(2008 HOLIDAY TEAM) Previously I used the iHome iD84BZ App-Enhanced Dual Alarm Clock Radio for iPad/iPhone/iPod with AM/FM Presets (Black) to charge my iPhone and listen to music, however this is almost identical to that iHome System in almost every way (except this is twenty-five dollars cheaper). This system too, will take your iPad and charge it, holding the iPad securely with a rubberized device rest behind it. The entire system is made of a tough black metal construction with bright silver buttons on the top for easy functionality. The speakers produce a good solid range of sound with an added 3D feature that opens up the sound range remarkably, due to a small 1/2" woofer hole in the rear. The volume and 'set' buttons are large and easily visible to set volume/bedtime modes and the 'set' buttons handle the time display on the front of the system. That clock display is large and easily read with Alarm #1, Alarm #2, iHome App Indicator (yes, you get an extra App for this device), battery indicator (2 AA batteries), AM/PM indicator and time.

Also on top of the unit are easy buttons for both alarms play/pause, equalizer, presets, mode and alarm reset. There is also a wide Snooze/Dimmer button for eight different displays of light intensity.

The rear of the unit is used for setting your time, time sync, time zone and DST switch with an AM Loop Antenna socket and a Line-in Jack and power cable jack. You only need to deal with these once. The unit comes with a detachable antenna, which is a plastic rectangle set in a plastic stand. This piece is flimsy and seemingly out of character with the quality that is the rest of the unit. A metal antennae attached to the unit would have been nicer. There is also a convenient wafer thin remote that runs on a lithium battery (I don't see the point of this).

Whether you use an iPod, iPhone or iPad, this clock/radio system is very good, particularly for the price, which is less than the other version I mentioned above. The sound is also amazingly crisp with a good range. It's great to be able to set all the music functions of your iPad, iPhone device using the buttons on the unit. If you protect your iPod/iPhone/iPad with a device (such as an Otterbox), you can remove a rubber strip that gives you depth room to set and recharge your device without worry. Apple is always coming up with new household items and this alarm clock/dock is a great unit to own or give as a gift. This version of iHome will save you money over previous editions.

I have placed photos in the photo section of this page. Check them out for more details.

I have reviewed a knock-off of this clock for Amazon in the past. (see the product here, but it's a different page and my review is not on it: http://www.amazon.com/Memorex-Clock-Radio-Ipod-iphone/dp/B004Y3BKI0/ref=sr_1_24?ie=UTF8&qid=1337650403&sr=8-24 ) The knock off looks good, and is similarly priced to the "real" iHome clock being reviewed here.

The fact that this will allow you to charge/link with your iPad is a big plus for me. I have iPods, iPhones, and the new iPad, but haven't had anything that links with the iPad and it's a great feature. The connector is placed in such a way that it links right up, and --this is cool-syncs with your clock on the iPad if you press the "time sync" button on the back. Setup is literally a 30 second process, and that includes plugging it in and putting the iPad into place (tops!).

It does say that it works with most covers/cases--I found that it would not work with mine. (The Speck Products new iPad FitFolio Case SPKA1186, seen here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007IPZ8VG ) I had to remove it, which is sort of a bummer, but it is so easy to get it back into the case (and out of the case) that it's not a biggie to me. Of course, it links up with your iPad, iPhone, and iPod.

If you look at the buttons on the back (see photo), you see that it has Daylight Savings Time, Time Set, Time Sync, and Time Zone options. It has a Line-In for auxiliary audio.

The GREAT part about this clock is the App function. Go to the App Store and search for iHome and download iHome Sleep and iHome Radio to your iPad (or iPod). Now, the manual says nothing about a third App, called iSet--this App works, too! And not only does it work, you SHOULD download it, because it expands your clock into a piece of art. I am attaching photos to the photo section of this page. It gives you a lot of control over how your iPad looks while it's hooked to the clock--with some really nice looking backgrounds. The Apps give you so many options, from radio stations that you'd not normally get in your area (I had to pay $1.99 for the iHome Radio App) and very easy to personalize settings for your clock and your radio functions. You can easily set your alarms for certain days, and keep adding more and more special alarms as necessary (you're not limited to the two that are part of the clock). These are through the iHome Apps.

The quality of the music is superior to any clock radio I have heard. Of course, it's no Bose, but it's just fine for listening to music while you fall asleep or while you wake up...or while you work in your office...

I really like this clock, and think that the Apps make it phenomenal.

This is my second recent iHome radio dock I've had an opportunity to review, the other is the iHome iD37GZC which has a couple of advantages over this device: it has an auxiliary USB charging port and it's much more compact. My wife uses the extra charging port all the time, as we will often want to charge two iPhones or an iPhone and an iPad simultaneously, so you might want to consider the other one just for that.

As for this one, it has its benefits. It is solidly built with an attractive metal front grill. The clock display is dimmable over many levels, and my wife's first request was for me to dim it all the way down; at all levels the display is easy on the eyes, has good contrast and is generally attractive. Controls are large, varied and amply spaced, so you likely can learn to find them in the dark. The large size is a bit off putting, but at least an iPad seems proportionate. Finally, the companion iOS app is attractive and competently executed, I was particularly taken by the button to find local streaming radio stations, so I was quickly sampling New Hampshire Public Radio. I like that the newer iHome clock docks have a button to sync their time with the device, makes daylight saving time conversion quick.

As for the downside, sound is OK, and if you grade on a curve of clock radios good, but still a little hollow sounding even after playing with the equalizer settings. Docking is a bit harder than I'm used to, and the flexible connector idea is pretty picky against even moderately thick iPhone cases, so people with protective cases might want to look elsewhere. And of course, the 30 pin docking connector is incompatible with the current Lightning connector sporting iOS devices unless a pricey and awkward Apple adaptor is added.

In general, a competive, mid-range iOS dock and clock which will look good on a largish bedside table.

I recently received this iHome clock radio stand for my iPod and I really like it.

I purchased my first iHome portable speaker system for my iPod years ago.

It is a mini boom box design and still works well today 6-7 years later.

Not too long ago, I added an iHome iD37 alarm clock stand to my collection.

I use it nightly to charge my iPhone and use it as my alarm. It works great

and doesn't take up much room on the nightstand.

