Dual XDMA6438 In-Dash CD/MP3/USB Car Stereo Receiver with iPod and iPhone Control and Front USB/Auxi

Dual XDMA6438 In-Dash CD/MP3/USB Car Stereo Receiver with iPod and iPhone Control and Front USB/Auxiliary Input
  • In-Dash AM/FM, CD, MP3, USB Receiver with Remote
  • 10-character LCD text display
  • Blue illuminated button lighting
  • CEA-2006 compliant amplifier
  • Power Output:Peak: 60 watts x 4 channels - RMS: 18 watts x 4 channels

I never heard of Dual before and I was originally leaning on buying a car stereo from an established and well respected manufacturer. However, given the price of the unit from Dual, I thought that I'd take a chance... And I'm so glad that I did! I installed the unit over a week and a half ago and it works great! It is just as advertised in the item description.

I would recommend personally installing the unit yourself if you have some mechanical aptitude and technical skills. You're basically just putting in a metal mounting sleeve and splicing 12 wires together. Doing the installation yourself definitely added some personal satisfaction to the whole purchase. However, if you're still uncomfortable, it's a simple enough job for any neighborhood handyman that should only require a six pack or dinner as compensation.

First thing that you may want to do after installation is to go into the setup menu and adjust the illumination dimmer and set it to "low". My unit came set in the "hi" level and it may be quite bright for some. A bonus feature that wasn't in the item description is a red LED bulb that flashes when the face plate is off and your car key is out of the ignition. It makes it look like your car has an anti-theft security system. The only thing that puzzles me is the remote control...Really!! I guess it's for those who have a chauffeur and ride in the backseat.

Well, hope this review helps anyone still waiting on the fence trying to decide. Taking a chance was the best decision for me! :)

I bought this unit, given its decent reviews, great price, and a previous positive experience with similar products. As I am not a handyman by any means, had it professionally installed at a local car audio shop. It worked fine on the way home, and I was happy with its sound. However, upon restarting my car a few hours later, the radio flickered, and turned off after about 2 minutes. It then restarted itself, only to eventually die again. I tried resetting the unit, and was able to get it to work again for the duration of my drive. Hoping this was just the new radio "settling in," decided to try it for another day before bringing it back to the shop. Unfortunately, the next day, it stopped working altogether. Brought it to the shop, who confirmed that the leads were working and powered correctly. Turning on the radio, he was able to elicit a garbled jumble of letters on the screen and no power. Sadly, not even anticipating this as a possibility, I threw out the packaging the moment I got home after installation, not anticipating a defective product. Sadly, upon returning to the shop to have it removed, the owner mentioned that he stopped selling Dual models because people kept coming back with problems. In any case, bottom line may still be worth the money, but SAVE YOUR PACKAGING AND RECEIPT until you are sure you don't need to return it. wish I had known.

Great price, easy install and diverse playback features made this radio upgrade a good choice for an older vehicle. Radio reception, even out in the boonies, is quite good. Not made with the sturdiest control components but adequate. Remember to use the internet for wiring and installation details. Overall, a good buy!

Pyle Home PICL34B iPod and iPhone Clock Radio with FM Receiver and Dual Alarm Clock (Black)

Pyle Home PICL34B iPod and iPhone Clock Radio with FM Receiver and Dual Alarm Clock

Bought one of these (white) for my wife for her birthday, to go with her new iPhone and replace the very large CD Alarm Clock that was taking up so much room on her night stand. She loved it and found that it did dock the iPhone 3GS with the her Otterbox case with no problem.

After two months I decided to buy one for my side of the bed to replace a very bright alarm clock. I purchased the black one because her white one tends to become translucent with the internal light and I was looking to get something that wasn't too bright. The black one does a better job of containing the internal light than the white one. This clock let's you choose from several different colors of light for the numbers and I chose red which helps prevent it from being too bright. My wife had chosen to let the colors rotate all the time but after seeing my red color settled on that as well.

I have an iPhone 4S with an Otterbox case and it did not fit well, without me pushing down hard on the connection. So I did a little sanding of the bottom of the case (which you can't see since it's rubber) and that little modification made the phone dock without any more problems.

