If you are looking to get a top-of-the-line radio, this is the one to get. The only thing I can say negative about this radio is that the price is a little steep. Its not for everyone but for those serious radio people out there, get this radio. I heard there were some quality issues with the 1st Ccrane radio but they have all been resolved with this radio. It has weather, HAM, AM and FM. It also has an alarm, timer, sleep function and just about everything you need or can have in a radio except World Band. When I got this radio I was surprised how solid and heavy it feels, especially with the batteries in it (4-D cells) I got the black model (not silver) and was also surprised how good it looks. This radio also has a line out and line in jack and place for a external AM antenna. It has all the bells and whistles someone could possible want or ask for. I havent used the HAM radio function yet and probably wont too much but I hear it could come in handy if a natural disaster occurs and knocks out the local radio stations or other media. The weather channel works great and is a nice feature when you want to check the local weather. It also has a weather alert function that you can keep on and the radio will alert you if there is severe weather on the way. Again, probably not a feature you will use a lot but its great to have just in case. AM and FM work great and you probably wont find a radio that outperforms this radio or has all the features this radio has. It also has a built in light that you can keep on or turn off when you choose. I was debating on whether to purchase this radio because of the price but I am glad I did. I have it on all the time and like the timer feature because I can keep it on when I go to bed and can set it for 120, 90, 60, 30 or 15 minutes and it will turn off if I dose off at night and wont drain the batteries. Like I said, I have had this radio for about 3 months and absolutely love it. A feature I am the most surprised about, I forgot to add, is the sound quality is very, very good. I used to have a GE Super Radio III and thought the sound quality was good but this radio is even better. The C Crane Co CC2B radio receiver is the best I have ever used. The reception is exceptional for all bandwidths. The quality is top of the line. The operation of the different functions is staight forward easy to understand and perform. In all this radio is an engineering work of art. I recommend this radio to anyone. I live in an area that is rural where reception is not consistent, and my house tends to inhibit good radio frequency reception. This radio is consistently picking up everything I want even without an added external antenna. When you spend $150+ on a radio and cannot see the time, stations, band or anything it just keeps rubbing you the wrong way you know. Problem started within six months after I rec'd it as a gift from my family. They purchased it new from C Crane. I called CC for help and they could only recommend I may want to try resetting it, no acknowledgment it was a wide spread problem or offer any solutions or trade in. Will never buy another CC product. Will give them credit though the sound and reception are very good if I could just see what station its on. Purchased it many years ago.

Just wanted to help those who want to know about the mounting. You have to mark and drill though the bottom of the cabinet. Then counter drill the holes from the inside of the cabinet. Screws are placed down through the cabinet into the mounting holes on the unit. The spacers work great. One size of the spacers fits our cabinet perfect. Did not give it a five stars because the TV does not stay in the folded up position. This does not matter to me I leave it down all the time. Bad picture, bad sound..If you have cable, it needs 2 remotes, one to turn it on, mute and adjust volume; the other to change channels. We bought it to replace a 20 year old under counter TV, but it's not as good as the ugly old fat one.

I've got Tecsun PL-600, which has AMAZING clarity audio considering it's size, it's crystal clear, with rich bass, and makes you wonder, how such small radio produces such nice sound? But, it has only one speaker, mono. I needed something with same sound quality, but with stereo speakers. So, I bought PL398MP. And I was unpleasingly disappointed, radio has cheap, bass-less pong-pong sound. Of course, it is more feature rich, can be recharged from USB, has mp3 player, but in audio quality it suffers, so no way it can replace PL-600.

This Sony Dream Machine CD/Alarm Clock is by far the best available anywhere at any price. I replaced my aging Sony Dream Machine (10 years old) with this one. Not at all disappointed. It's very easy to program, sounds good for 2 small stereo speakers in an alarm clock! The ice blue luminecence of the alarm clock is awesome. You can set it to Bright, Dim or Off. The LCD display is very clear, large and easy to read in all lighting. Very easy to turn off either of the dual alarms, when you don't have to get up in the morning! Awaken to alarm (which starts out soft and gets louder) or your favorite radio station (excellant FM reception by the way, not too many alarm clocks can say that!) or wake up to your favorite CD track! All very well thought out and easy to program. This alarm clock is idiot proof. Take this Sony out of the box, plug it in and the correct time is automaticly displayed. Eastern Standard time is the default. Those in other time zones just have to push a small button on the side (hidden from main buttons so you won't push it by accident) keep pushing button until your correct time zone PST, MST, etc. comes up on the display and you're done. The correct time! Note, you can also easily set it manually if you prefer. The lithium battery back-up should last 10 years. Another plus, not having to worry if the power goes out. Sony pretty much thought of everything on this CD/Alarm Clock. I've had mine for 3 months now. And I can't really think of anything I would change on it or anything extra I would add to it. Simply put, as perfect as you can get. Just like most anything Sony makes. Looking forward to using this for 10 years! By the way my nephew is using my old Sony Dream Machine, it's still working perfectly! You have to buy this Sony Dream Machine, yeah it's pricey but remember these days YOU GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR!

