Uniden BC340CRS 100-Channel Clock Radio Scanner

Uniden BC340CRS 100-Channel Clock Radio Scanner
  • Store and scan up to 100 channels
  • Includes service search and weather scan
  • AM/FM Radio
  • Alarm clock with snooze function

This is a very good scanner. The instructions are not exactly "clear as a bell", but if you've ever had a scanner before you should be able to get the gist of the operation. {To program, press PGM, enter the frequency and the memory location you want, then press PGM again.} When it is in the search mode, you can press the "bank number" (1-10) and enable/disable that bank. You can enter 10 frequencies per bank, you can set one frequency per bank as a priority channel. The weather band and tv/fm radio bands work ok. I love the fact that it runs on the batteries when unplugged, and then when you plug it in it switches over to ac power although you're not quite sure which it's running from since there's no indication. The alarm is a bit on the weak side, but then you're probably not buying it to be an alarm clock.

I ordered this scanner from Uniden's website as I have had a big interest in Public Safety ever since I was little. I also get bored here easily as there is not much good music on the radio so I ordered this to be able to kill some day time.

This is a conventional 100 channel base scanner. While the initial programming is not too smooth sailing even for tech savys like me, the operation is easy once one gets a hang of it. It lets you save 100 different frequencies used by the PD, FD, airport, marine, and ameteur bands. It even has NOAA weather band, AM/FM radio, and a clock that can awaken you in the morning. While I do agree that the alarm is sometimes on the weak side, it beats having an alarm clock by the nightstand.

I will warn people that many agencies (such as police and fire departments) have now switched to more secure 800 MHz trunked radio systems. This means you may not be able pick up local chatter (like what I wanted). This trunked system allows multiple authorities to talk using only a select set of frequencies. Always research what is in use in your area before buying.

Overall, a very good scanner.

This is a great scanner. I love scanners and have several of them. This is a great scanner especialy if you want it in the bedroom. It has an alarm clock, am/fm radio, audio for tv channels 2 -13, and the sound clarity is great. This is a perfect scanner and the price is great. I would recommend this scanner.

I've had the Uniden 100 channel scanner about a month and a half. It has been my first scanner. I primarily have it set for my city's police broadcasts and listen to it while I'm reading or doing other projects. It's been informative to have that information and entertaining as well. I haven't had any problems with it in the time that I've had this scanner. The only thing I was a little disappointed about was that I didn't seem to be able to pick up any other types of scans besides police traffic when I tried to let it scan for things like air traffic, medical helicopter, etc. However, I'm not ruling out that in this day and age perhaps those channels are blocked or perhaps the area I live in doesn't have reception, but I didn't have any luck finding other types of scanning to listen to. Although I have enjoyed being able to get the police scanning on this scanner and I feel safer that I have that information accessible.

I purchased the scanner for a church. Not only was it helpful for having a radio to be informed about local events, but the weather radio was very useful when bad weather aproached, and we needed to turn off our computers. The scanner was just plain fun and interesting...maybe a little disturbing at times. I would highly recommend this to anyone, especially a business, because this is an old church and built of thick concrete walls and radios don't usually work here, but this one does. Good product, easy to use!

This is a very sharp and fancy looking cell phone. All the features specified are there and do the job effectively. Do not ever try to purchase the 2.0 usb charging cable separately. You are not going to be able to replace it. I have bought at least eight cables believeing that they were the appropriate ones only to be disappointed time after time because they would not fit the slot in the phone. Also do not ever try to replace the rechargeable lithium batterys because you are not going to be able to find them either. If you ask the sellers of these cell phones to sell you any of the accessorys for this phone, you are prompltly told that they are not sold separately. I now have a useless very sharp looking phone that I lost $100.00 dollars worth of minutes to T-Mobile becasue I can't charge the damn thing. I keep getting web sites that advertise 2.0 micro usb cables but none of them ever say that they are for a Q8 wrist cell phone. It is impossible to tell just from looking at the end of the cable if it will fit into the slot on the phone. I am so glad that this was a gift. I would never buy this cell phone for anyone, especially now that I know that it is virtually impossible to find or purchase any of the accesorys separately. Thank-you for your time.Q8 Dual Sim Card Dual Standby Watch Cell Phone Mobile Quad Band Touch Screen Mp3/4 with Keypad I am thoroughly convinced that the reason a customer is not able to buy any accessories for this cell phone is because the manufacturer wishes to constantly make money from new purchases. I suspect that if accessories are ever made available to past purchasers they will be so costly that it would not make good sense to replace any defective parts. If you really love this cell phone you are forced to buy another one. I've noticed that this cell phone is predominantly sold in China. Due to fact that this cell phone is made in a foreign country, any parts or the actual cell phone are usually not shipped to a resident of the United States unless purchased from an American based business. Again, I would suggest anyone who lives in the United States of America, please do not buy this cell phone. You will simply never be able to buy any of the accessories like the 2.0 usb micro cable or the rechargeable lithium battery should the need arise.