My only real complaint (and it's a small one) is that the buttons are a little hard to push when you are mostly asleep in the morning and being close together I still (after a month and a half) push the wrong button to turn it off more than I should.

I typically wake to a local news station and the alarm comes off very soft but then the volume increases quickly (maybe too quickly) to make sure you hear it.

Over all, great size, good dock and easily readable.

I've had my last alarm clock for 10+ years, so I figured I was due for an upgrade. This is a perfectly nice replacement, but I'm picky about how things work (since I use them for so long!) and this just didn't do it for me.

The good:

-ipod dock, can auto sync time from my iphone

-pretty LED colors, cycling or steady (which is also a negative)

-big numbers and easy to see icons tell you if the alarm is on, if you are on snooze, etc.

The bad:

-the LED is BRIGHT! I got the white model, and there is a lot of light leakage through the sides and around the front. You can turn the LED off by holding down the color button, but the only way to turn on again is to hit that button, which leads to another issue...

-the LED has two settings: cycling through the colors and one steady color. It comes cycling. Hit the color button and it stops on that color. Hit again and it cycles. SO...when you are turning on the LED again after turning it off, it goes to cycling (if you were last on steady). That's annoying in the middle of the night...

-Setting the alarm was easy, but I don't know how to un-set it. The alarm went off this morning, I hit snooze a couple of times, then hit the off button. The alarm on icon is still lit, so I assume that means its on? Awesome if I wanted to get up the same every day, but tomorrow is Saturday... Was hoping to use the second alarm for weekends, but I'm scared I'll have both blasting at me!

-Speaking of blasting, I like to wake to radio. The alarm comes on soft, and then within a couple of seconds gets loud. really loud. Surpassing the volume I set the radio at last night. Might be good for heavy sleepers, but I like to not be jolted awake. I prefer to listen to the radio quietly in the morning for a few minutes, which gradually wakes my husband as well (we are both less grumpy then!

The manual is adequate for initial set up, but doesn't address these things (and I found out about turning off the led by accident). Could be an awesome clock, but just not for my needs.

Having purchased the TAO digital picture key chain, I was very excited to see a digital clock with pictures. I would recommend this product to anyone. Also, it makes a great holiday gift.

Anyone else notice that it only displays military time? The picture clearly shows PM next to the 12:34 but there's no such option on the clock settings menu. As I write this it's 1800 hours.

For all this thing can do it seems that such a simple function would be available. I only paid bucks for this and I still feel ripped off.

iLuv ArtStation Pro 30-Pin Dock Sound System (White)

iLuv ArtStation Pro 30-Pin Dock Sound System
  • Compatible With Ipad/Ipod/Iphone
  • Plays & Charges Ipad/Ipod/Iphone
  • Desktop/Bedside Speaker
  • Rotating arm for portrait or landscape viewing options
  • Charge and play your iPad, iPhone or iPod
  • Sync with iTunes on your Computer when docked
  • Easy to use on unit controls, or use the included remote
  • Made for iPad2, iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPhone, iPod touch (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation), iPod Nano (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th generation)

Now, if I were comparing this sound system to my home theater system, one that will nearly rip the flesh off your face, I would have trouble giving the iLuv a single star. But rating it without such a comparison and considering its small, compact size, it deserves a solid 5 stars.

It was easy to hook up and easy to connect to my iPhone4 and my iPad2. That said, if you have an Otter protective case on your cell, you will have to remove it first so the connection fits. I don't know about other phone covers.

The sound is of good quality with a nice deep base. I'm a martial arts teacher and I use it now as my only source of music during my classes.

Great for your office, basement hobby room, or out on your balcony.

Recommended.

Buy iLuv ArtStation Pro 30-Pin Dock Sound System (White) Now

The iLuv ArtStation is the latest addition to the crowded Sounddock craze. The tagline for this item appears to be that it is beautiful with its piano gloss black top and also a great value not being incredibly expensive. Enhanced Sound System is also in the title so my assumption is that it is suppossed to have excellent sound as well.