That prompted me to get this iHome product, the iD83. The iD83 is a larger

version of the iD37 with the added features that being bigger it is capable of

holding my iPad stable even when it is in the case I have on it. My case on my iPad

is a Belkin Snap Shield Thin Perforation Case for Apple iPad 2 (Gray)

and I use an iPad smart cover to protect the screen. Even with the extra bulkiness

the iPad sits on the iD83 without any problems.

The iD38 has good sound and all the other features I have come to expect with

iHome devices. This includes the iOS alarm and radio apps that can be purchased

for free on the Apple App store.

This is another great product from iHome and I recommend.

This device does everything that a clock-radio should do.

Pros:

You don't need an iDevice present in order to have a working alarm clock. There's a radio option and a buzzer option too for the alarm.

DIsplay has 8 levels of light intensity. It certainly gets dim enough for night-time!

Dual alarm.

Can handle iDevices with cases on them (without removing the case).

You choose the alarm volume when you set up the alarm. So no worries about the sound not being on or loud enough.

Cons:

Sound is only "ok". You won't be using it as your main stereo speakers!

Having the 8 buttons on the top all being the same to the touch is unfortunate. If you're the groggy type when you wake up, and just need to smash down on the right button with little thought then maybe this device isn't for you. Also the snooze button is flush with the top -it should be more pronounced.

iLive IBR2807DP iPod Docking System/Boombox with Speakers, AM/FM Radio in White

iLive IBR2807DP iPod Docking System/Boombox with Speakers, AM/FM Radio in White
  • White iPod boombox with built-in iPod docking station
  • Plays and charges all iPods with 30-pin dock connectors
  • Integrated AM/FM tuner; blue backlit LCD display with digital clock
  • Auxiliary input jack for connecting MP3 players; A/V output jack
  • Measures 13.3 x 6.6 x 7.6 inches (W x H x D); 90-day warranty

This boombox has a nice design and quality appearance. My expectations were greatly exceeded given the item's size and price.

SOUND: There are no bass or treble adjustments but the bass is reasonable, if not powerful. The volume, however, can be set quite loud without distortion. I would describe the sound quality as equivalent to a good standard car stereo vs. a more expensive optional system; not the best but good -and a good value for the fifty bucks (on sale) I paid at Kohl's.

FEATURES-PROS & CONS: The boombox volume dial takes over the volume control from the click wheel on my 1st generation iPod Nano, but all the other iPod menus and functions work as usual. There is a play/pause button and forward and back buttons for skipping tracks.

The docking station charges iPods and comes with three adapters that slide in place to support both generations of iPod Nano and full-size iPods. There are output jacks on the back for S-Video and headphones and an auxiliary audio input jack. The power cord is normal (no power brick) and detaches from the rear of the boombox for portable use with batteries.

The AM/FM radio gets good reception. The analog tuning dial makes it easier to fine tune weak signals than pure digital tuners but the radio frequency is nicely displayed digitally rather than with an archaic tuner bar. When the iPod is turned on the radio display shows the time.

Two biggest drawbacks: the clock does not have an alarm, so you must use the iPod's alarm; the time/radio display backlight is far too bright for the bedside table and there is no way to adjust it. This boombox has been very pleasing even if I must put a piece of black tape over the display at night.

Pros: Excellent Ipod interface. Very good fidelity. Cannot adjust bass or treble, but it does not need adjustment for most uses. Good price. Nice design.

Cons: Has AM and FM, but they are of poor quality. FM antena comes out easily and cannot be rotated.

Overall: If you want it for the Ipod, definately get it. If you also want a good AM/FM radio, find another product.

I Had The Oportunity To Listen To This Compact,And Unique "Boom Box" Before I Actually Purchased One. It Was In A CD Music Store So I Had The Chance To Test The Volume Quality, And It Was Excellent. Lot's Of Sound At High Volume And Very Little Distortion . I Bought It And An VERY PLEASED With It. It's Sound Is EXCELLENT ! Well Rounded Sound With Clear High's And Moderate Bass. It's No Party Boom Box, But It Will Definately Fill A Room With Qualty Sound. The Radio Is OK,Reception Could Be Better, But I Got It For My IPOD And That Part Is Excellent!

This unit has a great sound for it's size and the size is what I like. It is very portable. I like to take it from room to room as I clean. I found it easy to use and has increased my I-Pod usage 100%.

I got this for my daughter she has a nano. Her earlier iPod player broke because the iPod stuck up from on top of it. The cat saw the picture change when the song changed and pounced, wrecking the input jack on the player (not the iPod, thankfully). This one has the iPod sitting inside so it's much less susceptible to accidents. It comes with lots of different adapters so you can easily fit your iPod to match the slot on the box. Also, the box is sleek looking she loves it (she's 11) and is easily able to operate it, etc.

The sound is fine I don't have any complaints in that area. I'm sure audiophiles will want something "better", but for the rest of us, this one is great.

Sony Walkman SRF-M37W - personal radio (SRFM37W) -

Sony Walkman SRF-M37W - personal radio -AM is decent, but FM selectivity and sensitivity is extremely poor, a lot of interference from near station and hissing.

I really do not recommend, choose something else, it will be better. Sony retire this product!!!

UPDATE 9/26/2011 In a nutshell don't buy this. Not even worth it even if it was free with free shipping. Now that the MP3 player is dead on top of the other issues this unit has had since installation my best advice to people is not to bother. Read my original review and see that I liked it at first, but over time and really not that much use, it's a dead piece of junk waiting to be removed.

Be sure to read my update at the bottom of the review because many of my first impressions changed after living with the stereo awhile:

I got my stereo to install in my 1968 Plymouth Fury VIP. My criteria was for it not to cost too much and to blend in as much as possible with my 1960's interior. The price from Onlinecarstereo.com was only 25 dollars plus shipping which seemed too good to be true. So far it has been money well spent.

Pros: Very simple MP3 player controls and the use of an USB thumb drive like a micro 8-track. Handles up to 2 gig drives which if full, I could drive all day and not repeat a track. Read my thumb drive without issues. Did not try the SD card feature as I prefer the USB thumb drives. I like the old fashioned manual tuning and it pulls in FM signals surprisingly well. I was picking up low power local stations my digital JVC in my Dodge was not getting. I have not tried the AM part because I rely on my original 1968 radio for that. The sound for the price is also surprisingly good though if you really want to blast the windows this is not the unit for that. You can add an amp to it with the RCA line outs but I don't really need it. I find that it plays as loud as I want it to because I'm old enough now I don't need it THAT loud anymore. I will add that the quality of your MP3 files will affect how loud you can go with the volume. The better the file, the better the sound at loud volume. I can hear it with the windows down just fine. It's also only a two channel stereo which is perfect for this car as I have only the two rear factory 6x9 cutouts and don't need or want four speakers.

