I wanted a small, simple, inexpensive radio for kitchen use. The Sony ICF38 is well made, can use either an AC cord that stows in the back of the radio, or 4-AA batteries.

Styling is simple and clean, with clear, solid controls. Sound quality is very good for such a small radio. Very happy with the radio to this point.

This is a nice small radio for its price. I bought it from Amazon last Christmas. The only problem with this radio is signal drifting, especially FM, every time when I turn the switch on, I have to readjust the dial to tune the signal in.

I purchased this radio to replace a 35 year old Sanyo boom box on my phone system used for music on hold (the Sanyo was on 24/7 for the last 27 years and died. Then they had the nerve to tell me it was out of warranty. Blast!)

It was cheap, the reception is good, it sounds like you'd think it would, and I'll update reliability in 25 years.

I wanted to receive reception for KYW 1060 news radio,125 miles away in Philadelphia. Only my car radio could ever pick it up. This radio does the job, so I will be retiring my GE Superadio and also an older GE 7-2825a (similar) to the thrift store. FM sound quality and pull-power is better than most for this size, even at higher volumes. The nice touches such as a soft rubber antenna cap, hinged battery door, tone control, flush-fold carry handle and separate on-off switch are appreciated. Although it plugs in, battery life is excellent, as is tuning. Earphone (meaning one) jack outputs to one ear using standard stereo earphones which is what I expected. This is good product, better than I had hoped.

This radio is as simple as it gets. Not complicated at all.

All plastic radio, yet it feels fairly sturdy.

Perfect for my desk at work. May get one for home too!

Sound is fairly good for an all plastic box.

Two setting tone switch which really works well when switching between music and talk radio.

Not giving it 5 stars because its not a superior quality radio. (not a complaint)

If you are looking for a solid work horse radio, as I was, this is your pick!