This item is truly meant to be used with an iPad 2 in my opinion although it is compatible with the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch. The reason I say this is because I have an iPhone 4S, an iPod Nano an iPod Touch and an iPod Classic 4th Generation and the only one that would work with this unit is indeed the iPod Touch. Read the fine print to understand this! My iPhone 4S just flat did not work with this Dock nor did my Nano or Classic when docked.

I moved to the Auxilliary jack which is on the back and all items worked fine but obviously cannot charge unless plugged in separately with an additional cable. I was shocked when I heard the sound. It's just very boxy and tinnish and quite frankly sounds drowned. The sound is so poor for an item of this price point that even my wife commented, "Is there a different setting so this thing sounds better?" Trust me, she is no audiophile.

To be fair I have had nice Sounddocks in the past such as Bose and have the Sonos Play 3 and Play 5 which I have reviews of that are amazing-but also much more expensive than this. I also have iHome units that are much less expensive than this and that is what I would compare this sound to is just better than some of the iHome $100 units.

Where this unit shines is that it is attractive and particularly with an iPad (which I do not have) looks great and probably has great form. Meaning you could have this on your desk, listen to audio through our iPad and watch a movie through the dock or play music while surfing. You can turn your iPad in to Landscape or portrait mode.

There is a small remote control that comes with the unit that can be stowed in to the back which is a nice feature.

Overall, the sound is very disappointing but for $136.00 the unit does provide an attractive base and charging station for an iPad 2. Depending on what you would use this item for, it could fit your needs, but for me looking at it as a pure speaker-the fact that it doesn't work with the iPod Nano, iPhone 4S or Classic (unless using an Auxilliary cable)is a big miss.

I got this in and was wondering how I was going to use it but was overly happy when I found it has an input jack on the back for other divices. So far I have used my Archos tablet on here for the music I have downloaded and it really sounds fantastic. I also hooked up my blackberry to it and it works great with that too. The moveable arm has an adaptive holder for the iPhone and iPod that actually works with the blackberries too. Just hook her up and then listen to whatever you like.

This is a fairly good size piece and is weighty but has a wonderful sound system to make you fall in love every time you turn it one. I love the remote also so I don't have to go over to it every time I need to turn it up or down. Only thing I was bummed about was that I can't sync it to my phone. Oh well I'm due for an up grade soon so I will probably go and get an iPhone anywho.

I have to tell you that I have this in a corner on the counter in the kitchen as that's where I listen to music the most as I like to cook. Well let me say that this has the best base and it sounds like the music is coming from each and every corner not just the one spot where I have it. I'm sure if I had the proper Apple product to work with this I would be in heavenly bliss. Great product for the $$ in my honest opinion.

Want iLuv ArtStation Pro 30-Pin Dock Sound System (White) Discount?

I love the iLuv ArtStation Sound System. I use it for both my iPhone and my iPad. I love any sound dock that holds my iPhone with the protective phone case on--that's the first thing. But this speaker set really provides great sound. It's not a small-footprint device, so it's not the type of dock you'll move around easily from room to room. The base is about the size of a large clock radio--but that's the space that's holding those really neat speakers. This baby gives a good, full sound--both highs and lows--without costing a fortune.

I also like the little remote control. It has just the basics: volume up, volume down; skip ahead one track; go back one track; pause/play; and power on/off. I like it that way, though. Nothing complicated, which is especially handy if you're feeling lazy enough to use the remote instead of getting up to use the device controls.

By the way, the dock/"system" itself has the same controls as the remote: no more, no less.

There's a neat little iLuv app you can load onto your mobile device that you can run while your device is on the dock. It has a clock that displays the time in nice big numbers and also shows the local weather: current temperature, plus forecasted high and low for the day, and it shows the date and day of the week. There are also choices to view the clock in an old-fashioned number-flip display (if you remember those), or as a nice, big analog clock face, or as 3 smaller analog clocks showing different time zones.

