Those of you expecting impeccable sound quality, c'mon. You're not gonna get that from a cheapie shower radio. Otherwise, great deal for the price. I've been enjoying it practically every shower since I bought it, and it still works great. Here's a tip: find a spot in your shower where it will receive most of the stations you listen to, and LEAVE IT THERE. You can use the suction cups, or it comes with a stand as well. The dials are a bit slippery when wet, and it's real easy to scroll by a station. The sound quality is loud enough to be heard over the shower, and there is a clock to help keep you on time. It's a good deal, and you can probably find a color to match your decor (i did!).
This radio will not hold a station. You're constantly tuning and trying to find the signal again (and this is not because I live in the middle of nowhere...I'm right downtown and all my other radios work great).
Not only that, but it also goes through three AAA batteries every week.
Finally, the knobs are almost impossible to work with wet fingers.
I'd skip it, and buy something else.

I don't care how cheap something is, it has to at least work without making you angry, and at this, this item fails.Sound quality is barely acceptable. You have to turn it up really loud to hear anything. Talk radio is OK but you will not enjoy listening to music on this thing.
The sound cuts in and out and you have to constantly fiddle with the button, and it goes REALLY REALLY LOUD to (cut-off dead quiet). No middle ground.
I nearly punched this thing through the wall today.
The reason why I am on Amazon today is I am going to buy a radio to replace this piece of garbage.
Still, 2 stars because at least it was very cheap. Does that make sense?

I was specifically looking for a radio that I could connect an MP3 player to it.
This was exactly what I was looking for, and the price made it even better.
I figured since it didnt look the most durable and since its going to be out in the garage it probably wont last very long...
But I mounted the radio and the speakers under cupboards ( rigged it up with the sticky velcro stuffthere is nothing on the radio or the speakers that would let you mount then otherwise )so it would be out of the way.
I was worried the speakers wouldnt be loud enough to be able to hear the music ontop of me working on projects, my car, using power tools, etc...
But it actually isnt bad. I can turn it all the way up and sounds pretty good-It doesnt have bass or isnt as clear as my car stereo or my home stereo-but its great for my garage or even in the bedroom or office it would be perfect.
It doesnt charge the IPod or MP3 player-but its still a good little radio.
For the MP3 player there is a connector on the radio that plugs right into where the headphones would.
I am happy with my purchase and for the price cant really beat it!

I bought this (from CVS) in hopes to use it as an alarm clock. The iPod alarm function only plays your music as the alarm is buzzing at the same time. What? NOT what I was looking for. Also, it does not have a snooze feature. The speakers and radio worked just fine, and as others have said, this works best as external speakers for an mp3 player. This product has decent sound and is quite functional.A bit larger than I expected but that was more of a pleasent suprise.
Its alarm clock functions are a bit lacking but it is a great radio/speaker system for the desk and office.
The FM/AM radio does a very nice job at picking up stations and the clock on it is easy to setup and see.
The volume is plenty loud, the sound is okay. It's not the best audio around, but it's great for the price point this unit is being sold at.
The speakers have plenty of cable, so they can easily be moved around for best placement for sound.
Attaching your iPod is as simple as plugging the attachment on the top into your earphone input, then turning your iPod on and pushing play. You use all the of iPod's/MP3 players's buttons to control the music being played. There is also a secondary "rear auxiliary input" that comes on a small cable. This allows your to attach MP3 players without using the plug on the top (which is best set up for holding a small iPod shuffle).
Very nice little speaker system when your looking for something simple at a very affordable price.

I bought these speakers for my daughter who is 4 and she loves them. The sound quality isn't that great as you turn the volume up but it's easy to use and does what you need it to.It says that it supports the ipod Nano (5th gen) but my neice who has the same speaker said that it doesn't charge it although it does play it just fine.
My daughter has an iTouch 2nd gen and altho the specs didn't state that it would work with the speakers, it totally does. It fits into it just fine when I take out the white plastic casing holder (they're removeable). The only thing it doesn't do is charge the ipod while playing music...probably b/c it's not a supported player.