Cons: Almost too simple MP3 player controls if you have your music organised into folders. You can manually click through one file at at time. If you hold down on the button in either direction it acts as a fast forward/rewind on an individual track. I did find that clicking through tracks backwards from the first song played got me into the only folder on my thumb drive. It's too much hassle to click that many times to get to something. I decided if I am in different music moods as I drive that it would probably be best to have individual thumb drives devoted to those musical moods and swap them around. I consider this acceptable given the extremely basic nature of the stereo.

Other cons: While I understand this is a cheap stereo could Pyle at least used thicker wires to attach speakers, power etc.? I was surprised at how difficult it was to get sound out of it and the problem was making sure there was true connections at the speakers. Ignore the online specs where it list "clock function". This model does not have a clock, the LCD version does. The "manual" could be better in addressing whether or not the unit could handle folders and whether it could skip back and forth between them though it was adequate in other respects. It would have allowed me to plan what I put on the thumb drives differently. But then it's a 25 dollar stereo so what do I expect? On the whole, it exceeded expectations and provides me with a way to have MP3s in my old car at a ridiculously inexpensive price.

After I ordered my radio, I saw the reviews here for the LCD screen version and I was glad I did not buy it. The old fashioned manual tune radio with no LCD seems to be a better product. If there was anything I'd change about it aside from beefing up the wiring, I'd add a couple of folder skip buttons to it.

Update July 2011: After living with this stereo for awhile, it didn't take long to see that it does absolutely nothing with folders. I thought I'd gotten into a folder but discovered I'd gotten into duplicate tracks outside the folder. At no point did the unit play anything inside the actual folder. I removed a star from the rating because the manual says nothing about this. I also observed that after playing for a couple of hours on a trip that the USB drive was surprisingly warm to the touch when I pulled it out. Don't know if this is normal or foreshadowing some kind of failure of the unit.

Also have noticed that some tracks have a background clicking sound. It's not quite loud enough to be truly irritating but it's enough to be noticed. Again, I cannot overstate the need for MP3 files to be the highest quality to keep it from sounding like crap. I've removed several tracks for this reason. Again, I only paid 25 bucks so my expectations were not high but still...

As other reviewers have mentioned, the tuner dial is merely a suggestion of the proximity of stations you might possibly be interested in. My initial positive review of its ability to pull in stations changed once I drove the car a few miles into a town where the one station I wanted to hear was impossible to tune where even my crappiest aftermarket and OEM radios in other cars had picked it up fine. I gave up on it. Agree with other reviewers that this unit is not as powerful as advertised. For me, this isn't a problem but I can see where it is for others.

For all of us who have classic cars, surely someone out there can make something that looks like a period radio, play MP3/WMA files and be a nice quality unit. I'd pay more for that. Custom Autosound was making stereos for classic cars with cassette decks etc, but I'd like to see a quality mechless two shaft stereo. Even with my low expectations, I'm finding that I'm now looking around for something to replace this with but since my unit is working more or less as designed which at this point is not a compliment, I'm taking my time finding a replacement.

Zero dash modifications is like saying one size fits all which is generally not the case and so goes my install.

The spread was off and some of the mounting holes needed adjustments but that said the tuner works great and the reception is good and clear. The sd 2 g holds tons of tunes and is one option older models didn't include. The look is right which was the main reason i bought it and it serves the purpose. A little headache to install but that's no reason to complain for the twenty i spent good to go!

I really wanted all the reviews to be wrong. But they're actually spot on.

Junk, junk, junk!

I figured my standards were low enough because all I listen to is one AM channel in my 86 Toyota, so I would be safe. Problem with that is, the stupid thing won't even go up to 1180 where it needs to be! Beyond that, it won't even hold a channel if I manage to get one. Big bummer. All I wanted is a period correct looking 2 post & dial radio.

Guess I better start trolling the salvage yards.

Sony Walkman S-544 Series 8 GB Video MP3 Player (Black)

Sony Walkman S-544 Series 8 GB Video MP3 Player
  • 8 GB capacity for about 2,000 songs
  • Up to 42 hours of audio or 6.5 hours of video on a single charge
  • 2.4-inch, 262,144-color LCD with 240 x 320 QVGA pixel resolution
  • Supports MP3, WMA (DRM), AAC, and Linear PCM audio formats; AVC, MPEG-4, and WMV (DRM) video formats; JPEG image files
  • One-year limited warranty

When searching for a new mp3 player the trail always leads me back to Sony. Its more about overall quality then brand loyalty. Over the years Sony's Walkman line has gone the distance and more. The all new Sony S Series Walkman adds to the legacy.

The S-540 8gb Walkman brings it on with a crisp, color enhanced 2.4" LCD screen that is easy on the eyes. At 2" x 4" x .4", it comes in a bit larger then its older cousin. A larger body undoubtedly is required to provide support for the external speaker system. The speakers won't get confused with my home system anytime soon but they do provide an excellent source. With headphones on, this mp3 player delivers a cornucopia of sound. Missing but not that noticeable is the noise reduction feature. The on board equalizer can be tweaked to one's own preferences or users can choose one of the six presets.

The Navigation pad located directly under the screen is a breeze to operate. Three controls are located on the right side of the unit. One locks in the controls. The second one allows for easy switching from speaker to headset. Volume is the third control. The standard headphone jack and a USB port can be found on the bottom of the unit. The detachable flip out stand is an okay feature that allows for easy standing on my desk or shelf top. I would have preferred that it was permanently mounted.

The S-540 supports mp3, mp4, AAC, AVC, WMV, WMA, and PCM. PCM is Sony's version of WAV. It pairs well with Napster. Rhapsody is a no go. Downloading my playlists from Windows Media Player was a breeze without the usual hiccups associated with older mp3 players. I did download a couple of photographs on this model. The display was outstanding. Unlike my older Walkman, this model doesn't offer the wallpaper photo display option.

The built in FM tuner picked up all ten of my stations. With auto scanner functionality, thirty preset slots are available. The FM radio is crystal clear when using the headset as an antenna. The alarm and timer features are a nice addition. This model also has an impressive on board microphone located on the bottom of the unit. There are three voice settings. Voice playback quality was excellent. Battery life has always been biggie with Sony. On a full charge, I got almost a full thirty five hours of music.