Got each of my sons an iPod touch for Christmas 2009 and then on their 2010 birthdays got them each one of these systems. It adds an incredible amount of functionality for the money. It amplifies the music so it can be shared with a roomful of people. The sound quality is good, but not great. It even has a video out so that videos can be displayed on a television. It's great for sharing Youtube videos with a roomful of people. My sons like the way it looks. It comes with a remote control to change songs or whatever from across the room. It includes radio and a CD player as well. I thought it was a great value at $100 but it's a spectacular value at the current price of under $80.

I didn't purchase this system through amazon but I thought I'd leave a comment so people knew what they were looking at. First I would like to describe these speakers. If your looking for Bass in your stereo system then DON"T get these

FAQs:

How loud does it get?

They max volume at 30, but its not that loud. Barely fills my bedroom with sound at max. My TV gets louder.

Does it charge and play any IPod or Iphone?

This is a plus because it DOES play ANY!!!! Ipod or Iphone and charges them. There is also an Aux cable port to play your laptop through the headphone jack if you want.

Is it big?

Compared to other self stereo systems it isn't big. However I have computer speakers that are 5x smaller, that also get louder than these. So in my opinion the size is to big for the lack of volume.

How are its functions?

CD works great no problems, the remote is also great, and all the modes work like they say.

How is the Bass?

For me this was the most important question. So the answer is, the Bass is non-existence!! This causes the sound quality to drop.

So in my opinion just get a smaller system that also charges your Ipod cause this one isn't worth the size and money.

Here is the lowdown:

PROS:

1. It worked right out of the box with little set-up and the sound is decent, but not great.

2. The ipod dock worked fine. It has attachments for the variety of different docking needs.

3. I was able to buy it a half mile from my house at Meijer. Convenient.

CONS:

1. Speakers are connected and wires are extremely thin. The whole system is cheaply/lightly built. You can feel it isn't going to last too long before problems arise.

2. Speaker wires are pretty short. I couldn't stretch it to the place the last system's speakers were.

THE VERDICT:

The "system" is okay for the spot it is going in (my garage), but I would never recommend it as your go-to system. Go Sony or check out what Best Buy has to offer.

My old radio used to cut out occasionally, the stations didn't come in well and it was also cheaply made, but since I found it in an empty apartment, I couldn't complain. Hopefully, this lasts for a few years.

TEAC MC-DX50i 2.1 Ch. Hi-Fi System & iPod Dock

TEAC MC-DX50i 2.1 Ch. Hi-Fi System & iPod Dock
  • System remote control also controls basic iPod functions.
  • NXT flat-panel speakers. Bass and treble controls. Slot-in CD player plays CD/CD-R/CD-RW discs.
  • Clock and timer functions. Digital tuner with 20 station presets (10AM and 10FM)
  • Docking Station for iPod.
  • Powered subwoofer

I bought this for my wife for Christmas because she wanted a radio in the house and we haven't had one for years. I decided on this model because I was also getting her an iPhone. I thought it would be a great way for her to have the radio and all of her music available in the same source, as well as a convenient way to ensure her iPhone stayed charged.