Then there's another tab on the app that's just for weather, showing temps plus wind, humidity and not only the current day's forecast but also 5-day and 6-10-day forecasts. The third tab is an Internet feed iLuv radio station. I never use it. I prefer my own playlists or feeds (Pandora, etc.). Then there's an iPod tab that essentially displays the Music app interface without forcing you to switch apps and go back to Music.

You're also able to use the app to set alarms or a sleep timer (cool, you can set it in any 1-minute increment from 1 to 120!). And you can set multiple alarms, too.

All the app descriptions I described are on the iPhone/iPod version. I haven't tried the app on the iPad yet. If I get to that, I'll update the description.

Summary: very good sound, easy to use, good-fitting dock connections and support brackets. Recommended.

***Late-breaking update: I've added an iPad Mini and an iPhone 5 to my repertoire here. They both have the new, tiny Lightning power connectors, while the iLuv system has the old standard 30-pin, wider connector. I bought the little Lightning-to-30-pin adapter, and that seems to work well for the iPhone 5. The phone balances well on the stubby adapter and feels secure enough in its position that I'm not worried about any potential damage to the power port on either device.

It's a different story for my iPad Mini, though. The device is bigger, wider, and heavier than the iPhone, of course, and it just doesn't balance well on the little adapter. I'm very concerned something could break, so for now I'm not using my iPad mini on the iLuv. I just wrote to iLuv support to see if a supporting bracket is or will be available for the iPad Mini, just like the one they include as a standard accessory to support the full-sized iPad. I'll update this review again when I hear back. I do have the option of using the Lightning-to-30-pin adapter cable I also have, but then I have to lay the device down on top of the dock, which makes it more difficult to control and detracts from the experience.

By the way, *still* great sound. Due to the price of this item, I won't buy a new Lightning edition if one comes out. I'll just use it for my old 30-pin devices, including the iPhone 4 which I just replaced with the 5. I'm now using the 4 as if it were an iPod Touch (and holding it in reserve in case one of our newer iPhones bites the dust or gets lost or stolen and we don't want to shell out the high price to replace it). In fact, by using my old 32GB iPhone 4 as a Touch, I can really load it up with lots of music and minimize a lot of the other things I used to keep on it, including the apps, videos, etc., that I now keep on my iPads or iPhone 5. If I choose to sample down my songs on the iPhone 4 to 128kbps, I can probably fit 7,000+ songs on it. I still have to clean out more stuff to make room for more music.

This was easy to attach we made the connection, it asked for app to work and then we had sound and lots of options. We current use this as second TV to watch all our itunes. It charges while on the stand as well. It like making your Ipad back into a computer monitor and keyboard is easy to attached. Another great features is the remote control that hooks on the back. A perfect fun accessory for you Ipad!

Speck Products CandyShell Flip Case for iPhone 4/4S - 1 Pack - Carrying Case - Retail Packaging - Bl

Speck Products CandyShell Flip Case for iPhone 4/4S - 1 Pack - Carrying Case - Retail Packaging - Black/Dark GreyI picked this case because a few of my friends had good luck with Speck products on their phones. I also felt like I was taking a little risk since there were not a lot of reviews of the product when I purchased it. Now that I received my own, I can understand why people choose this one!! The case fits the phone so well, and I have yet to run into any problems with it. The camera works perfectly with it, the bottom is cut out in a way that allows me to plug in a basic syncing cable without flipping the bottom off, the mic and speaker are not covered or blocked, the case has buttons that fit perfectly (some cases will just have cut outs to access the buttonsnot here), the pink and white case in particular looks awesome with my white 4s! Besides the color, its been my experience that cases don't always fit the phone as it should (where buttons may not fit right in the case, there are issues with the camera's flash, its not very solid/protective, etc.), but this speck case seemed to be well planned out. I'm glad I made the purchase!

When it comes to the other reviewer's comment about dirt collecting on the phone, I think I can understand where they are coming from. In the same way that rubber-ish material for some reason will collect little crumbs or whatever, that is the only thing I see happening with the case so far. Dusting it off wasn't a problem for me, and the phone has limited rubber anyway. In my opinion, its something to expect with rubber-like material in general.