This Sony mp3 player comes packaged with a USB cable, flip stand, ear buds, installed operating manual, and the standard one year warranty. Body finishes for the 8GB model include; black, red, pink and violet. The 16GB unit comes in a black or red body.

Economically priced, this latest edition to the Walkman line is a durable and reliable product that simply delivers. Easy to use and loaded with features, the Sony S-540 is a prime time performer.

I like this device, but everyone should know what's in the EULA (End User License Agreement). Under the heading SOFTWARE DATA COLLECTION AND MONITORING is "The SOFTWARE contains features which may allow SONY and/or third parties to collect data from, control and/or monitor computers and devices running or interacting with the SOFTWARE. You hereby consent to such activities."

When installing the software the option to agree or disagree with the EULA appears. I disagreed and canceled the software installation. I can still use Windows Explorer to drag-and-drop files. I thought by not agreeing with the EULA (and thus not installing the software) I lost the ability to convert video files but the option appears each time I transfer such files. It must be inherent in the player. See below for more.

Other reviewers say that the screen scratches easily. The player doesn't come with a case cover and I didn't want to pay $20 for one so I bought a pack of Body Glove WriteRight Universal e-Reader Static Cling Screen Protector, 2 Pack (9202401) and cut one out to perfect screen size. I can get 4 total but the first one I put on is holding firm.

I do like this player for playing audio. The screen is easy to see even in daylight and the player is really easy to navigate. Audio sounds good and video and pictures look good, too, but if you're buying this primarily to watch videos be aware that it's like watching them on the screen of a typical digital camera. I bought this mainly for playing mp3 audio but thought it would be worth a few extra dollars for the ability to view pictures and video clips. After using this myself and watching other people squint to see my pics & vids I don't exactly regret buying this, it's still a great mp3 player, though the screen is better suited to menu functions & navigating than it is video viewing.

I suggest going with the 16GB version. I ripped my entire CD collection, about 200, to low-quality MP3 files and the player's memory is just about filled up. I'd also like to convert my albums and cassettes to MP3 format, but I will need another player. I shoulda gotten 16GB.

As I said above even if you don't agree with the EULA and don't install the Sony software you can still drag and drop files. When I connect the player to my Windows 7 computer, Windows Explorer automatically appears. What's really great is when transferring video files to the Walkman, the option to convert them pops up; click on Convert and Copy and within a few seconds it's done. AVI files convert to WMV. Even files that are already WMV for some reason need to be converted; if I choose not to convert them they don't show up on the player.

Update on the battery: after a full recharge I can listen to music for many hours though not near the 42-hour claim. Still, I am impressed with the battery life (so far).

Made in China.

This unit has great, traditional Sony sound quality. And I write this not even using the headphones yet, but simply from the built-in speakers. Perhaps I am aging, but I do like to listen to music (and definitely radio) without headphones. This player has a good sound that is very clear and detailed with not much in the low frequency, but real clarity in the mid to high frequencies. Don't expect theater sound with these little guys, but it is respectable my neighbor even heard it while outside and said it sounds good, and I was surprised he could hear it!

So far great battery life, very easy to use (esp. w/ media monkey), and a nice looking player. The directional pad could be a bit bigger, but that is a minor suggestion to a great sounding player at this price. Highly recommended.

Want Sony Walkman S-544 Series 8 GB Video MP3 Player (Black) Discount?

I remember a few years back Sony still didn't make a compatible subcription music player. It was a shame since the players had up to 50 hours battery life, not to mention the sound quality was the best.

Now I find this beauty at best buy and I snatch it in the spot. As an added bonus, the player sports speakers. Are you freaking kidding me? This is great. Though I got to admit they are kind of weak of course, but still strong enough to play in the shower.

The sound is great, and 8 gigs are packing lots of music. I just been testing the video player and I have no complaints, though I've been having some trouble with compatibility. It is supposed to play mp4 video but mine doesn't. What I had to do was convert the video to wmv and then use the included software so that it automatically converts to a compatible format. It won't play H.264 either.

That is easy to fix though. If you're ripping a dvd or converting a video, just make sure you do it to a wmv file, then use the "Content Transfer" sofware and you're good to go. The video looks pretty good in the player I must admit. Vibrant colors, flawless playing.

I noticed the battery charges really fast. I mean really fast and lasts a whole day of music playing and then some the next day.

I'm satisfied that Sony finally came to terms with Microsoft's DRM copyright protection.

IMPORTANT: Some here said that you can't fast forward in audiobooks or music, and that it does it very slow. That's not true, if you want to fast forward really fast, you have to pause the song/audiobook and it will fast forward. If you do it while in "play" it will forward slowly so you can listen to where you're at.

My wife is a reluctant geek. For years I couldn't convince her, a beautiful, intelligent woman in her late 50s, to use an mp3 player to listen to her audio books while she roamed the house. Wireless headphones of various types never worked satisfactorily. For a while she literally dragged around a 60 foot extension cable connected between her headphones and the computer ON THE THIRD FLOOR where the audio books were stored. It was an ugly scene, a long black cable snaked from our third floor down two flights of SPIRAL stairs through our living room, dining room and kitchen. For months my grand daughter and I were forced to 'double-dutch' over this cable just to get around our home. As I said, it was ugly and potentially dangerous.

Then my wife relented and she tried this player. First, she can see the display, an important consideration for folks our age. Second, setup is easy. Third, she can manage file transfers easily WITHOUT my technical assistance thus preventing our usual clashes over her tech problems that sometimes escalate to near homicidal levels. If you're married to a non-geek you know what I mean.

The player comes with ear buds but the wife doesn't like them so we bought some inexpensive extremely small batteried portable speakers that plug into the player. Ta da! Now my wife happily wanders our house, the player and the small speakers tucked into the pockets of her hoodie, encased in a small sound bubble of her current audio book.

Geneva Sound MODEL XS / WHITE Compact Stereo Sound System

Geneva Sound MODEL XS / WHITE Compact Stereo Sound System
  • Bluetooth A2DP for wireless music streaming from any Bluetooth-enabled device, such as iPad, iPhone, and other smartphones and tablets.
  • Digital FM Radio
  • Alarm clock
  • Rechargeable battery - over 5 hours playtime on single charge
  • Water-resistant leather case

I have to say, I love this device. I have a lot of friends in the music industry and they rave about Geneva. I don't know much about all the technical stuff, but I know what I like and what sounds good to me.