I bought this HK dock/speakers at Target for almost ONE HALF of what amazon is offering here at.I agree, the higher the volume the more distorted the sound becomes. But considering that is true for all speakers, it can be overlooked. The option to use this device as a docking station or just a speaker set is really great.
Initially, I bought this as a way for me to listen to my ipod at work. But I have since brought it home and it occupies a place on my night stand. For the sheer amount of output from the speakers, it's not a bad little system at all.
If you're expecting high-tech sound from this, you are going to be disappointed. My only other reservation is the price I see it listed here as. I would suggest you look elsewhere.

If you are new to short-wave, this is an very good radio to start with. For beginners, the lock-on tuning and scanning functions make listening easy. Great sensitivity and sound in a small radio.Very simple to operate.
It's to be compared with the Sony 7600G, in choosing a portable, its chief competitor. You can't go wrong with either one.
The YB400 audio is much better than the Sony, and the operation is easier than the Sony.
The interference rejection however is better in the Sony because of the Sony's synch detector, if interference of strong stations is a consideration, or if ``selective fading,'' common on shortwave or twilight AM broadcasting, where the carrier fades below the sidebands causing distortion, is a problem. This is also solved by synch detection.
If distance daytime AM listening is desired, the Sony with its fast AGC is better than the YB400 with its slow AGC, because you can add a MW loop (Select-a-tenna, Terk Loop, or Radio Shack MW loop) and tune it successfully with a fast AGC. It's difficult to tune with the YB400's slow AGC, though sometimes you can turn the switch to local and disable the AGC temporarily to do it.
(Slow AGC gives you an edge in copying interfering morse code stations, however, because the louder station won't modulate the weaker one on the YB400, and it will on the Sony.)
For strong stations, pick the YB400 for the audio. For interference or AM distance listening with a MW loop, pick the Sony.

While I'm not exactly a shortwave hobbyist I've used shortwave radios on every one of my travels overseas. That being said the YB 400 PE is the best SW I've ever had. This Grundig brings a lot of features to the table such as digital tuning, forty presets, great capture of stations and above average sound. I've really enjoyed using the 400 and its great features.One complaint I had was that the manual that accompanies it does an inadequate job of explaining some of the functions and the pre-sets are all inclusive, that is it's forty pre-sets for all bands FM/SW/LW/MW rather than per band. But these are small things that shouldn't take away from the overall excellence of the radio.
I'm getting ready to go on an extended trip to the third world and the Grundig YB 400PE is at the top of my packing list.
Within minutes of putting the batteries in the unit I was listening to stations from all over the world. To maximize your listening, especially as a newer listener, buy a good guide like Passport to Worldband Radio.
I have read all the reviews, and I believe the tone quality is better than the naysayers lead you to believe. The tuning is very simple, and once you try all the functions, the operations are intuitive.
I considered the Sony and the ATS-909 among others. I read hundreds of reviews, and I was convinced that the biggest weakness of the Yacht Boy is SSB reception. I have been satisfied with that feature on mine, and since it works ok for me, I'm not sure what the grumbling is all about.
If I had it to do all over again, which radio would I buy? This one. I'm perfectly satisfied with it.
By the way, if you have questions or ever need help, I have found that the Eton (Grundig U.S) customer service and technical folks are extremely helpful.

Draw backs. Requires USB port to charge (or separate USB charger that you buy). Supplied ear buds are terrible. If you want to listen to music you will have to buy something better. Does not work with Mac OS X. You cannot drag and drop from Mac. Player is not recognized at all by Mac. Technical support says if you put more than 9 folders on player, it may (or may not) erase something already there. They are working on upgrade to firmware to address this issue.
Overall I am very pleased with player and use almost all the features. I highly recommend it. iPod comes up short on features by comparison.

This is a great product, its small & chunky (like a Zippo lighter), wonderful craftsmanship, a very nicely made quality device, the screen is bright and colorful, for such a tiny device the controls are surprisingly easy to operate (I love the background strobe or flash light which comes up everytime the navigator button is depressed), it works with Windows Media Player, its loud, has a hook for a neck strap,its easy to sync, you can even drag & drop files, feature by feature it beats iPod (even the dimensions make it easier to carry it around in the pocket), has an FM Tuner/recorder, Mic, Voice Recorder and best of all line in encoding (with this feature you can record from virtually any other device if it has a line out (an earphone port i.e. a headphone socket would do just fine as well), I actually have the YP-T7JX which is identical except that it only has 512MB but comes in a cool Aqua color.I had to reset the device after I had to shut down the computer when I was charging the device for the very first time via the USB port and it left the device lifeless, it wouldn't load or charge, anyway I called Samsung customer service and they adviced me to hit the reset button which I did and then everything went just fine (make sure when you are charging it the first time that you don't disturb...don't have your computer go on standby or hibernate).
All in all, I recommend this 100%, you can't go wrong here, this gadget is cool.
Just an idea for Samsung for the next evolution of this product, build tiny speakers into this like a miniature boom-box, so one can just leave it on the desk and listen without the headphones (its possible to do this even now for a short while in a quiet room, the sound coming out the headphones is quite loud when its set to full volume)