The only recommendation I would make for those looking at this case is to also purchase a screen protector. You can probably get away without one too. But with the combination of the screen protector and this case, I'm no longer worried of my phone being damaged!! Which is peace of mind I think any iphone owner would appreciate :)

I just got an iPhone in October and since then have tried about 6 cases. All of them start out lovely and slick-looking, but just a couple weeks will often reveal the true quality of the case. So far nothing has passed the test, until now.

Don't get me wrong, the case is not perfect; the rubberized area does pick up color from clothing a little, and that can be annoying. But in comparison to the other cases I have had, it's pretty minimal.

The buttons on the top and sides lined up perfectly, including the open space for the toggle switch. The bottom flips open easily without putting stress on the phone, but when it's closed it feels secure and snug, not like it would ever flip open on it's own. The color is true to the photo, unlike the other "raspberry" candyshell (non-flip) by Speck that I bought (I would definitely avoid that one). The camera opening does not interfere with picture quality, and I have dropped my phone a couple times without the case cracking or the phone being damaged at all. Plus, being able to use a charging dock or a speaker without taking the case off is so convenient!

The only thing I would caution people about is that even with the flip bottom, it might still not work with your charging dock or speaker. The flipped-up area is about 1 1/2 inches long, so if your docking area has a back to it that the phone would lean against that measures higher than that, the flip bottom will still get in the way and the phone probably won't fit. All of my charge docks are open on all sides, so that's not a problem for me, but thought I should mention it.

In response to other comments, the rubber isn't that bad and I can see it scratching easily but it doesn't really bother me. But if that kind of stuff bothers you then yeah I would consider the fact that it does scratch up pretty easily. I am happy with the case though. Very cute!! I really like the SPECK cases...it's a great brand!

If I had written this review when I first purchased it 6 months, I would have given it 5 stars. I loved it. It was durable. It was easy to use. It looked sharp. Six months later, I find the rubber peeling away and now the case is loose and I am afraid the phone will become damaged. I am here at Amazon looking around to buy another case before that happens. I will not purchase the same case again. Please know that I am an adult that doesn't put their phone in their pocket or things like that. I use my phone sparingly and it is always found in a pouch inside my purchase. Therefore, this product did not stand up to limited use, I hate to see what it would be for those that really use theirs! 3 stars at best from me.

I purchased this radio to replace a 35 year old Sanyo boom box on my phone system used for music on hold (the Sanyo was on 24/7 for the last 27 years and died. Then they had the nerve to tell me it was out of warranty. Blast!)

It was cheap, the reception is good, it sounds like you'd think it would, and I'll update reliability in 25 years.

I wanted to receive reception for KYW 1060 news radio,125 miles away in Philadelphia. Only my car radio could ever pick it up. This radio does the job, so I will be retiring my GE Superadio and also an older GE 7-2825a (similar) to the thrift store. FM sound quality and pull-power is better than most for this size, even at higher volumes. The nice touches such as a soft rubber antenna cap, hinged battery door, tone control, flush-fold carry handle and separate on-off switch are appreciated. Although it plugs in, battery life is excellent, as is tuning. Earphone (meaning one) jack outputs to one ear using standard stereo earphones which is what I expected. This is good product, better than I had hoped.

This radio is as simple as it gets. Not complicated at all.

All plastic radio, yet it feels fairly sturdy.

Perfect for my desk at work. May get one for home too!

Sound is fairly good for an all plastic box.

Two setting tone switch which really works well when switching between music and talk radio.

Not giving it 5 stars because its not a superior quality radio. (not a complaint)

If you are looking for a solid work horse radio, as I was, this is your pick!

Update:

This little radio also has a tuning strength lamp which has become quite handy.

