As for the SD/USB operation. I'm not one to use subfolders or playlists, so I can't comment on navigating the system. One important thing to note though, is if you sync your music using Windows Media or Itunes, which creates folders with album art, etc. for each song, it may cause a misread if you have too many folders on the drive. I tried a 4gb SD card with approx 360 songs and it wouldn't read it, and then tried again with only the mp3s on the card and it worked fine.
Overall the performance is good, I think if you have good speakers, you'll be happy. Big dissapointment that the faceplate isn't detachable. But for $48 it looks and performs well, and looks stock enough that thieves will probably mistake it as such.
Update: I've used the unit for a few days now and have noticed a few things: The AM on the tuner has poor sound, very tinny, even for AM. Reception on the AM band isn't great either, but passable with strong signals. The random feature for the USB/SD slots is truely random, so you may get duplicates of the same song. Not a big deal, but worth note. The remote works well, no real limit in range from what I've seen. I do like that the major control buttons are closer to the drive. The EQ settings aren't bad, but I recommend turning it off and manually ajusting bass and treble to your liking.

The unit is louder than my previous Sony and the materials used to make it will hopefully last longer in the harsh marine environment. The buttons on the front are not the most user friendly, but it does come with a remote which works great. I would recommend this unit for anyone who will be using the radio in a marine environment.Read Best Reviews of Pyle PLMR88W AM/FM-MPX IN-Dash Marine MP3 Player/USB & SD Card Function Here

A great radio that fit in my price range!Options for expansions is a bonus.
Decent sound for 160 watts.
Got it so I could pop in my Iphone on the boat, so the auxiliary input was a good feature; one my last radio did not have
Worth the price i paid here oon Amazon for good sounding tunes out on the water.so, for the cost, i'd say it has decent sound and the stereo unit itself feels like it's made good. i installed it just like any other stereoget extra wire of course, but it went in fine, the screen is bright and looks much nicer than i thought it looked in the picture, i was happy about that.
