Emerson RP6251 Portable Weather Clock Radio

Emerson RP6251 Portable Weather Clock Radio
  • Portable AM/FM radio with instant weather and digital clock
  • NOAA weather reports for area specified
  • Slide-rule radio tuning dial
  • LCD clock display
  • Operates on 120V AC or 4 AA batteries; built-in AC power cord with cord storage compartment

I got this radio about a month or two ago I got this radio at a local store because I wanted something for my shop. At 2 AM Monday morning, our power went out as a tornado was bearing down on us in a small East Texas town. I have a surplus of batteries for just such an occasion, so I began plugging them into the unit and it instantly came to life. I could listen to WBAP clearly and got instant up to the minute weather information. The NOAA weather radio option is easy to use. I dialed it in using the knob on the back and had instant tornado data. After the threat was over and the tornado died, we turned it over to a country station and listened to music until we fell asleep. This is one of the best radios I have ever owned. It's small, portable and lightweight. I love it and I am so glad that I purchased it. It's a great emergency radio and should be a part of any emergency kit. It's low cost and runs for a long time on 4 batteries. I will keep mine around.

Do NOT waste your money! The very first thing I did was pull the end right off the antenna when I extended it. The workmanship is a joke: cheap even for Chinese standards... The knobs pull off like mad, the handle broke within a week. And does it get reception? If you're lucky you'll get two stations. The Weather station was all pure, ultra-loud static, and when accidently turned on guaranteed to send you and your cat to the ceiling.

He radio works ok. But he tuning dial is not aligned with the stations your trying to listen to. Also the weather button is in a bad place and the ability to turn the weather stations is not easy and it not good for any distance. I don't recommend this radio.

If you're looking for a good paperweight, this is the product for you! However, if you want to listen to a radio station and do not live RIGHT NEXT DOOR to the radio station, you are out of luck with this piece of garbage. The reception is absolutely terrible. And the weather feature is nice, if you're looking to scare the bejesus out of everyone within 100 feet of you. The super-loud instant static you get when you press the weather button could wake the dead!

RCA RC105 .9 DUAL WAKE CLOCK RADIO

RCA RC105 .9 DUAL WAKE CLOCK RADIOI bought this radio just recently, although not from Amazon, and for a lot less. I needed a dual alarm clock. The radio works okay but you don't get a lot of stations. I'm basically satisfied. I just wanted an alarm clock. The LED display is not overly bright which I like. My only disappointment is that it says you can wake up to music or an alarm. I'd prefer to wake up to an alarm, but the only way you could possibly hear the alarm on this clock/radio is if it came with earphones, and then you still might not be able to hear it. I would have given it four stars had it not been for this flaw. I'd recommend it if you're not looking for a good radio with your alarm clock and/or the capability of waking up to an alarm rather than the radio.

The EMINENCE LEGEND 1218 is one of the most Under-rated speakers around. Usually, when someone thinks of Eminence they think of the Swamp Thang, or Texas Heat. However, if you go to they support a great feature that allows you to do direct comparison by playing sound clips for each of their speakers. It definitely took me some time to sort all the speakers but if you're looking for a thick, phat bottom & mid tone that still has clear high's (not too bright, but definitely not muddy) then the LEGEND 1218 is for you.

OK, here's the deal I wanted an all tube combo amp that wouldn't break the bank and all the reviews I read pointed me to the Crate V-50 112. However, the ONE issue about the amp that constantly came up in the user reviews is how the amp tone GREATLY IMPROVES by simply changing the speaker. Don't get me wrong the Crate V-50 right out of the box sounded nice but when I installed the LEGEND 1218 ($87.00) the sound went from nice to WOW!!! It was as if the all features of this great amp were being held back by the stock 50w speaker. Think about it, an all tube 50 watt amp with a 50 watt max output speaker?? Make sense to you?? Hell NO. There's no head room. The Eminence Legend 1218 is a 8 Ohm, 150 watt output speaker. This gives the amp 100 watts of room to flex its muscle. No Restrictions...

Now the Bass is more than enough, the Reverb shines and the phat tube sound overall is comparable to those very pricey hand wired boutique amps. Do yourself a favor go to and check out the LEGEND 1218. I hope I helped steer you in the right direction. As always, THANKS for reading my reviews and be well. The WebbMan.