I was disappointed when we put the iPhone in the docking station and the screen indicated that this device was not compatible with the iPhone (apparently the iPhone has something different on its docking port than the other four iPods that I own and I get this message on all but one of my third-party chargers). However, I was relieved to see that after that message all the functions on the iPhone proceeded without any problem. The iPhone played through the system just as the other iPods and all were controllable from the controls on the TEAC remote or head unit. So, all worked fine except the TEAC does not charge the iPhone and that is the only difference from the iPods.

The TEAC works wonderfully and sounds great. I was impressed right away as I unpacked the item. If you have ever bought a product from Apple Computer, you are aware of the exemplary job they do in their packing. It puts other products to shame, but here it seems that TEAC must be using the same folks to design their packaging. The TEAC unit was packed neatly and efficiently. The inside lid had a large, clear diagram of how all the parts were packed. The parts were packed in a way that made doing inventory and set up as easy as could be.

The manual could have been a little easier to read. i found it a bit redundant, but i'm sure that some would appreciate that if they were only going to read specific sections and perhaps out of sequence. The sleek and well designed remote control fit comfortably in the hand and was impressively solid, made almost entirely of metal except for the touch sensitive surface.

I also had a little trouble picking up a couple of my favorite stations that I listen to in the car when I used the auto-scanning feature, but was able to pick them up tuning manually. At first I thought that the TEAC antenna was just weak since I didn't connect it to an FM antenna (a coax input is provided), but then I realized that the auto-scan actually picked up about 10 local stations that my car always missed no matter which part of town I was in. So, I guess the TEAC has very good sensitivity after all.

Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. This was my first TEAC product. My dad had a TEAC reel-to-reel back in the 70's, but that was my only exposure to the brand. I will definitely consider this brand in future electronics purchases.

Have only had this for a few days, here's what I think so far:

Pros:

1. Only one power cord for the entire unit, from wall to the powered sub-woofer. The main unit is powered by the thick cord from the sub-woofer.

2. Cord from sub-woofer to main unit is substantial and about 6 feet long

3. Easy to setup, did not need the manual

4. Sub-woofer helps the sound

5. Modern looking with thin smaller speakers

6. Can get pretty loud, for a somewhat inexpensive room unit

Cons:

1. speaker cords could be a bit longer

2. Plays purchased CDs and CD-R's but not in MP3 format

3. CD loader is on top hope it is not affected by dust getting in

4. Think it's a little overpriced

5. My daughter thinks the clock light is too bright at nighttime in her room, but have been told that the light can in fact be dimmed (see comment, Thanks!) I've been told it can be dimmed, need to check that out.

6. Another person noted it does not have battery backup. Not sure why Teac did not include that.

I purchased this primarily as a way to get local radio as well as have something to play my ipod on at work. This has nice, robust sound for an office setting, and I was really surprised at the quality for the price. The sub-woofer really does make a difference, even if I felt a little ridiculous busting it out for the office. This isn't a home theater system, so you need to adjust your expectations accordingly. But for the price you will be very pleased.

Not only is this AM/FM/CD/iPOD ready, but you can also use it as your computer speakers through the AUX IN port on the front of the unit. Since you can move the separate components around to your liking, that worked out very well for me on my desk, and I was able to lose my old speakers. What a deal!

Since I don't have this at home, I can't really test it, but there is an S-video hookup as well, so that you can hook it up to your TV. I would consider this for our den, which has a small flat screen so my husband can work and watch sports.

The only thing they could do any better would be to to include a FM antenna (AM is included, but not FM). A very small complaint, as I would likely buy a more robust one anyway (I already had a TERK antennae that I brought with me).

All in all, a great little setup!

I purchased the TEAC MC-DX50i at my local Costco. I have an iPod Touch and have been looking for a sound system that I could plug the iPod into. I also wanted something that could play CDs, had a radio tuner and would be "low profile" on my bookcase. The sound quality suits me. My only concern is I'm not getting a clear signal on one or two of my favorite FM stations (one is Sports Talk) but I can live with this!

The system sound good, however the picture doesn't show the "booster" speaker that is bigger than the actual system. The booster is so huge and heavy you can't fit or hide it in a "shelf."