I purchased the XS white sound system a few months back, and use it on a fairly regular basis. Physically, the size is perfect. You can toss it in a briefcase, stick in in a jacket pocket, or easily carry it in one had. Lately, I've taken it to the beach with me on warm weekends. When you open it, you just flip the interior speaker up, and hook the catches in the top. That's all the setup you need. It turns on with the touch of one finger, and the controls light up along the top. When it's turned off, the controls disappear for a smooth, clean look. You can switch between radio, bluetooth, or an ipod with one button. Just press the Mode button and the front will display the mode. It has a telescoping antenna for FM radio that gives you great reception. If you want to run an iPod or any other mp3 player, just use the included line in/out cord. Just plug one end into the XS and one end into the headphone jack on your ipod. And that's all it takes. If you have an iphone, or anything with bluetooth capacity, you can just turn on the bluetooth and sync everything wirelessly. If you travel, this device makes a great alarm clock. You can set it to beep, or play music through the radio or your ipod.

This little guy has a rechargeable battery. SImply plug the wall adapter into the unit and and walk away. I've found I can usually get about a week's play out of one charge. That's playing it an hour here, twenty minutes there, and so on.

The sound gets its own paragraph. This little unit really fills a room. Obviously, you won't use it to dj a party or to fill a ball room. But for a normal size living room or kitchen, you can turn it on and really enjoy the music. The sound is crisp, and you hear all the notes and vocals perfectly. The volume runs from 1-100, with 100 being the loudest. I usually keep mine set around 35 and it's perfect to sing along to. But if you want to really crank it, go ahead!

Now for the cons When installing the battery, I had to stop and read the directions twice. It's not the most intuitive process. But once you do that, it's pretty easy to figure out. When using it, you have to make sure the hinges are in the case, or it may not play correctly. But all you have to do is be sure you set it up correctly when opening it. The only thing I would change about this device would be storage for the line in/out cable on the device its-self. You have to detach and store the cable separately when closing the unit. But you can toss the cable into the handy carrying pouch Geneva includes with each unit.

Overall, I give it 4 stars. Very easy to use, straight out of the box. Everything can be done with literally a push of a button. And you'll get compliments on the design, and on the sound. It truly is amazing how much sound

Yes, it is amazing for people who enjoy listening to the 8:00AM daily radio news, it has unbelievable rich speaking sound, built-in radio, handy, elegant and yes it is loud ......

but did I buy it for said reasons ..NOooo...i was looking for that crisp sweet detailed jazzy music sound at low volume level, unfortunately it has flat beat sound, no bass at allll, I even try to change the sound effect from my SGS2 but still didn't reach the level, it sound like mono speakers,

also I bought the white color to be matching with my dock station, it should be white right?.... another NO, it is lite creamy color and it work as a dirt magnet.

Don't buy it if you are think this speaker will deliver a high stereo music sound even with low volume level, the only competitors for this speaker is my poorly monitor mono built-in speakers... I guess this is one of the cases which u don't get what u pay for.

HMDX Audio HX-A142 Wave Home Audio Dock

HMDX Audio HX-A142 Wave Home Audio Dock
  • Charges and plays iPad, iPhone, and iPod
  • Motorized drawer exposes dock and buttons
  • Superior sound quality with passive subwoofers for expanded bass profile
  • Video-out capability for watching your videos or movies on a TV
  • Auto-set clock with dual gradual wake alarms

I like the product, the only problem I have with it is the remote control which doesn't work. I've tried contacting the company to notify them of the remote and how to replace it. The sound is really great, the alarms are always prompt and loud enough to wake me up. The docking cradle is ok but has a way of tilting the iPod, iPod Touch and iPad forward rather than allow it to lean back.

I knew as soon as I opened the box and took this product out that I had made a bad purchase. It was very flimsy and seemed to be cheaply constructed. The docking station wouldn't open with the remote or the open button at the top of the speaker, but just made a humming sound like it was trying to open. I finally got it open after prying at it with my finger nail...NOT GOOD. The speaker sound was mediocre at best, and the alarm didn't work. The line-out jack didn't work either. I only paid about $30 for it and it wasn't even worth that. Needless to say, I took it back and thankfully got a refund.

I've been looking at this dock for 6 months and never made a purchase until today. I didn't get it at Amazon, but at Bed Bath & Beyond for under $30. It charges your ipad/ipod. Nice noticeable bass (not booming or distorted), volume and alarm are loud enough to wake the dead, and voices are recognizable. The remote controls just about everything. It has a line out to connect to another audio source, and a video output to connect to a TV. I would have given this 5 stars, but the dock makes my ipad shift (move forward). With a little adjustment, the ipad will stay in the correct position.

The quality of this product leaves a lot to be desired. My iPad never sat firmly in the flimsy dock and didn't work. The sound is pretty poor and doesn't get that loud. I recommend looking at other products.

  • AM/FM clock radio with dual alarm and 0/6 red LED display
  • 20 track programable
  • Wake to CD, radio, or alarm
  • Stereo full range speakers
  • battery back up for power failures - 9V battery

This item worked real well and then all of a sudden the buttons would not work. I could not change the time, set the alarm, or even turn on the CD player or radio. The alarm still worked, but I had to set it to get up at the time previously set because it would not change. It was not just one button it was all of them. Nothing worked. It was like they had a timer and shut down all of a sudden. It happened only a week after the 90 day warrranty period was over.

Well, I just bought this today as a CD clock radio for a new nursery. I tested it out and it worked as advertised (it even played a CD-R I had recorded). Directions were clear and the functionality seems pretty good. You can program up to 20 tracks and even set the alarm to play this program.

I'm guessing that the quality is pretty poor from some reviews I've read. So, I hope I get lucky and this thing lasts for a few years.

  • 512MB internal memory to store your favorite music/photo/video
  • Digital/Analogue Clock with dual alarm function
  • Sleep or wake functions to your favorite FM radio or your music, Auto Search radio stations
  • Full range bass flex speakers

I bought this a few days ago from Office Max on sale for $59.99 (normally $79.99).

Now, I am taking it back.

The idea is a great one, and the unit looks pretty decent at first.

Unfortunately, looks are deceiving on this one.

1. Speakers occasionally sound like something is touching the cone.

2. You can NOT listen to the radio and see pictures at the same time.

3. The controls are awful! There is a tiny 'exit' button, and a tiny 'ok' button which is surrounded by a circle button with directional arrows.