While this speaker has good versatility for different styles, it's specialty is a big warm clean tone with great note separation. It has deep bass, warm smooth mids, and very responsive to your EQ in treble region. You can dial in strong highs that aren't nasty or dial back for smooth jazz tone. The cone is pretty controlled which makes this a fine speaker for jazz. If you're playing chord melodies or jazz leads and need to hear each note, you're in for a treat. Very full, rich sound. It has plenty of mids, just not the growling type like a Vintage 30. If you're buying this for that cutting hi-mid crunch, it won't have enough juice for you. However, if distorted rock is more the exception than rule in your playing, then it will do a respectable job with pedals just don't expect the speaker to "break up" for you. Clean playing is more the rule these days for me, so this speaker is special. The real test is hitting a low E note while playing some chord work over the top. It sounds like two different speakers with the clarity and note separation amazing!

Installed this in my custom build cabinet. Clean and dirty tube amps sound great! The tone is warm and the mids come through.

Honeywell TE852W Long Range Weather Forecaster with Wind Speed and Atomic Clock

Honeywell TE852W Long Range Weather Forecaster with Wind Speed and Atomic ClockDifficult to program. Remote temperature/humidity sensor had to be within 30 feet of base otherwise had to constantly re-set to "find" signal. Wind speed virtually useless as it reads an average over a ten minute time frame. Gusts reading seemed off by 15 to 40%, as well.

One needs altitude and latitude and longitude in order to get accurate info from some of the features.

Weather prediction surprisingly accurate.

I received this as a gift. The base will not even read the remote transmitters through a window! It is absolutely USELESS for outdoor weather monitoring. Again, it does not read the remote sensors unless they are right next to it. I wish the person who gave me this could get his money back because this should not even be on the market! Honeywell should be out of business for selling such complete GARBAGE!

RCA PCHSTAB1R 30-Pin Charging Dock with Device Cradle

RCA PCHSTAB1R 30-Pin Charging Dock with Device Cradle
  • 30-pin charging dock and 2.1 A USB charging
  • Compatible with iPod, iPhone and iPad
  • Fast, full-speed charging for smartphones or tablets
  • One convenient AC outlet for other electronics, such as lamps or clocks
  • Outlet optimized for iPad (2.1 amps)

PROS:

Combines an iPod/iPhone (30-pin) charging dock with a USB charge port and AC outlet

Wide, stable base

AC extension outlet and USB charge port work perfectly

CONS:

iPhone not always reliably secured/charging in dock

Very large footprint

The dock obscures most of the home button, making it inaccessible when it is in the dock

No LED charge indicator

The RCA PCHSTAB1R 30-Pin Charging Dock is definitely a great concept item. It combines a charging base for your iPhone4S/iPod 4th generation (or below) and also has a handy AC extension outlet and a USB charge port to boot. In this world of expanding technology, a device like this is ideal for me: I can charge my work iPhone4, charge my personal flip phone, and plug in an extension set for my home telephone all on my night table and using only a single device. This sure beats having three cords dangling by my bedside and the need for jury rigging the dual outlet so I can plug in three devices. In concept it's good. Sadly, the iPhone does not sit securely in the dock and therefore doesn't always charge reliably.

The device is simply packaged with an insert that is supposed to ensure a good fit for an iPod or older iPhone. The device is larger than you might think. It's base is about 5 3/4 inches wide and 3 1/4 inches wide in the middle. It tapers to about 4 inches in width as it rises up to 2 inches high. This isn't a small and wimpy device. It will take up a little desk or night table real estate. The unit also has a little heft to it, something that I think makes a lot of sense: it is sure on its four rubber feet and will not easily tip over or slip. On the back you have an AC extension outlet with a ground and a single USB port for charging. If the RCA guys really wanted to impress, they might have put two USB ports on the back--there is surely enough room--but this is a minor issue.

The iPhone or iPod is simply inserted in a well on the top of the dock. Another minor issue: the home button is obscured by the upper lip of the dock. Granted, this is not a dock/speaker type of device, but if the well were simply shallower, the button would be accessible.

The major problem with this device is that the iPhone dose not 'click' securely into place, as it does when you connect its usual 30 pin connector. I tried this with the iPhone in the minimalist, Incipio rubber case that I use and with the iPhone out of the case. I tried using the insert and adjusting the backrest on the insert, still no luck. If I press the iPhone in place (with or without the rubber case) I get that satisfying beep and the screen flashes on. Still, if I wobble the iPhone just a bit, the battery icon fluctuates between charging and not charging. You have to jimmy the iPhone a bit and make sure that the battery icon shows the lightning bolt to ensure that the thing is charging. The first night I used this, I placed the phone in the dock and went to sleep. In the morning, I realized the iPhone had slipped and didn't charge overnight. I have tried the dock with and without the supplied insert and with and without the case on--it doesn't seem to make a difference. The phone will definitely charge in this dock; however, the phone is still able to slip out of place easily if I bang the night table. It would be nice if the device had an LED on the front to indicate whether the iPhone was charging or not.