I just picked this up in December and have not put it down since! What a terrific product Samsung has put out for us music/gadget fanatics! This little guy is impressive to look at with a very robust and colorful screen, the menus are easy to navigate through and it is user-friendly all the way around. I was torn between this and the iPod Nano but I'm very happy with my selection thus far especially since it offers the option of an FM tuner which you can record from directly into the unit! I bought a rubberized cover for it which I highly recommend to keep it clean, prevents slipping when you put it on a surface and protects against scratching the outer casing. Other owners have dinged the earbuds on this but I don't have any complaints except that they fall out from time to time (as with any earbud) so I'll most likely upgrade to BOSE noise-cancelling earphones. The sound on this unit is EXCELLENT as it has surround sound capabilities and different settings to choose from. In addition to my 1GB unit, I purchased two 512MB units as Christmas gifts so that should tell you something about my level of satisfaction. I also purchased a two year replacement contract since as with any portable device, the risk of damage is greater. If I could put something on a wish list it would be that Samsung include a case and neckstrap with the unit as mine did not come with those items. I was so undecided between getting this Samsung vs. the iPod Nano. Going with the Apple felt 'comfortable' as they are everywhere and my kids both have one. Problem I had with Apple products is that there is no FM Tuner (biggie); and I also hate the little 'roadblocks' that Apple places on music file movement between programs (another biggie). My final reason for choosing the Samsung is that I've NEVER had a bad product with their label on it.Now onto my general thoughts on the YP-T7z: 1 gig, color screen, multiple adjustment options such as full band EQ, Bass Boost, 3D effect adjust, Surround adjust. This Samsung is simply amazing when it comes to sound tayloring. Earbuds are adequate however a larger driver phone really sets off all the adjustments you can do. Battery life is fair I really wish this ran on a AAA vs. the rechargable ION. Look for 5-6 hours of MP3 and about 10 hours of FM usage. Product fit and finish is A+++. Locate and remember where the reset button is, I connected mine to my wife's older (slow) laptop and, while the file swapping worked, the unit had to be reset before it would operate again (just FYI).
Highly recommend this product if you want to avoid the iPod cattle call.
Update 2/25/07:
Wow...I love this samsung even more. I accidentally left it in the laundry machine and it survived! Now, I'm not saying that it will survive a second time, but at least you're given a little leeway for carelessness.

I set the DRA-N5BK up in my finished basement, where I planned to use it. First step was to connect it to my home wi-fi(located on the second floor of the house). I used the WPS button on my router and the back of the Denon, and was connected in about 1 minute.
Next, sign into Pandora. I used the keypad on the remote, like you would text from a phone without a qwerty keyboard, to enter username/password. In less then a minute, all my Pandora channels were available on the Denon, sweet! After selecting a channel, a % counts up to 100 in under 5 seconds, and a song begins to play. There is never any buffering again until you change stations, and even then it only takes a few seconds to spool up.
I also have an online SiriusXM subscription. This was the same experience, signed in and connected with no delay.
The display is easy to read, and provides all pertinent info, including artist, song title, and album name.
I am using Bose 201 speakers, which sounds great. The Denon system has no problem pushing these bookshelf speakers. The 65 watts/channel was more then enough power. I also added the Bic V-80 subwoofer (purchased through Amazon)BIC AMERICA V-80 8" 100 Watt Powered Subwoofer, and with these 3 combined speakers, it is absolutely plenty of power to create great sounding music in the 15'x15' area I have in the basement.
I was also pleased with the sound quality of the Pandora and Sirius feeds. I have a Roku hooked up to my living room setup, and even at moderate volumes, the sound is distorted because of the broadcast quality coming through the wireless connection. Not the case with the Denon, Pandora and Sirius sound crisp even at very high levels.
I have also used the ipod dock on top of the Denon, again no problems at all, I can choose to control the ipod through the Denon, or directly on the ipod.
I thought it would be nice to have an FM tuner built in, then I realized the "Internet Radio" source provided me with all my local radio stations, from NPR, to my local Rock/Pop stations, etc...really impressive.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a straightforward, simple to use, great sounding, 2.1 receiver. It really was worth my money.