4. It is NOT a touch screen. That's fine, but the directional arrow button frequently goes a different direction than I intended. Since the menus are all navigated by this circle button, it is very frustrating to use.

5. Radio gets great reception, but controls are clunky. There are five 'buttons' pictured on the screen: Normal, Stations, Record, Favorite, and Scan. Does it record from the radio?? No, you 'record' your favorite stations. You first push 'exit' to get the top button to 'light up' (changes color and flashes the word), then push the down arrow and hope it stops on the 2nd button. If you push 'ok', you can then use the up/down arrows to change stations even though the radio image has a normal radio bar pictured which goes left to right. (left and right is for the volume so you don't turn the volume 'up' or 'down', you turn it left and right!!)

3rd button is record, 4th is Favorite use this after you 'record' your favorite stations, and 5th is Scan. Quickly scans the entire dial to find out where all the stations are.

Good luck with the Photo/Music/Video functions. It takes a while for it to discover all the files/folders on your memory card. Then there is no way to navigate through the pictures or music files.

To sum it up, I am looking forward to the Sony or Panasonic version of this device. For now, I'd rather have NOTHING than have this.

Bought this a few days ago at Bi-Mart on sale for $29.99 and even though the buttons are a little clunky they do the job if you're patient. This thing even plays xvid videos on a SDHC chip. Way Cooooool. It has a phone jack on it too so you can watch a video and not disturb anyone. The nature alarm sounds especially the chicken are great. Both of the clock displays are excellent IMHO. And the radio is nice and clear, better than you would have expected. Lots of nicely set up menus. The ONLY drawback I see is the buttons are a little clunky but for all the features and the low price, they are NO problem at all. This is a 16x9 display and works well for videos, pictures, and the clocks. It isn't the highest resolution of course but for the price its fine and very good with deep rich colors. Did I say it plays XVID/DIVX videos? Worth it for THAT alone..... Runs on 5 Volts at 2 amps.

This product didn't work right from the beginning, but we didn't discover this until after the return period expired since it was a gift. So, we sent it for warrantee service. What a waste of time and more money (for shipping)! It was returned completely inoperable with a speaker cover off (it was only glued on to begin with).

GPX HM3817DT Home Music SystemPerfect office radio/cd player. Ipods/mp3 players can be plugged in to the LINE IN or AUX inputs with the included line in cable. Very versatile, affordable player with everything you need.

My husband bought this system brand new for me in 2009, the unit was manufactured July 02, 2008. I just threw it away tonight because it suddenly went haywire. I have used this unit many times in the last 3 years and never had any problems with it. I have moved it around my house several times and it has always performed perfectly. I moved it to a different room in my house last week and now suddenly it has started to malfunction. The remote control has stopped working even after a battery change, the volume adjusts to the highest level of 32 as soon as I turn the unit on and will not come down with the remote or manually, it plays 15 seconds of a song then shuts itself off. I have reset it, unplugged it, moved it back to the room I moved it out of, taken it apart, checked the wiring, nothing is burnt, scorched, loose, out of place. It is a mystery to me and the only other thing I figure can be wrong is it is simply a malfunction of the control boards inside. Oh well, it was great while it lasted but I will not be buying another one. I'll spend the extra money on a better quality and well known product this time.

This is the worst product I have ever bought. I wanted something simple...it wasn't; I wanted to listen to the radio; I couldn't. I didn't even try the dvd player. Every radio station I tried could not be found. It would play the same station even hand tuning to another station. This is junk.

Tecsun PL-660SLV Portable AM/FM/LW/Air Shortwave World Band Radio with Single Side Band, Silver

Tecsun PL-660SLV Portable AM/FM/LW/Air Shortwave World Band Radio with Single Side Band, Silver
  • Comprehensive coverage including AM/FM, Longwave, Aviation & Shortwave with Single Side Band.
  • AM Synchronous Detection & Dual Conversion
  • PLL receiver with enhanced sensitivity & selectivity
  • Dual alarm clock with sleep timer up to 2 hours
  • 4-way tuning with 2,000 memories

I knew this radio had the features I wanted (ssb, sync, 2000 memories). However, I was surprised at how intuitive the controls were. Automatic switching between slow and fast tuning is right on. The switch to change from manual and memory tuning is located right next to the tuning dial. The same control doubles as "scan". During scan, you can easily save the stations you like to memory. Also, if you want to save all the strong signals on a shortwave band, or all shortwave bands, that is also a single button push.

The light is bright and stays on long enough (user configurable).

The display is 3" x 1.5". It's clear and well lit with a yellow back light.

The sound through the speaker is not high fidelity. I often use external speakers. There is a 2-position tone selector. The "Bass" position creates a more pleasant sound for my taste.

I love the fact that the batteries recharge in the radio. The supplied power adapter works well (low noise and quick charge).

The radio receives well with the whip antenna. The supplied external antenna works even better and has a dedicated input on the side of the radio. There is a 3 position antenna sensitivity selector.

The supplied carrying case is well made and offers decent protection.

The sound is very good on AM and Shortwave (HF). However, I found the sound on the FM band to be barely adequate.

Recently, I bought a $9.99 replacement for the built-in whip antenna here at Amazon. It was easy to install and provides a bit more gain than the original. Lots of fun.

I'm quite sure you won't see these features at this price tag.

UPDATE: After 9 months, the radio still works great. Nice work Tecsun!

Buy Tecsun PL-660SLV Portable AM/FM/LW/Air Shortwave World Band Radio with Single Side Band, Silver Now

I've had this radio for about a month now and like it very much. I have an older Radio Shack SW Radio model DX 390 which is a good receiver. The PL-660 is far superior and has an aircraft band that the other doesnt. I find the Tecsun to be a high quality radio. Another reviewer says the knobs are poor quality, but i have to disagree finding them pretty sound. The manual says the radio will operate for 40 hours on a full charge. I have found that it only runs about 10 hours on the original batteries. I replaced the batteries with 2500 mAh ones and now it runs well over 40 hours on a charge. The radio works very well with the receivers antenna and i find that the plug in antenna does not pull in distant stations much better. The quality of sound from the AM stations is good.

