awful and we can't pick up ANYTHING! This box isn't worth $10 of my money, let alone $50. The only redeeming quality is the nature sounds, which I enjoy waking up to, but I can always buy a CD with those.

I recently purchased and returned the Timex T623 clock radio, because the display was unreadable at any distance. So I picked this one up in exchange, seeing that it had a nice green LED display. That may be true, but all the nice features that were on the other model are missing from this one. For example: Ability to sleep to "nature sounds" and wake to the radio. Can't do it on this one, pick one or the other and that will be both the sleep sound and the wake-up sound. Another example: Want to sleep to quiet background sounds and wake to something louder? Can't do it on this one, the volume you sleep to is the volume you wake to. Why can't they put this display on the other clock, then they'd have a winner. This one's going back too!