Most nights, I have been using the dock, but if I want to ensure a charge or will have the phone plugged in longer than one night, I simply use a 30 pin cord and plug the iPhone into the USB charge port on the back. This works just fine, but it negates the need for having this kind of dock.

Once again, this is a great concept, but the implementation is less than stellar. The device works after a fashion, but because the iPhone can slip out if you are not extra careful, I am giving this only three stars.

I love this! Almost all of the outlets in my kitchen are used and yet, when I use the RCA Charging Dock I can charge my iPhone, my ipad, and it has an outlet on it which allows me plug in a device if I need to. I travel often, and find that this is a great solution to place beside my bed stand and charge everything at once rather then root all over the room looking for outlets/chargers. And it charges super fast. The cord is of medium length.

I Love Love Love this and I would highly recommend it! It comes with a removable "bumper" pad so you can slide your smart phone in it and it will be tight. It also comes with a thinner bumper pad, but I find with my iPhone (one of the earlier versions)I don't need the bumper pad.

Just plug it into the wall and set it on your desk, and you've got yourself a nifty little iPhone charging dock. Works well, but I wish the additional USB port was on the front instead of the back, so I didn't have to pick it up and flip it around to plug something into it. Also, the connector seems to be a little tough to plug my iPhone in to, it takes a little bit of force. Otherwise, a perfectly fine charging dock.

My iPhone is more than just a phone. It is an alarm clock, music device, workout log and so much more. The RCA charging dock is a great accessory for the phone. I keep mine on the nightstand and use it not only for charging the phone overnight but also to use as an alarm clock and the dock has extra space to plug in my lamp and charge my Kindle as well.

Yes, this device is capable of charging my iPhone or iPad, and for that alone, it's worth three stars.

But the list of what it can't do for me is much longer. I'd picked this up hoping to be able to charge my iPhone and iPad at the same time -which would be doable, with the dock plus the USB charging port on the back -except for the fact hat the dock can't handle the size of my iPhone's case (which is a simple speck case, not even super bulky). I'm not going to bother taking the case on and off every time I charge my phone, which makes the dock essentially useless for me.

The cord that plugs in from the device is also awkwardly short, which really limited where in the room I could use it. And the device was just bulky enough that it wouldn't fit in any of the accessory pockets in my laptop bags, which definitely limits its portability for me.

For $5-10 more, there are much better products on the market -I have both Belkin and Rocketfish ones that I've been really happy with.

iLive iTDP310B Bar Speaker Dock for iPhone/iPod with CD/DVD Player, FM Radio, Alarm Clock and Remote

iLive iTDP310B Bar Speaker Dock for iPhone/iPod with CD/DVD Player, FM Radio, Alarm Clock and Remote Control
  • 32 inch wall-mountable bar speaker with dock for iPhone/iPod (iPhone/iPod sold separately)
  • CD/DVD player
  • 10 FM radio presets with digital volume control
  • Full function remote control (batteries included)
  • AC adaptor included

I purchased this item solely based on price and functionality. I was looking for a wall mount DVD player to mount under my 47" LCD TV and the dedicated wall mount players were all more than I wanted to spend since this particular TV is in the bedroom and will not get a lot of use. I ran across this unit while searching Amazon for options:

After mounting the unit I ran it through it's paces. DVD's both store bought and burned at home played without issue. I really couldn't see any difference between 480P and upconversion to 1080P (my TV is a 1080P LCD). The DVD menu system is rudimentary at best but it gets the job done. The FM radio worked fine. The iPod dock is only iPhone 3GS and backwards compatible. My iPhone 4 complained when docked but it still played and output video and sound OK and was controllable by the iLive remote. The manual is well done and reasonably complete though it is completely lacking any coverage of the video system setup menus.

The most important feature I was looking for was to wall mount the unit. It comes with a plastic bracket to attach to the wall and the unit has two sturdy metal bracket hooks that hang the unit on the bracket. The hooks slide into two slots on the bracket that allow for horizontal movement within a limited range to perfectly center the unit as needed. That's the good news. The bad news is that there is NO provision for cables to route from behind the unit up to a TV. When wall mounted the unit is flush with the wall and the only way to run cables to a TV above is to route them along the bottom of the unit and up the side at the very end. Obviously this is not aesthetically pleasing. I did find a workaround that while not optimal did get the job done. I removed the metal bracket hooks from the back of the unit (four screws each) and bent them outward slightly in order to create a narrow gap between the unit and the wall bracket. I was then able to route the various cables (power, etc) through the gap and up to the TV. I then tidied them up with some cable tubing. I purchased a flat HDMI cable for this purpose. Standard round HDMI cables will NOT work.