I LOVE my Timex XM Radio! It has pretty good sound for such a small radio, and the XM xhannels seem to load faster than my Father's Delphi. It has so many great features, like the AUX input and you can program 2 alarms, which can wake you with either an XM channel, FM, AM or a buzzer. The screen is very bright, which is great during the day, but at night it can be a little TOO bright. Even when you turn the brightness down, it's still a little brighter than I would like. You can also program about 30 Favorite Channels (which is probably too much to even remember). And the "TuneSelect" tells you when a song you have selected is currently playing. But for some reason, when you are listening to that song, it still tells you the song is playing. But all these little flaws are so insignificant, it doesn't even matter. I may have purchased the last Timex TMX1 Satellite series XM ready alarm clock radio on the shelf. This radio does what it's name describes. The radio has 2 alarms, it can be programmed to wake to music or the buzzer for two different times. The radio eliminates jumping from one station to another by choosing a category of music, talk, sports, etc. There are numerous options for preset stations. It's a great unit....compact, easy to use, attractive but elusive: I don't think it's being produced any longer and the antenna (which was sometimes included) is even more difficult to obtain. Be very careful when buying an XM antenna for this. TImex is never listed on websites when you search for the correct antenna. It takes an Audiovox(Terk?) CNP 1000.....not the confusing 2000/2000H model and definitely NOT one with a round plug in connector. This radio needs the small "D" shaped USB connector with four pins.

This is officially my first review....of anything, online. After my most recent aneurism with trying to set the alarm on this device (yes, I have had more than one) I felt it my civic duty to bring my pain and suffering to whomever wants to listen. I purchased this device for my daughter, who has very limited nightstand space. It is small and packs a decent punch, all things considered. The only real issue I have is with how difficult it is to program the alarm function. Even using the provided user manual I eventually made my way to my computer to "google" for help. More than once, the "buzzer" alarm (not the iPod selection I thought I made) would shriek out at midnight! Not good. Easy to use, very small, works great for my purpose (bedside clock radio that charges my iPod). This is not the unit to choose if you intend to listen to music on it all the time--it's just too small and the speakers aren't good enough for that.

I needed a shallow depth radio to fit in tight space in small english sports car. this little radio fit the bill. sounds good and has some nice features that i didnt expect to see on such a low cost unit.As far as sound quality and features are concerned, you get what you pay for with this unit. It isn't fantastic, but it does well for the basics. Functionally, it performed to my expectations (I purchased it to install in my Polaris RZR). It has basic bass/treble/mid settings and front/rear/left/right speaker settings as well. It has an old school "green screen," but that's no big deal for installation into an off-road vehicle. I like that it supports SD cards, USB jump drives, and has a standard headphone jack... this is one reason I purchased this item rather than a cd player. A cd player would be disastrous with all the bouncing around that a head unit does in a side-by-side. The reason for my two-star rating is because I feel this item is falsely advertised as being a "marine" unit. With this label, I expected the unit to stand up to light exposure to the elements, primarily moisture. It absolutely did NOT. After only 3 months, the buttons stopped working, and the unit acted like the volume button was stuck. My father opened it up to discover that it was packed full of dust, deep inside to the electronics panel. He tried to gently clean it, but the unit never even powered back on after that. To be fair, I'm sure that this unit was not designed to withstand the exposure to dust that it received. However, that is not my actual complaint. My issue is, the only reason they labelled this unit as "marine" is because someone (the company, presumably?) COVERED THE VENT HOLES IN THE OUTER CASE WITH A PIECE OF BLACK DUCT TAPE. Seriously??? Nothing else about the unit was even close to being sealed or had any visible physical modifications to make it a "marine" unit. Had I known this, I wouldn't have purchased it in the first place. I would have paid a little more money for a unit that was actually designed to be a "marine" unit. Bottom line, if you are looking for a cheap unit that will get you the basics, this is a decent unit for the money. Just don't buy it based on the "marine" feature.