ORDERED PL 660 SEVERAL MONTHS AGO BUT SENT IT BACK BECAUSE TUNING KNOB WAS DEFECTIVE. DECIDED TO TRY THE PL 660 AGAIN, THIS TIME GOT ONE THAT WORKED. ALSO HAVE SONY 7600GR, ETON E1, SANGEAN 909 (WITH RADIOLABS MOD.)AND GRUNDIG G5. I HAVE BEEN USING PL 660 EXCLUSIVELY SINCE I GOT IT. PULLS IN AM AND SW WITH WHIP WITH NO TROUBLE AT ALL. HOOK UP EXTERNAL ANTENNA AN REALLY PULLS IN AM AND SW. I WOULD SAY BETTER THAN 7600GR, ETON E1 ( ONE OF THE EARLY MODELS), WAY BETTER THAN G5. SANGEAN 909 SEEMS TO PULL IN A FEW MORE AM STATIONS, SW SEEMS TO BE A TOSS UP. PL 660 NICE AND EASY TO USE AT BEDSIDE, PUSH BUTTONS AN SWITCHES COULD BE BIGGER AND EASIER TO USE. PL 660 MEMORY EASY TO USE, YOU DON'T HAVE TO FUMBLE IN THE DARK TO SELECT AM PAGES OR SW PAGES (WHICH YOU HAVE TO DO WITH THE SONY, GRUNDIG, AND SANGEAN). SPEAKER IS A LITTLE TINNY. SYNC WORKS. BUTTONS TO SMALL. I GIVE IT 5 STARS FOR THE $99 PRICE.

Unlike some negative comments I've read on the web, I rate this radio very high in performance and form factor. I especially like the sync detector function which functions flawlessly unlike that on my Grundig G3. I highly recommend this rcvr to all SW enthusiasts.

The sensitivity of this radio is quite good. I live in a rural area where not many stations come in clearly. I cannot comment on the selectivity. The feel and quality of the radio seems good. I did not use the rechargeable batteries, so I have no opinion. This radio is designed for the SW fan. The functions are numerous, including the 2000 some presets. This seems a SW fans dream, but not mine. Sound is tinny at best. I did not expect full lush sound from such a small speaker, but it does not compare with my Tivoli Model 1 or Squeezebox radio both of which have similar size speakers and sound superb. I mainly wanted AM/FM so this was not the radio for me. Shortwave fans should give it a try. AM/FM fans should try elsewhaere.

Tivoli Model Satellite Table Radio (Sirius Satellite Radio / AM / FM )

Tivoli Model Satellite Table Radio
  • Legendary Tivoli quality meets the power of Sirius satellite radio
  • World's first satellite table radio designed exclusively for home use with the Sirius service
  • Large, backlit LCD displays artist info, song title, category, and time
  • Analog FM tuner uses same advanced technology as other Tivoli radios
  • Inputs for Tivoli stereo speaker, Model CD Player and Model Subwoofer

I love Sirius in my car for its niche channels like jazz, Folk Town and Bluegrass so I bought the Tivoli table model. On the positive side the sound is GREAT -right up there with Bose, but the design leaves some things to be desired. 1. It won't work without external antennas for AM, FM or Sirius. 2. It does not have an internal power supply. 3. To get stereo or CD you have to buy additional boxes. 4. You really do have to have a clear view of the sky where the satelite is located. Trees and buildings block the signal. 5. You might as well order the third party signal booster and antenna extension because it only comes with a 30 foot cable to the antenna which will probably not get it to your roof. 6. There is not an easy way to feed additional stereo equipment to take advantage of a home sound system. 7. There is no way to cut off the big blue info screen which is really BIG and Blue. When installed this thing has as many wires and connections as a lobbyist in Washington. But if you can put up with the clunky design it is wonderful.

Buy Tivoli Model Satellite Table Radio (Sirius Satellite Radio / AM / FM ) Now

I have no doubt that one reason for the slow adoption of Satellite Radio by consumers is the lousy hardware. I mean, what are they thinking? The collection of products for both Sirius and XM looks like the over-designed, comic book props in Star Wars movies. They're totally dysfunctional. Nothing as elegant as an iPod, with the possible exception of Pioneer's portable radios for XM. Even the car radio's are clunky.

The Tivoli Model Satellite is the one exception to the ugly, under-performing Satellite Radio rule. The sound is about as good as it gets. Indeed, almost too good since it really points up the excessive compression used by both satellite and commercial FM broadcasters. You won't notice this difference until you play an uncompressed CD or MP3 file from your iPod through the AUX port on the Tivoli. Wow! What an amazing sound out of such small speakers. And I don't even have the subwoofer speaker accessory.

The Sirius section works great. It's easy to program. It's got a great "Memo" feature to capture the name and artist of 20 songs you'd like to look up later.

I did invest in a serious outdoor Sirius Antenna prior to the arrival of the Tivoli, so it was just a matter of plugging it in. The FM and AM sections worked fine without any external antennas. It's impressive that they include a serious external AM antenna something I haven't seen packaged with table radios since the 1970s, and then only expensive "audiophile" models.

As noted by others, the Satellite and AM/FM functions aren't at all integrated. This is basically the Tivoli Model 1 with a Satellite function tacked on as an afterthought.

The huge, bright, multi-line display is awesome at providing all of the information you want at a glance, with a minimal amount of annoying left-to-right scrolling. While the display does automatically adjust to ambient light (a feature that can be turned off and on) it may be too bright for the bedside table for some people.

The Tivoli Model Satellite is to radio what a beautiful 52" flat panel plasma display is to HDTV. It's the best audio you can get for satellite, possibly short of a console deck connected to studio monitors. But, again, given the various compression artifacts on Satellite radio (and the compression is often horrible on talk-only channels) this may be about as good as you dare get.

Unless you have space limitations, it's kind of a waste to spend so much money on a radio only to have mono sound, so plan on buying the (right channel) speaker for stereo.

I have no problem that they didn't include a CD player. An integrated mechanical device would only shorten the useful life of the unit. As just a radio it should last 10-20 years if you're trying to justify the high price tag.

Will Sirius be around in 10-20 years? I don't know. We also hear talk of HD radio coming to AM/FM (but then we've heard about HDTV for 20 years too and it's still not here).

At this price point, it would have been nice if there's been a time-shift feature, sort of a digital VCR (DVR) feature to record shows you want to hear later.

The remote is pretty awful for such an expensive radio, it's just a cheap "membrane" type remote. Inexplicably I got a real remote with my Kenwood Sirius car radio (what good a remote does in the car is beyond me).