I literally spent weeks searching for an Internet based radio that was capable of delivering room filling sound. All of the most popular ones seemed to be more oriented toward the type you would use as a bedside clock radio with very poor quality speakers. There were some exceptions, such as the Grace Mondo and Logitech Squeezebox Internet radios, but these came with a single mono speaker. Both sounded good, but not capable of room filling sound. That's when I finally discovered the Denon DRA-N5BK Networking Music System. I purchased it with the recommended Denon SC-N5BK speakers and chose not to add a sub-woofer.When the system arrived, I was a little dismayed to discover that the instructions were on a CD-ROM. While I suppose it's not really a big deal, I felt that for the price paid, Denon should have included a print version of the user manual. I just find that when you're setting up a system such as this, it's a lot easier to do so if you have a copy of the manual by your side. I placed a call to Denon expressing my concern. Not only were they understanding, but they also agreed to immediately send me out a print copy of the manual. The very next day I received a large envelope in the mail. It contained not just a print copy of the manual, but a beautiful binder in which it was enclosed. Now that's what I consider class.
Using the manual, I had no problem connecting the speakers and following the clearly written instructions to set up the rest of the system. The manual mentioned how to set up the system using the WPS button on my router, however after calling customer support, I was told that it could be set up without using WPS, which is what I did. After entering my password, the radio connected to the Internet in just a few seconds.
My next step was to sign in to both my SiriusXM and Pandora accounts. Thankfully, once you sign into your accounts, you'll never have to do so again. I say this because using the keypad on the remote is time consuming, especially if you have a long e-mail address and/or password. I won't deduct any stars for this, but do feel that there could be an easier way to sign into accounts. If I had to sign into my accounts every time I used the radio I would have returned it. Thankfully that's not the case.
Both SiriusXM and Pandora worked flawlessly, although the sound quality of SiriusXM is better simply because Pandora streams at only 128 bit rate, while SiriusXM is broadcast live. Using the speakers mentioned above, I have no trouble at all filling up a large room with beautiful, crisp sound that has superb treble as well as mid and low range bass. The sound is astounding, period.
In addition to the stations mentioned above, the radio is capable of tuning into tons of Internet stations, as well as all of your local area stations. It also comes with Apple AirPlay support so you can wirelessly stream audio tracks from any compatible PC, Android device, or Apple mobile device. The music system comes with an iPhone/iPod Touch dock, which works perfectly on all versions except the iPhone 5 and iPod Touch 5th generation. To use those, you'll need to purchase the lightning adapter from Apple to convert the 30 pin connector on the dock to the new 8 pin standard.
The one area that I feel Denon could have improved upon is the display screen. While much less expensive radios, such as the Logitech Squeezebox and the Grace Mondo come with color screens, this one is plain black and white. It displays the album name, artist and song title, but does not display album covers such as on other radios. I'm deducting 1 star, as I feel that for the money paid, the screen should be in color and the album art should be included with the display. Obviously, this has no effect on the quality of the sound, but to me it was a feature that I would have liked.
The bottom line is that the Denon DRA-N5BK Desktop Networking Music System is a top of the line product. It delivers beautiful room filling sound when combined with the recommended Denon speakers and there's no need for an additional sub-woofer. This is an excellent product from an exceptional company. Aside from the screen issue mentioned above, this is pure perfection.

I was in the market for a plain receiver to hook up my turntable to. A friend of mine told me about this unit. After reading I thought it sounded interesting. After buying I'm blown away!!!Internet radio, Pandora, Spotify, XM radio, give you endless options for listening. That coupled with A analog input and a digital optical input this has become my home theater system as well as my turntable receiver. Not to mention Ipod docking station and USB input.
With all these options you figure the catch would have to be a lack of high end sound. NOPE! It sounds great!!! It fills my living room with deep rich sound. I opted for the Denon SC-N5BK speakers that are paired with it.
Cant say enough good things about this unit.