Amazon lists this item as being added in 10/2010. The owner's manual shows a date of July 2010 and the manufacture date on the unit also shows July 2010. The unit was drop shipped from the manufacturer and given it's age I wouldn't be surprised if this item isn't available much longer.

Pros:

1. Upconverting DVD player

2. iPod Dock

3. Speaker Bar

4. Can be wall mounted

5. FM Radio/Alarm

6. HDMI output

Cons:

1. Source of DVD mechanism and upconversion processor is unknown.

2. Sound quality of the speakers is not the greatest but it can get pretty loud. Keep your expectations realistic.

3. iPod dock is compatible with iPhone 3GS and older.

4. Wall mount has a significant design flaw.

Quality and longevity for this brand appears to be mixed and I can't speak to that since I just purchased the unit. Hopefully it will last a while given that it won't be used that often. For the price, I think this was a reasonably good purchase. At this point I would rate it four stars but the wall bracket flaw drops it to three.

I was so happy to find an electronic device that had all the features that I wanted and when I set it up to play, I was so disapointed. The clock was very faint you need to be up close to read it. The DVD player would play one DVD and not the next. The sound system looked impresssive but the actual sound was more like a childs toy. The remote control was hard to use, you have to point it directly at product and hope it sticks. I did not even attempt to try the Ipod and just repackaged the unit for a refund. I say DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT, but if you need to still try this unit, make sure you buy it thru Amazon because they are the best at refunding your purchase with no questions asked.

I really wanted this product to work. I need a player that has a DVD/CD player, Ipod/Iphone docking station, a sleep/wake timer that controls all with one remote,

This was the only thing I could find that came close and man was I disapointed.

I needed to find a docking station with decent sound for my home. Also, I did not have adequate sound from my LED TV. This product provided sound in that room without running wires from a surround sound system, and without an expensive receiver/wireless speaker system. Additionally, it provided a docking station for my nano, and iPod touch. The bonus was that I also have a DVD player for this room without another set of wires, another remote, and another piece of equipment.

This product provided everything that it had advertised. The apple products work well with the remote, and the boost in sound is significant.

I'm very impressed by this product. I am one of the heaviest sleepers that you will ever meet. Up until this point no other alarm clock would wake me up. At one time my own mother couldn't even wake me. But now I don't have to rely on anything but this alarm clock. I've found that if you put the bed shaker under your pillow, it works so much better that just laying on it. The bedshaker is what actually wakes me up but once i'm starting to wake up, the sound from the alarm clock keeps me awake. I highly recommend this product.

In short, this item was a major disappointment from the start. While adorable, I found it difficult to program, and it didn't help that there was no instruction manual included; I had to download it (kudos for being green, but slightly inconvenient). I bought the device so I could listen to the radio at work, and noticed right away the antenna was of poor quality, only allowing me to pick up 2 FM radio stations, and even those emitted quite a bit of static. Within the first week, the buttons intermittently stopped working, or began controlling functions it was not supposed to. For example, the power button didn't turn on, when it finally turned on, I couldn't turn it off, and out of nowhere, the volume buttons would change the radio presets and vice-versa. I soon found it unusable, but, of course, not within the return window. I think I could have found a $5 clock radio that would have worked better, and regret having wasted nearly $40 on this piece of junk. No love for iLuv here... =o(

It works well as an alarm clock, and the bed shaker really works. The things I didn't like about it is that the front is more slanted backwards than in the picture, so you can't read the time if it's not below eye level. I also don't like how the backlight is blue, because it doesn't show that in the pictures. The cord is not very long at all..maybe just over 4 feet. The sound quality isn't the best, but it works well for an alarm and I still listen to music on it without the quality bothering me too much. Overall it does what it says and I like it a lot!

I had read several different reviews from different websites, and there seemed to be a fifty percent chance that it might work. So I decided to try it, and I can tell you it is one of the best alarm clocks I've ever used. I bought this alarm clock because I am in college and I'm a very light sleeper. So I wear ear plugs at night for the best sleep possible. The bed shaker does a great job of waking you up. Although it is pretty loud, it does the job. The alarm can be somewhat hard to set at times but for the most part it's a great alarm clock. I also loved that there was an ipod dock, and radio. So over all a truly amazing alarm clock!

I really didn't expect too much from this mini speaker system for my iPod nano. But I was wrong. It is really great.

1. The speaker is smaller than I expected which is real plus. It measures about 4" (width) x 4" (height) x 4" (depth). I placed it on my desk and it looks nice and it doesn't take much space at all.