Let's hope with the merger of the two satellite services they make more of an effort to create better looking, more functional hardware AND clean up their sound quality. I'd rather they have half as many channels with better sound and produce better programs that are re-run several times a day.

I was initially quite skeptical about satellite radio. Then, I saw the Tivoli in an advertisement and decided to take a chance. I was very pleasantly surprised with the radio and the Sirius satellite service. I've brought the radio to my office and can enjoy commercial free music throughout the work day. The sound from this small, mono radio is remarkably clear and powerful. This includes both high and low range sounds. The remote control is compact and easy to use; actually, I prefer the remote, since the buttons on the radio are small. You can store 20 of your favorite satellite stations for easy access. Even FM stations sound great, but I rarely listen since the satellite stations are much better. The Sirius lineup is excellent, and it truly is commercial free music. (News and Talk stations have brief commercial breaks.) Overall, I definitely recommend the Tivoli satellite radio (and Sirius satellite radio).

Want Tivoli Model Satellite Table Radio (Sirius Satellite Radio / AM / FM ) Discount?

This is a gorgeous little radio but... there is no way to adjust the tone. I feel the sound is WAY too bass-y. The power source is cumbersome and impossible to hide out of site. I just hate all of those ugly wires. The control buttons are hard to read unless you have good light and put your nose right up to it. There is really no satellite equipment that is asthetically pleasing right now so I guess this is the best one out there if this is important to you.

My Nightstand was a mess!Until I bought this! I originally had a sirius reciever, a huge radio from cambridge soundworks all on one tiny nightstand. It was so cluttered. That I knew it was time to get some kind of an "All in One" device.

I laid eyes on this Tivoli, and I was hooked. I just got it Today, and It sounds incredible. I know there is an extra speaker/subwoofer available for this unit, but the built in speaker is enough to fill my entire bedroom w/ great sound.

The built in FM Tuner has INCREDIBLE reception, haven't tested the AM yet, but I'm sure that it'll will be just as good. I also have my iPod hooked up through the Auxillary input on the back.

And It takes up Hardly any space on my nightstand!

Overall, I'd highly recommend this system for anyone that want's all of there music sources in one compact device, that produces incredible sound.

Only gripe I have w/ the Radio is that the Remote doesn't have a volume control on it (but it does have a mute button).

Go with this Radio, and you won't be disappointed! Now we just need Sirius to come out w/ a fully portable walkman type unit and we'll be all set!

Coby Digital Dual Alarm/Clock Radio with iPod Docking System (Black)

Coby Digital Dual Alarm/Clock Radio with iPod Docking System
  • Universal dock for iPod charges and plays your favorite iPod music
  • Digital AM/FM radio
  • Digital clock with 2 independent alarms and snooze/sleep timers, Wake up to your iPod, radio, or buzzer
  • High-output, full-range stereo speakers
  • 3.5mm audio line-in jack for use with any portable audio device (e.g., iPod shuffle)

There are some things I really like about this clock, and some things that really annoy me.

First the annoying things:

1) The *#&% scroll wheels. MESSAGE TO ALL MANUFACTURERS: Just because Apple has a scroll wheel doesn't mean you have to as well. They are not the be all and end all of UI devices. They work for the iPod because you hold it in your hand and you can navigate with your thumb. For an alarm clock this is not the case and (at least for me) they tend to be clunky and difficult to use. I would have gotten a clock without them, but I couldn't find one in my price range that also had good reviews.

2) The Backlight. I actually saw this issue in another review and bought the clock anyway. The problem is that the backlight is either on or it's off. Though there are ostensibly three dimmer modes, they do absolutely nothing that I can tell. When it's on, it's brighter than your desk lamp, and when it's off you can't see the screen in the dark. I keep it off, but then if I want to know what time it is in the middle of the night, I have to reach over to the clock and hit the dimmer switch.

3)The alarm volume is the same as the music volume. This is annoying if I want to listen to music as I go to sleep because when I'm trying to sleep I want the music quiet, but unless I somehow turn up the volume in my sleep, the alarm will be just as quiet in the morning. Pretty poor design, there.

Things I like:

1) There's a power button. I was really stoked when I saw this because my old iPod clock had absolutely no way to turn off the iPod/Radio/Aux Jack short of hitting the sleep button until the sleep timer hit zero.

2) With the volume up the alarm is loud. Really loud. I don't know if my neighbors appreciate that as much as I do, but at least it wakes me up in the morning. Most of the time.

3) There's a nap function. Enough said.

4) It does what it's supposed to and does it reasonably well. The sound is good, and I can hear it from across my apartment if I want to listen to podcasts while I do housework.

Overall, I'm happy with this iPod dock alarm clock. It works with a minimum of fuss, and for it's price it's a pretty good piece of equipment.

I saw another review of this clock that indicated the backlighting (neon blue) was too bright. I figured this was a small complaint I could live with -but I was wrong. Even with the dimmer option engaged the blue light is almost bright enough to use for reading -think 1970's disco light without the flashing. If you keep the clock away from the bed it is probably not such a problem. While interesting to see my wife in such light, it is not so good for sleeping. Otherwise the clock performs relatively well but this single aspect is enough for me to send it back.

I ordered this for my spacious office, everyone would love a bose, but I just didn't need all of THAT! I just wanted something I could listen to the radio on & also my ipod which is a 3rd Generation Nano which fit nicely. I am loving it. Its shiny and looks sytlish. The light does not bother me, since its my office it has 3 settings bright blue, blue & off. The sound quality is great with both ipod & radio. It has a great pointed sound at my desk that doesn't overflow into other areas, but if you TURN IT UP you can get a great radius & not lose sound quality. It also comes with a line out just in case your ipod didn't fit, but the slot looks large enough to handle other versions. I am satisfied.

I did not find the dials objectionable & was able to figure out the clock/ipod/radio functions without reading the manual. Set up took all of 2 minutes, mostly trying to find a plug ;]

I read in another review that it would be helpful to have a remote. I do not need one as I can reach it from where I sit to write this review but the description says it comes with one. It does not.

I have been searching for a good ipod alarm clock system for my dorm room and was slightly apprehensive of this product given the low price as compared to so many others. But it just arrived today and its amazing. The sound quality is above average, which is excellent considering its under 40 bucks! It has two alarms which are very useful, and has a great radio reception. The backlight can be dimmed down so it is nice. The only con is a remote would have made this perfect

Display light is too bright even with dimmer use and difficult to read. Ipod dock works fine and sound is good.