This radio is perfect for talk radio and news.

iLive Portable Music System with CD Player and Dock for iPod (Black)

iLive Portable Music System with CD Player and Dock for iPod
  • Compatibility: iPod mini; iPod nano 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G; iPod classic 4G, 5G, 5.5G, 6G; iPod touch 1G, 2G
  • Ultra-portable iPod dock lets you play and charge your iPod anywhere
  • Top-loading CD player with programmable tracks and repeat play
  • Auxiliary input for external audio devices such as MP3 players
  • AM/FM radio; full-featured remote control included

I think this is quite a bit over-priced for the quality. Almost all the radio stations come in with a lot of static, whether the volume is on low or high. At first I thought I could live with this, because I really bought it for the iPod and CD playing capabilities. Those actually work fine and the sound comes in quite clearly much better than the radio stations. The iPod can be controlled with both the Boom Box controls and the remote, which I really like. What is a deal-breaker for me though is that I wanted to use this to listen to books on CD, with the ability to unplug it from one room and plug it back into another room as I move about the house. I thought that if I had batteries in it, it would keep playing when I unplugged it. That is not the case. As soon as I plug it back into an electrical outlet, it shuts off and I have to start from scratch locating my spot on the disk. If I were just listening to music tracks this wouldn't be a big deal, but with books the tracks are very long, and trying to fast forward to the spot I was at is too tedious. There isn't a counter to help me know where I was either. I haven't run into any problems yet with using the iPod and it seems to be great for that.

Some funny design flaws that may or may not bother people have to do with the carrying handle. When the handle is down, it blocks the radio antenna. In order to pull out the antenna, you have to first lift up the carrying handle, and then you have to tilt the antenna to the back in order put the handle back down, or you have to leave the handle up. But when the handle is up, it blocks the CD player from being able to open. In order to open the CD player cover to insert or remove a CD, you have to make sure the carrying handle is down. Not at all happy with my purchase. The coolness and convenience factor of the ipod dock sold me, too bad it doesn't work as good as it looks. When you place an ipod in the dock and play audio, the sound is full of static. You can hear the audio, but the static is noticeable and annoying. Almost sounds as if its transmitting via FM signal like those car FM adaptors. I tried multiple ipods, so its definitely the boombox not an ipod issue. The cd player works, which is good since I wont use the ipod function anymore. Sound is about average, nothing special. What I have now is an average radio/cd player that I can use to recharge an ipod.

Lot's of hiss and static and all volume levels no matter the source. iPod, CD, or Radio; Loud or Softthere is VERY noticeable hiss. At low volume levels it is terrible, at high volume levels the music drowns out the hiss until the song ends and then Sssssssssssssssssssssssss... I also noticed the radio stations bleed into each other more than any device I've ever used.

It had a lot of promise with some good features and simple use, but it has since been returned.

I purchased this player as a gift for my choir leader. Rather than having to coninually change CD's, he now can pop in his I-Phone and play any one of the 500 Plus songs he has downloaded. For the price, the quality, sound, portability and ease of use surpassed my expectations. Would recommend this player to anyone who asks. Seller provided outstanding 5 Star Service. Received player one day after I ordered it.

This product does everything its suppose to. Its small and portable and has a convenient carry handle. The ac adapter comes in handy for longer uses. It looks great and the sound is even better. Nice and easy to use for you, your grandpa, or your younger child.

Braun BNC010WH-RC Digital Alarm Clock Radio White

Braun BNC010WH-RC Digital Alarm Clock Radio White
  • Braun's 2012 digital alarm clock radio
  • features updated technologies without losing the design discipline of Braun's golden era
  • top quality, scratch-resistant LCD screens
  • FM/AM radio with 6 preset function and built-in speaker
  • blue LED backlight

The physical design of this alarm clock is beautiful, as would be expected from Braun. However, I've encountered a couple of major flaws that I can't overlook and am very disappointed in. First off, the snooze function does not work when the radio is being used for the alarm! This being the CLOCK RADIO version of this product, one would only expect to be able to use the snooze function with any alarm setting, but when I hit snooze this morning, the radio just continued to play. To me, this basically makes me feel as though I wasted $100, which is already reaching the upper ends of what I'd be willing to pay for an alarm clock. Secondly, the screen is WAY too dark. I like the idea of having an alarm clock that doesn't cause a glow throughout the room, however, you have to reach over and press the light button any time you want to see the clock, night OR day!