2. The sound quality while not mistaken for Bose, it is clear and generates decent bass sound. Plus, it can carry the sound far. It is powerful I must say. Even with the 1/5 volume of my iPod can fill the whole room with a clear sound.

3. I love the fact that my iPod is being charged while it is playing.

4. It has aux input at the back of the speaker, so you could connect other devices of your choice. (NOTE: However, there is talk that Altec Lansing will remove aux input from future models).

Overall, I am pleased by the product. Only thing you might want to consider is the price. It might be a tad expensive.

I've tried several small speakers in an attempt to easily bring my iPod music to rooms without a stereo system. This Altec Lansing is the best of the bunch, although I haven't yet tried any of the very high-end products out there.

Pros:

1. Set-up couldn't possibly be easier. Unpack it. Plug it in. Turn on your iPod. Done.

2. Small footprint. This fits nicely on a wide window ledge, so I don't have to rearrange table-tops when I move it from room to room.

3. Good sound, not tinny. Bass is obviously not going to be robust with a speaker this size, but overall the sound is good. Not "room-filling," but good.

Cons:

1. While it has a small footprint, it definitely isn't tiny. This isn't a speaker you're going to toss into a bag to take on a trip.

2. The speaker is covered with black cloth (like traditional in-home speakers). While this probably helps with the sound, it also makes it slightly less portable. And again, you're not going to travel with it.

So for my uses easy-to-move in-home music without a stereo this is about perfect. I docked a star because it's not really something I'd use anywhere else, and I prefer multi-use products. For what it is, it's a good product at a very fair price point.

The seller advertised this as "Works with all iPhone and iPod models". It does not work with the iphone 4. the phone displays, "Device not compatible". On the box it only lists up to the iphone 3s. If you want this for the iphone 4 you need to order the Octive M112, not this one. This is the older model, M102.

This is our third Octiv Mini and are immensely pleased with the product. Don't expect a speaker that costs less than a few value meals at McD's to fill your house with music...but you may be stunned at the quality of the sound. This third Mini is destined for my 8 yo daughter's room as she is the music buff of the house. For a 12x12 bedroom or office, the sound is perfect. Plenty loud to satisfy the ear and plenty quiet to keep the windoes from shaking!

My wife and I both have fairly slim cases with our iPhones and they fit fine without issue. However, both my kids have the Otterbox Defender and you will need an adapter or male/female cable to use this speaker while inside the Defender. Not an issue and still a bargain after factoring in an extra cable.

All sound functions work as expected and charging is effortless. Ours have found heavy use as: nightly sound "white noise" machines, morning news and podcast player, and of course the evening dance off with the kids! We do have a quality, room-filling dock for use in the center of our home, but that unit was over 20 times the cost. This little gem certainly has its place and will satisfy all but audiophiles for small space Apple audio.

In summary:

VERY small footprint!

Great sound (within reason)!

Well-constructed and up for daily use by the family!

Not sure why others are having issues with Iphone 4 operation. I plugged it in, worked just fine right out of the box. It requests that I download the Altec Lansing alarm clock application (not sure why). I didn't even recieve the "not optimized for iphone" message that I have recieved on other docks. Anyone that orders this expecting to use it at a house party has unrealistic expectations. Sounds great as a desk or counter top speaker. It does not come with an Iphone 4 dock adapter plate, so the phone is not entirely secured in the dock, but won't just fall out. The only thing that this is missing is a remote and/or external controls. You control the volume and navigation from the phone. If you are looking for a simple, good sounding speaker dock that works with Iphone 4, you can't beat this speaker for the price. If you are looking for audiophile levels of sound quality or a speaker that is built specifically for Iphone 4 be prepared to spend alot more $.

I bought this clock for the exercise room for the big bright numerals. And it's great for that. It keeps time and is easy to read from across the room. But even with the backup battery installed it doesn't actually save the time for even a 48-second outage... the time from the power going out to my backup generator kicking in. Huh?

I would have paid double to not have to reach up and reset the thing after every power outage, which are pretty common out here.

I chose this alarm clock specifically for my 95 year old grandmother who has poor vision. The photo shows giant *thick* bright green numbers; however, when I plugged it in, the numbers are CONSIDERABLY thinner than the image suggests and the contrast isn't that great either. My grandmother was completely unable to see the display so I'm returning this clock for something else.

I plugged the clock for just long enough to check if she could see it, so I can't comment on the accuracy or features of the clock. Unfortunately, it simply didn't meet my visibility needs which is the sole reason I chose it.

I love this clock ! I can see the time at night without my glasses with the large display .You can set the brightness level from high to low as it is kind of bright on the high level at night. Easy to use, easy to set.