On the positive end of things, the physical design really is excellent. The clock is small, slim and minimal. The snooze and alarm on/off buttons are a very practical and clever design that makes it easy to know when the alarm is or is not set. However these positives do not outweigh the significant oversights that have me contemplating returning the clock for one that actually does what alarm clock radio should do.

If you want a good looking alarm clock that reliably goes off when you need it to, this may be for you. But if you want to use the clock to tell time without activating the light, and want to have the option of hitting the snooze button when waking up to the radio, sadly I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

UPDATE: After receiving this response from Braun, I'll be returning the clock, although I do appreciate them being up front about it (even though it would have been nice to see this clarified prior to making the purchase):

"Thank you for your below enquiry and apologies for this inconvenience.

The clock's snooze function designed to work only with the "beep" function. If this is an important function for you then I would advise you to obtain credit for this clock as this function cannot be altered. Once again we apologies for this inconvenience. If you have any further query do not hesitate to contact us."

I needed a white AM/FM radio no more than 7 inches long and 3 inches wide to fit in a bathroom wall cabinet, to be out of the way when not in use,in our newly remodeled bathroom. The Braun was the perfect fit. Sleek, bright white with a digital display, and both battery & DC operated. The problems started when I turned it on. First, it does not come with a DC outlet adapter. I had to scour the house and find one, as this is optional.Next, when it self-programmed, it did not locate most of the AM stations in my area, and I am not in a rural area....ever hear of Brooklyn, NY? The digital display is dim most times, so it would not be good for use as an alarm clock in a dark room; but it does light for 3 seconds when the button is pressed. As I don't use it as an alarm clock this is not a problem. Efforts to control the volume are futile, no matter which way you roll the wheel, it does what it wants, and getting it where I want is a challenge. It allows pre-settings, which works for me. And $100 is too much to generally pay for an AM/FM radio.

I have since learned to live with my Braun. I found FM stations that play the AM stations, I couldn't find.I leave the volume on one setting which is OK most of the time. The FM receptions is decent for the 2 or 3 stations I prefer during my 15 minutes a day getting cleaned up and ready to go. So, I love the design and have come to accept the other flaws...not for everyone, but OK for me.

Philips AJL750/37 Kitchen Clock Radio with 7-inch TV

  • Features under-cabinet mounting for clutter-free kitchen counters; flip-down display panel saves counter space

I purchased this item and returned it the next day. The television and radio worked as expected. HOWEVER, the television did not pick up/program the cable stations. Out of about 150 cable programs, it only accepted 17 channels. I called Philips and they said it was designed for people who want to use an antenna. If you use an antenna and do not want to hook up to cable, I feel the set wourld work fine. Do not buy it if you expect to get all your cable chanels on the set.

This is just what we needed in our Kitchen. It barely fits under our counter, but it works very nicely. I plugged it in hooked up my cable tv cable, and set the unit up with out any problem. Picture quality is just fine though I have no HD source hooked up to it. Didn't really get this tv for HD viewing. Found all my basic cable channels fine with out any additional tuner. Probably the best television speakers in my house. The audio quality isn't high end, but the sound is pretty rich for such a small unit. Be warned though if your cabinets aren't any deeper than 12 in. it will be a tight fit, and the unit will stick out a little from the front of your cabinet. It would fit much better under a 14 to 16 in cabinet. Mine are 12 in and the unit sticks out about an in., and getting the cable hooked up required me taking the unit back down. It's a tight fit.

My wife has wanted an TV for the kitchen for some time. I was fortunate to find this unit on sale (Gold Box) and got it for Christmas. She could not be more pleased. The picture quality is great and the sound is surprisingly good. At times she simply listens to the radio and I am really surprised at how clear and loud this little unit can be. I would purchase it again even if it weren't on sale.

I had previously purchased a Phillips 7" TV and loved it. After about 5 years it broke so I replaced it with this version. Not only does this one not have a DVD player or AM radio but it is not compatible with cable television. I called up Phillips directly and they said the TV can only be used with an antenna. What a joke! I returned it the next day.
